Volume control turns itself higher

I'm new to Vista.  Here's the problem: suddenly pops up a blue window with a counter of volume and the speaker and the computer volume caps.  If I open the volume control and move the slider to a lower level of the volume, the volume goes up.  Finally, the window disappears, but don't know where it comes from or how to eliminate it.  Nothing happens if I left-click or right-click on the blue window.  I'm not using a mouse, I use the touchpad.  It undergoes by contacting the touchpad?  Is this a virus?  I can't find all the controls for this and has never seen anything like this in XP.  It's incredibly boring, but I also understand that it may be something I do by mistake or due to a setting that may have to be modified.

Brian-

Thanks for your help.  I was following your instructions and try to isolate the problem.  So here's what happened.  My daughter has been using a Dell laptop, just like mine.  She had to lower its volume, while she hits an icon located above the keyboard and the blue window opens! It turns out that this is a feature on the Dell laptops.  There is a problem with it, but it's problem of Dell to resolve, not Microsoft.  The thing that amazes me, I called Dell for support and had to go through reset my computer to factory settings and tell him of this window was caused by a virus.  Thanks for the help, you helped me to understand, it's a matter of Dell.

  • Volume control causes trouble high priority thread

A few weeks ago, when I was finishing my "Flix" app and adjust the priorities of the threads, I noticed that the wire audio high priority interfered with the volume buttons of the PlayBook. Specifically, it could support you on a volume button and nothing would happen, at least not for a second or two. It was as if the priority of the audio thread was so high that it prevented the OS to respond to the pressure on the hardware button to the user.

This week, the behavior is quite different: the volume controls work fine, but as soon as you press on one of them, the audio wire starts to fight, and the audio gets all the "poppy/static ' y '.

The really strange thing is that even though the notification of change of volume disappears from the screen, the sound remains ' poppy/static ' y ', as if the volume permanently change event interferes with the audio wire.

I was wondering if the OS was lowering the priority of the thread on an event of volume change, but I think I have excluded that... when I ask the audio thread for its priority, remains at 63 before and after the events of volume change.

So it is obviously very confusing... How the hell a single volume change event could interfere with the audio thread of the application until the end of the execution of the application? (Even if the application gets a "break" due to need extra buffer audio and video, as soon as the audio continues, it is always static'y)

The other thing that may or may not be related, it's that last week my PlayBook prompted me that there is an update of the OS.  The strange thing is that the version of the update seems to be exactly the same as the version of the operating system I had, and it was only 3 MB. I can't help but wonder if this is somehow related to the change of behavior that I see.

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Daniel

I finally understood how to prevent the volume control to cause audio problems.

    Here's the long answer:

-My app plays WAV files back to back. There was a slight "couture" in the audio that I tried to get rid of.

-A point I tried removed calls to snd_pcm_open and snd_mixer_open whenever a WAV file has been played, thinking that maybe something to do with the small gap in the audio.

-I didn't know at the time, but I think it's when editing of the volume begun resulting in distortions on the audio.

-Distortions are prevented by listening to events of volume change, and when it is received, ensure what I call snd_pcm_open and snd_mixer_open to the next WAV file playback.

  • Satellite Pro A200-PSAE4E: Volume control moves without any breakpoint

First time I've used this excuse. Just bought my second Toshiba this time Satellite Pro A200-PSAE4E Vista Business. The volume control turns both clockwise and anti hourly without any breakpoint that it in either... just begins to turn.

Increase and decrease the volume but it is unpredicatble and the fact that there is no breakpoint on the rotation of the wheel is I wonder if there is a fault? Seems strange to me.

  • Satellite Pro A200/PSAE7 - turn volume change without end, not smooth Volume control

    Hello

On my newly purchased Pro A200/PSAE7 control (hardware) volume - front, as soon as speaker - turns without end and when you use the volume does not change "smooth" - more "brutal". For this reason, there is no possible to 'fine tuning '.

Q: is - that someone else has the same side material (without end of turn) and the software side (without smooth volume change) situation?

Thanks a lot for any response in advance!

    Hello

'problem' of the abrupt volume changes when turn the volume control has disappeared. I don't know if it's based on disable "TDispVol.exe" as startup service or another reason.

  • Tecra M1 high slope Screech of volume control

    Hello:

For a little while that now there was a sharp cry when the volume was turned up. He started at the upper end of the volume and systematically, it started when you only carefully increase the volume. Now the volume control should stay off.

There is no interference when connected and it also happens when the computer is in stand-alone mode when they travel.

Tecra M1 is now 18 months old and, also, the modem does not work with any sound by modem and the Port remains closed. It is now, when you are far away DSL, using a portable modem if wifi is not available.

    TIA.

    Martin

    Hello

In my opinion, you must change the speaker volume in the properties of the Modem software. As far as I know the settings should be set to the second stage.
You can find it in: Device Manager-> Modem-> Modem Properties
Second if you want to use the Modem must be disabled the option wait for the dial tone before dialing.

    Best regards

  • How can I activate my volume higher than does the volume control

I would like to get more than allows the volume control. Just don't go to loud. I have a toshiba laptop with Windows 7.

    Hello

I suggest you to add speakers to the audio output of the laptop. If you use small speakers that were included with the computer, you will not get the best performance available. New speakers offer more options to optimize the audio output.

Also buy a set with a subwoofer if you want quality entertainment at home or in your office.

  • IOS App Remote - Volume control issues

OK, so I downloaded the app recently released for Apple TV IOS. Everything works as expected, except the inconsistent Volume control.

I have two Vizio TVs in my house - E701i-A3 and models M401i-A3. The volume via IOS app works perfectly on my E701i-A3 - pressing iPhone volume buttons triggers change in volume on the soundbar attached to this set.

No luck with my M401i-A3 not set - by pressing the volume iPhone buttons does cause changes in local ringtone volume iPhone... that tells me something is not right with audio control EAC between ATV4 and the TV set. I do not use soundbar with this set - internal speakers only.

Both sets are running the latest firmware of Vizio and CEC/audio is enabled. No problem to control the volume or turn the sets/turn off via the remote Siri material.

Kind of ideas here... anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be with my Vizio M401i-A3 defined? Someone at - it got IOS volume remote control works with other models of TV?

Volume control requires HDM - CEC to ensure compatibility. It is quite possible that only one of your TV is compatible.

I had a few glitches to mail to work but got there. Then I realized that I had no sound. The volume control is grayed and the button is at MAX, but there is no sound.

I can't try to find where a control can be hidden which let me re - turn on the volume. Nobody knows what it takes to turn on the sound?

    Hello

The port microphone or line is not because you are looking for this audio * output parameters.
The microphone is a device of entry so it s not who listed there.

If you go into the volume settings > options > properties you can switch to HD Audio input.
Now you can change the volume of the microphone! :)

Volume control stopped working a few days ago.  She slips back on the screen and volume button forces to do the same.  The volume never changes.

Hello and welcome to the HP support community!

Have you tried to reboot the device?

You see a headphones icon in the corner?  Try to insert and remove a headphone jack.

Does the device he uses a Bluetooth audio device?  Turn BlueTooth off, restart the device, and then try again.

  • Re: Satellite P200-123 volume control wheel

Is it a mechanical or software driven command?

If I turn the wheeel 'up' the volume sometimes breaks down? It doesn't seem to be a 'stop' on the wheel.

    All tips are welcome

    Thank you

    Hello

the volume control of the Satellite P200 is a software engine, so it has no physical stop like on older machines, which means that there are some disadvantages about the time to change the flight and the reaction control.
Don t ask me why they have implemented this software wheel-driven, but each new series of machines there and it s predictable that they will stay with this technique...

You work quietly with the steering wheel to avoid such phenomena as spin the wheel 'up', but the volume down.
I have the same on my Tecra S5 and it drives me crazy sometimes, but I have to live with it...

    Welcome them

  • Massage "cannot Access Volume Control!" on my Satellite L20

I have this strange problem on my laptop Satellite L20-100 with Windows XP Pro pre-installed.
When I turned on the laptop this morning I got this massage WARNIG: "Can t Access Volume Control!", then I noticed that the (Windows) Volume control icon does not appear in the system tray of taskbar.

Generally, the sound works under Windows. When I go to control panel-> sounds and devices Audio-> Volume V is marked near the "place volume icon taskbar", I tried to deselect and score again. It still does not appear, if I can change the volume here (Panel-> Sound) and Audio-> Volume devices and it works, but when I try to change it with Fn + up/down the whole bar is red because he does not see the sound card or something.

I tried to reinstall the audio driver, nothing happens.
This actually happened before, the first time that reinstalling Windows helped, I think.
Anyone have any idea what should I do? Thanks in advance...

If this problem occurred suddenly have you tried to roll back OS to an earlier time using System Restore tool?

  • Satellite Pro P300 - problem with volume control

    Hello

I have a problem with my volume control. He worked for the first two months of use value, but now refuses to lower the sound.
He sort of stutters and actually transforms the sound upward when you turn, he 'left' to drop.

I markets DEAMS it is a digital control and therefore is not a point 'end' like other laptops. I also noticed others are experieicing this problem.

Is there a solution to this problem? I don't really like having to manually click on the volume control in the status bar on the window in order to be able to turn the laptop down. Maybe someone can help me?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

In your case, I recommend reinstalling the audio driver and controls (with Win XP) Toshiba or Toshiba VAP (if Vista is installed).
In addition, you should check if the BIOS can be updated too.

Sorry for this suggestion, but in my opinion that the question must be related software and the fact is that driver sound and the VAP multimedia button controls and the sound card.

It of certainly worth a try

  • Satellite P300 - 13 M - Volume control letters

I have a little problem with my Volume control on the front of my laptop.
If I turn it, the volume of the laptop will not change.
But for some reason, he wrote 'c' and 'b '.

For example. When I type an email and I want to change the volume by turning the volume (up and down) control, I get this:
    ccccccbbccccccccccccccccccccccccccbbccccccbbccccc
As soon I turn it up and down more ' BS I get.
It is really strange and frustrating. Have been locking for drivers to fix this, but there is no driver for it.

    Can someone help me please.
(And recover my full book isn't an option)

    Hello

Akuma wrote it's very strange. You must also understand that no one here can say with certainty why this happens, but we can start this discussion with some questions.

The fact is that every laptop comes with the pre-installed recovery image. This image is tested and something like that should not happen. The questions are:

Are you still using this factory or you have installed your own operating system?
Have you noticed this strange behavior from the first day?
Maybe did you install additional software that may be responsible for this?

At the end one thing: maybe you should try radical and install OS using created recovery media. After doing this, you will again have to factory settings. It will be interesting to see if the problem persists. If so, I think that this is the case for the authorized service provider.
