VCS Cisco control / Core Expressway interoperability

Hello

I have the fate of unmanageable endpoints on the internal network, functioning as a H323 IP address directly.
In fact, we had regular meetings as the auto numbering unmanageable endpoint by H323 IP address directly.
Unmanageable end points would not be registered in the VCS / CUCM.

1. can I adjust the composition of Cisco driver auto & GST to endpoints VC not saved by its IP address (regular meeting VC > Auto call the IP address internal VC endpoints directly)?

2. or should I deploy VCS / Expressway to consume the traversal lic. / RMS lic. from autodial URI translate be IP call? Can I just deploy the VCS - C / E motorway in order to reduce the lic. costs?

You don't need a VCS-E for this.

Just go to the plan of numbering - Setup and call to unknown IP addresses as Direct. The alternative would be to create a subzone with a membership rule with the IP of your endpoint. Depends on if you want to only allow the call to this particular or to any endpoint IP on your network endpoint.

    Hello

I am little bit confused what is the difference between the Expressway series and legacy VCS-C/E.

If I deploy series Expressway (X8.6) running on the virtual machine as traversal server for ARM, can I use that as same as VCS - C and VCS - E, the installation program.

By running the MRA, can I also used these local SIP/h.323 recording servers of the endpoints of SX and Jabber Video (Movi)? Can I need separate license to achieve?

So I need instances of additional and separate VCS to support records the of the SIP/h.323 endpoints. And need additional licenses for the latter as Non-parcours/course would issue licenses, commissioning, FindMe.

OK, that all of these are specific to the series of VCS, while the freeway series does not have the provisioning and FindMe, it also has a system of license different call where it is a type of single license unlike licenses non-parcours course you have with VCS.  The

You must use the VCS-control/Highway if you want to use video telepresence Jabber (aka Movi).

Series Expressway (centre/periphery) are therefore only for ARM with CUCM deployment?

Yes, Expressway series was created to provide courses of firewall and external recording to CUCM via Mobile and remote access capability.  It can also provide comments of Jabber, but MRA and Jabber comments cannot be run on the same server.  On another note, the series of VCS can take all the series Expressway, because the latter is simply a subset of the functionality of VCS.

  • VCS and design of Microsoft Interoperability

    Hi guys,.

need help from collective intelligence again.

I've got VCS and Microsoft Interoperability key installed and correctly deployed interop with Lync - audio and videocalls. Lync federated domains and successfully can call for their users. I have configured the search rules in certain areas (for example, Microsoft.com) neighbor B2B Microsoft box. call begins, but at time of pick up at the bottom it is declining.

is it possible to appeal to domains Federated Lync via Internet of the endpoint TC recorded on VCS?

You try to call the Lync federated users from your Cisco VCS registered endpoint? Have you configured the settings of the ROUND and for VCS configuration on the Edge transport server?

  • Areas of VCS between control/Highway

How VCS control and highway behaves when you have a neighbor or a crossing rules of search box pointing to each type of server and a search is performed.  If a search begins with the order and is sent to the highway, it never for a reason some could eventually return to the control because of the neighbor or the crossing of area search for installation between the two rules?

Basically, this type of research never happens and if yes how to prevent?

    VCS - C > neighbor area > VCS-E > neighbor area > VCS - C

    Thanks, Patrick

Yes, possible to experience what you have described on both neighbor and link traversal depend on search rules (or configuration of the transformation) that loops potentially signaling between VCS - C and VCS-E.
An example of this is a structured numbering plan where all systems are close together in a mesh. In such a configuration, if the hop counts are set too high, a single search request can be sent around the network repeatedly until the number of hops reached 0, consume resources unnecessarily.

VCS have function to detect loops of research (VCS Configuration > call) and put an end to these research via the call loop detection mode setting, thus saving network resources. The options for this setting are:

    ============================================================================

On: the VCS will fail any branch of a search that contains a loop, registering as a "loop detected" event level 2. Two searches are considered to be a loop if they meet all the following criteria:

    • have the same tag to call
    • are to the same destination alias
    • use the same protocol
    • come from the same area

Off: the VCS will not detect and fail loops search. It is recommended to use this parameter only in advanced deployments (or have a very low value of configuration County hop).

  • VCS Cisco user account locking

    Hi Experts,

We implement the VCS servers on our clients and as part of the implementation, the client makes the assessment of vulnerabilities on the device. Is it possible the unit of VCS to implement some type of account lockout after a set number of user/password incorrect attempts name?

    Thank you.

    BR,

    Acevirgil

    Hi Acevirgil,

At that time vcs is not that kind of password policy. but you can use LDAP to connect on VCS and LDAP, you can set the password policy.

I know not if that would be accepted by the customer or not.

Maybe someone else have an alternative workaround for this.

    Hi zizou.

You can include a device VCS with a VCS VM as long as their matches of software and their hardware platforms have equivalent capabilities.

VCS machine clustered with VCS VM running on 8 cores LargeVM = No.

  • VCS Expressway, highway

    Hello

Gently, I confused, what are the differences between VCS Expressway and Freeway?

-Don't need Expressway a HW (server), it is only allowed in CUCM I need to buy?

-pre sales engineer, when can I choose VCS-E? and when can I take the freeway?

    Thanks and greetings

    There is a thread here:

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/discussion/12699961/Expressway-series-vs-VCs-control-Expressway

    To summarize:

What are the differences between VCS Expressway and Freeway?

-VCS expressway or the Server Traversal is the 'legacy' that supports local recording of external H323/SIP based endpoints by using its features of Registrar Gatekeeper h.323 and SIP. It also serves as the traversal server for VCS (client of crossing) control to support for firewall traversal calls and B2B.

-Highway consists of Core Expressway and the highway, or they call it 'Collaboration Edge'. The concept of highway is the same as the 'life' VCS control + VCS Expressway to provide firewall route, B2B calls. Channel Express is an extension for CUCM controlled environment for Mobile and remote access. With Highway, external clients/video endpoints can register on the CUCM without using VPN. Expressway in this case do not support the records the of endpoints. Endpoints will locally save on CUCM using technology of firewall Expressway (Core + Edge) courses.

Expressway takes a HW (server), it is only allowed in CUCM I need to buy?

Highway needs a server and it can be deployed in a virtual environment.

You can take a look at offerings Cisco Business Edition 6000 (BE6K):

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/Unified-Communications/Business-Edition-6000/data_sheet_c78-717454.html?CacheMode=refresh

as when can pre sales engineer, I choose VCS-E? and when can I take the freeway?

  • Issue of Cisco Expressway MRA

    Dear all

I'm testing the MRA of VCS - C and VCS-E feature

I use the firewall architecture 3 ports that the VCS - C and CUCM are placed inside with the same subnet.

The VCS-E is placed in the DMZ and static use of the ASA 5510 1-1 NAT to translate private IP address: 172.16.0.225 to the public IP address, for example 100.1.1.1

In the context of VCS - C, I use the FQDN of the SCV - F that map to the public IP of VCS-E (100.1.1.1)

And the VCS-E use the FQDN of the SCV - C to map to the IP private of VCS - C

Area traversed in VCS - C is active, but the area crossed in VCS - E is inactive, it is said that server inaccessible.

I found that my VCS-E is not the license of the Advanced Networking option.

In the VCS-E ip settings page, there is not any NAT setting

I want to ask if I need to use NAT, in addition to the NAT of firewall functionality, I need also the license of advanced networking option to activate NAT in VCS - E?

Or it may work to use only the function NAT firewall without NAT for the VCS - F?

Also, I put the reflection of the NAT to my ASA 5510

    Hello

The option networking advanced to activate NAT on VCS - E or the edge of the highway is a requirement for the crossing of firewall deployment.

    Useful guide:

Deployment Configuration Guide (Control with Expressway) Cisco VCS Basic (X8.7)

With your case about the progress of the deployments of networks, you will need to follow the 3 firewall ports using single VCS Expressway LAN Interface DMZ on the guide on page 60.

  • Cisco Multicast - problem of Cluster control point

    Hi all

Now I've been troubleshooting an issue where in my security team in which they are unable to form a cluster with two devices of control point. (internal interfaces E1 on both).

They told me that the cluster Protocol (CCP) uses multicast to form a cluster.

Two internal interfaces are connected to my core of the switches (FEX) which are two Nexus 5Ks, which I think has some limitations regarding multicast transmissions (Please correct me if I'm wrong)

From the online support literarure, I learned to know that disable the IGMP snooping on the switch Cisco Nexus Core is a workaround.

My query is, is there any special way from PRI? If I disable the IGMP snooping it will affect all other areas of my network?

    Thanks in advance.

I prefer to use IGMP snooping as planned, i.e. with an IGMP applicant if there is no Layer 3 interfaces with PIM.

  • Connection Cisco SG300-10-Core Cisco 6513 for ShoreTel phones

I have a new ShoreTel phone system will soon.  Configure a dhcp, including option 156 scope which is required for ShoreTel to obtain the configuration on ShoreTel phones and in order to get on the vlan correct voice on the phone.  I also created a new vlan 112 for the vlan voice.  When I plug directly into the Cisco 6513 Core switch, the phone starts fine, it gets its configuration and on the VLAN correct 112.

We have a training room in which there will be a lot of users.  I ordered 6 Cisco small business 10port SG-300 POE switches for this training room.  I plugged the switch in a cable coming off the 6513 which is just an access port and in the vlan voice I created for phones shoretel VOIP:

    interface FastEthernet10/11
    switchport
    switchport mode access

    MLS qos trust dscp
    Storm-control broadcasts 20 h 00
    spanning tree portfast

When I plug a phone directly into this cable the phone works very well.  When I plug a cheap cisco POE switch in I can get 3 phones works very well, but due to the amount of energy needed for this cheap a cisco switch it will give only 3 phones power.

The real problem here is plug into small business cisco SG300-10port POE managed switch.  I thought I could just connect the switch to the port configured above right out of the box and plug in phones without a problem.  When I plug the switch and start plugging in ShoreTel phones, they do not start coming in and upward and actually had a few phones upward but then finally there is no tone and also later, they appear on the screen as a service not available.

I have to configure a trunk port on a port on the SG300 and the Cisco 6513 for this to work?  Also I will need to VLAN configuration manually on the SG300.  Looks like that when I just plugged it in to the above configured the port on the SG300 it automatically create the vlan 112.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thank you

  • Cisco VCS does not show the user account option

    Hi team,

We have 7.2 VCS server control, I'm not able to see the option of user account under maintenance-Login accounts. Please advise.

We don't have find me and TMS provisioing Extension service license, don't you think that's the reason.

I just started my first deployment of VCS, MCU and TMS and I must add customer movie, cisco Jabber video for Ipad and integrtaion with CUCM. CUCM has some end points of polycom and C40 and C60.

You precious advice will give me comfort during this deployment.

    Irfan

    BR

    Hello

It's probably because that VCS runs in TMS PE commissioning mode, in which FindMe is managed by the portal user in TMS, meaning there is no need to set up the maintenance > logins on the VCS.

Edit: You added information that you do not have the keys option Device Provisioning and FindMe. Because user names relate directly to FindMe, the absence of an option key FindMe would explain also unable to see maintenance > login accounts > user accounts.

  • VCS Starter Pack Expressway

    Hello, everyone.

We have donated some equipment to set up a SIP network and there are a few problems.

For the internal endpoints, we have a customers EX90, C90 and MOVI.  We also have a single Starter Pack Expressway VCS (* without * the dual NETWORK card option).

For our firewall imagine 3 interfaces: inside, outside and DMZ.  The DMZ has public/Internet IP addresses.  There is no between the inside and the DMZ - NATing it only the NATs as it passes through the external interface (which is of course the interface connected to the Internet).

So I just have a few addresses here for the love of communication:

    VCS Expressway: 20.0.0.2/25<-- public="">

    Internal endpoint EX90: 10.0.0.2/24

    Internal endpoint MOVI: 10.0.0.3/24

Again, there are no NATing between 10.0.0.0/24 and 20.0.0.0/25 network.

Everything works (registered through our VCS) internally.  When we make an external call, tell the customer MOVI, media gets to the external endpoint, but we do not have any media on internal endpoint (not a single UDP packet).  We also noticed the media stream that we send goes directly on the external endpoint (or its VCS) and not through our VCS Expressway.

Another interesting fact, when we put a little linksys router between the endpoints and our business network (endpoints on the local network, business network on they WAN) everything works and the media we paths through our VCS in the demilitarized zone.  The only thing I can understand is the VCS realize there is now a NAT between the internal endpoint and himself and changes the path.

I looked through a lot of different documents (VCS base Config Guide, Expressway Starter Pack Deployment Guide, use of the Port IP VCS for Firewall Traversal Deployment Guide, etc.), and none of them that I saw really cover our scenario.  Anyone got any ideas on why the media do not work properly?  I don't have access to a corporate firewall, but I told myself that the UDP stream will never return to us.

From what I've read in other discussions posted here, it seems that you only need the dual NIC option if your VCS Expressway is coordinated to the Internet (which ours isn't the case).  Is this correct?

    Thank you

    -Matthew Pinkston

    Hi Matthew,

In addition to the advice given by Tomo and Alok, you could also take advantage of the 'media encryption Mode' area/subarea on the VCS (this is available in X7.2) to force the Express way to the media even for your internal SIP endpoints.

If you configure for example the "encryption mode Media for the sub-area by default on your VCS-E for 'Best effort', a call between two internal devices registered in the VCS-E would be routed via your VCS-E, media as well as a call between a device internal SIP an external device / remote."

    Hope this helps,

    Andreas

  • Accommodation of the presence on the next information control VCS

    Hello!
    Could you please help me?

What should I do to host the presence information of my domain name SIP not on local control of VCS, where points registered endpoint, but VCS control located in the nearby area?

Disable the server of presence on your own VCS control while allowing the presence on VCS neighbored control server.

Also make sure that your local SIP domain exists also on VCS neighbored control and that the rules of research between these VCS allow presence SIP traffic pass freely between the two (AnyAlias for example).

  • Comments of Jabber with VCS registered endpoint control and MCU

    Hi all

According to my plans. I'll try to integrate comments Jabber with environment of Collaboration.

    Use cases;

    1. call between Jabber and VCS registered control EX90 comments

    2. Add Jabber comments a MCU conference where MCU part control VCS

    3. call between Jabber and Jabber comments

    Comments will be welcome :)

    Best regards

    Hi Martin,

From Jabber comments 10.0, only #3 above is supported. However, we will publish JG 10.5 soon (I hope that in the next few months), and it will support all 3 of your above use cases. The only downside is to use #1 and #2 cases, you have a CUCM in the call flow.
