Well, I have the Modem EchoLife HG520b given by my ISP and I managed to get a linsys wrt300n and want to use as an access point, I connect them through an ethernet cable, so, what settings should I set my wrt300n?

    Firmware 1.01.36 build 4 The WRT600N is connected to an existing LAN and is really only used as a Wireless N access point. There is nothing plugged into the WAN port; only the LAN port.     Topic 1. Linksys, used to have a mode option to switch between the modes 'Bridge' and 'router '. The latest routers call it now better NAT power. Gateway mode means THAT NAT is enabled. The router always takes into account that the internet connection via the WAN port, i.e. it will always use the default gateway on the WAN port.     Well, if you talk to users on like the 2.4 and mobile users on the 5 GHz, of course. You would need two separate SSID and assign them to who ever radio, but not really a good idea. How much house/AP wireless routers have been done initially, but I don't see why you would do that. If you wanted to divide the different devices, just use the different SSID and can then choose what radios they join. Some devices could do support the 2.4 ghz and the 5 GHz so that you limited.

    Nothing beats an AP on the WRT mode. It's just connecting it via the main router LAN port, you can use the access point without going through the router within the WRT component.

    You will have to do exactly what I wrote. Don't change anything on the Netgear.

    1. disconnect your network WRT. Wire a single computer to a LAN of the WRT port.

    2. open the web interface of the WRT to http://192.168.1.1/ since the computer you plugged on the WRT.

    3. on the main change WRT configuration page the LAN IP of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2 and disable the DHCP server.

    4. save the settings. Unplug the computer.

    5. wire one of the LAN ports of the WRT to the Netgear. Do not use the internet port of the WRT!

    That's all. You don't change anything after that. It is the final configuration. You can now access the web interface Netgear http://192.168.1.1/ and the web interface WRT to http://192.168.1.2/

But, after I disconnected the wire and reconnected or the other device wireless again (they go OK so I know that they get an address) when I go to print to the 8600 it says there is no communication to the printer. BTW, I can install (and installed) other (cable) HP printers on the network as the computer laptop and Tablet AUTODECOUVERTS and print...     Back to your question about directional antennas, you could use the AIR-ANT5140V and mount it on a wall.  I use the AIR-ANT5160V because you need to get the right height.  Take a look at the horizontal print and you will see.
