vSphere 6 / 6.1 Horizon / vGPU Office assignment

Hello community,

I have a question regarding vGPU deployments. I have a server with two K2 and I want to use the 8 Virtual with the profile K240Q workstations and 16 virtual desktops with the profile of the K220Q.

This attribution of profile would fit perfectly in the two K2 (GPU0: 4xK240Q, GPU1: 4xK240Q, GPU2: 8xK220Q, GPU3: 8xK220Q).

I saw, if I boot four virtual desktops K220Q, view environment starts a K220Q by gpu physical profile, which makes it impossible to launch another virtual desktop K240Q because different profiles can be shared on the same physical unit of GPU.

Is anyone else found this problem?

Best regards

Michael

If you plan to support for the types mixed vGPU on one system, you can change the investment strategy.

On the ESX host, add "vGPU.consolidation = true" to the file/etc/vmware/config.

With this policy, as VMs will be assigned to a physical GPU until it is fully charged.

  • Search DR. for line of dashboard, dynamic table to retrieve the offices assigned table

    Hello

I don't have information on the role of the user when running in the session variable.
    Not in the database.

Now, to get office that manages a Manager I need to get the role, i.e. "areamanager".
and the username "mike01" to recover the offices "mike01" manages (sql with two parameters?).

It is possible that a local 'bob12' Office Manager uses the same table edge OBIEE but for him
the role is 'localmanager' and he would see only the office works in, not all the other offices "mike01" also manages.

If I had roles in an array of DB Oracle, it would be easy. I'd create just a view of the mapping.
The problem is, I do not have this information in the DB, but I need
to prefilter the dash prompt, so the "localmanager" can't select
all offices but only his own. "mike01" on the other hand, all its functions.

Now, how do I do that? I thought about the new .rpd 11g function lookup table to pass session variables to
a SQL function or procedure. Which seems doable?

    Hi metalray,

Not sure about the transmission session variables return from a procedure...

But a simple way to do this is to have several guests, one for each role.  Filter them according to your requirements, place them on the dashboard and conditionally hide them based on the role of the user so that only the appropriate message appears.

  • vROPS Horizon and high processor WmiPrvSE.exe Office Agent

We lack v6.1.0 Agent of skyline view that has the Operations Manager of vRealize built in agent.  With the operation of the service "VMware vRealize Agent of Horizon Operations Office", we find that 4-10% CPU usage (our VDI sessions are two of vCPU) of WmiPrvSE.exe.  Using the process monitor the process constantly trying to access the C:\Windows\System32\tzres.dll file which seems to cover the Windows time zone setting.  When the service is disabled as Wmiprvse.exe disappears and CPU goes back down.  Anyone has any ideas on what the heck is going on?  It's much too broad for a monitoring tool and you just want to remove all together.  We had this problem from the beginning (running vROPS 6 within our environment 5.3 view before the upgrade).

    Thank you

Just a quick update... we have disabled the service vRealize and the CPU has dropped down.  We had trouble finding the value of the product anyway so we have stopped using it.

  • VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.0 NIC not recognized

    Hi all

I intend to install VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.0 in my own office, but the network adapter may not be recognized. My network card is Realtek rtl81111C, which is integrated in the motherboard Gigabyte. I want to buy a network card, could you suggest a good market (PCI, PCIe two OK) which is supported for VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.0 for my office?

    Hello

You can search for network cards supported here: http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=io

If it's just for the study, you might also install VMware Player or workstation (the player is free for commercial nun) and run the vSphere Hypervisor as a virtual machine.

Does not give you optimal performance, but to study it is enough, and you don't need hardware supported for ESXi.

  • vSphere Web Client fails

I'm not sure of the right forum for this question. I am trying to connect from my desktop to the Web Client for a vCenter Server 5.1.0. All I get is 'cannot display this page' or a close equivalent in IE, Firefox or Chrome. However, I am able to connect to the vCenter using the old client vSphere. And everyone in my office is able to connect to the vCenter uses the Web Client, so I'm the only person who can not. My workstation reboot didn't help. I've got VMware customer integration plugin 5.1.0 installed on my workstation. What can I do to fix this?

    Thank you!

You are able to open the vCenter server's default web page?

Please check if there are firewall rules or settings of proxy in place that prevent you to access the Web Client.

  • VSphere ESXi4.0 - need help upgrade and increase the size of disk to the server

    Hello

I have the free version of the VSphere ESXi4.0, I'm looking to do 2 things:

    (1) Upgarde to the last free version of Vsphere. Can you point me to the upgrade of the software and the path correct upgarde?

    (2) I have 2 servers running in the machine.  One is a Windows 2008 R2. I need to increase the size of disk for this server. Currently, it is 144 GB. I need to increase it up to 260 GB. How can I do this? I tried to simply increase the size by increasing the C of this server disk Edition by the 40 to 80 GB VSphere client and D ranging from 100 GB and 200 GB drive [I'm running out of space]. But the Vsphere shows again that the orginial 140 assignment or not the new 280 Gb.

    Help, please. Thanks in advance

You must go into Windows on the virtual machine and use the disk management tools to extend the volume. It is a two stage process where you first set the VM, then the second step is to adjust the windows.

  • What permission to assign to the user

    Hi all!

We are currently using vsphere Client 4.1 and have 12 hosts on ESX 4.1

We have two new departures that require access to a virtual machine in vsphere Client. I was responsible for assigning permissions to access.

When I click on the VM and on the permissions tab, I can see all those who are entitled to this topic.

What right do I need to assign them so that when they log in vsphere Client they see the VM I let see and not the rest of them.

I added the user user (sample) to the Virtual Machine and even Admin, but when they connect, they see always all our servers instead of just one.

Any help is appreciated as always greatly,

    Austin.

    Hello

    Connection in the vSphere client

--> Guests and Clusters--> vCenterserver-->--> permission add NoAccess role to the user permission (which you want to access only VM is not servers), and then select the virtual machine--> permission--> permission to add--> the role that you want to add the user.

    Hope this will help you

  • vWorkspace with Novell eDirectory

    Hi all

VWorkspace can be proposed and deployed in a unique environment of Novell eDirectory? I came across these 2 post http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/virtualization/vworkspace/b/vworkspace-blog/archive/2012/07/19/qwdv-vworkspace-7-6-feature-spotlight-user-profiles-in-novell-environments andhttp://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/virtualization/vworkspace/b/vworkspace-blog/archive/2010/09/28/temporary-client-assignment discussed both on user profile management and virtual office assignment for Novell environment. What concerns me, is the provision of virtual offices, because I think that part of the process will attempt to reach the office configured in Active Directory. Would it still work if Active Directory is non-existence in a Novell environment? Of other "witch hunt" or limitations that you guys met in the application vWorkspace in a pure Novell environment?

Thanks for any advice in advance

    Kind regards

    Cyril

    Hi Cyrill

"Can vWorkspace be proposed and deployed in a unique environment of Novell eDirectory?

    short answer: no

I have install vWorkspace 7.6. desktops for Novell to logon.

In my setup the Machines (Hyper-V, vWorksapce broker, office computers) are deployed in AD.

The InstantProvisioning Service on the needs of the virtual office AD joined computer objects. I Recomment InstantProvisioning on Sysprep. Changes to the Master model I have just started the master of the domain joined to make changes and make a "slmgr.vbs /rearm' new import model - stop - that's all. No sysprep or anything here.

How then to provide Novell to logon for users?

They need to connect with vWorkspace - there will be a commercial or Windows account local (Version 7.6). I use a local model Windows account on the Machine broker vWorkspace and pre-fill the identification information in the Web Site of WebAccess.

I will not use the fake account of Windows for Office Access because this could lead to Sessions exceeded in the worst case.

    To achieve this:

    I disable pncredprov.dll on desktop

Configure computers to use the RDP security layer - this will bring up the Interactive home for logon screen.

Real logon is done by a combination of pgina.org and the Novell Client. Page provides LDAP authentication, and creates a local user of Windows on the desktop. Novell Client in passthrough mode will make Novell authentication - seemless to the user.

In this case we don't need user profiles. Instead, I use a "pre-defined" for the newly created user profile. Configure computers to return to service after logout - it's one thing to go simple.

vWorkspace 8 with 'anonymous' functionality could be useful. I think that AD is always necessary for computer accounts and InstantProvisioning.

    Best regards

  • RDP in the remote computer works for only 1 of the 2 local machines almost identical

I have a laptop and desktop at home, and I'm eager to distance in my work machine. The laptop can RDP into my machine to work very well, but I was not able to understand why my office cannot. I was even able to RDP in my work from my office machine in the past (a few months ago), but now he can't. Here is the error message I get on the desktop after the RDP authentication will fail; the laptop can connect correctly by using the same credentials.

Both are running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits.

Both use supplied with windows Remote Desktop connection application.

Both access to the internet via a wireless connection (the desktop equipped with a wireless adapter computer) connected to the same router.

Both are fully updated with updates of Windows and run the same antivirus.

The two successfully connect to a VPN software that connects very well and uses the same network as my work computer credentials.

Both must connect using the same login information, which are the same login information that I use at work.

On the desktop, I tried and failed with the following text:

Disabling the Antivirus and Windows Firewall.

Copy and run the RDP file saved to the laptop on the desk.

Reinstalling the VPN software on the desktop.

The only difference between the two that I can think is that my office does not require a password to connect; but it doesn't stop me of remoting in the working computer in the past, and my computer configuration has changed very little since then.

What else can check to figure out what could be allowing the laptop through, but deny the Office? Any help is appreciated, because I prefer to use my home office instead (two monitors, better equipment, etc.).

I was able to find a workaround for this problem, well that is not ideal. It seems that my work computer and desktop home somehow at some point got the same network IP address (192.168.1.106, at least by trying to connect to my work machine). Even if not connected via VPN software, they both have the same network IP address. That's why I was able to connect to another computer on the network, but not my machine specific work; My Home Office thought he needed to connect to itself. So what I was for my home desktop to have a different network IP address. my laptop has had a (192.168.1.3) which differed from the work machine.

What I did to work around that it was:

On my desktop, I opened the command prompt and run the ipconfig command and writes down the subnet mask and the default gateway of my wireless connection for use in later steps.

I then roughly followed the steps of this (somewhat similar to Windows 7) site to modify the IPv4 settings to change from automatic to manual IP address assignment. Set it to manual and back (i.e. reset) has not worked for me and has given rise to the same network IP address. So, using the values of the ipconfig I ran earlier, I chose a random network IP (192.168.1.42) address, left the settings to manual assignment and find other info. For DNS servers, I use Google's Public DNS.

The end result looks like the following and I am able to connect to my work from my home office machine.

    EDIT:

After a little more work and looking around, I could cancel the settings above (thus leaving my office with the default settings) and solve the problem of logging in my router settings and my office assign an IP network (192.168.1.42) using its MAC address. As long as I don't have to RDP into a computer to work with the IP address assigned, it will work very well.

I would mark this as the answer but do not see how.

  • WRVS4400N VPN Passthrough issues

I had a WRVS4400N router for 8-9 months. When it is connected to a remote VPN, the PC will go down intermittently to connect to the remote VPN server. Anything running on the connection, such as distance or vSphere client or network file browsing, office will be temporarily unusable, then the connection is re-established. Usually one drop lasts several seconds and varies in frequency.

    A few notes:

-I can reproduce the problem with more than one PC.

-Both wired and wireless connections are affected.

-If I use an old Linksys WRT router or connect directly to the internet modem, I don't see the problem.

-J' have tried disabling UPnP, firewall and IPS without success.

I tried using wireshark, but can't identify something specific. The traffic seems to just stop for 5-10 seconds before resuming.

    Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.

    Mr Champion,

Have you tried just the quickvpn client and the view if your always get disconnected?

If it is stable and pull-out decision still does not work, maybe try to download a fresh firmware of cisco.com, then reflash the router with firmware then reset factory of the router and manually reconfigure your settings and see if your seeing the same issue.

I would like to know how it works.
