USB 2 TPT connector cover

I just bought a flash of the discrete form of the 64 GB Cruzer drive. I intend to leave inserted in the connector on the Thinkpad.

This brings me to two questions-

  • How to permanently remove the cover of the USB connector
  • How to reattach it if I lose the Cruzer Fit

Any help appreciated

Thank you

Need to disassemble the TPT2 case to remove the cover of the USB connector at all times.

  • HP Pavilion: Before port USB on HP desktop computer has stopped working

My HP desktop computer is about 2 years old and has two USB ports on the front and a number on the back. I had no problem with any of the ports until I used a USB in the port now broken and caused a power outage that now this port doesn't recognize any USB device.  It says "USB device not recognized.  The last USB device you connected to this computer worked badly and Windows does not recognize. »

I tried to uninstall and reinstall the USB ports on the Device Manager and have lived all the suggestions on the HP support site and the Microsoft support site. The defective USB key must have caused damage to the track. I hope you can suggest something that I can do to get it working again.

    Hello

The only port on the front is damaged. The USB key must have damaged only this USB port. I'd like to reuse this memory bar.

You need to replace the USB module, two ports USB 3.0 of housing as the two front ports use the same module and connections to the motherboard.

You will probably need to go to HP for the part.

You should be able to get access to the component by removing the front bezel. Remove the side panel also. You should see the connection of the cable and add him the USB 3.0 connector front on the motherboard.

Yes, okay, USB has always been designed with backwards compatibility in mind so even if the USB 3.0 connector is different from 1.0 and 2.0 connectors, it will still work with them. You simply don't will not be able to benefit from the speed 3.0 was designed to produce.

  • Information about the laptop ports (USB, HDMI, etc.)?

I am currently looking a 17z-e100 portable Pavilion to customize and order. However, I can't find any information about the laptop ports. I need a HDMI output and 3 USB connectors and transfer large files on my key USB regularly, at least a USB 3.0 is necessary (with 2 USB 2.0 connectors).

I was looking at the specs on another Web site, and they claimed that it includes 1 HDMI, 2 USB 3.0 connectors and 1 USB 2.0 connector, but it's a slightly different model so I would like to get my information from the manufacturer.

So my question is, what are the ports are included? HDMI, USB, Audio, etc.

Also, the "Contact/Email HP" option on the site seems broken, because some required fields have no space to fill. I tried on two different browsers.

  • 13 9350 XPS - SSD USB C 3.1 - very unstable/no usable

A few weeks ago, I got a laptop XPS 13. And it's a great machine.

With the exception of a problem.

I have a PNY 128 GB SSD connected to an interface of Startech USB 3.1 with a USB type C connector.

When I plug it in, the system maintains the recognize and then not recognized it, infinity ad. Windows fires each time. The drive is unusable. Note that we open via USB 3, this works very well.

I installed all the drivers a BIOS (1.4.3) updates and the latest updates of Windows 10. Note that I installed the driver of e/s series of Dell, but whenever I come back to see if there are more drivers, the IO series driver needs to update again. It seems to never take.

Notice that before the 10 windows updates, it was more stable.

Also if I boot to the safe is seems a lot better.

I have very little installed on the system. Only things Microsoft (office 365, OneDrive). This is a new installation.

    Derek

I had a problem similar to this with my Dell USB - C to mini adapter HDMI/VGA/Ethernet/USB3.1. I called Dell and after 2 hours, they were able to fix. Apparently (don't ask me why) the adapter USB - C and WiFi are kind of material and power wise. If you go to the options of the advance of the WiFi adapter and change the WiFi output at 75%, this solves a lot of problems with the connection / disconnection of USB - C questions. Exit at 75% reduction does not affect your connection on wireless networks. Apparently Intel is aware of this problem and institute a fix in the next update of driver for the XPS13 which is supposed to reach the end of the summer.

I hope it works for you.

The update of the IO series driver who seems to never stop smoking is also another question, I noticed. I don't worry about this. I have as well, and the Serial i/o driver version is the most recent driver. It's like there is a bug when it scans the computer for driver updates.

  • All new XPS 8900, card mother USB3.0 connector question

    Hello

I just got my 8900 XPS nine this week, as a replacement for my Inspiron 530 s who died after 8 years of good service (my previous post on the Dell Community is older than 8 years...). This is the high-end with GTX 960, SSD, 2 TB HDD, 256 MB video card configuration.

I have a little problem with it and would appreciate an outside opinion on this:

Yesterday, I opened my 8900 XPS in order to add an additional HARD drive. In the process, I noticed that the hypothesis of fan 960 GTX is pressing firmly against the front, USB 3.0 cable, to the point of the plug is slightly flexed. In addition, the cable is slightly clogging the fan 960 GTX. I was a little displeased with this, as it's clearly inappropriate cable routing. Apart from that, all other cables inside the XPS 8900 are very neatly.

I removed the GTX 960 (this is necessary in order to remove the HDD cage) and then realized that the façade, USB 3.0 cable is too short, and the plug is very wobbly. I tried to pull gently, to detach the cable and find a better way to move. It seems that the USB 3.0 (the light blue plastic part) is not attached to the motherboard! I noticed the fixing clip, and while pressing it, I lifted the CAP slightly (about 3mm). But decision-making would not unclip and come out as well as the plug. Fear of bending a PIN, I pushed the plug in and gave up trying to detach. Then, I installed the HARD drive and put everything back in, as it was.

The computer works well. The two façades USB work normally (tested with an external drive USB 2.0). Given that I've already migrated all my data and started to use the computer, I would really dislike having to send it back just for that, unless the issue is a threat of failure in the future...

    My questions are the following:

-Is it normal that the plastic of the motherboard USB 3.0 connector tip is just pressed (not glued to the motherboard)? If this is not the case, do you think that it has to be fixed or if I can live with it?

-Do you think I can replace the cable USB-Panel, with a more long (is it standard?) and thus solve the problem for good?

    Thank you!!!

On mine I disconnected the end of the motherboard and routed it bends 90 degrees and below the map.  To do this I had to unplug it and leave that he unplugged while I routed the flat cable.  Then insert a GTX960 and screwed the card holder in.  With the cable stuck the card in the back, I reconnected it into the motherboard.   I agree that this cable is too short.  Unfortunately, the motherboard connector is microscopic pines which are easily bent or broken.  While I did once, I wouldn't do it again.  This isn't a standard 20-pin connector of the Panel before USB3.

Worse still, the photos DO NOT see THE real manual 8900 service within a 8900.

The black usb cable into the blue micro 20 connector pins on the motherboard is not displayed in all images.

I am computer stupid hope if you can understand what I'm talking about. Thank you!

    Hello

The damage is most likely more cosmetics.

Damage to the front of the USB 2.0 connector or wiring has probably occurred. A short wiring/USB connection could be fed to the bottom of your PC. Not a good thing for the health of your system. More damage can occur if left.

Have a reputable local PC tech take a look or contact HP support for service.

A quick fix to avoid any further damage would be to shut the system down, open the box and wire USB front header on the motherboard. Then disconnect the wire to the USB header.

  • What converter to usb 2.0 cable connects to a sidewinder 3D pro joystick 15-pin gameport in addition?

I want to connect the controller on a PC with no game port, only USB under Windows 7 Home Premium.  I need to find an appropriate converter cable, so I can check if the gamepad will work.

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I have done some research on this recently and cam on this.

The answer to that is a bit complicated.

MS produced a joystick (followed by "3D Pro") which has been converted (boxed) as "precision Pro" However if you looked under the name embossed control lever was "3D Pro Plus.  This joystick is not easily compatible USB.  The follow-up of the joystick, which looked identical, was marked below as 'Precision Pro' and it came with a simple USB adapter (as simple as just a series of wires that connect the game Joystick Port and a USB key).

Obviously care must be taken when buying or the other of these second hand as most sellers describe the item based on the name used in the box that has been 'Precision Pro'.  But I think that this last unit compatible USB had written on the box.

Individual units can be identified by the name embossed on the underside of the unit and the first 5 letters of the product (also below) Id:

Product ID: 97482-xxx is a "3D Pro Plus" - NOT USB compatible.

Product ID: 85791-xxx is a 'Precision Pro' - compatible with a simple adapter USB.

The follow-up of the 'precision Pro' was the ' precision 2 "was only USB but this was a new physical unit and would suffer the more static accumulation of problems as its predecessor and had removed the shift.»

All of these units were reportedly USB 1.x, which should be usable on a USB 2.0 connector.

    Dear Experts!

I may be able to keep the device run faster the message, but if I know that USB 2.0 connectors, you need to use it but not at full speed. Idea?
And another question can I post messages disappear at startup? Connected permanently front USB not display, and the chassis fan not (really they are not connected, the fans go to the thermometer to control information, before us, because you don't need kids )

  • How can I connect a USB 2.0 device to a port 3.0 successfully?

my printer has a USB 2.0 connector and my computer has USB 3.0 ports; Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Yesterday it was working, but now it does not work. I have a document in the queue that was never printed, and I can't remove the document, not even restart my computer.

Is that what I can do to work around this problem?

    LC

    It's probably not a 2.0 > 3.0 issue because 3.0 is backward compatible.  More likely, it's a driver problem.

Most often when a device does not work, it is because the driver is damaged.  Re-install a new copy should help
