upgrade error: WinXP SP3 upgrade to Win8

I have WinXP SP3 and upgrade to Windows 8. When you start the upgrade wizard, the message "check system requirement runtime error, error code 0 x 80070001.

The wizard gets the job but ends with the error "internal error: error checking of the compatibility of operation." Check the logs for more details".

I had no idea what log files are supposed to, where to find them. Has anyone else experienced the same prob and found a solution or could give me a clue to locate the log files?

Thanks in advance for any help. Jürgen

I bought a few weeks ago.

After upgrading to win8.1, I noticed the speed of internet was slow, I'm on a connection "Ultra-fast VDSL" yet all downloads by wireless are 15 to 25kbs max.

If I connect the cable to the modem and disconnect the wireless connection, I get 200 to 300 kbs as I should, but then my game of Ryan box can't find my computer, as soon as I reconnect wireless it can.

OK, maybe two questions here, but to start I would like to help to get the connection wireless operating at the speed it should.

    Thank you, John

The notebook PC goes in a cycle of auto repair, then gives the choice to reboot or try the advanced options. I tried to use F8 or delete to go in safe mode. You hold the key or continue to press several times during the startup of the computer to the top? Or is there another method to get in safe mode. Could someone please answer?

  • When compacting OE in WinXP SP3 I get a message that OE has encountered an error and needs to close

When compacting OE in WinXP SP3, I get a message that OE has encountered an error and needs to close that he made and lost messages in at least one of the message files. I can retrieve messages from the backup files, but I can do anything to correct the compaction process?

The simplest solution is a new identity.  File | Identities | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

To help prevent that this happens in the future...

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

    And backup often.

  • Re: Satellite A210-19 WinXP SP3 Card Reader/Buletooth question f

    Hello.
I have laptop Satellite A210-19 f and I can't read any card in my player card on WinXp SP3.
Utils installed SD and card reader controller.
It does not work. Also my bluetooth does not work too. After installing bluetooth monitor noething happened.

    Any suggestions?

    _Regarding SD card problem: _
Go to Device Manager, remove the SD card reader, restart the laptop and reinstall the driver from SD card.
The problem could be that XP drivers are not released for the A200 PSAELE series.

In this case, you will need to use the Flash Media Driver of Texas Instruments, which was released for other series.

_Regarding the problem of Bluetooth: _
BT monitor is not the driver!
    You need the battery Bluetooth!

    You can download here:

  • Cannot transfer files (.doc, .pdf, .xls, etc.) to the Xoom on WinXP SP3

At home, I have Windows 7 and have only minor problems, file transfer to my Xoom. I invited to Skip, Skip All, ignore, etc. but only am allowed to still transfer files.

My question is at work on my WinXP SP3 machine where I want my Xoom transferable working documents for when I travel. When I transfer, I get a prompt similar to Skip, Skip All, but no option ignore and continue to transfer, only to cancel. Since Mico SD card does not right now, I need a way to sync my Xoom upward with my working files.

Someone has an idea? All my research was unsuccessful.

  • Satellite A300 - Continuos HDD access with WinXP SP3

I recently bought a Satellite A300 (PSAGCE) with Windows Vista installed: I resized the main partition of Vista and installed WInXP Sp3 on a new partition.
Everything went well, thanks to the Toshiba support site full of work XP drivers.

I noticed that randomly the HDD LED is on and the operating system is continuously disk access: this happens as soon as I open a new window of Windows Explorer, explorer.exe freezing and refusing to close the PC.
But this is not the only cause of the problem: HARD drive sometimes starts to be consulted while I am using a generic application (this is not the same each time).

I was thinking a chip or a problem of control of storage, but I installed the latest drivers of Toshiba/Intel.

    Any idea?
    Thank you!

    I think it's normal.
Maybe you have a virus or your antivirus program scan the HARD drive. Check it!

I could be that your HARD drive is faulty, but I doubt that.
However, you can test with Drive Fitness Test (Google is your friend).

  • D20 + SATA ONLY + WINXP SP3 32 BIT

    Hi all

Testing a D20 for the company and can not get the D20 to run as a SATA drive only. Currently, its spinning the Marvell controller with a 500 GB drive in.

Have tried to get into the BIOS and disable the RAID controller but then I can't use the HD as just a SATA drive.

The only joy I had is to plug in a diskette with 32-bit controller Marvell drivers starting with Windows XP 32-bit, as he travels through install press F6 to install the drivers for the controller, and then once I hit continues to back installation/format disks, I get a blue screen of death. The strange thing is that if I use our WinXP SP3 32 bit copy of Microsoft license which it MUST be installed with I get the BSOD, but if I through in a Dell WinXP SP3 32 bit OS disk I can install the operating system without problem at all!

All I want to do is really disable the single use of SATA drive only (somehow) RAID controller and install WinXP SP3 32-bit using our copy of Microsoft Licensing with this blue screening!

    Any help would be fantastic!

    See you soon,.

  • How can I fix MS Sans Serif fonts in WinXP SP3?

I played FSX on WinXP SP3 and suddenly police dialogs commune, looked weird. Seems like the problem, it's my default system font (MS Sans Serif) was erased, so all elements of dialogue text using this default font to display text with big letters, usually they do not fit in the room and messages are trimmed.

I tested some programs that use the default font by using MS VS resource editor and XN resource editor. In all cases, the default font is "MS Sans Serif, 8pt", but when I click on the combo of fonts, the police is not displayed.  I have other 'similar' fonts: Microsoft Sans Serif and MS Serif, but not exactly 'MS Sans Serif '. I don't know if it's the same font as "Microsoft Sans Serif". Anyway, if I go to regedit, I have not entered fonssubstitution. Any idea on how could I solve this problem?

Bah! Forget it! I just had to copy sserife.fon from another PC into my fonts folder and that's it!

  • Flash Player 10 fails to install on WinXP SP3

WinXP SP3 with IE7. Use the tool correctly uninstalled and uninstall the previous version of the flash player. Now, when I try to install the current version of the flash player 10.0.12.36, it makes on the screen "when you see the full movie of the installation..." "but the film comes and flash player is never installed. The software McAffee anti-virus is disabled, pop ups allowed, cookies enabled, and the firewall is disabled. Need help on getting this facility.

    2. use the utility to uninstall with the /Clean. option
    3. restart the computer. Disable the antivirus software.
    4. run the installation of Flash Player 10.0.12.36.

  • Lavbiew 2012 project problems with WinXp SP3 Installer program install - errors

I have a project that has built and installed Windows Xp and 7 when built with LV2011. I upgraded to LV2012 and I get a Setup installation error build installed on a Windows Xp Service Pack 3. I noticed that LV2011 had WinXp as min requirement and LV2012 now is Win Xp SP2 minimum. But this isn't the issue here, because the target is SP3.

I found that the version of Labview 2012 Installer went from LV2011. The properties of Labview 2012 Installer has the default settings

This includes all the components for the Runtime Library 2012 F3. More precisely the core of mathematics and the Non-anglais supports for the runtime library. The two elements give Installer failure and mistakes. See attached for the correct settings file. I have it became the local technical support technician and service appealed to this subject to be submitted to the development team.

  • Satellite Pro L300 upgraded to Win8 but I would like to update the drivers

I have upgraded to Windows 8, but I found the Wifi adapter needs to be reset frequently (it seems to be without a cause) - Troubleshooting Windows 8 solves it by resetting the adapter, but I thought there will be a fix for this?

When I tried to update the drivers I found that the L300 is not (in the not extensible or expandable lists)-is the L300 compatible in this respect by another model? Or can you suggest how to update all the drivers of Toshiba for this model.

    Thank you

Your Satellite Pro is the model of laptop old enough and not supported for Win8.
It is difficult to find drivers for the notebook not supported models and old.

Problem is that if you make the decision to do so anyway you are on your own and can be all just lucky if everything works properly.
    > is the L300 compatible in this respect by another model?
It is not easy to give you the right answer. What needs to be done is to compare each hardware component important as chipset, GPU, chip sound, LAN/WLAN with other models and see if some Win8 drivers are available. It is not so easy.

For example: Toshiba Satellite pro L300 offers 4 different hardware platforms. One you have? What is the model number of your machine?

  • Laptop Toshiba Vista OS; possible upgrade to Win8.1?

Since my first posting, I learned that this Toshiba laptop had Win7 top via an update free, but when my daughter took a virus of the machine, she returned to Vista. She couldn't reinstall Win7 as the free offer (disc) had expired. It was a few years ago.
so it should consider Win8 as being more available with Win7 support for installation on this machine?

    Hello

Follow these steps before you 'Upgrade' to Windows 8.1.

Vista to 8.1 is via a clean install; There is no upgrade path.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-AU/Windows-8/upgrade-from-Windows-Vista-XP-tutorial

Check if the manufacturer of your computer/laptop has Windows 8 drivers available for your model.

If this is not available, Windows 8/8.1 not install and work properly for you.

There is a lot of information in this first link from Microsoft:

Download and run the Windows Upgrade Assistant 8.1 of to see if your machine is compatible Windows 8.1 and read the update for Windows 8.1: FAQ here
