Thank you

The product of VMware View 5 documentation is available at http://downloads.vmware.com/support/pubs/view_pubs.html

Page 13 of the 5- http://pubs.vmware.com/view-50/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/view-50-installation.pdf view Installation Guide provides information on which operating systems are supported for use with the Agent to view software.

Looking at the documentation, Linux not is not currently supported for use with the agent View 5.

Hope that helps.

  • T of what guest operating systems will start the VMware Support for EFI?

Is there a list of support guest OS for the EFI firmware?  Mianly supported by VMware - do not try, fail, call support technique etc etc.   My experiences on the TP forums, I guess that there is not.  Some OS (such as Windows Server) come with a screen to choose BIOS/EFI firmware.  If not, you need to go to setting > Hard Drive OPtions-> advanced _ > boot using EFI.  In particular there at - it versions of Linux that you give you option of BIOS/EFI firmware before the confutation of VM is complete, so the hard drive then be custom.

We will officially support the EFI firmware for any guest operating system to which all the following conditions are met:

    • We list this guest operating system, supported in the VMware Compatibility Guide for operating systems and your virtualization product.
    • The guest operating system supports EFI in the operating system installation media.
    • Support the guest OS EFI has no catastrophic flaws (for example Fedora 12 x 64, FreeBSD 11, Centos 6.0 through all the 6.2 have catastrophic flaws).

New computer virtual assistant of 11 workstation has only the option of EFI firmware for Windows clients.  Special mention, do not yet support us Easy Install for non EFI customers in 11 workstations.  For all other customer support EFI OSes, you can do a manual installation after choosing the EFI firmware in the virtual machine settings > Options > Advanced > Boot with EFI instead of the BIOS.

I don't understand your concern about the personalization of the hard drive... Could you elaborate?

    See you soon,.

  • Free virtualization software takes supported Windows 7 as operating system host and Windows Server 2003 as a guest operating system?

    People,

Hello. I need to install the Windows 7 host virtualization software, and then install Windows Server 2003 as a guest operating system.

VMware Workstation supports Windows 7 as operating system host and Windows Server 2003 as a guest operating system, but it's not free download.

People know that supports virtualization software free Windows 7 as operating system host and Windows Server 2003 as the operating system invited?

    Thanks in advance.

As I said in your previous post, VMWare Player is a free download and does not support Win7 as host and Win2k3 as a guest.  VMWare Player is also included with VMWare Workstation, you can imply that most of the time something that supports VMWare Workstation as a guest operating system is also a guests supported for the reader.

And unlike previous versions, player 3 includes the ability to create virtual machines base.  For many people, especially those who are starting just in virtualization, player is sufficient.

VMWare Workstation, although not free, can be installed as a 30 day trial.  After the trial, you can not start your virtual machines in my computer, but because the player is included in the installation, you can still run your virtual machines in the drive without having to uninstall anything.  So just install Workstation.  After the trial expires, if you wish that the advanced features of the workstation, then buy it.  If not, just continue to use the drive.

  • VM does not start after the crash of the guest operating system

    VM Workstation 10.03

    Host OS Ubuntu 12.04

    Guest OS Windows XP SP3

VM normally works well under VM for over a year.

While I was updating a mp3 Player XP is crushed, and even power off the virtual machine does not work.

After a Resart of the host operating system, the guest could not start.

I deleted the directory .lck file.

When I start the VM OS prompt written

    Loading... - VMware Workstatiion

    and nothing else happens.

Another guest operating system will work very well.

How can I restart my XP?

After a day down from the host (a very cold reboot) and deleting all .lck files.

VM aloowed me to dispose of the session.

After that cold booted XP as it was before.

  • Paradoxum on vmware overview "Guest Operating System Support" homepage

    Hello there,

you guys can help me by answering the following question:

What is the difference of the supported guest operating system RHEL 5 and RHEL (32/64)?

See in the table on the following link:

    http://www.VMware.com/technical-resources/advantages/guest-OS.html

In addition, there are analogies like Windows XP and Windows XP (32/64) ?

It is a paradoxum for me.    =)

Can someone help me with this, please?

BTW: I want to run a RHEL 5 x 86 (32 bit) as the guest on vSphere OS 5 and must be supported in case of disaster.

Thank you very much and have a nice day!

It is indeed a table very unclear.

It is not the real compatibility list, but a comparison with other hypervisors.

  • vCenter 4.1 Update 1 "Guest Operating System support customization"

I was reading the release notes for vCenter 4.1 update 1. I noticed this statement regarding the additional customization support:

"Additional support for customization of the operating system called: vCenter Server now supports the customization of the following systems: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (x 32 and x 64)".

    (1) this means that we should not patch our model of Windows 2008 R2 with SP1, if we're still using vCenter 4.1 (without Update 1)?

    (2) in addition, it is possible that someone has already patched our model of Windows 2008 R2 with SP1. What would be the consequences or potential issues if some virtual machines have already been deployed and customized in vCenter 4.1 (without Update 1)?

I doubt I'll see any error, warning or other if I tried to customize, but I want to assure you that it is not some underlying issues that would not easily noticeable.

The reason is simple... SP1 is RTM and will be released in the coming weeks.

First version of vCenter 4.1 can not support only because that there was not.

Does not support does not mean that it is does not work (sorry for the pun).

  • Serial port under guest operating system does not work

Running VMWare Workstation 7.1.3 on win 7-64 bit. Guest operating system is win 7 32 AND Windows XP (32 bit). I followed the instructions on connecting to the host serial port. However, there is no access to serial port a guest OS. Serial Port sniffer running on the host shows NO ACTIVITY on the port operating system serial host.

Even serial device, attached and if running on the host works very well.

    Any ideas?

    Steve

I doubt that the documentation is correct for what is with VMplayer 3 on Windows TGV serial ports is.
    Read my notes http://faq.sanbarrow.com/index.php?solution_id=1007

I removed the option of thinprint and reconfigured the serial port in the vmx file attached.

Turn off the virtual machine and replace the existing by the attached vmx file.
    Then try again

If it still does not - change
    Serial0.yieldOnMsrRead = "FALSE".
    TO
    Serial0.yieldOnMsrRead = 'true '.

  • Adding SCSI - HOST OS card works fine, GUEST operating system does not see the new hardware

I have a HOST Windows XP Pro SP3 with VMWare v6.5.2 running Windows Server 2003 R2 STD, SP2 as OS GUEST running on any new Dell Precision T3500 Workstation.

I've closed the COMMENTS and then HOST. Installed an Adeptec SCSI 39160 card in the PC. The card is a 64-bit and is installed in a PCI 32-bit slot. (It is backwards compatible with 32 - bit)

Powered on PC. Install the drivers of Adeptec on the HOST. Works fine and I can see the card under Windows XP. Rebooted and everything is always OKm POST shows the installed card and search devices. I have no device attached at this point.

GUEST operating system has started and it does not automatically detect the card. Tried to run the Add Hardware Wizard and same result. Tried to use VMWare to install the new Hard ware with no result.

Can tell you how I can get the OS TO see / use the new SCSI card?

    golden rule:

old guest will love the buslogic controller

new comments will love the lsi-logic controller

    It depends on your guest
