Updating 802.11 g 802.11n

Hello

I have a laptop HP Pavilion dv6500, his 4 years approximately, initially running on Vista home premium, now running Windows 7 Home premium, with a map of network Broadcom 802.11 g (NViDIA n Force network controller).

Is is possible to upgrade to 802.11n.

Where can I get a map of?

Do you have the software with it?

Is there any driver updates?

And it'll work? /

I'm switching to Sky who will be BT broadband (not infinite)

Thank you in anticipation

Paul,

Thanks a lot for the quick response, looks like theres more chance of it wrong than being right. Maybe I'll just leave it as what.

I think I'll give it a little more thought.

Thank you once again.

Kevin

Hey Kevin,

It is not as difficult as it looks like. Also, I have a BT broadband (not infinite) and use a BT HomeHub 3. When I get home, I'll look for compatible cards. Until now, Paul is probably right, and it is one so I'll help you get the compatible...

    Hello @css321,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I read your post about the way your computer displays a pop-up message prompting you to update the installed wireless card. I'd be happy to help you in this case!

If you encounter any issues connecting to a wireless network on your computer, I wouldn't count the update as crucial. If your computer is having problems connecting to the network, even if the problem is intermittent, it may be a good idea to install the update.

I hope this helps, and if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to post back!

    Hi mpw101,

I understand that you get an automatic update that indicates that you must install the software driver for your Ralink Wireless LAN card, and I would be happy to help you!

For your computer, the most up-to-date Ralink Wireless Network Controller Driver is labeled sp58084.exe. I spoke with Dunidar on this subject, and he referred me to a previous post that you created on your network card. That being said, if you update is always at the SP62055.exe, please ignore this update as it is a business unit.

    I hope this helps!

  • How can I update to network without WIRE Draft 802.11n draft 5742z-4200 adapter

I have an Acer Aspire 5742z-4200, and it came with a mini PCI-E card of draft 802.11n.  I didn't need much in the way of transfer speed out of the machine most of the time I've owned it, but now all of a sudden.

I bought two Inetl 802.11 b/g/n/ac cards, assuming that the PCI-E was a standard housing, and one card would work, like the other, but with different capacities.  That doesn't seem to matter of bethe.  After installation of each, the PC started very slowly, but has managed to load network tot connect drivers and even transfer files at lightning speed, compared to my connection 802.11 g.  But overall, the laptop is too slow to use.

A little research on Google introduced me to the term 'material whitelist.  I imagine that it is also possible tensions, frequency of the bus or whatever it is of another participant might be incompatible.  The PC works fine with the old card in it, so I don't think I have anything damaged.  Does anyone know what I need to do to upgrade the WLAN card in my laptop?  If I'm relegated to get a USB adapter?

    Thanks for your help!

OK, some more application of Google-fu, and I read more on the subject of the registration of the pins with more recently introduced functions.  Pin 20 seemed to have something to with a wireless radio turn off the feature that did not have previous PCIe slots/motherboards.  The symptom seems to be no visible from card otherwise functional networks.  PIN 51 resembled a new feature/issue and seemed to have something with the ability to disable the radio more than one.  (The 802.11ac card I got a bluetooth as well.)  It is manufactured by chipzilla, a nd a 2.4 and 5 Ghz frequencies for WLAN function. I wanted the frequencies and the 802.11ac and struggled to find one without Bluetooth.  It was $ 31).

This PC is quite old now (Core 2 Duo 2 Ghz, DDR3 1333 MHz RAM - a bit slow, but with a small SSD, it's fine for my purposes.) and not worth much and I save all the time so I decided to give it a shot.  I don't know the rules here to post links, so I don't want to, but they are not hard to find.  A few people have even posted revision of the Chipzilla official on the mini PCIe spec for the addition of several start/stop function triggered on the PIN 51 radio.  PIN Ribbon 51 seems to have solved the problem completely.

Yet now my machine starts quick, the transfer rate WiFi is what it should be and if I don't have any Bluetooth use, the devices all appear OK in Device Mangler.  I guess that all 802.11ac cards with several radio stations have this PIN 51 - multiple radio disable switch compatibility issues when used in older laptops.  I look around a bit for one with no Bluetooth, but saw nothing so I decided to try the hack.  If the thing starts to smoke or whatever it is, I'll come back and update this thread.  I wouldn't spread dangerous advice.

    Thanks again, Chris.

  • Satellite Pro A200-16YT - update wireless adapter card for 802.11n

Satellite Pro A200-16YT (PSAE1E) with Windows XP Professional SP3 from the East.
I tried to increase my existing 54 Mbps wireless network speed by replacing the Atheros AR5007-EG existing with 802.11n 802.11a/b/g more quick adapter.

The Atheros driver is v9.2.0.439 (08/04/2011) it's later. I tried to install an Azurewave AR5BXB72 (Atheros AR5008) as a substitute, but without success. As well as trying the standard Windows wireless configuration, I used the Atheros Client Utility (ACU) which confirms that the card and the driver are installed and activated, but the radio does not, so no there is no association/connection to the wireless network!

Reinstall the original AR5007 works without any problem. If someone experienced similar problems or can offer a solution, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    Hello

Not sure about this Wlan card but I read in the forum that some people had similar problems, allowing the new card Wlan.

    Check this thread for example:

It seems that the problem is related to the assignment of the WLan card pins.

  • HP dv6-6c10us: HP dv6-6c10us Broadcom 802.11n wireless adapter does not work after windows 10 installed

I have a laptop HP dv6-6c10us with a Broadcom 802.11n wireless adapter.  It worked fine on Win 7.  When I upgraded to win 10, it has stopped working.  The driver has not been updated since 06/02/13.

Until the driver is updated by Broadcom or HP, this computer is now a desktop computer.

Any suggestions on how to get the adapter wireless on Windows 10?

I recommend you to go back and do a system restore to a point before started to install the automatic updates, and where worked the wireless.

Then download this tool that stops updates to install automatically.

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/3073930

Hide all of them and then install one by one until you find the one that is to destroy the wireless connection.

When you have found the culprit just hide it again and it will not be installed.

You can create a system restore point each time you install an update.

Tedious, but you should get where you want to be.

I lost my network connection and I don't know where to go to fix it. If anyone has an idea where ho to continue, I have tried so many stage already that I am at a loss... Help

My computer semi regularly acted by the loss of my internet on a whim. Basically, it can detect WIFI, no problem, shows the strongest signal for her also. just tells me that it cannot connect to WIFI when I try (even if he can ask me the password and can tell if I use one bad)

    I can't reprocude the question

No significant changes to my computer because the issues started happening.

    Simple steps:

-Recovery (before the first event) system does not alter

-Router and modem are not the issue

-Could you find not updated driver anywhere (even though this does not mean that they do not exist, but having only no internet with the pc makes it particularly tricky - also HP does not provide the )

    -Power management wasn't the question

-J' tried forget network the many times this problem has occurred. He has not fixed it.

    Additional troubleshooting showed:

-Reset the Winsock Catalog did not resolve the question more than once (emplying he did the first time I did).

-Reset of TCP/IP, that does not solve the issue more far.

My WIRELESS card is a Broadcom 802.11n

Finally, the only thing that I can see (although I can easily miss something obvious) is my reinstallation of an old printer inkjet EPSON Workforce 545, which I am connected to my WIFI and my PC via USB (why I used wifi since I got cable?...) I do not know) a few days later, people who use the same network reported the act more as usual but I have not noticed anything on my end.

-J' have been disconnected from the network to the printer and stopped using it.

-J' found evidence of his feature wirless allgedly interfere with other devices here (search for entitled Review "bought two units for corn or work")

    Edit 12/04/2016

I ended up having to do a factory reset on my computer for unrelated reasons. To reconnect the original WLAN card, I don't have to use the USB adapter that I bought to solve my problem.

Factory reset works if fails everything else! Solution without after all!

  • My old Airport Extreme 802.11n will work well with my new Time Capsule 802.11ac airport?

  • Re: Satellite L755-13 q: WLAN N (802.11n) not visible, how to enable it?

I have a Satellite L755-13 q which is sold with a compatible 802.11n wireless network WLAN but the WLAN n are not detected by my computer.
The N-WLAN is detected on another computer.

I have driver updates Realtek RTL8188CE since the download from Toshiba site.
Driver for the type of network option is well-defined on 802.11b/g/n. other B-WLAN is detected by my computer.

Have you ever seen this problem?
What could be done to enable detection of the N-WLAN?

    Thank you and best regards

    Hello

Are you sure that the wireless network adapter is set to Draft N (802.11 N)?
In the Device Manager-> card WLan-> properties-> Advanced tab, you can check if the Draft N is enabled and set.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/FAQ7B020B0000R01.htm

If it s set and the laptop would not recognize the Wireless N network, then you must update the WLan driver. I recommend you to choose one page Realtek.
Of course, you can also test the driver here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

It could also be a problem of compatibility between the card and the router.
Some WLan card supports the standard 802.11 N standard to 2.4 Ghz band so if your router supports 802.11 N only at 5 GHz then local laptops network card would not receive this network.

  • Satellite L670 - unable to connect to my 802.11n WLAN router

    Hello

I have a new Satellite L670 with Windows 7 Home Premium. With this laptop I can connect to my network 802.11 g WLAN. Everything works very well. Now I wanted to connect to my 802.11n wlan (router: linksys wrt610n) but it does not work. Laptop can't see the network (ssid) and it does not work if I entered the ssid manually too. The network works with my mac mini perfectly if it is not a failure of the 802.11n.

I have updated all drivers from the laptop, all the updates that are installed under windows and I tested the driver broadcom broadcom itself (once the driver from toshiba Web site and the other driver from broadcom site) but nothing works. Laptop can't see the ssid and a manual configuration do not work too.

    Can someone help me pls?
