  The provided article shows how to disable behaviors of browser default using JavaScript, especially the preventDefault method available on each key event.

  You should be able to disable text selection, if you copy the following into your page JavaScript code.

  document.addEventListener("touchstart", function(e) { e.preventDefault(); }, false);
  document.addEventListener("touchmove", function(e) { e.preventDefault(); }, false);
  

  Note: This will also disable other behaviors that you might not for your application - or you can (for example the code snippet above will disable also pinch in the zoom and scroll.)

• Problem of text selection in the text field for entry in the emulator

  I'm having a problem of text selection in a text field when I run my application in the emulator Playbook. Let me see if I can expose the problem here:

  1. The field in question is a classic text, text with an integrated in police entry field. The domain is in a SWC and referenced in another FILE.
  2. The code is set up such that when a user clicks the field function is called to highlight all the text. The code is more or less as follows:

When the text is not selected as expected the cursor always appears in the field and the Playbook keyboard slides up by below. What is particularly problematic, that's what often happens, is that the whole scene moves upward on 10px when it is clicked on the ground. If I try to click on the same ground once again, another change to the top of 10px or so, etc..

  So why the text not properly selected and why the scene evolves upwards?

  I realize that more information may be required from me to correctly solve this problem, but if someone has all understand why this may be the case, I would be happy to learn from him.

  I can answer the question of displacement.  This is a bug in BB and supposed to be fixed in version «next» SDK

  The question of the selection, I'll guess has to do with the fileld with focus, selection is not possible.  Try to set the focus outside of maybe the text field?

  My question is how update you text files that were packaged in the instalation of the app "app/native/assets/data / '?

  It is not possible, assets / is read only when the application is deployed to the device, it is only readwrite on Simulator. data / folder can be used instead.

  Optionally, the file may initially active resident / and can be manually copied to data / on the first start of the application. After that it can be updated in the data / folder.

I don't know what preference I changed and can't seem to find a second time to restore the color of text selection. • Update of multiple selection form

  I'm trying to find how to get down my selection drop in my update form to select existing selected options and also display no selected items in a form for updating the relevant tables.
  
  Here is an example of what I'm trying to do.
  
  Say I want to catalog all my music CD. I have a table of information (title, band, release date etc) CD called CD a table for categories (e.g. pop, rock, jazz, blues, etc.) and a lookup table that stores the CD_ID and the stuff that was selected when you enter the details of the CD. As each CD could if integrate several select categories allows multiple selections to the appropriate categories. for example a CD might fit the categories, progressive Jazz and Fusion.
  
  So when the CD is added to the CD database info goes into the table of CDs and the CD_ID is then used to fill the table of correspondence with various stuff from the categories table. This is done with an insert in a loop so that the CD_ID is inserted several times for each stuff so a number of rows is added to the lookup table according to how many categories have been selected where the info of the CD has been added.
  
  Now the question is: I want to build a form to be able to update the information on the CD. There must be a drop of drop-down selection that displays the existing selections as well as the other selections of the categories table that you can add new or modify existing selections.
  
  I know this must be a common thing to do, but I just can't get my head around it. There must be a simple elegant way to do this. I don't want any duplicate menu options drop-down select, just selected existing and all options other options that have not been selected.
  
  Hope it makes sense.

  OK I finally it works, thanks Dan for putting me on the right track!

  For some reason, I was getting an error on the part of "selected" = selected code have included my code as amended below as the solution that works for me.

  Here are my two querys, I've included the code in order to make life a little easier for us beginners like often a small part of the puzzle is missing and he just leaves us perplexed. So, here it is, I know I'll be using this a lot in the future.

  Text select auto depends on application settings. WordPad for example has an option, 'Auto-selected words'. Disable this and I believe that you can select letters instead of being forced to choose words.
