USB to pcmcia?

Greetings,

Just got a new computer @ work & it's not a PCMCIA slot.  I do a lot of development using 6036 series cards, PCI and PCMCIA.  Did anyone tried a USB to PCMCIA with the DAQCard-6036E multi i/o?

Speaking of something similar to this... http://www.elandigitalsystems.com/USB/U111.php

Thanks in advance,

Rob

Hello Rob,

Here's another thread that relates to your question.

Kind regards

OK so I bought a Linksys WPC100 which is a map of connection Wi - Fi G CardBus PCMCIA cardbus.

It's interesting in the local BestBuy the majority of (USB and PCMCIA) adapters does not list Vista as one of the systems they support. Also strangely even those with a Vista Certified logo the majority does not list Vista as one of their supported operating systems. Clearly something non-intuitive to be certified Vista or the specifications of the box are usually not correct. I got the list of drivers from the Linksys web site with me and it didn't correlate even as a subset or a superset with certification or registration with the operating system as support of Vista. In fact not a single adapter had all three factors, a driver available on the linksys website, certification and operating system listed as supported. Go to this by now mild frustration I bet on the WPC100. The driver on the disk installed and used the Vista Business card form.

When the computer is started with the installed card (I did not test the behavior with the night before and sleep or insertion during execution is enough for the moment to say) then the map appears as a second wireless adapter. Connection Manager indicates that the integrated map of AGN is either disabled by the switch hardware or BIOS and Connection Manager does not work. It's OK. At least we know where we are and the connections are not visible by Vista is from the PCMCIA card.

Unfortunately, problems with the access point has continued so this whole exercise has shown me is that the problem is related to using Vista with the access point and not the hardware or driver (unless the problem is common to both drivers). Thus, one step forward and one step backward. As usual, the real cause of our time wasting is Vista, but for those who have a reason to try, you can install a separate adapter, it's just that you can not use Connection Manager to switch between them on the basis for example, location.

  • T23 Dongle USB or PCMCIA Sierra card

I have a T23 that isn't wireless model. I have no intention to dismantle to install no matter what Interior wireless gizmo, so I'm considering 2 options... 1 sierra GSM PCMCIA 2. ZTE USB high speed GSM Stick I purchased a data plan GSM to an ISP, but I'm confused about what material is best for the T23. I am concerned about the power of traction on the T23, but don't know if I should be. Also, is there a performance difference that I should consider, re: physiological versus PCMCIA USB? NB: My T23 has USB 1.1 ports, but I own a bus... card if Sabrent USB 2.0 that helps with the recommendation.

Well, no one seemed interested to help me on this, so I decided to take a chance with a (Rogers Rocket stick) USB dongle.

    • On the Sabrent USB 2 card, the dongle has not worked.
    • On the T23 USB 1.1, the dongle worked, but he wasn't happy here. Important when response times on the internet.
    • Received a card PCMCIA 881 Sierra (now cheap) and it worked very well. Better than the dongle from afar and the software that comes with the Sierra Watcher is far superior to the Rogers Communication Manager.

For those looking to use an old series of T on the new Rogers high speed GSM network, the Sierra would be my recommendation. I use the dongle on my desktop and it works very well there.

  • Questions about the use of an external audio card (PCMCIA or USB)

    Hi all

We know most or all W510 or other models of ThinkPad with Conexant HD SmartAudio 20585 are affected by the poor quality of the sound.

I have a few questions to ask, because I have not used or tried before external sound card.

1 - is the external PCMCIA / its USB, card work with speakers inside the machine?

    2. If the built-in speaker can work with external PCMCIA / USB sound card, is the sound quality and volume of music being improved?

    Thank you

    Peter

    Hi PeterTWJ,

    (1) would like to know what you mean by work with the built-in speakers? u means you want to use an external sound card to drive the speaker built into the laptop?

I want to say that external USB sound/PCMCIA card does the built-in speaker allows you only to speaker external drive.

I tried the smartaudio/volume control. You can set default 1...

  • Portege R100 - question about the installation of the USB port and Windows problems

    Hello

I just bought a used Portege R100, but I have some problems. Of course the laptop isn't a CD or DVD, player so I tried an external DVD drive, but it did not work. What kind of device I have to install Windows (not an edition of recovery or anything like that, but a whole new windows on the formatted HARD drive)?

I also have another problem: whenever I plug a USB device (I tried the DVD drive external and a USB keyboard) when I start the laptop, it seems to hang. At least, I am not able to type anything more; the keyboard of the laptop is dead (the point where the entrance would still be flashing in the BACK platform, but typing. sth on the keyboard isn't doing anything). It is not normal, is it?

I also tried to get to the BIOS, but I tried various commands (F1 to F12, DEL etc.), but I couldn't access the BIOS. It would be great if someone could tell me the command for it.

Thanks in advance for the help and sorry for the bad English, I'm not a native speaker :)

  • Satellite Pro L300 - PCMCIA adapter

    Hello.

I use a Toshiba laptop L300 downgraded from Vista to XP Pro.

It is equipped with a card reader Express. I need to be able to use a PCMCIA drive to burn software on flash cards. I had 2 X Express Card to PCMCIA online converters, but they don't read flash card. The laptop seems to recognize convertor but not the flash memory card. Is there such a thing as a USB to PCMCIA reader.

I think that the problem with the two that I bought is that they are for 32-bit cards, and mine is a 16 bit card.
The card is manufactured by M-Systems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes, they are available, search for "USB to PCMCIA Adapter.

    And here's one I found: http://www.elandigitalsystems.com/usb/u111530.php

  • PORTEGE R100 CD-ROM recovery problem

Hi, I had a few problems of recovery PORTEGE R100. My problem is that when I try to reinstall the system with the recovery of the boot disk CD, it does not recognize the CD. The CD-ROM is not a TOSHIBA product. Is there any solution for this?

    Hello

It will be interesting to know if your external CD is a USB or PCMCIA device.

You must make a Windows startup disk and add drivers for your CD-ROM BACK drive and then you should be able to recover the machine with this CD.

  • Portege 3440CT OS install problems

    Hello
Just decided to dig my 3440 ct that has Windows 98se on it and reformat an update with XP. He has only 64 MB at the moment, but I thought that if all goes well, then I would switch to 192 MB and whack in a disk that is larger than the original drive 6 gb for the moment. I have the floppy a usb card pcmcia (a Toshiba one).

When I try to install XP, it sees the Cd and begins starting the process, for example. loading devices. But whenever it gets to the last line says «the installation program starts now...» "it crashes with a blue screen with an error"0x0000007B"that I find something to do with the boot drive.

Then I deleted the diving and installed XP properly on a desktop computer using an adapter, put it back in the laptop it starts very well until the first wime you see the XP logo and then crashes with the same error

Then I tried a 60 GB drive, I had in my laptop main that I know works fine and got exactly the same message.

I then tried Windows 2000 which had the same problems, but eventually worked with 98SE. I tried both with FAT and NTFS and I installed the latest version of bios 1.60. But in vain.

Someone at - it good ideas as to what im doing wrong?

    Hello

When you install the restore CD is a simple file and when the external drive is just plugged and recognized that it is not problem to install it but when you install the original version of Microsoft installation must be interrupted and the unit should restart for the installation continues. At the moment the external drive can not be found anymore. I assume that this is the problem in your case.

Try to create two partitions and copy the CD Win on the second partition and try again to install the unit.

  • Satellite X 205-Sli3 - how to connect Logitech 5.1 speakers

    Hi all

    I have a Satellite X 205 - Sli3.
I've been trying to find a way to connect my laptop to my Logitech 5.1 speakers and subwoofer.

My laptop has usb, firewire, pcmcia, HDMI and S/PDIF out port for 5.1.
My logitech speakers have three sockets of 3.5 mm usually plug easily on a card of its pci on a bench.

I looked everywhere for cables, couplers and converters, in an attempt to convert a port on my laptop to these three speaker 3.5 mm male jacks...
My first thought was to use the meaning of port S/PDIF really that it was used 5.1 but in all the forums I looked he said really was not true surround sound.

I am an avid player and I would like to connect these speakers to my laptop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can get these off headphones =).

I hope that you know very well that your laptop is about 5 years old and you must not be surprised if you don't find this oldie listed on the actual page of Toshiba. ;)

In any case, I found the information to follow:
    -your laptop can handle with max 1 GB Ram and compatible module are PC2100 256 MB (PA3127U - 1 M 25) and in PC2100 512 MB (PA3164U - 1 M 51)

    Hi Breck,

in my opinion there is no way to upgrade the internal CD on a DVD player because the CD player is set up and could only be replaced with the same model!

Only an external USB or PCMCIA solution would fit!
