Original title: VMWARE Player, what went right?

All of a sudden, VMWare Player [Win XP it] recognized and installed my printer HP LJ P1100w.  This, after being informed by them, by phone, that this freebie version does not support any usbs in addition to human and internal interface.  So, I decided to try to install my Deskjet 5400. I got a download HP upgrade package, uninstalled the existing software and Lo! VM has ask me to cut the host device and install it. Test page printed.

What I want to know, since I can't get the response from VMWare, is how is it? There have not been updated for ages.

  • VMware Player 5.0.1 - USB no driver found error.

    Hello

I searched for quite a while around the forum, but none of the discussions have solved my problem.

Whenever I try to connect a device (SanDisk Cruzer 32 GB) USB to my guest OS (Windows XP Professional SP3 - 32 bit) I get an error of the VMware Player, saying that no driver can be found. My host OS (Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1 - 64-bit) can recognize the USB device and VMware because the name of the device is displayed in a dialog box when I start my virtual OS.  My computer (DELL XPS 15 L501X) uses the USB 3.0 ports, but I lowered the compatibility of USB 2.0 on VMware (see attached image) as Winbdows XP does not support USB 3.0.

I also tried to download Windows XP USB drivers, but it won't let me install on my virtual machine. I am able to run CD / DVD on my virtual computer and there seems to be some USB already installed on the computer, virtual drivers. (see attached image) VMware tools is installed on the virtual OS aswell.

I appriciate any suggestions on how to solve this problem, so I can use the USB on my virtual machine.

    Thank you very much

    Joe.

You may need to use a USB Hub connected to the PC 2.0, and then plug the device in in order to access the Windows XP virtual machine.  BTW, this is one of the standard in the case when the host has USB 3.0 even when you adjust the USB settings in VMware products.  Also you can try to change the settings of the host USB BIOS to 2.0, as appropriate.

  • Do I need work station to modify USB devices? You can also VMware Player...

    That's what I would do:

Install VMware Player on Windows 7 evaluation version

I have to configure a modem USB (ISDN-telephone line)

Can I add this USB device to my virtual guest later in VMware Player?

I feel like the installation of VMware Workstation for just add this USB device installation. I have no experience of using VMware Player. I've always had of VMware Workstation to support me in everything I've done, that's why I ask.

I can only imagine that maybe VMware Player will limit to deal with the addition of devices/units, but what is the truth?

Peripheral USB themselves act as plug-and-play.  As long as you have configured the virtual computer to have a USB controller and have installed the drivers (via VMware Tools) in the comments, you can attach any USB device to the guest with workstation, player, server, Fusion, etc..

Workstation already includes the UI player interface so that you can test your VMS how they will be displayed to users who have installed Player.  There should be a shortcut installed for it.  You can run your VM via player INTERFACE and to answer to your question here, I think.

  • Debian Linux Bootloader and VMware Player and Windows 8.1

I installed VMware on laptop windows 8.1 and begins installation of Debian Linux.

Warnings about partitions and especially the bootloader potentially make my laptop not boot gave me cold feet so I bypassed the charger installation of.

At this point Windows system seems to be intact.

So here's my question. If I come back and install the boot loader, boot linux OS only when I press on play on VMware Player or it will make windows unbootable?

If the latter, how do I install the bootloader on a USB?

    Hi again, plc775!

Severe warnings are because the operating system has no idea that it is inside a virtual machine comfortably insulated from the rest of your host.  As long as you created the virtual machine in a pretty normal way (for example, by using the instructions in your other post) and did not have something really unusual (for example, through a physical disk from the host to the virtual machine), hard disk of the virtual machine is quite secluded and the guest is unable to make your host does not start and you can go ahead and install this Bootstrapper on the hard disk of the virtual machine.

(By the way, I noticed that you post in the forum VMware ESXi 5... I'll make both of your messages on the VMware Player forum, where they will receive a more appropriate audience.)

    See you soon,.

  • How to create a computer virtual file VHD using VMWare Player?

I created a .vhd file using disk2vhd which contains my drive system (a Windows 7 installation). I would like to create a virtual machine using VMware Player of this image, but I have been unable to do. Can someone help me?

    Thank you very much

    Mike

You were quite right about the execution of my VM from an external drive USB - no problem at all.

    Today experiences confirm that:

    (a) I can run my VMS on Windows 7 and Windows 8 from an external USB

    (b) VMPlayer can create files hard greater than 2 TB in size (on Windows 7 and Windows 8 guests)

    (c) I can't reach my Data.VHDX file on my Windows 8 host

    (d) I can set up as a shared folder inside my VM on Windows 8

    (e) I can copy files from the shared folder to a drive on my virtual machine.

Certainly, this closes this discussion - thanks a lot for your help.

  • No options to create what anyone in vmware player 2.2.5

    Hey people

Now, I have to admit that I don't think that vmware player allows you to make the new virtual machine, but after reading the user manual / google it seems it don't...

Anyway, so I downloaded the latest version 2.2.5 for my win7 / 64-bit... When I open it I only have the option to open or remove it from the virtual machine. According to the manual, I should have a button file which will allow me to create virtual machines.

I had a quick glance on google and I could see another person has had a similar problem and they just reinstalled again... I tried...

The only thing that I can click on more 'open', 'Download' is the top vmware player. Console, devices and utility are grayed out if it means something?

The main reason for me using vmware player is I use virtualbox and it does not support USB, I need... so initially I exported my Virtualbox VM for a. OVA file but when I load it in vmware player it just sits at the splash screen... After research it seems to be a common problem... so I'm happy to start over and create a new virtual machine in Vmware player... which brings me to the question of how I actually find the file button to do =)?

I reinstalled / restarted as he asked... I don't encounter any errors during installation, so I don't know what I have to do?

I don't want to install vmware workstation for reasons that we don't need to go into

    Any help would be great

    Thank you

Version 2.2.5 is not the latest version... simply the most recent version of the 2.x branch.  You use a link to the old, obsolete, direct download page.  I brought to attention before VMware people but no response... I'll try again.

  • VMware player 5 - connection in bridge problem

    Hi all!

I am writing because I have a very big problem with the network bridged in Vmware player 5.0.2. No matter what I do it just would not work. NAT and host options only work very well and there is no problem with them. My NIC has vmware bridge Protocol, 'automatic connection settings' and "virtual network editor" is set on this particular card. The only thing I can think is firewall (Norton 360) that can block the connection but all of the vmware software components are allowed to work and NAT service works, so I don't know if this could be the case. I would be very grateful for any advice.

I have attached the PDF with screenshots showing my configuration.

Norton PS options are in Polish, but they essentially say that Vmware is allowed and that inbound netBIOS' / netBIOS name "communication and communication incoming/outgoing ICMP is blocked.

P.S in case of faults of vocabulary and that I'm sorry. p

No, NIC in the host is virtualized / ripped off by the monitor of machine virtual and presented to the customer in a standard way - always cable.  It doesn't matter if the host is using wired or wireless.  Was just letting you know that you can use specific tools wireless in your guest on a virtual NETWORK adapter in this way.  The only way to get into a wireless client is to use a USB wireless adapter and attach that to the guest.  There will of course have to then the drivers for the USB NIC you use.

  • VMware player misunderstood technology?

    Hello!

Please tell me who is misunderstood the topic of virtualization - me or VMware?

I mean it seems that assistance to the players on the server is too complicated. A lot of server software and stuff to maintain.

And the fact (from my understanding) that only the windows can be virtualized?

So if I have a small business and want to have my employees to work on the virtual desktops for 'all' hosts 4 OS (Windows, Linux, Solaris and Mac OS x) and will require a redirection of USB for the MacOSX (for iPhone/iPad development) I'm out in the cold (with player) then?

Are there any alternatives or is desktop virtualization, in reality, impossible?

    Best regards

  • Minecraft on VMWare Player

I'm having the problem with the mouse / time playing Minecraft (MC) on VMWare. The problem has to do with the mouse is not getting locked for VMWare and MC window.

Normal when you play MC mouse locked himself in the middle of the window of MC. Even when you move the mouse left, right, up, down, the mouse cursor are always located in the middle of the MC window. So when you press ESC to leave the menu of your mouse cursor appears in the middle of the MC window.

When playing in a VMWare window all seems fair, but the mouse cursor will move to the left and the right and do not keep it is developed in the middle of the MC. So if I move to the right and press ESC, I will NOT see the cursor of the mouse in the middle of MC, but it has moved to the right.

This also disrupts the MC client, because it puts move my tank right even after I've stopped moving the mouse. Guess that's because the MC client detects cursor are not in the middle of MC and think it's because I'm moving the mouse.

If I move the mouse quite long to one side, it came out from the windows of VMWare and I can use it on my PC. From what I found, VMWare had an automatic grab/ungrab the mouse when you get off focus on / VMWare window. So what I'm looking for is a way to disable this feature. So you need to use Ctrl-Alt to release the mouse from the windows of VMware.

Anyone who can help me with the settings to achieve this?

I came across basically the same question:

    Summary of the problem:

Playing minecraft or other game on a guest OS virtual machine, the mouse control becomes so bad that it is unmanageable, while the same game on the host what OS runs without problem.

SE host: Windows 7, 32 bit

Guest OS: Windows 7, 32 bit

Product VMware: VMware Player 5.0.2 build-1031769

    Details:

When I first set up a VMware and run minecraft, I had a serious problem of cursor. Once I moved the mouse, navigation of the screen would be constantly navigate in this direction until I turned my mouse to a theoretical Center. With any kind of sensitivity, the effect has been almost instantly rebound entirely upward or low, like in this video:

Minecraft in VMWare Player XP Pro Glitch - YouTube

The essential difference between the host, the game operating system and the OS to run the guest game is the programmatic framework of the cursor. The host operating system will constantly reset the cursor to the center of the screen, but the guest OS never reset. I guess it's because the VMware driver is overwhelming this control so that the guest OS cursor follows the cursor of host operating system.

    Workaround solution:

It seems high or paid services like workstation allows "configuration of the games" with the Edit-> preferences-> input function-> optimize for games-> always, but none this option doesn't exist on the free VMware Player. The only solution is to bypass the VMware driver somehow, and I found the easiest way is to reinstall the mouse with a Standard of Port PS/2 mouse driver and disable the other virtual VMware USB pointing devices.

I don't know if there is an option in VMware Player that I'm missing? Or maybe a mouse driver full feature is part of the value proposition for workstation and other paid products?

  • A machine virtual de VMware player can be saved on an external HDD for backup?

Please allow me to set up the scene: I have a shadow PC from my main system on VMware Player

I try an update on my 1st VM player. The update for my distro of choice borks the system, or at least a very important application. My corrections to the application can do worse things & this my system borks. I then delete the virtual machine.

Now after this deletion, I do a reinstall Virtual complete. Then wait and see if a fix is coming in the next update.

If I copy/home/username/vmware/opensuse to an external USB HARD drive.

Is it possible after deleting a virtual machine in the drive to go to my USB and pick up my copy of opensuse in/home/username/vmware/and have it function like the old?

    Hey there,

You can stop to the bottom of the virtual machine, copy the VM on your external HARD drive and be prepared to restore it if it breaks.

  • With the help of VMWare Player in internet cafes

I'm hoping to take a virtual machine from a development environment rudimentary vacationing European cycling for emergency repair work (SQL Server, Microsoft Access, etc.). I had intended to put the virtual machine on a S200 personal IronKey 16 GB Secure Flash Drive: https://www.ironkey.com/personal.

I would use this VM in internet cafes. Is it possible to run the virtual machine without installing the player on PC for a coffee? For example, it is possible to rotate the player from the same flash player?

    Thank you.

VMware Player must be properly installed on the host system. Also running the VMS in a drive USB Flash can be very slow with a lot of latency, and I wouldn't recommend well it's certainly doable.
