vCloud Director SQL connection

Hi guys,.

Having a really weird problem here. I have setup my SQL database Installation and configuration guide, but cannot connect to system cells. I get arror message saying "Could not connect to database. Please re-enter. " However, I can connect to the database successfully by using ODBC in Windows.

Here is what im entering the connection details: -.

The following data types are supported:
1 oracle
2 Microsoft SQL Server
Enter the type of database [default = 1]: 2
Enter the host (or IP address) to the database: vcd - db.domain.com
Enter the port of database [Default = 1433]:
Using the default value for port ' 1433'.

Enter the name of the database [default = vcloud]:
Using the default "vcloud" for the database name.

Enter the name of the instance [default = MSSQLSERVER]: VCDDB
Enter the database user name: vcloud
Enter the password: vcloudpass
Connection to the database: jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://vcd-db.domain.com:1433 / vcloud; socketTimeout = 90; instance = VCDDB

Cannot connect to the database. Please enter again.

Here is a screenshot of the database:

Any help will be very appreciated!

If you use a named instance (what you entered indicates you have created an instance named, called VCDDB), I'm sure that you will not use the port configured for this named instance, because only the default instance uses 1433.  It will work in ODBC probably because the SQL browser is running on the server and the client is able to talk on udp 1434 to find out which dynamic port of the named instance is on, but vCloud Installer probably this is impossible...

In other words: the default instance (MSSQLSERVER) probably in 1433, all default named instances will be listening on dynamic ports - what it is and use that in the Port field.

  • Management Pack for vCloud Director (vROps) connection problem / authentication adapter?

    Hello

    I'm trying to configure the Management Pack for vCloud Director (Cloud Management Marketplace |) Solution Exchange) and I seem to be having trouble with the simplest thing. I have the Solution installed and configured for most, but for some reason usually reach out and join the vCD server, or have a kind of authentication problems. When I test the map with appropriate powers (local and LDAP in vCD), I get the error:

  • vCloud Director 1.5 device console connection is not displayed

    I have deployed vCloud Director 1.5 device in the private network. At is the configuration of the network. I ping the IP of the vCloud Director, I can access the console running on port 5480.

    https://192.168.2.38:5480 / It works.

    However, based on the rating guide, I guess to be able to do the initial Setup by access via:

    https://192.168.2.38/

    This connection cannot be configured. I have the connection to the device command line console, and run netstat - year, I don't see any process listening on port 443.

    Did I missed?

    It's strange, like the vCD device is virtually a plug-and-play operation.  Just deploy it and connect.  A couple of thoughts here...

    First, we focus on the IP addresses, you use when you configure the vCD device...  The deployment of the device, it will ask you for two IP addresses for the "network 1" and "network 2". "."  The lesser of these two IP addresses, this is what will be used for your HTTP and the higher numbered IP address will be for the Proxy of the Console.  Your right, however, it will specifically prompt you for one or the other.

    Second, if you use the device, you should not run the script configures.  The unit will take care of this for you.  Only, you would run the script configures if you were installing the binary real VCD.

    Finally, regarding your inability to you connect...  What it's like, you have the operational services.  You could also check this by using the chkconfig--list command.  From there, I try and divide the question to determine if it is a problem with connectivity, services that run on the device, or maybe even your browser.  To begin with, I would try using a different web browser than what you using your.  Normally, this should not be a problem, but it excludes the case where you have made any browser specific configurations that will be impossible to connect.  Since you know that the process of vCD are rising and running and you can access the host, then I would check to see if maybe that's a problem with just the SSL connectivity.  Once again, it would be strange if you were using the vCD device, but it's just another step to validate, right?  I know how make this the easiest would be to use openssl (which you can get for Windows or Linux).  I would just try a command like:

    #openssl s_client -connect vcd_ip:443

    and see if your able to establish an SSL connection with the cell of vCD.  Of course, you can always check the logs too.

    Hope some of these ideas help...

  • Connection to vCloud Director 5.1 with the REST api plugin

    vco3.PNGI can't get this to work.

    I'm following part of the manual, I found here: http://blogs.vmware.com/orchestrator/2011/07/vcloud-director-twitter-yahoo-and-foursquarecom-http-rest-plug-in-use-case-examples.html

    So I install the plugin and run the workflow to add a host:

    And set the authentication with the workflow "Set vCloud to authenticate a host REMAINS:

    vco2.PNG

    And run the supplied workflow "show a vCloud, Director of the Organization:

    vco3.PNG

    And get the error: "no valid API version can be selected.

    I also tried with version 1.0 and 1.5 of putting in the URL, but cannot make it work. What Miss me?

    Thank you.

    Hello

    It is a problem with you REST plugin does not support the vCloud 5.1 authentication correctly.

    I created the following work around to fill the gap until a new version of the plugin REST solves this problem.

  • White (gray) vcloud Director portal after installation

    Hi all

    I lived the installation guide and saw blog various positions on the vcloud Director 5.1 and all this installation process seems simple enough for me.  The problem is that I keep getting stuck in the same game in all 3 facilities I've tried so far in a test environment.  Whenever I have the installation and try to go for the first time the Installer Wizard url (https://IP-of-vcd-server=http-nic) it just displays a gray screen... no text, no icons, nothing!

    I read some posts on this subject and they got never really at the bottom of it in the comments, so I hope that someone, somewhere had this problem too and can point me in the right direction as to what could be the problem?

    I'm under RHEL 6.3 x 64 with firewall disabled, 2 network cards, installed certificates (self-signed) and vcloud Director 5.1.2 - 1068441.

    DB is MS SQL 2008 running on a server separate from the DB

    I hope someone is able to help

    Can you delete and recreate your database?  I know it's a new facility, but it seems that the DB was partially initialized once and then reused with this installation later.

    This means that the db, create a new one with the same name and account to connect, re - run the script configure once, and then restart the services.  Please make sure that there is only vCloud Director for installation at the start, as always, we can add cells later via a different set of steps.

    The errors are on the decryption of the files, which means that some of the generated ID keys do not seem to correspond to the local operating system files.

  • Could not access vCloud Director with IE

    Hi, I installed vCloud Director 1.5 on my CentOS 6.3 in my lab. I used a Microsoft SQL database. During installation, I tried to set all the parts correctly. Everything was fine and I can launch my Internet Explorer browser and connect to the vCloud Director. I set it up without any problems. I run my lab on vmware wrokstation 8. I closed the CentOS down and all my virtual machines. The next day when I started my VMs and tried to connect to vCloud Director whit IE browser I could not. According to KB: 2005819 my IE is 32 bit, I have JRE and Adobe Flash Player.

    Hello

    I have attached the file vmware-vcd-support to this post and log files

    Please provide the logs.

    There is an error in the file which indicates what could be the problem. I will quote the message at the end of this post in case anyone is looking for a solution to a similar problem in the future.

    This error indicates that the encryption information in the configuration file of this cell does not match the information that was used to configure (and encrypt the information contained in) your database. For example, when the cell tries to decrypt the information contained in the database, the encryption algorithm fails (which is where the strange sounding "javax.crypto.BadPaddingException: receipt final block not well padded ' error message comes of).

    It is most frequently observed in an environment of several cell when you do not use the response.properties file when you run/opt/vmware/vcloud-director/bin/configure on additional cells. The correct procedure to follow for vCD 1.5 is documented in the 'Installation software vCloud Director on other servers' section on page 31 of the installation and Configuration Guide.

    However, in your case, I suspect the problem that we see here is actually the result of your attempts to debug what was your original problem. When you have installed vCD for the first time, you have run/opt/vmware/vcloud-director/bin/configure (or said 'yes' to a prompt end installation that is in order) which produces an encryption key used to encrypt the different pieces of information in your database. After meeting the initial error, looks like you uninstalled vCD system and re-installed. If you don't have keep the encryption key or empty the database when you do, the second run/opt/vmware/vcloud-director/bin/configure would have generated a different encryption key, which does not allow to read the information stored in the database by the first system.

    At this point, you have two options. If you have the contents of the directory/opt/vmware/vcloud-director/etc of the first installation, you can use those to recover the encryption key and configure the current installation to use this value. If you do not, you can completely clear the database (for example by delete and recreate) and re - run/opt/vmware/vcloud-director/bin/configure which will create a fresh database schema, encryption of sensitive data (new) with the current encryption key. When you do that, you would be able to start the cell (but you can still run in what was your original question).

    Once you are able to start your cell, a person must be able to help debug your problem with IE (assuming that it has not been resolved by the relocation process).

  • VMware vCloud Director with the NSX Manager installation process.

    Hello world

    I recently planned to deploy VMware vCloud Director (so NSX Manager will be deployed, as part of the process) on an existing environment (existing virtual machines running, virtual switches,...).

    Customers use their virtual machines because they are in production.

    I was wondering if the deployment / installation of NSX Manager would cause no downtime or disturb the workflows running or even break the VM interconnections?

    Thanks in advance,

    Lawrence B.

    I looked at many tutorials, and indeed nothing should happen so that deploy a controller or something else. My concerns were about this "else", as the virtual switches and so on. I guess that the NSX will show existing resources such as the existing virtual switches (and so forth) already configured with vCenter?

    What vCloud Director does is interact with NSX via API.  Calls are exclusive to VXLAN (vdnscope-# resources in the API) and demand to deploy or update an edge.  vCD is not 'show' resources discovered by NSX.  You configure NSX and vCD makes an API call and said ' I want a Board connected to the port groups A and B "or"I want a new vWire of this VXLAN instance.

    Is there a document with the "best practices" for the deployment of vCD?

    Yes: VMware vCloud Architecture Toolkit: Cloud Computing reference Architecture | United States

    The meddle with existing resources, must have dedicated resources for the vCD vendor (aka the cluster in vCenter).  It is better to have that then using a pool of resources to a cluster where neighbour noisy problems can arise.  vCAT above might exceed a lot of that when you read it.

  • vRealize device Orchestrator 6.0.3 and vCenter 5.5 5.6 U3/vCloud Director

    Hello world

    I have a few questions on the compatibility between vRO 6.0.3 and vCenter vCloud Director 5.6 and 5.5:

    In vCenter Orchestrator 5.5.2 I plugin to connect the vCO to vCenter (version

    vro2.jpg

    2. a supplementary door on vSphere Web Client integration with vRO. To do this properly first of all I must use SSO authentication mode? It won't work with LDAP authentication?

    3. anyone know if vRO works closely with vCloud Director 5.6? I found 5.5.1.2 plugin, but using this plugin, I can not connect to vCD (in vCO 5.5.2 I have no problem).

    Hello

    (1) Yes, plugin configuration is workflow (this is the approach recommended new plug-ins; the old configuration of Web UI is deprecated and will be removed at some point).

    (2) only the SSO mode is supported; LDAP won't work. Note that the UNIQUE authentication token is acquired in the name of the user logged in vSphere client to Web, so you must make sure that this user has enough permissions to connect to vRO.

    (3) it should be newer versions of this plugin, and compatibility matrix showing which plugin version is compatible with given the vCD. Don't know where it is, however.

  • Cannot access vCloud Director VM console

    Hello

    We´re in the face of a very strange problem when you try to access a console virtual machine via the vCloud Director 5.6 Web Portal.

    Let me describe the environment:

    1 - 2 vCloud Director cells;

    2. load balancer 1;

    3 - 1 VIP for the proxy console; 1 VIP for the web portal;

    4 - certificate of CA-signed 1 with wildcard characters (*. < domain >) instead of certificates 2 ordinary host (http. < domain > and consoleproxy. < domain >).

    5 - the following procedure was used to create the keystore of Java and to be able to import the certificate even twice (each time with a different alias):

    OpenSSL pkcs12 - in /keystore/ < company > .pfx-out /keystore/ < company > .pem

    OpenSSL pkcs12-export - in /keystore/ < company > .pem-inkey /keystore/ < company > .key-out _http.p12 /keystore/ < company > - name "http".

    OpenSSL pkcs12-export - in /keystore/ < company > .pem-inkey /keystore/ < company > .key-out _console.p12 /keystore/ < company > - name 'consoleproxy '.

    keytool - v - importkeystore - srckeystore /keystore/ < company > _console.p12 - srcstoretype PKCS12 - destkeystore /keystore/ < company > .ks - deststoretype JCEKS

    keytool - v - importkeystore - srckeystore /keystore/ < company > _http.p12 - srcstoretype PKCS12 - destkeystore /keystore/ < company > .ks - deststoretype JCEKS

    6 race "keytool-list - keystore /keystore/ < company > .ks - stores JCEKS" shows two aliases in the keystore.

    7 - vCD installer not to complaint about it.

    8 - certificate is loaded correctly when accessing the web portal

    Now the question:

    1 - the gate opens as it should;

    2. each type of action is possible and works very well;

    3. when we open a VM console for the first time, it opens normally;

    4. If we close it and try to reopen, or if we try to open a second console, it won´t open;

    5 - according to the browser:

    5.1 - console remains black. State begins to 'connection '. Changes to "Offline" after a short time;

    5.2 - console remains empty. Status hangs on "Loading"; He sometimes goes to "disconnected";

    6. If restart us the two cells, it begins around (able to open the first console, cannot open the rest);

    7. same behavior if the access using the VIP (with load balancing) or directly (using the internal IP address of cells).

    I ve seen some issues with what seemed like the same problem but no conclusive answer.

    Any help on this would be appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

    The fixed.

    1 - upgrade of vCD 5.6.3 to 5.6.4.

    2 - something with virtual machines, we had deployed for testing. We have erased their and the new have no behavior.

  • Why 5.5 vcloud Director only has not the ability "add a network to an organization?

    I have deployed the ovules of Director 5.5 vcloud in my lab environment and watching videos. In the videos, the guy has deployed vcloud Director 1.5 eggs. I noticed that this homepage of vcloud Director 5.5 is not the option 'Add a network at an organization' as in vcloud Director 1.5.

    Did remove this feature in 5.5. Then I thought that it could be controlled from within the Organization after you create it, but again once I created the Organization, there is no option to add a network to this organization? I'm playing something here? How can we tolerate that they are private, the administrator of the Organization to create a network that is using a NAT or directly connected to the external network on the fly and remove it once it is not necessary. I though that it was a feature of the vcloud Director.

    I used the EGG apparatus, I have use the .bin file.

    Your help is appreciated. !!

    You EF network pool Org vDC wide (it's in properties)

    At the same time that you create a network Org inside the Org vDC going to just use the current network are entrusted to him.  Then, you make all your usual choices.  to do this, vDC display Org itself... go to list of org vDC in manage and monitor, and then double-click the VCC Org that you want to add a network.

    VAPP networks work exactly the same, create you them at the time the vApp is created.  This will use the network pool that is currently assigned to the Org vDC when the TIME Gets deployed.

    Overall, the function at the level of the consumer (org users) is the same, the process-level administration system has changed a bit.

  • vCloud Director 5.5.1 can prepare the host

    Hello!

    ESXi 5.1.0 1065491

    vCenter 5.5.0 1623101

    I want to prepare a new host in our vCloud cluster, but I only had errors:

    I checked the dns resolution (all directions, network connectivity (ping, telnet,...), vshield status etc...)

    I found the Thread problem preparing hosts , but is not a solution for me.

    Anyone have any idea?

    I solved my problem - it was a firewall issue.

    vCloud Director coud not connect to the esxi host because ports were blocked.

  • vCloud Director

    I have just deployed vCloud Director and I set up a port-supported network group pool and he attributed to my Org vDC. I created a paralyzed man with a unique virtual machine, but when I try to turn it on, I get the error below. When I look at the virtual machine, it is connected to the external network. No idea why I can't use the port group supported network I created. ?

    org network is like a network of the VAPP/VM can connect to.

    If you do an org network, create a vApp and attach the virtual machine directly to the org network.

    However, if you have only 1 group of ports in the pool of network... you get ONLY 1 network (org or vapp) not both.

    In almost all cases I've seen, they do not use a Port supported group pool... VXLAN or vCNI are the most common options.  for most since a single vLAN = 1000 + networks.

    If you wanted a network to the 'outside world' remove your network pool (separate from the org vdc after all are deleted), create an external network to the system (via the port group)... make an external network in the Organization related to System.  then put a virtual machine on the network it will directly in the external network.

    having a pool of network could do an extra layer.  like having a local network with a gateway to the outside world.

  • Issue of SDRS to vCloud Director after you add the new data store to the Cluster of DTS

    Hi people,

    We use vCloud Director 5.5 in a vSphere full 5.5 environment.

    We have several DTS Cluster in vSphere and connected to vCloud Director.

    Following problem.

    When I add a data store to a Cluster of DTS and connect this to the corresponding storage profile data store, the storage profile is not available to vCloud Director more.

    After removing the new store data in the cluster of DTS, the profile becomes available again.

    Any ideas?

    Concerning

    Jean

    How did you the storage profile associated with the data store?  via c# client or vSphere web client?

    If you did the wrong way (c#) there no storage class label appropriate against it.

    A data cluster store has the storage class who would have all preparations of data contained inside.

    I think that you should check the service class is associated properly in vSphere web client (before adding to the DS Cluster).  Once it displays correctly, and then add the data store to the cluster.

  • How VPN from my PC at home to my network of vCloud Director?

    Greetings.

    I would like to than VPN from my home to my vCloud network office. I have a vDC on vCloud Director 1.5 (offers my provider, I know it's outdated), and it is connected to the internet with a static external IP address - 203.59*.x.x. The vDC has 2 virtual machines.

    -J' did some reading and found where to configure VPN site to site network properties. After clicking on "Activate VPN site-to-site", what do I do next? If I add > remote network, I'm supposed to fill my 'peer IP' - that is the IP assigned randomly my ADSL modem gets to the internet service provider? It feels useless, because it changes whenever I'm in again. What is my "door of peers"? Is it my home router, 10.1.1.1?

    -In addition, how one configures the VPN dialer on the desktop itself? When I tried it, it prompted me to add a user name and a password, but there was no requirement these when I enabled VPN on vCloud Director.

    The documentation, I found online about this reference to vCloud Director 5.1, which is not what I use, or difficult for me to understand. A guide step by step would be great. Long story short, I have no idea of what I'm doing and could use some help. Thank you.

    Site to another looks to fill two networks via VPN.  This config page you are looking at is saying connect this vShield edge gateway to another VPN device at a remote location.  the? is the IP at the remote location configuration.

    I don't think it's like a PPTP or OpenVPN connection as you would get on DD - WRT or something like that.  It's just a site to join sites, not Client Server (the server, you are the customer).  Although it may be possible, I did not do.
