VM Machine suspend automatically

Hello

I recently purchased VMWare Workstation 7 and installed a new system (N) (32) Windows 7 on Vista Ultimate ultimate (32) host.

As soon as I leave the system with spots more durable than installing or updating automatic he went to suspend mode when I get back.

Sometimes when I got the machine she was still working on this task, with that I let him.

So it seems the automatic suspend mode is not only happening when the system is in a State idling but even when it is busy.

I searched google manually, and the faq ´s but couldn t find an answer.

I hope someone could give me a hint of hurt today.

Thanks in advance.

Arpad

PS.

When I try to run the Windows performance test to compare the performance of the VM Machines against the native execution of hosts, I get a message that the system doesn´t have multimedia support. Is this a usual behavior for a VMWare workstation 7 or did something wrong in my installation.

Thanks again.

Open comments Windows 7 power strategy and the 'Go to sleep' value 'never '.

  • Virtual MACHINE starts automatically after a power outage of the entire site?

    Hello

    We use ESXi 5.5.

If there is a power for the datacenter failure, ESXi hosts must be restarted when power is resumed.

We wonder if VMs will be launched automatically to the top?   If not, this means that we must allow the "starting the Virtual Machine / stop option.

If we put a number of virtual machines in "automatically start", such as VM1, VM2, VM3 on ESXi Server one, VM4 VM5 ESXi Server b.   Virtual machines are migrated between ESXi servers and how they can keep the boot sequence?

    Your opinion is requested.

    Dear Tony,

I ask you to create a vApp and configure accordingly on your vCenter boot order.

  • Cannot use 'lab1' host because the host CPU is not compatible with the judgment of the virtual machine suspend state.

I see that this error was mailed here, but can't seem to find a position with a resolution.

We use Lab Manager 4.0.4 and just upgraded the hosts in our laboratory.  Before updating to ESXi 4.1 ESX 4.0 u1, we cancelled all VMs in all configurations.  There is none who were suspended, they were all turned off.  We have improved vcenter 4.0 to 4.1 as well.  We moved from a dell poweredge 1950 with two quad core intel L5410 to a r610 with two quad core intel processor E5506.

When I try to turn on some of the lab configurations (our VM models all work fine), I get this error:

    • Cannot use 'lab1' host because the host CPU is not compatible with the judgment of the virtual machine suspend state.

I threw the State for the lab configuration (even if it was turned off and cancelled) and still get this message.  I guess the processor architecture of these chips is quite similar, and both are Intel.

If I go into this directory of Manager of laboratory inside the data store for one of these virtual machines that does not light and add to the inventory, he turned and starts fine on my server esxi 4.1.  So how do Lab Manager to get account it's well deploy and start it?

    Hey billk.

Although not supported completely, you can solve it by going to the SQL of Lab Manager database.  Make sure that you back up your database before you do anything like that.

Open the table "fsdir" and corresponds to the dir_id with the id Lab Manager VM.  Once you find the relevant line, change suspend_proctype_id to null (Zero-Ctrl).  You can do this while Lab Manager is still running.

The results can be unstable (i.e. Windows can crash if it was a drastic change of CPU), but at least you look at a hard reset.  The bat reset certainly not being able to return to the previous state.

Also note that while Lab Manager does not include CVS, if you activated, your virtual machines still work in CVS mode.  If you have a mixture of heterogenious of hosts in a cluster for Lab Manager, you can see this question pop up a lot.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with take back the virtual machine because of the VCA, but Lab Manager thinks otherwise and prevents it.

Hey jmattson (or similar to VMware guru gloss):

We have a virtual machine that fails to resume, despite my current understanding that should be. ESXi is 2068190 on both hosts.

    Hi Rocky,

In the main menu, select 'Virtual Machine'-> 'USB and Bluetooth'-> 'USB & Bluetooth settings' and then change the setting in the "Action of the Plugin" column for your device in what you want it to do.

  • How to make the virtual machine starts automatically after power is declining for all ESX host?

We meet just power down and lost electricity ESX host.

When we start the ESX host, we can on each individual virtual machine.

Y at - it a setting that we can put in place for these VMs critics may start se?

    Your opinion is requested.

Thanks for your advice. He agrees with your saying that the start / stop sems to be buggy.

It's only disable it every time that you enable VMware HA.

But it works (if enabled) and may be useful to define how the system starts up.

  • 'Create a snapshot of the Virtual Machine' suspended the process - how to kill?

I tried to rename a virtual machine when I received a message from VCenter that "another task is already underway."

I did some research and found that the virtual machine, I am trying to rename is currently creating a snapshot of the Virtual Machine.  Or - at least the host thinks Yes.

The snap was initiated by vpxuser about 20:00 in the night a few days - and is still ongoing.  I can't kill him since the VIC when it is directly attached to the host.

Looking to my data warehouses - I don't see that he actually created the snap, because I see no 0000001 or something like that.   At this point, I don't like, I don't know why he even launched the snap in the first place.

Is there a way I can kill that process with the help of the console?   It's hosted on vSphere 4.

  • How to stop a virtual machine to automatically close after a period of inactivity

I have a VM 2012 server acting as a domain controller in a test environment.  I do not work on it a lot, but he must run as I work on test VMs (W7 and W8).

The problem is after a period of inactivity, the server vm stop all services and stops.  I did some research and found some vague allusions to a script that can be changed in vmware tools, but I am not able to start a GUI tools to look at again.  I have re-installed the tools, but still cannot open any type of interface to work with the tools, and I don't even know if this is the right place to resolve this problem.

Also has anyone seen this problem?

What is a facility properly licensed and activated Windows Server 2012?

  • Comments automatically suspend after the 4.1 update

I am running VMware Fusion on a Mac OS X 10.7.3. After you have installed the 4.1 update, I noticed that my comments are suspended automatically after 20-25 minutes. They also show a black screen instead of a preview of the last state that guest was before suspending. There are various Windows 7 x 64 and invited Linux. He is running on a Mac Pro with an Intel Xeon "Nehalem" CPU and 12 GB DDR3 - RAM. When a guest is suspended, I check activity monitor, and he claims that a large part of my RAM has not been used since the last start, so it would not be caused by a lack of RAM.

Change your options of power inside the virtual machine. The screen blanks and then finally goes to sleep. When the customer goes to sleep, Fusion actually suspends the VM.  IF you disable within windows sleep mode and do not forget to disable the shutter screen too since it is the last thing that Fusion sees until the virtual machine goes to sleep.

  • Automatically power on virtual machines

I came this morning and all our virtual machines have been turned off. We had a power outage during the night, but the servers and the SAN is attached to a UPS system and they were on when I arrived. I don't know why virtual machines powered off, perhaps servers do you have and then returned when the power was restored? Virtual machines should automatically power on when the host is turned on or is it something that needs to be configured?

    Thank you.

If it is a stand-alone host, not in a HA cluster, you can set options for start/stop. Go to the Configuration tab on the host computer and the virtual machine start/stop.  In the upper right corner, click the properties link.

Wondered what methods people use to have virtual machines configured automatically on specific UO when first creating Fund pools. I would like to automate this process so that the appropriate group policy be applied to virtual machines when creating. Thank you!
