Virtual server problem

We are having a problem with pages not displayed for a virtual server that has been installed on one of our existing servers. If I ask index.cfm to the new virtual server, I get index.cfm to the existing virtual server. HTML pages are displayed correctly, and so are the second virtual server pages that do not have the same name as a file on the first.

The symptoms are exactly as described in this technical note, but the catch is that "Cache web server paths" is already disabled in the CF Administrator (and the jrun.xml setting is also correct).

Anyone know of any other cause of this problem (and, hopefully, a solution)?

Thank you

Tim

Today I used VMWare Converter 3.0.3 to convert a file evaluation VHD Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition SP2 (Virtual Server 2005) ESXi 3.5. It seems to work without error. However, I have a pending issue. In other words, based on the results of pilot of "VMware Pointing Device" in my being rooted at the bottom right of the Virtual Console of the mouse. The mouse buttons seem to work, but the mouse itself will not move. I have VMware Tools installed and that you have reinstalled them several times, just in case. If I change the mouse driver to the driver "mouse Compatible PS/2", it works, sort of. It moves around the screen and the same slides perfectly in and out of the console window, as you'd like. However, it is jerky. Hardware acceleration is maximum. The video driver and all the other features seem to work perfectly.

I converted a Windows 2008 VHD and it worked well.

If I do a new installation of Windows 2003, it works perfectly, mouse and all. If the problem seems to be limited to a hard drive Windows 2003 virtual conversion. I don't have a Windows 2003 machine to test if the importation which would have the same bug or not.

A very similar discussion was due in a previous thread several years ago http://communities.vmware.com/thread/36507.

Any help to fix this annoying bug would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Normally uninstall us the services that we believe may conflict with VMware devices (such as mouse), so that these problems do not occur. But just to be sure, it would be nice if you could 'uninstall' as suggested CONTINIUM and see if that makes a difference. An only problem here, is that you will not be able to uninstall the present of the VMware VM and you may need to uninstall this VS VM before proceeding with the conversion.

  • Implementation of the small vFoglight Pro on virtual server?

I install vFoglight Pro 6.5 in our environment. For the near future, it will monitor 3 vSphere ESX servers. Install on a virtual server would be ok or is it need a physical server?

    Hello Xafods,
Even if you use a physical server is highly recommended, you can install vFoglight on a virtual machine that you allocate the necessary resources (as specified in the guide of the system configuration required) on the virtual machine to avoid performance problems.

  • Activation of Windows still necessary even if the virtual server on the same hardware to restore

Hello, I hope someone can answer this.

Our virtual machine running vmware server ESX 3i 3.5.0 has 2 hard drives, datastore1 and datastore2.   All of our virtual servers are stored in datastore2.   Our hard disk with the datastore2 crashed and he had to be replaced.    We have backups of our virtual servers in datastore2 virtual appliance.

To solve the problem, we replaced the hard drive crashed and then restored by using the virtual appliance backups, once restored, we noticed that the Windows 2008 requires that the activation of the licenses.

My question is why does windows need activation when we restored the virtual server for the same hardware? The only thing that has changed is the hard drive.

Thanks for any help on this issue.

Export/import unfortunately OVFs does not have an option (at least I'm not aware) to maintain these settings. What you can do - when exporting the virtual machine as an OVF - also download the machine virtual . VMX and .vmxf files. After re - import the OVF, remove it the ESXi host inventory, download the two * .vmx files and add the virtual machine to inventory. -Once asked if you copied or moved the VM on the first power-select "I moved it.

  • Virtual Server disabled NIC.

I have a virtual server running MS Server 2003 running on ESXi 4.1. I stopped the VM and has increased the memory allocated to this topic. When I pulled up, the network adapters are disabled both and it wouldn't let me reactivate their. I right click and select 'Enable' and he would say 'enabling', and then go straight for people with reduced mobility. I had to stop it, decrease the memory to the original amount and restart it to network cards work.

It's a virtual machine that has been converted into a physical box to a virtual with Vmware Converter Standalone Client.

Anyone else have this problem or know a solution?

Edit and add the new network adapter, which should solve your problem.

  • Run a virtual on a virtual server

    Hello

Anyone know if it is possible to run virtual pc (or any virtual software) on a workstation virtual vmware (essentially run a virtual on a virtual server)?

I have a problem running on a vmware workstation VM. Is it still possible?

    Thank you!

    -jp

You can run a virtual machine in a virtual machine if you use the right products and settings.

See document jmattson ( nested running VMs ) for more details.

  • VMware Converter 4.0 and Virtual Server 2005 R2 VM

I downloaded the new VMware Converter (Version 4.0.0) because he had promised for the merger as a target.

I have the image of Sharepoint 2007 VIrtual demonstration of Microsoft Server which works OK using Virtual Server.

The converter seems to be a valid VMware image on the PC where I run the converter.

I copy the VMware HD image created on my external Mac (OS X 10.5.6 Fusion 2.0.1) and merge it opens but there are questions.

1 fusion think that the virtual machine is an 'other' OS rather than Microsoft Server 2003 Enterprise, which is what the VM from virtual server. Therefore, I can not install VMware tools on the virtual computer.

    2. If I change the type of operating system in the interface of Fusion Server 2003 Enterprise settings and that seems ok. Then, I am able to install tools in VMware Fusion.

    3. after the required reboot to complete the installation of the tools, the VM comes back BUT the mouse pointer is no longer visible. The virtual machine makes it unusable at this point.

I remember posting on this forum awhile at the time where I realized first that the virtual server instance could be opened with a PC version of the workstation and I remember reading while the mouse pointer is a problem.

So is there anything, I can do to get the Fusion tools installed AND have a working mouse pointer?

    Any help appreciated.

    Jim

Yes, it is removed from the control panel and you can try on virtual machine converted however, it may not work.  As before you convert you can do anyway that you presented.  I like to make a copy and use it as I want to do some other preprocessing and then I just remove it when I'm done leaving the original intact, but whatever way works for you is fine.

  • Alternative to IIS6.0 as SMTP virtual server

    Hi all

My company does a cloud-based mail filtering and our last jump internally is fundamentally a vanilla Windows server with IIS6.0 enabled for SMTP delivery to our customers, a receiving SMTP is used by our system to capture logging to a database for our customer portal. A similar setup is used to deliver outgoing messages for customers who use us for the relay.

We have been asked on the TLS delivery, but not all customers want to implement and if I understand correctly, IIS6.0 essentially deals with TLS as an all or nothing, there is no other opportunistic choice.

Is there another solution that I can use? Preference is another function/role I can activate the virtual SMTP service, or a complement of standard Windows that we can always use with SMTP sink for our logging.

    EDIT *.

I have a new computer with outlook express and went through the set up instructions.  When I tried to send a test email, I got this error message:

    Hi Jeanette Logan,

Here is an article that addresses this issue. Follow the steps listed in the article for this problem:

You must make a few changes, not only on outgoing parameters, your incoming parameters also need changes.

Open your e-mail program > tools > accounts > your bizmail account > properties > servers, under outgoing mail server, check "this server requires authentication" > apply > advanced, under outgoing (SMTP) mail change to 465 not 25. Put a check mark on "this server requires a secure connection (SSL)" > under incoming (POP3) mail, change it to 995 no 110. Put a check mark on "this server requires a secure connection (SSL)" > OK

    Hello

If you have not yet tried to disable the antivirus/firewall software, then try the following steps to disable them.

    Disable the anti-virus software: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Disable-antivirus-software

Enable or disable Windows Firewall: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off

IMPORTANT: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks
