USB drives not appearing is not in my computer, even if they can access

This problem happened for years and there were so far no possible way to fix it.

When I have a USB device is plugged, the folder on the drive does not appear in the post. Yet it appears in the Device Manager or in devices and printers. If I type in the drive letter (H: /) in Windows Explorer, it works.

Also, in devices and printers, the "Browse files" option is grayed out and I can not access network drives - I can't get C to G (E being my DVD player and G being my external hard drive). It only works if I type in the drive letter.

Is it possible I have USB drives appear in my work so that I don't have to type the letter to? I tried USBs on my other computer and it works fine.

My CD and DVD players no longer appear when I choose 'My Computer' and that they do not recognize any disk inserted. Did this happen when I had an update Windows online? Or a security update? How can I repair quickly and get back in the business? These drives came with my Dell Pentium 4 computer and are not external drives, by the way. And how can I keep it doesn't happen?

Asked me to take over the COMPUTER Department of a small Christian school. They are running SBS 2003. They bought licences for additional client access in 2004, but they are not loaded to the server and they can't find the hard copy of the licenses to load them in. Also, they purhcased of XP Pro and Office 2003 licenses (I have the disks and keys to install but do not know how many licenses they own) and they are not either of the paper copy of these licenses. Is there a way to contact Microsoft to get the licenses? Any help would be appreciated.

original title: recover lost Volume Licensing

    I just figured this out...

I called the 1-866-230-0560 Option 3 Volume licenses and talked to someone who searched under the name of the school in order to locate licenses. It is even searched under our zip code and found other licenses that have been purchased by the school where the dealer abbreviated the name of the school.

I hope that this is useful information to others in the same situation.

  • USB drive not appearing is not in the T610

I got a USB standard with some of the files it contains.

The image that I use on the T610 is the last image (6.1.7601.279)

In administrator mode, I am able to save and display the files on the USB key. In user mode, the driver installs successfully but I can't display the USB when I click on computers. I don't see the Z disk.

I searched and found that I can turn on USB storage media or off in the registry. The value of the key is set correctly (3).

Now I don't have what I can do to get this working.

    Any advice?

    Thanks in advance

The user account has political explore to lock the profile - including what readers are visible.  In this case, the NoDrives policy is configured to allow only Z:.  Load the user registry hive, NoDrives to include the drive letter of your USB drive and unload the hive for the user.

  • El Capitan - Ext. USB Drive not mounting

Since the upgrade to El Capitan, I have not been able to access my external USB drive. I read the other posts about this problem and none of their solutions worked for me. Through repeated trial and error, I came across a solution that allowed me to access my USB drive in El Capitan. By attaching a USB hub to USB port and your device your drive should become accessible. Depending on what type of car you join you may need a powered hub. I enclose a mSATA drive to a hub powered and well.

    Hi Bob, there.

Looks like you're having connect your USB drive to a hub so that it works with your computer. I would reset your PRAM then your SMC in this order:

How to reset the NVRAM on your Mac.

    Then:

Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.

If the problem persists after that I have would then start in safe mode to clear some system-level caches and perform a disk check and repair if necessary:

Follow these steps to start in safe mode.

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
    3. Release the SHIFT key when you see the logo Apple appears on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, this may take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your office. This is because your Mac performs a check of directory of your drive to boot in safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

From: try safe mode if your Mac does not start-up

Once you log in safe mode, reboot normally and try again the reader. Thank you for using communities of Apple Support, let us know how it goes.

  • USB drive not readable on the Satellite A665-13W

    Hello

I have the following problem. I have Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 64 GB (USB 3.0) by car and it is perfectly readable on other PCs without worrying if I connect it to the USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 ports.

The device is detected in Windows 7 64-bit on Toshiba Satellite A665-13W and I see it in Device Manager. He invites me to open the disk E: (NTFS volume), but it looks empty when I open it in Explorer Windows with a certain delay when Explorer seems to scan drive.

I see some errors in the event viewer such as:
Event ID 11: driver has detected an error in the controller on \Device\Harddisk1\DR2

But when I connect for example Patriot 8 GB USB drive it works without problem. When I boot Windows 7 in safe mode, the Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 64 GB drive is connected, and I can read it.

What should I do to make it readable without going into safe mode?

I have the latest BIOS 2.30, I tried to enable/disable USB legacy support, I tried the fast/normal startup, I tried to install the latest Intel Chipset drivers, I tried all USB ports, including one that can be used as eSATA port, but without success. I also uninstalled the recognized device driver and let Windows detect the device again and reinstall the driver, but also without success. I also disabled power management option to disable device, without success.

When I start in normal mode, I can't read NTFS volume. When I boot in safe mode I can read. The USB works on other PC in normal mode. Old USB 2.0 USB key works in normal mode. Strange. It must be a firmware problem or driver in my opinion. If it is a hardware problem or device the device would not work in safe mode!

Are USB 3.0 64 GB of storage devices that are compatible with Toshiba laptops with USB 2.0 ports?

There could be a problem of compatibility between the USB controller and the USB key.
    This compatibility questions aren't unusual.

But I m wondering if you could try to fix this in the other direction:
First check to see if the USB flash memory stick would appear in disk management

    Panel-> management-> disk management computer

Here you will see all the partitions on the HARD disk and the USB connected.
Check if you can format the USB key once more.

If the USB does not appear here, try this method:
Start the console by typing CMD
Then type the command: diskpart and press enter
Now, type command: automount enable and press enter

Now, close all windows and restart the laptop.

  • external USB drives not recognized under xp pro 64

I bought a genuine version of XP Pro 64 to load on my computer and because Win 7 froze with drivers nVidia graphics.

When I plug a recently bought Seagate Goflex or one of the new Western Digital external hard drives, they are not recognized.

They do not show on my computer or disk management at all.

They appear in Device Manager with a yellow question mark big under 'other devices '.

I right click on the hard drive in the Device Manager to update the driver, and it always fails.

Before ask you, these USB drives work perfectly on my other XP Home 32 System. The cables are good.

I tried different ports, front and rear... no good.

My system XP 64 Prp is updated w/Windows update and software chip to the motherboard.

Strangely, I have a hard drive WD Passport USB 500 Gb one-year-old that works fine on XP 64 system.

WD technicians say that I am the only one with this problem. PlugNPlay needs no driver, what do say.

I also have IDE/SATA USB cable w / the power cable, I use to connect my old internal drives.

Works fine on the XP Home 32, but I get the error "USB to ATA/ATAPI Bridge" in the device with the 64-bit System Manager.

Yes these devices are all "turned on."

Something is missing on the XP 64 system.

    Help is very appreciated.

Been looking for a solution for a week now.

    Thank you.

  • HP ProtectTools encryption recovery disk: USB drive not recognized

I encrypted hard drives of a couple of notebooks HP Elitebook 8560p using HP ProtectTools drive encryption. Saved 4GB USB DRIVE formatted FAT32 discs recovery keys. BIOS and latest available drive encryption versions today.

Today I decided to test the functionality of recovery. So, when the BitLocker Drive login screen appears at the start, I select Recovery. Then I click on browse to find the recovery on the USB drive key. However, the USB is not visible doesn't help not hit 'refresh readers '. I tested it on two laptops. The system simply does not see the USB drive at this stage (works very well under Windows). Any ideas? I lived the most obvious BIOS settings.

An update on a case where someone has the same problem:

The USB key is recognized and everything works fine if the laptop is in its docking station, and the USB is connected to the USB port of the docking station.

  • USB drive not recognized on the A30-151 in XP

After a clean install of Windows XP Pro on a Satellite A30 151, a USB device remains in the category 'Other' (after installation of the graphics and audio drivers, modem) for which no driver seems to be available on the drivers CD. At this point, the category "USB" contains four entries, two standard "Universal Host Controllers" and two "OpenHost' controllers, with the default drivers.
I suspect that the missing device can be a USB 2.0 "PCI controller host improved USB" from another manufacturer, but Toshiba does not offer a driver for XP for it then it should be supported by the OS (?).
Any suggestions as to what can be and what drivers need?

It turns out that XP does support USB 2.0 according to the SP1, it seems a pre - SP1 version of XP Pro leads the native Windows drivers is not available. For anyone in a similar situation, it seems as if a) upgrade to SP1 or b) install the hotfix Q312370)

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Q312370_WXP_SP1_x86_ENU.exe

for the English version should throw a lot of download sites) followed by the autodetection of the native Windows drivers should do the trick. However, the following SP1 problem may come into play

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/FAQ.jsp?service=EU&FID=TRO0000001c0d

in this case, the "NEC PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller B1" driver required original can be found by searching for "USB driver" for "Windows 2000" for the Satellite A30 Toshiba driver download page.

  • external USB drive not seen

    Hello

I just bought a Readynas RN212 as a replacement for my Duo (v1). But the external USB drive (Toshiba 2.5 inch, ext3), that I used as backup for my Duo and always worked perfectly, is not recognized in the RN212.

I have ssh - ed at the RN212 and did a manual mount: mount-t ext3/dev/sdb1/mnt which worked. The player ends up in/run/udev/data.

    Any idea what's going on?

    Kind regards

    Eric

    Hello espakman,

This USB has data on the volume of your old Duo? If it is possible to format, use the NTFS system.

If it contains all the data, it's that it may be preferable that you contact support for the RN212 so it can be verified from the backend.

    Kind regards

  • My sm bus controller and controller USB driver not there (read for detailed explanations)

I have a laptop, it was windows 8.0 and I upgraded to 8.1, I didn't like it at all so I lowered it to win7 because it was laggy and the displayed text was fuzzy. I knew that something was wrong with the installation of windows 8 and even after a clean full format, he would not return to normal. I went and he downgraded because I had enough and know that windows 7 would be faster for this pc (which it was), I said yaay sound much smoother and faster with no problems.  Then I installed all the wifi, bluetooth drivers, mouse etc... only 2 things that I couldn't install was the bus controller SM and USB bus controller driver (USB). And my usb slots were not working other than port 3.0 I had a plugged usb of decommissioning...

I know its something to do with the bios and since the update of the bios is 8 - 8.1 windows only I don't know what to do... I have a .wim file recovery and I don't know how to use it. I also forgot to put my product key of my pc of win8 before I went down I had no knowledge of what happen and don't think it would be a problem...  Now I can't connect more than 1 thing at a time. I went on the microsoft forums and they fixed a problem (ethernet driver) and told me to come here and I hope you can fix the rest.

Thanks to adnvaced for your help
