VM disk devices

Hi all

can someone explain what the virtual machine disk unit (for example vmhba1:2:0)?

In general, I need to find the data store that is used by the VM virtual disk device.

Thank you.

I see.

First find the HostSystem and recover all attached data storage. So for the purpose of data store, see the "info.vmfs.extent" property, which gives you an array of HostScsiDiskPartition objects. Check each diskName to see if it matches your disc's canonical name. If so, this is what you want.

  • VMware Vista support physical disk device does not not for some VM.

I handle Win2k8 64 bit vm on esx5.5 Update 2 which are evidence of "Disk of Vista VMware help" have the error "this device is not present, is not working properly or is not all its drivers installed." (Code 24) ». Versions of VMware Tools vary, either 9.4.0 9.4.5 build-1585188, build-1598834 or 9.4.10 build-2068191.

Google missed most of the time. I can't find any information on what concrete this virtual device is or what it does in particular, except that it may be involved in the creation of snapshots suspended.

In addition, the device seems to be attached to the vmrawdsk service, which does not exist on the server. These virtual machines were not P2V, they have been created since iso win.

One guess what it is and how I might be able to fix it?

I got it on a working server my copy on the file vmrawdsk.sys missing a server well-known, uninstall VMware Tools, restart, reinstall it and restart again. Then the VMware Vista support physical disk device / service vmrawdisk are working normally.

  • Unable to add disk, device is detected

    Hello

Home, test environment, I have 2 servers ESXi 5.5. In vCenter (and on the server) the HD (SSD) device appears, but when adding storage, it can be selected / is not / is not displayed.

When I want to remove (detach) the device, I get the message that it is in use, but I don't know what to use. I'm still learning VMware, so I don't know how to find out what is using the SSD drive.

I was googling and found some tips, but I can't figure out what that orders to use at the command prompt.

    Can someone help me please.

    Thanks for advantage.

    Have solved it.

The disk where configged under 'Virtual Flash' (Cluster-> host-> adjustment). A parameter that is only available in the webclient service and cannot find the client local vCenter.

It seems that it is looking for a player previously connected.  I don't know why he would do this.  Try to compact and repair the database (www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/) and reboot and see if that makes a difference.

If this is not the case, then look for 3 third-party programs, such as antivirus, which might interfere (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).

  • T110 II - with Dell virtual disk SCSI Disk Device-WIN2012

This server is running out of space on hard drives, 2 x 500 GB RAID1.  I want to wear it to 2x1To.

At startup and Ctrl-f shows 2-500 GB in RAID1 disks.

What is the right way to do this?

I can stop and remove one of the 500 GB disks and replace it with a 1 to and let it rebuild once completed, repeat the same process?  Afterwards to have 2x1To in place that are synchronized, bootable and functional.

N ° it is part of the hidden cost of buying low-end equipment. If you had a PERC 6/7, you could do it, but not with the SAS 5/6, which is very low end, material basis.

    rdurham
It will take at least 24 hours to drive new format and sync and probably another 2-3 hours to restore if not more.

You insert the new larger disks, configure RAID 1 and then restore your backup to it. You do NOT normally have to wait for it to completely initialize.

  • Upgrade to a larger disk - compaq presario FR429AA

I have a compaq presario FR429AA and the Device Manager in Windows 7 tellsme, I have a WDC WD32 00AAJS-65B4A SCSI Disk Device as my hard drive is internal. It comes to 320Gig, but I want to put in an internal 2 drive 3 TB to run as the main drive with the operating system and keep the old drive as additional storage space.

I've heard of IDE, peripheral PATA and SATA, but sure of SCSI I'mnot main hard drive of the PC.  I can simply go with a SATA drive? Or I don't specifically tolook for a SCSI for this PC?

    Thank you

The 2 TiB limit is due to the OS.  However, it is for a single player.  You can install several readers until, I think, 256 TiB on the system.  Using the old drive will create no problem.

I suggest to do a system recovery using recovery discs.  This will save possible problems that may occur.  Here's a guide to help you.  Also, here is a guide to help you upgrade from Vista to Windows 7.

I've never used Acronis Backup.  Therefore, I am not sure if your suggestion will not work correctly.  HP motherboards are tattooed with the major components of the computer.  If the motherboard doesn't detect these components, it won't an installation by using the recovery discs.

  • Portable drive device goes wrong

Alerts this disk device goes wrong on my laptop of HP 2000 and said that I have to back up my files or I won't lose them. Indicates the name of the drive is Hitachi HTS543232A7A384 SATA peripheral Disk Volume: C:. D:\  I contacted HP support and they said, it must be replaced.  I don't know much about computers, so I have a lot of questions.  Is this drive the 'hard' for my PC?  About how much how much it costs to get it repaired? It would be cheaper to get a new PC? (paid $300 for this PC) What would make the disc go bad after only a year and a half? It was the result of a virus? It hurt more than if I continue to use my PC t that I tried to use my Norton 360 to backup my files, but I don't know what I'm doing. Norton Save things like photos and emails or it records only the things that make the PC work?

Very good questions. Yes, it is commonly called the 'hard drive '. An exact replacement for your player is $ 43 on amazon.com:

    http://www.Amazon.com/Travelstar-Z5K320-HTS543232A7A384-internal-drive/DP/B00555EG7S

For a few dollars more, you can get a larger capacity drive which is faster and improve performance. Let us know if you are interested by this.

This shows how to replace the drive.

    Norton 360 tutorial:

    http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=QHVDg1dgksY

You choose what you want to backup. You did a restore DVD when the laptop is new? If this isn't the case, maybe you can always use HP Recovery in the program menu. This will be the easiest way for you to get the software on the new drive.

Hard drives are very delicate and mysterious and can go bad for no apparent reason, but it is an urban legend that a virus can make a record hard to spoil. That's why we need to save, save, save. Never trust of important data on a single hard drive.

You have a 2nd hd, or a partition has been created on the existing hard drive.

To remove it, unplug it Tower pc (the lid). If there is a partition, open

technical equipment, locate it, R.click it, select 'remove '... Either one would be to youre

  • Creation of Setup always ask to insert the CD disk

    Hello

I am trying to find a way if I can avoid the situation of having to re - insert several CDs while I'm creating an installer at all times. I previously installed all the software on the disk device driver and the original labview application disc (CD it ask me to insert), but I can't seem to move from a generation without having to physically put the CD in the machine.

    Any ideas out there?

    Thank you very much
    -Ted

    Hello Ted.

The installer LabVIEW constructor stores the location of the Installer MSI that you used to install the package on your system by default. When you go to build and Installer, it tries to copy the MSI from the same directory, in your case, it's the CD. There are several ways to work around this problem. The first is to copy all setup programs on the CD to your hard drive and install it on your system to your hard drive. The second is to change the setting of the Installation Source location in the section other installers for your build specification. You will see that it points to your CD drive, but you can change it to any place that contains the valid files.

  • Drive in the SCSI devices instead of SATA shows Device Manager

I added a Via SATA card PCI card to get an additional SATA port on my old motherboard.  Then after I loaded the pilots who were only of Raid, I do not have raid, and I noticed the drive SATA hard watch now WDC500xxxxxxxx SCSI Disk Device under disk drives, but only one of the disks. How can I remove SCSI?  My Nvidia 7025 shows that 2 Nvidia nForce Serial ATA Controllers under controllers. I have XP Pro SP3 (latest updates) with an ASRock n68c-s mother (New) now 4 gig ram AMD Proc. I tried to replace the driver, but he said it was the best.  I can't find revaluations on the canvas or the drivers provided with the motherboard, only the controller drivers.
