VCAC provisioning without DHCP

Is there a way I could shoot party VCAC without the need for DHCP during initial generation? I understand that the VCAC officer must contact the server iaas for the information of the intellectual property.  I was able to query the SQL database to get the future IP of the virtual machine and set it like this, but seems to be an ugly workaround.  Is it possible to completely eliminate the DHCP in the process?

Thank you

I followed this article for customization in Vcenter, and then worked in the VCAC

  • N4064F ip source guard without dhcp

    Hello!

I'm having a problem with our new Dell switches.

We are a small ISP and need to find a way to prevent users from assigning IP addresses to their equipment which do not belong to them. We hoped there was a feature similar to Cisco using static ip assignments ip source guard, but it seems that it requires the use of a DHCP server. None of our clients are in DHCP, all IP addresses are statically assigned. Is there another method or solution? Perhaps using an ACL?

    Thank you!

I came across this post that goes beyond using source guard with static IP addresses on Cisco.

    http://bit.LY/1DsAM47

The switches of the N series to offer the same commands with a slightly different syntax. This suggests to me that it should work the same.

Console (config) # ip dhcp snooping
Console (config) # interface item in gi1/0/1
IP console(Config-if-Gi1/0/1) # check the source
    output console(Config-if-Gi1/0/1) #.
IP console (config) # check the binding 00:11:22:33:44:55 vlan 1 1.2.3.4 interface gigabitethernet 0/1/1

Page 521 for another look at these commands:

An ACL would work too. You can apply an ACL entry to the physical interface that would allow only the traffic of the said IP address and then deny all other traffic.

  • vCAC 6.0 Distributed Installation and local PostgreSQL DB?

I'm more the vCAC 6.0 for the distributed installation documentation and it is not clear on the conditions of implementation for vCAC clustered devices and their databases.

If you install multiple vCAC devices and set up as a cluster, it is recommended that configure you an external cluster of PostgreSQL "for high availability and failover", but it does not say whether or not it is necessary.

Is it possible to configure a cluster vCAC environment without using an external PostgreSQL cluster, or is it a requirement of this configuration?

    I understand.

    In the documentation here:

    vCloud Documentation Center Automation

By default, it says "the vCloud Automation Center device is configured to use an embedded PostgreSQL database. For highavailability and the large deployments, an external database is required. »

    In the architecture section distributed:

    vCloud Documentation Center Automation

They show that a deployment of high availability of the vCloud Automation Center device consists of two or more.

I would take these statements as meaning that no, you can not set a vACA clustered deployment using the internal postgreSQL and you are required to use an external instance of postgreSQL when configuring the vACA in a redundant deployment.

I have not tested in the laboratory yet but will follow up to this post when I do.

  • Transport CANADA share disks over WAN

    Hi, here is my setup:

I have the DSL modem/router (cannot access the administration panel (ISP does not give) - so it must be in router mode acting without DHCP) hooked up to my no. 1-2 to time capsule (latest model, latest firmware 7.7.7 - in Bridge mode - acting as a dhcp server).

My 2nd time capsule, also of 2 TB, latest firmware 7.6.7, is connected to the extended bridge ethernet mode (mode dhcp client) 1 St time capsule.

I installed all the capsules of the time with the overall dynamic hostname and entered my apple for the CCMM ID (green light is on in the airport utility).

Now the problem is when I connect to the external IP I can properly connect to the 1 St time capsule and browse files, backups, etc, but I can't connect to my 2nd time capsule of the external IP address.

The two time capsules appear fine in the finder when I'm off the LAN, but it does not connect to a 2nd.

What is the problem? Am I missing something?

Part of the discs on WAN is not an option for me as I said I can't put no.1 Time Capsule in router mode due to my ISP give me admin for my DSL modem access.

    Thank you

Your problem is that the two TC are on the same (your public WAN) IP address and the same ports, according to the standard CCMM. So the first TC in the chain is the one who gets the attention and captured the port.

Apple didn't CCMM system able to cope with two of the devices themselves I guess.

The usual way around this kind of thing is to use a different port. Unfortunately, Apple has hidden everything and so there is no way to connect to another port.

The only solution I can think to... other than the simple move all the files you want to the first TC... is to use VPN not CCMM.

Buy a VPN router... What are cheap... type of SME end pretty cheap, you can buy or you can buy a router in most common domestic type and run it to third person (dd - wrt, openwrt, Gargoyle, etc.).

Once you have established a tunnel in your local network, then all in the local network is fully accessible.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 to JetPack 4 G - LTE Verizon connection

Hi, as you can probably guess I am trying to connect my HP Officejet Pro 8600 to my Verizon Wi - Fi hotspot.  I tried to use the "Wireless Setup Wizard.  When prompted I chose the correct network and entered the password.  After a while the printer is:

    Successful connection

    IP: No link

    Network name: not applicable

followed by a host name and the MAC address of the printer.  When I try to view the wireless connection window shows that I am not connected (suspect). Then I printed the 'wireless network test results.  It reports "no problems found. Our congratulations for the successful your printer wireless installation. "and the everything under the"Results of Diagnostics"section. In the "Current Configuration" section the correct SSID is displayed, but the IP address is 0.0.0.0 (which means that I am not connected?).

Also, I checked the page of configuration of the Jetpack and MAC filtering is disabled.

Is it possible to connect this printer to a Jetpack from Verizon (MiFi)? If so, what am I doing wrong?

Looks like the printer connects to the network, simply do not receive all IP information.

I'll give you the simplest solution that usually resolves this problem.  For best results, be sure to follow them in order.

    1. turn off the power the JetPack.

2 turn off the power to the printer, while he is the 1 minute.

    3. turn on the JetPack and wait for the network connection back to the top.  This can be easily identified when other devices start to reconnect to it.

4 reconnect the power to the printer and wait for the home screen to finish loading.

    5. press on the antenna icon, and then select settings.

    6. scroll and select default network.

    7. once that is completed, reconnect the printer to the network with the wireless configuration wizard.

DHCP, dynamic host configuration protocol, is responsible to assign IP information to the devices automatically as they connect.  It is possible to connect to a network without DHCP, there just won't be any communication unless the IP settings are defined manually.

  • Cannot find device 9163 using DAXmx 9.1.7

I'll put up the NI 9237 (for strain gauges) module using series C Ethernet ENET-9163 carrier.

I installed DAQmx 9.1.7 which must contain the correction of the impossibility of finding the device when other USB devices are installed. (I have an HP desktop with the mouse USB, keyboard, etc., always under Windows XP SP3)

When I run the Explorer measurement and automation (Version 4.7.0f4) and ask network devices to find NOR-DAQmx, nothing appears.  The troubleshooting steps in the Getting Started Guide OR-DAQmx for NI WLS/ENET-9163 aren't useful. (I do not have a static IP address for the 9163, that's what I want to put in place; I do not have a DHCP server)

I created a 2nd ethernet connection on this computer using the Cables to Go USB 2.0 to Fast Ethernet Adapter, what struck me ServerD in many other projects for the creation of a private network to operate the data acquisition equipment.  So I think that ethernet itself is fine.

    What should I try next?

I did a factory reset, so it wasn't the issue.

I finally got to DAXmx 9.2.3 which has much better help text to put in place.

In my network setup where I have a separate private network, I had to use to allow it to choose an automatic IP address setting.  (Normally I have created my own private, without DHCP ip addresses).  Once I did it, and using 9.2.3 (I did both at the same time), I could find the 9163 and give him my own static IP address.

Then I turned on the network connection to fixed static and reconnected to the map now with its own static IP address on the same subnet as the network card.

    So, all is well.

  • the process Svchost.exe to netsvcs uses a lot of memory (~ 600 MB) and 100% cpu

I have windows xp edition sp3 family. I hit the power button to hibernate the pc but I think an automatice update was running.  Pc crashes when windows resumes after hibernation. I forced a re-boot, but now the svchost.exe to netsvcs process uses a lot of RAM and CPU. I have a Dell Dimension 8250 with 1 GB of RAM. Svchost uses > 600 MB of memory and 100% of the CPU unless I have stop the DHCP service. When I stop DHCP the svchost stops using CPU and memory affected slowly decreases to about 150 MB and remains at this level. But without DHCP I do have access to the network.

After installing SP3 recently I started having some weird problems, as I lost my printer and had to re - install the software. Also noticed that after re-booting and desktop appears completely empty, the screen turns white and the taskbar at the bottom will appear empty for about 30 seconds, then reappears. PC seems to be more slow tha before installing SP3.

I've tried everything. Nothing stopped the svchost to chew all the memory, virtual memory and time processor. Had to re - install windows xp.

  • Setup of the w/r/t LRT224 of confusion

    Hi people,

I run a small SOHO and currently have two Internet service providers, but only have a physically connected to my network. When it breaks down, I swap the cable from my Internet service provider router 1 by one of the ISP router 2, and everything happens again, manually.

So, I bought a LRT224 and I had this plan of implementation, but I don't think it will work. My thoughts were:

    1. the value 1 router ISP 192.168.1.1 without dhcp, assign 192.168.1.2 to the DMZ

2 put ISP router 2 to 192.168.1.254, without dhcp, assign 192.168.1.2 to the DMZ

    3. set LRT224 on each WAN as static 192.168.1.2 with dhcp.

    4. devices to connect to LRT224

I keep the LRT224 within the internal networks of each ISP router and do not connect not not the WAN directly, so it will be a problem?

I think that if I had this work, he may not notice when 1 ISP fails.

I'm trying this approach because I do not know how to connect directly to the Wan.

Thanks for all the advice and help,

    Hi phreaq,

If you want to leave the LRT224 manage your ISP twice, you need to connect to each of your two ISP modems directly to both the LRT224 WAN ports. Each of the LRT224 WAN port can be configured for what type of settings of your ISP (dynamic, static, or PPPoE) needs.  If your two existing routers are wireless routers, you can then just cascading them (LAN WAN or LAN to LAN) port LAN LRT224 to use the wireless capability. The DMZ of the LRT224 port has a different function.

If your ISP already you provided with a modem/router with a default of 192.168.1.xx IP address, then simply change the local ip address of the LRT224 of 192.168.1.1 192.168.2.1 192.168.3.1, 10.10.10.1 172.16.1.1 or any intellectual property as long as it is not on the same IP address of your modem/router ISP range.

  • CCNP 300 - 206 (SENSS) safety switch

    Hi all

Currently, I am studying for CCNP security 300-206 (SENSS).

I came across the following doubts. If they seem to be stupid & funny, I can't go to my car without posting here.

1 > what will happen if we give "Maximum authorized MAC 5" and 'Sticky MAC address' orders together under the same Interface?

2 > does DHCP Snooping Database table stores the NON-DHCP Clients(Lets say static) MAC & IP addresses?

3 > mechanisms made DHCP Snooping and dynamic ARP Inspection will work under the plain layer 2 only choose?

4 > can "Source Guard" stop rough APR, as the dynamic ARP Inspection packages?

5 > private VLAN interfaces can communicate with the primary VIRTUAL local Network Interfaces?

It may need little explanation - here's the scenario:

Suppose we have 100 primary VLAN, VLAN 300 community VLAN 200 and isolated.  And here's the interface assignment:

    GI Gi0/2, 0 / 1--> VLAN 100 primary

    GI Gi0/4, 0 / 3--> community VLAN 200

    GI 0/5, Gi0 / 6--> VLAN isolated 300

But we have converted only Gi0/1 in the Promiscuous Port and mapped VLAN 200 and 300 of VLAN.

    Can Gi 0/3, Gi0/4, Gi 0/5 & Gi0/6 contact GI 0/2?

    Could someone please help?

    Thanks in advance,

    Prasanna Kumar deully

    (1) port-security allows a single MAC by default. Post-it adds the learned address to the config and 'fixed' this address. If you change portsecurity to allow five addresses, then all these up to five addresses are added to the configuration.

    (2) No, if you use this table for other functions such as DAI or IPSG, you will need to define exceptions of static for systems without DHCP. Before you implement these features, I make sure that ideally all systems use DHCP. Cameras, printers, multifunction devices and so on. Many of them get bookings on the DHCP server, but they must use the DHCP protocol to do functions such as DAI and IPSG very.

    (3) what is a "simple layer 2 switch' for you? Today, the definition of Layer2 or Layer 3 defines how the device it is transmission. A Catalyst 2960 is generally used with Layer2 forwarding. But this does not mean that there is no function to look in the payload and to inspect the traffic up to the application layer. These functions are also available on the older Catalyst 2950 (initially there wasn't no DAI, but DHCP Snooping) and are now available on all switches access (catalyst).

    (4) function no, each has its own security function. DAI is to inspect the ARP-payload, IPSG is to inspect the source addresses.

    (5) don't know what you mean...

If Gi0/3-Gi0/6 are configured for private VLANs as shown, then they can communicate directly with Gi0/2. If they are not yet configured (I guess that's what you mean by "converts"), as they are probably members of a VLAN different and can communicate with Gi0/2 through a Layer 3 device.

  • How can I connect a cisco router to the internet via a cable modem / router gateway

I have searched here but can't find the exact answer that I'm looking. I have a switch and a router cisco 1760 2950. The router has an added ethernet wic card so I have two ethernet connections available. I would like to connect the cable modem gateway the router through one of the connections on the router, then the switch ethernet. I can't get this configuration to work. There are several different ways, I saw displayed to accomlish. DHCP, without dhcp, creating a separate network and giving the e0/0 cable an ip address in the range of addresses network gateways. None of this has worked. Can someone after the commands that must be entered on the router to make this possible?

Hello, I'm assuming that your ISP is to give addresses via DHCP...

And I suppose also we want to implement our router DHCP in our local network to give our PCs and laptops etc...

So what we need to do is:

    conf t

    !

    interface e0/0

    Description # INTERNET #.

    IP access-group MY_WAN in

    default router 192.168.1.1

    Server DNS 8.8.4.4 8.8.8.8

In this configuration, I applied an ACL for a protection to my router and my network to allow only established connections that Ive from my LAN to return to me. Anyone who tries to open a connection to your router will be refused. Everything is allowed. But you can change this option to be more specific rather than wide.

On your switch, if you leave all ports in the vlan 1 and have as access ports, it should work.

    Hope this helps

  • RV042 routing problem

I try to use the rv042 as a primary internet connection and also as a VPN failover for my primary private WAN connection.

I have a load balancer / failover device, called a Fiberlogic, which acts as the main router to network my office remotely.  This device shows you all the traffic to my private network go to junction A and all Internet traffic going to the B connection (connection B is the rv042).  If the fiberlogic sees this connection is down, it will send the connection B's private network traffic.  The RV042 has a VPN setup, I tested it and it works.

However, I have one VERY difficult to get the RV042 to act as our internet gateway.  The RV042 is in mode "gateway."  Devices plugged into it directly (or via an external switch) work very well.  The RV042 LAN is 10.2.254.0/24, and he est.1.  FiberLogic est.254.  The main network is 10.2.0.0/24 (and the FiberLogic.1.  The FiberLogic road all traffic to the internet (and for failover) of 10.2.254.1.  I have install a static route for the RV042 road 10.2.0.0/24 to 10.2.254.254.

I had a ton of problems with this earlier today.  I have a second RV042 I put in to see if that would fix it.  There can be no.  Finally I have restored the default settings and reset the top, and I thought it worked.  As I was cleaning the I did one last test - and it failed.

I have install a hub between the FiberLogic and the RV042 and configure a computer with Wireshark to do some packet traces.  I get strange results.  I never get a repyl.  SOMETIMES I see answers from 10.2.254.1 (the RV042) towards 10.2.0.25 (my desktop) in wireshark, even if I don't get them (odd).  However, whenever I have ping to internet, I never see the answers, only applications.

I read that DHCP should be disabled for a static routing to work.  I tried with and without DHCP several times.  I tried with and without VPN.

Once again, peripheral not behind the fine work of fiberlogic (i.e. on the 10.2.254.0/24 subnet that use the RV042 as gateway).  UT behind the fiberlogic devices fail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RV042 Rv082 and RV016 router can be configured for additional NAT networks who are sitting behind the LAN.

    1. log on to the router

    2. go in the configuration Page

    3. roughly halfway down the page, there are article that says "several Setting subnet.

    4. click on the button that says "Add/Edit."  This will bring up a dialog box

    5. Enter the network number and subnet mask, then click 'Add to list' for example network: 192.168.200.0 mask subnet: 255.255.255.0

    7. that you will return to the previous page in the installer

    8. the checkbox in Multiple subnet must be checked and the second network to be coordinated should be

    9. click on the page to "Save settings" at the bottom of the page
