VMware Server names cannot be resolved

I have two linux centos machines installed in my computer under windows 7.  I can ping each other machines linux with IP, but not with the host name. Is there some way it can not change hosts/etc/hosts on both machines?

I put two machines in the c:\ProgramData\VMware\vmnetdhcp.conf in the form of:

host centost {}

Hardware ethernet 00: 0C: 29:b7:13:8f;

fixed-address 10.22.33.11;

Host-name of the "centost" option

}

host centosd {}

Hardware ethernet 00: 0C: 29:ee:c9:e1;

fixed-address 10.22.33.13;

Host-name of the "centosd" option

}

The two /etc/resolv.conf I have the same name server IP address.

Post edited by: andrej7 I forgot to mention that I have NAT network and use workstation version 9.0.2 thanks

It won't work /etc/resolv.conf on job creation. you will need to have or install the DNS software on the workstation or you will need to create a separate DNS Windows or Linux Bind server for name resolution.

Thank you

    I changed the Windows Server that hosts the vCenter server host name, (not the domain), and he broke the following plugins:

    vCenter State of the material

    The error is:

    The following error occurred during the download of the plugin script of https://nnn:8443/cim-ui/scriptConfig.xml: The remote name could not be resolved: 'nnn.nnn.nnn'

    I can ping and resolve properly the BONE

    An entry for this new host name has been added in WIndows & gt; System32 & gt; Drivers & gt; etc, but I think that it does not seem necessary.

    The vCenter server has been restarted after each change.

    The error message shows that vCenter always uses the old host name in the \cim-ui\scriptConfig.xml file.

    I found the file C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\tomcat\webapps\cim-ui\scriptConfig.xml , but this does not contain the host name values, as I expected.

    runtime error (8:634) msxml3.dll the server name or address cannot be resolved

    that is not the program causing this error - who took ok I guess.
    I'm so gone in my program list to delete all those which I think are dubious or is no longer necessary
    all the rest have been removed ok.

    Hi Silverwand,

    ·         Exactly how are you trying to access to add or remove programs?

    ·         Is the limited any question by going to add or remove the tool program or with other tools as well in Control Panel?

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:

    Method 1: You can try to run add or remove program through the key to execution and check

    a. press the Windows key + R

    b. type appwiz.cpl and press on ENTRY.

    Method 2: You can try to re - register the msxml3.dll file and check.

    If the file is in the correct path to the right size, then try and re-save the file.

    a. click on Start

    b. click run

    c. type: regsvr32 msxml3.dll

    d. click enter

    e. restart your computer.

    Method 3: I suggest that scan you SFC [SFC system] on the computer that would be a system file corrupt on the computer search and replace.

    a. click Start, click run, type cmd in the Open box and then click OK.

    b. at the command prompt, type sfc/scannow, and then press ENTER.

    Note: Could you prompt to insert the Windows XP CD.

    The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

    Gerry,

    Looks like you have one of two problems:

    1. The VMware Server service does not work. You can check this by opening Windows Services console (start > run > services.msc) and find names of service starting with "VMware".... »

    2. Your hostname cannot solve on your local machine. Try going to https://localhost:8333 / ui /

    I am trying to accept an invitation from my mom's remote assistance and this is what I got after entering the password: connect Remote Assistance could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer cannot be resolved.

    You get the error "a Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer could not be resolved" when the requesting computer (the computer 'demand' help) sends its private IP address instead of its public IP address in the request for assistance. The solution is 'easy' for some and difficult for others. I present here for your perusal:

    (1) obtain the public IP address of the requesting computer (by visiting a web page such as http://www.whatismyip.com)
    (2) save the remote assistance request computers
    (3) modify the remote request for Assistance (RcBuddy.MsRcIncident) using a text editor (such as notepad) and replace the private - section of IP address should be something like this:
    RCTICKET = 65538,1,192.168.1.33:3389 «»
    with the public IP address from whatismyip.com or elsewhere - should be something like this:
    RCTICKET = 65538,1,74.125.47.147:3389 «»
    (4) save the file of RcBuddy.MsRcIncident 'new '.
    (5) double click it to connect to the computer needing help
    (6) cross your fingers and hope it works!

    I hope this helps someone else - if it's too much trouble, feel free to use the tools mentioned elsewhere in this thread.

  • dynamically related files cannot be resolved due to an internal server error

    Hey there, I just worked through a Lynda.com tutorial on creating a Wordpress template in Dreamweaver, and I did everything to the T step by step.  I have set up a local server (mamp) before, but I've also followed this tutorial first to make sure that I was doing that well too. I followed the tutorial template Wordpress all the way until it was time to work on the CSS file.  When I went to 'discover the dynamically linked files' it gives me the error message: "linked files dynamically cannot be resolved due to an internal server error."  For the life of me I can't understand what is wrong for what I can fix it.  Without all the associated all files work that I just have to configure php files of header, footer, index, etc. is pretty useless.  How to understand what is the "internal server error" and fix it?  Help, please!

    Certainly, you should be able to view WordPress in Live View mode.

    Hi Eva,

    Thanks for posting on Microsoft Community. According to your description, it seems that you couldn't configure Gmail on Outlook and you receive error 0x800CCC0F. If I'm not mistaken you have Microsoft Outlook 2003 is installed.

    This happens usually when there are questions about the server. If you have not been able to set up the account successfully, I suggest you read this article that shows how to set up email on Outlook accounts.

  • Cannot save the virtual machine in VMWare Server 2

    Hi all:

    I created a VM (12.1 OpenSuSE 32bits) in VMWare Workstation 7; then I copied it to a host VMWare Server 2.

    When I try to save the virtual machine via the web, the server fails (or at least interrupts the response from Web page), so I tried to save it via command line.

    After searching a bit I found this:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1006160

    The question is now that I can't find any vmware-cmd anywhere, and when I run vmware-vim-cmd I get the following error:

    vmh2: / data/vmachines/postgresql-box # vim - vmware - cmd solo/registervm /data/vmines/postgresql-box/postgresql-box.vmx
    Connection failed: vim.fault.NoPermission

    So I'm stuck... someone can help me?

    BTW: what is ESX, ESXi and what version of ESXi is included in VMWare Server 2?

    Thank you very much

    Luis

    I can't tell you exactly what are the causes of the problem. What I would try (a solution) is to create a new virtual machine in VMware Server with the same specifications as the original one, then copy the two files hard in the new virtual machine folder and edit the .vmx file for the new VM 'OpenSuSE - 12.1 - cl1 - 000001.vmdk' use as its virtual drive.

  • Cannot add existing VM to VMware Server 2.0.2 on Debian Linux

    It is apparently a fairly general failure, and I don't know where to start to look at to diagnose.  I hope that I just have something wrong set somewhere.

    I try to add an existing virtual machine in Windows 7 (created on VMware Fusion 2.x, then migrated to Fusion 3.0) to my new dedicated VMware Server 2 fancy box.  I copied the entire VM directory structure (in a toplevel .vmware directory) to the same subdirectory where the other virtual machines on VMware Server 2 box.  I click on the link 'Add Virtual Machine inventory' and go to the virtual machine and click the .vmx file.  Then, I get this error:

    The server could not complete a request (HTTP 0 ).
    The server encountered an unexpected condition that prevented it from fulfilling the request. If this problem persists, please contact your system administrator.

    When I clicked OK, I find that the webservice of VMware seems to be declining.  I get no response from the port 8222 or 8333.  I'm not very familiar with command line tools, so the only way I know to get back on the administration interface is to restart VMware itself.

    I am running VMware Server 2.0.2 - 203138, x86_64 rely on an Intel Xeon chip with four cores.  The host operating system is Debian 5.0.3 ("Lenny"), amd64 build.

    19:45:38.342 Dec 11: vmx | \[msg.monitorInit.vmm64.initHost.VTDisabled1\] this host is VT-capable but VT is not enabled.

    19:45:38.342 Dec 11: vmx | \[msg.monitorInit.vmm64.initHost.VTDisabled2\] it is usually due to a BIOS/firmware issue.  Please:

    19:45:38.342 Dec 11: vmx | (1) check that the BIOS/firmware settings enable VT mode.

    19:45:38.342 Dec 11: vmx | 2. turn on the host, if the BIOS/firmware VT settings have been changed at the start.

    19:45:38.342 Dec 11: vmx | (3) turn on the host if you have not done since the installation of VMware Server.

    Just do what is said.  Go into the BIOS of your host settings and make sure that VT mode.  Save and exit, and then turn the computer off (some people even advise to disconnect the power cord).  VT in the BIOS setting is notorious for not making effective changes until that you turn on the computer.
