vWorkspace Linux VDI

Hello

Its a little complicated setup, but I'm working on creating a 50 virtual Linux desktops for a class of college on Hyper-V. I created the computer group (new computer group > other/physical) where I placed the CentOS linux. These machines are 6.6 CentOS, I installed xRDP and I use the VDE 7.7. All work of CDS as expected, but my question is is it possible to suspend the machines if they are not used to conserve resources because under this type of group properties 'Energy savings' is grayed out? It seems that energy savings are enabled only for Windows computers group. Is it possible to generate scripts suspend the virtual machine, until someone is trying to access?

I have 2 servers three gateways Hyper V, 2 x connection brokers, x RDP.

Hello

You should be able to create the Group of Linux as a desktop computer HyperV group rather than an 'other/physical', this should allow you to then define energy savings.

Let us know if it works?

Thank you

Sam

  • Windows Mobile Device Center does not not with vWorkspace

That we conduct vWorkspace 8.6 on the connector of Ubuntu.  Our VDI is Windows 7 Pro.

USB redirection works because I can plug my USB and it it will redirect to the VDI and I can see my files.  When I anchor a MC1000 it will show as "Symbol USB Sync" in the devices section not specified in devices and printers.  When I open WMDC he is not recognized and does not connect to the device.  I also tried a MC9190 and have the same result.

Has anyone tried this before with positive results?

    Hello

In the Linux connector it is an Auto-Share checkbox, make sure that you enable this option and it will recognize the USB inside VDI VM HR.

I use the same method, but with purely custom Linux VDI endpoint devices. Enabling the option to Auto-Share it recognizes the USB with no problems.

  • MIB (SNMP) library as vWorkspace 8.5 and 8.0 MR1

    Hi all

I'm looking for MIB library to monitor a vWorkspace Envrionement 8.5 and 8.0 MR1 with PRTG monitoring software.

I already searched inside a foglight installation, but this very difficult, causing thousands of MIB

Are there recommendations or with the case of information (MIB) files.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me

    Kind regards

    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

We do not have the MIB files specifically for vWorkspace environments because I believe that we do not support SNMP.

What exactly you were trying to monitor? The built-in Diagnostics monitoring vWorkspace & who uses WinRM (or WMI) should give you everything you need to monitor your environment vWorkspace. He oversees infrastructure vWorkspace (hypervisors, VDI VMs, RDSH and from 8.6 RDL and WSM), user session and applications performance and also allows you to establish a correlation between the performance of the system with the user sessions and the ecosystem integer vWorkspace.

If you only want to use PRTG monitoring, I don't know how it works unfortunately. Do Paessler / PRTG have best practices on how to integrate with existing management platforms (other than SNMP MIB files)?

  • Connecting to Linux Desktop

    Hello

I just got manual office pool of Linux upward and running based on the documentation provided and the youtube video that was posted a few weeks back. I'm under RHEL 6.6 with the last installed display software.

Initially, I connected via a browser web to the Linux desktop pool and able to connect without any problems.  My only complaint is that the office is not resized to the current size of the browser.  The current maximum resolution is 1280 x 768.

I also tried to connect from a Client display Windows and zero Tera2 customer but without success.  The error message I get is "this office does not support the requested protocol display.

    Any help is very appreciated.

Found the problem.  My http load balancer has been playing with the traffic between the client and the Linux host.  With the removed load balancing, I am able to connect to desktop Linux.

The new Linux VDI Protocol is therefore essentially VNC through websockets?  As this would explain why the load balancer is of no relevance since I set it up for websockets proxy traffic.

With the connection problem now "solved" (I wish I had the web load balancing and proxy in place), I now see a Linux desktop, but it has a maximum resolution of 1280 x 768.  Is there an option where I can get a higher resolution fullscreen?  If I run a VNC server session I can adjust the resolution to something that is greater than what is available in my Office VDI session.

I found some instructions on the link below for VDE, but I'm unable to configure Linux and I can deploy it via connector vWorkspace to our students. For example in the guide below his allusion to some prep vwts scripts that I ache to locate. No idea if there are How - to's on how to successfully deploy Linux?

Note: Students need not GUI/desktop experience in CentOS, they are OK with power of SSH for virtual machines.

    Hello

The VDE 7.7 you downloaded on your machine model? You can download here:

    https://support.software.Dell.com/download-install-detail/5075773?prodjid=1-7GCB8-423

In this download is a file called VDEFORLINUX\Provisioning

Choose the folder for CentOs, 'EL', in here will be the vwts script you need.

Which version of CentOS you try to deploy? We currently support only 5.9 and 6.4 but supoprt 6.5 will be available soon.

    I hope this helps!

I have the same problem. I opened a folder with support and they are studying.

Meanwhile, I have found a workaround. It seems that the problem is related to pnmicsrv.dll for vworkspace versions superior to 7,6 GA at least the question seemed to us after application of a patch for this version and it reappeared after upgrade to v8. In both cases I solved it replaces the pnmicsrv.dll file in our model with the dll version 7.6 of GA

    THX in advance

    Thomas

This question is not met at the time of the request

I created a Blog post to allow other servers to 2012r2 2012r2 of remote assistance.

However, it is not possible to use 2012r2 to help a win7 server remotely. It is simply not supported by MS and there is nothing we can do.

If you can create a server 2008r2 to run the Management Console, you will be able to assist distance Win7 VDIs from here.

  • A quick fix for the fix option 336711 for 7.7 vWorkspace Virtual Desktop Extensions for Linux

I might be the only person who has had this problem, but in case I'm not... Read on.

This applies to users running the script vwts_ubu.sh in the stages of commissioning.

Your script will fail on line 402 by saying he had too many arguments. The question lies in the way the script queries the status of the firewall... (essentially the ufw status line returns several lines as column 2... I had to modify the line 402 to add a 'head - n 1' hose to make it work...

    Hello

Thanks for that - I'll pass it along to our Linux Devs to fix in a future version.

  • Sober Aclaraciones VDI

We have to prepare a project sober vdi, hecho ando y a UN lio poco, me explico.

    Esto are asi?

No are you can hacer con thinclients? Porque según los of citrix, NO.ellos our dicen as XenApp, Xendesktop utilizemos're para casos muy concretos of Quebec.

Yo quiero what are pc office users para crear y ellos ahead solo tengan a tonto terminal.

VOY evil? I am wrong, please, a worm TR veo mas luz.

    Gracias.

    VCP 310

UNA powerful para el run a virtual pc? Oh my. !!! Suena como virtual PC, pero al dreams

the virtual pc (virtual machine, ese are known real number), is itself in los servidoresque tengan wont vSphere, to join ellas por medio a connection broker (Xendesktop es ellos uno, VMware View, vWorkspace, Leostream, etc.), y cada uno ellos used a mechanism para redireccionar meetings remotas, utilizando para ello protocolos access remote (ICA, RDP Microsoft etc.) , there is you can set una conexion desde una PC con standard Windows, Linux, Mac, etc. UN ligero (Windows, Linux, owner) client, even desde mobile phones!  ; Since even a simple navegador!

Hear that el pc Al virtual requiere una PC powerful, me remember than muchos piensan en virtualizacion como algo 'lento', y viene experiences al using virtual PC (microsoft), o productos of VMware hosteados (workstation between ellos) pero con pocos recursos sober todo RAM.

para ir al punto, South you can use VI3 o vSphere + broker for client connections Lebrun (the marca are lo menos, pero hay some are optimizados para VDI)

Como punto final, already mucho el conocimiento del distribuidor, even TR Echado're not partners of Citrix y Québec no recomiende XenDesktop?

  • VWorkspace Reporting and licensing

    Hello

I'm trying to find out how many people have connected to VDI over a certain period. It comes to the current report. Manager, it will use to determine how many licenses we need and what is the use (Sessions, licenses). For the moment, I know people are connected, but I don't know how to put together the date.

Another question is if I go to the Management Console > license file I see 0 In Use licenses even though people are connected. Is this supposed to show the use of the current license?

    Hello Dejan,

I suggest to study further why it shows 0 licenses and has nothing to do with M & D. M & d works correctly, you farm should behave properly first. You receive error popups when you access licenses screen? 0 sessions/licenses may indicate a malfunction of the broker for connections. For starters, you can check if the quest Connection Broker, database management and the registry services are running. Broker listed in the GPMC vWorkspace, rentals, location 1, list of connection brokers?
