• Satellite A45: need to update firmware on DVR K12D drive

  The only solution is to update the firmware, but how can I do? I need the update of the firmware. I called toshiba WE also, they talked for two hours and then answer that I have to contact pioneer!

  A driver is 'old' does not mean that you need to replace.  The general rule for Windows drivers is, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."  You should only update a driver if the device does not work correctly and you have reason to believe that the driver is at fault, or (b) the new pilot adds features that you want or need.

  OTOH, if you go to the real Web SITE (instead of random file download sites), you can find a driver for XP 64 and XP (i.e., XP-32) who seems to be newer than yours - version 3.87.  This driver is for the following models, which can be yours (you have failed to identify the specific model you have).

• Question of firmware update hard drives/RAID

  We have a Server Power Edge R210II with OS MS Server 2008R2 and a Controller PERC H200 RAID (two disc HARD 1 TB Seagate SATA in RAID1).
  Recently, there is a new firmware for Seagate drives on a dell (Package update for MS Windows) support site.
  I really don't want to lose the server :) and never update firmware on the disks on the server with RAID (I've updated the players only on PC).
  Can someone tell me a procedure to update the firmware on my drives? Problems with the upgrade, best practices etc?

  Best practices:

  • First have a backup. Should data not destructive, but everything can happen.
  • Use SUU or Repository Manager to update ALL of your system - iDRAC/BIOS firmware, PERC and other firmware must be updated before the firmware of the HARD drive.

  Most HARD drive firmware updates are bootable, so you just get the utility boot and update.

  You cannot update firmware of the drive not Dell with Dell firmware (i.e. If you bought the retail/generic readers).

  Before installing ESXi 5.1, I've updated firmware to 7.0 manually. Once ESXi is installed, I found firmware has been downgraded to 5.0 that comes with the driver of stock. Then I updated the driver, firmware has been updated to 7.0 again.

• Unable to update firmware for the PERC 5 controller / i on PE1950

  We have 6 PE1950 server with SAS PERC 5 / i integrated RAID controllers. Dell OpenManage complains about being obsolete PERC firmware. 2 servers I currently have running, firmware 5.2.1 - 0062 and 5.1.1 - 0040. I downloaded the latest version of 5.2.2 - 0072. I tried the update by the Windows package and who did not, and he complain about the OS being too recent. A server is Windows Server 2008 R2 and the other Windows Server R2 2012.   I was watching the forums and came across your question. Ask yourself if you have solved your problem of port when you use plugin manager of OneCommand to vCenter Server? I have seen that HP has two downloads for the fw updates. For now, the last FW update to CN1000E is 4.0.493.0 March 12, 2012. Call the Emulex support if you experience problems when you try to update the fw with the Emulex OneCommand Manager application or the plug-in. But just make sure you are tested and approved HP FW by downloading the files from their site.

  Apparently Apple no longer supports the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330 M 256 MB and did not update the driver in the operating system to account for its recent update Linux (below)?   You have a TS-L632P and TS-L632H drive?
  Isn't it? Then you cannot update the firmware.

  Well, it of strange but thanks for the information. It could be very useful for other users.
  By the way; on the Toshiba driver page, you will find the update of the firmware.
  Maybe after the upgrade of the BIOS you should make the reader to update firmware.
  But as far as I know that you can not do one reveres firmware. After the new installation of the firmware, you will not be able to install an older version.

  So in my opinion you shouldn't do any upgrade now. If you drive works so don t change anything ;)
