upgrade memory not recognized

I have a pavilion dv6405ca that came with 2 512 memory sticks. I replaced them with 2 1gig sticks and all thing as before, but the computer works is still only 1 ram total concert. The bios won't let me change anything, but the date and time and memory remapping is not on the menu.  the operating system is vista Home premium.

Oh... I have flashed the bios to f.42 f.43. no problems, but the machine is still unaware of the increased ram.

RESOLVED the 2nd slot was not properly seated new stick. The old man sat down with a problem, but the new ram RAM has not quite contact (about 8 times in a row!). I finally noticed and made a misguided pushing and he sat and I have my complete 2gig. Thank you for you time and effort.

  • Tecra M3 (PTM30E) - new module of memory not recognized

    Hello

I have a Tecra M3 PTM30E 09X01LEN and am trying to upgrade the memory - addition to the 512 MB, it came with.

I bought an upgrade memory of 1 GB Toshiba - PC2-4300 DDR2-553 and tried to install it in the housing B (leaving the original card where he was). As far as I know I've followed the instructions in the manual (which is pretty poor, since it is just of the drawings), but the new memory is not recognized.

    What can I do else?

    Hello

Strange but perhaps your new RAM module is defective or the second memory location.

Have you tried the new memory module in the first place?
What happens if you put the original 512 MB module in the second slot? The module is recognized?

    Check it!

  • Satellite L500 - second module of memory not recognized

Have installed 2 GB Offtek extra memory in 2nd slot of memory, but it is not recognized by the system--still show only 2 GB installed memory.

    What is the problem?

    Hey,.

I've never heard of RAM modules Offtek

From my own experience, I can say that work really well Kingston memory module and never had a problem with them, they are of high quality modules.

In my opinion, you should try a different RAM module. Maybe it s is not compatible, so it will not be recognized that s my personal opinion.

  • The SanDisk Ultra Plus 64 GB sdxc card memory not recognized by PC even if PC shows these letters to front

SanDisk memory card Ultra Plus sdxc 64 GB not recognized by PC even if PC shows these letters on the front of the hard drive. From time to time I can get it to recognize the memory card but mostly not. Then I manually to the top of my camera (Canon T3i) onto the PC and make my photos to the PC camera is very heavy! Does anyone have this problem? I can't find anything online that answers my question. TYIA solution to anyone.

Simple solution is to buy one of these small memory card readers.  Costs about $5.  Plug the memory card on it.  Plug it into a USB port.

If still not recognized, the memory card must be reformatted or replaced.

  • Compaq Presario SR5010NX: One of the two locations of memory not recognized / work

Had already upgraded RAM from 512 to 1 GB.  In an attempt to level again with a 2nd (identical to the first) 1 GB DDR2 DIMMS, I discovered that the 2nd module of memory was not being recognized.  I also tried with success the new! G in the first taken.  Specification to support up to 2 GB with 1 GB DDR2 DIMMS in each shot. However, "no beeps" and not "start with anything in the second taken.   I also tried two 256 KB RAM modules and as the two 1Gs only the a 256 KB has been recognized.

I also tried to boot with a module in the 2nd outlet only and found that my system wouldn't start.  Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks again for your response.  I went not the CMOS battery. However, your answer made me look on a possible revision of the BIOS through HP customer care.  I downloaded the version of BIOS the same but with a more recent date.

After download and install I shut down my computer, insert the 2nd module of 1 G and made a new shoe.

Happiness is a system of 2 GB Dual Channel now running.

  • Upgrade RAM not recognized by satellite A110

    I have a satellite A110-137 Partnr. PSAB6E-00Z013N5

I use win7 on this computer because it is more stable.
I upgraded my memory to 2048Mb yesterday, but the computer will not register more than one chip 1024Mb.

I tried to use chips in different locations, but no response. It's ok if I insert one 1024 + 512 which is to different brands of chips but ok.
    Then what should I do?

On the side of the download, there is an upgrade of the bios, but only for Vista.
Please help me I'm lost in this mater.

Is that what you saw in the BIOS settings?

Are you sure you are using the compatible RAM modules?

  • Portege 7220 - memory not recognized

My Portege 7220 old does not recognize that there is a memory module. While my other 7140 just works very well with a RAM of 256 MB module. I tried my 64 MB module in the 7140, and it worked fine.

I also tested the RAM of 256 MB of the 7140 module in my 7220, but BIOS still showed that there are 64 MB of RAM.

So, what could be the problem with my 7220 and the extra RAM module?

(Also the cover of the section of memory is missing, but I just put coverage on another laptop on it.)

    Slot's memory may be defective?
I can't remember how many slots that old Portege Hat but I assume there are two of them.
Have you tried to test both of them?

  • Upgrade memory not accepted by Satellite C660

    I installed a 4 GB ram module to upgrade this Satellite C660d C66 (PSC1LE).

When I then try to start the system all that happens is that a flashing cursor appears in the upper left corner of the screen. The configuration system is 4 GB installed. If I put the original memory in the laptop then everything works ok.
I contacted the supplier of the ram module and they sent me a replacement, but exactly the same problem occurred.

    Any notice received with gratitude.

There must be a compatibility problem. What new RAM use? What brand?

RAM upgrade I recommend you to use only high quality modules. The best quality offers Kngston.

Toshiba recommends using 4 GB of RAM with PA3918U-1M4G part number.

  • Satellite L20-153 - upgrade RAM not recognized

    Hi all

I just put an extra 1 GB of RAM in my laptop so there should be 1 and a half GB in there now, but Windows only recognizes 896 MB. When I run pc Wizard it say to me that 1.5 is installed.

Any ideas why Windows XP won't see it, I updated the BIOS and most of the other systems, any help would be appreciated.

    see you soon,

    Hey Buddy,

If PC Wizard recognizes the two RAM modules, I think that more RAM is used for the graphics card and other device devices (shared memory).

Just to be sure, can look in the BIOS the amount of RAM is it recognized? 1.5 GB of RAM, if recognized, everything is ok!

  • Pavilion p6280t: ram memory not recognized

I have 6 GB memory ram installed in p6280t (2 GB x 3 sites).  Only 2 GB is displayed in windows and BIOS.  I tried to replace the sticks of memory in slots - no luck.  I have upgraded to the latest version of the BIOS - still shows only 2 GB.  All three memory sticks are the same part # Kingston.  Any idea what the problem can come and how to fix it?

    Thank you

I found 2 memory locations that work.  I put a 2 GB stick in each of them and now show 4 GB of memory, as well in the BIOS and windows. Locations of memory #2 and #3 seem to be bad.  I decided against buying and installing a new mobo - too expensive and the computer is 5 years.  My computer works acceptable with 4 GB.  Any failure of a major component in the future, I'll scrap computer and buy a new desktop computer.

Thank you all for your help and your suggestions.

  • Recently upgraded memory, not in use

Hi, I have a HP Probook 6555 mobile computer b, which came with 4 GB installed RAM. Operating system is Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. The record said that the maximum memory that can be installed is 8GB.

    I upgraded the RAM 8 GB, DDR3 SODIMM 2x4G.

When I go to system properties, it shows the memory installed as 8 GB, but can be used as on 2.74 GB memory.

When I go to the Task Manager, performance, resource monitor, it shows 5.3 GB as reserved for the material.

I googled a bit and a few people mentioned that I have to remap the memory in the BIOS. The BIOS also indicates the memory installed as 2x4B, but unfortunately the BIOS has no option to remap the memory. The BIOS is updated.

    Can someone please help?

    Thank you very much.

    OK, found the solution.

Nothing to do with the remapping of the BIOS, etc.

Open "msconfig", went to the "boot" tab and click on 'advanced options' ticked 'maximum memory '. After the reboot, now it shows can be used as 7.74 GB memory.

  • upgrade RAM not recognized by BIOS

I have a pavilion dv6t-3100 Entertainment series that I had upgrade the system RAM to 8 GB to 16 GB.  The system startup stops but so too demand placed on the system.  I see that the BIOS didn't recognize the 16 GB but running system and another diagnosis tools to see all the 16 GB.  My question is how do BIOS to recognize the 16 GB of physical RAM?  Should I Flash a BIOS newer or even force him to re - initialize or is it a key sequence / start that will solve this problem?  I hate to give up the extra RAM without a fight.  Thank you, jwillar

All indications are that the system tops out at 8 GB of RAM. You try to stuff 20 pounds of sugar in a 10-pound bag. It is not entirely the BIOS but also material of the motherboard which imposes the limit. It wouldn't do any good to Flash the BIOS, but it can't hurt. I wouldn't try to do it with 16 installed concerts; who would be in trouble. It starts at 8 GB and I mean 2 x 4 GB not just remove a module.

  • External memory not recognized

    Hello world

I just want to clarify that I have read the previous posts on this and I'm still having a problem.  I just bought the "rocket" yesterday (07/04/09)

Windows XP does not see my external memory chip.  I was back to the MTP to MSC.  While MSC, XP sees the "rocket" as a removable device with 4 GB of storage and DPW acknowledges as a "peripheral" (with a nice icon... lol) with 4 GB of storage.  In addition, WMP11 sees either Mode exactly the same way as the Windows one.

The problem is that I bought two external memory chips and none appear anywhere (desktop or WMP11).  I have a PNY MicroSd (4 GB) and a PNY MicroSD (8 GB).  Also, just to be sure... the chip is loaded with plated connectors facing the back of the unit, correct?

There is not yet any sync'd up music is not a matter of loading the MSC music and other music in MTP mode.  My firmware version is 01.01.07A.  I understand there's a 01.01.22. to update out now, but I don't him have not yet downloaded.

    Help, please!

    ~ Rich

I had a lot of trouble when I had my initial microsdhc card. Make sure it is recessed in the case of the rocket, you fell with a click. When you eject it it will be as a button that is depressed when he is in a position, when you go to put it up (or disable) you feel he's going or down a little bit more before coming without the locking mechanism.

Additionally, make sure that the cards are in the format. SDHC, it is recommended that FAT32 is used, see:

  • Memory not recognized for computer laptop dv5020

Laptop older specifies 2 GB max memory, but when I install 2 GB (1 x 1 modules) it will only recognize 1 GB.  A scanner memory shows one of the RAM slots is empty even when I swap modules.  I was wondering if there was a configuration switch that I would need to change if she recognizes the two slots?  Both are full, but we show that it is empty.

The system is 64 bit AMD running XP Home edition with Service Pack 3.

    Hello

Remove 1 of your memory modules and check if it is recognized in slot 1 and slot 2 - try also with just one module of memory.  Each single module is recognized in each slot?

It might be useful to reset the default settings of the bios as follows.

Judgment of the laptop.  Tap here to f10 as soon as you start Notepad to open the menu of the bios.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

    Kind regards
