W700 slow RAM

I installed my HD to a SSD, and I had to re-run the performance Index for my machine:

CPU: 7.2

RAM: 5.9

Graphics: 6.8

Games: 6.8

HD: 7.6

My overall rating is 5.9 due to the RAM. I bought this W700 in October with 2 x 2 GB (total is 4 GB) of Lenovo. Is it normal that my RAM is so slow? If I spend what I should watch to make sure that I get the fastest available RAM to 8 GB (2 x 4 GB)?

Thank you

I have 8 GB of RAM in my W700 and the Windows RAM partition is 7.2 (when there were 4GB as in your case the score was 5.9). Any module DDR3 will do, I think.

All versions of Windows 32-bit client (not just Vista/XP/7) have a 4GB
address space (64-bit versions can use much more). It's the
theoretical upper limit beyond which you cannot go.

But you can not use all of the 4 GB of address space. Even if you
have a 4 GB address space, you can use * autour * 3. 1 GB of RAM.
This is because some of the space is used by the hardware and is not
available for the operating system and applications. The amount you can
use varies, depending on what hardware you have installed, but can
range from as little as 2 GB to 3.5 GB. It's usually around
    3. 1 GB.

Note that the hardware is using the address * space *, not the real
The RAM itself. If you have a larger amount of RAM, the rest of the RAM
goes unused because there is no address to map space to.

You should get 64-bit Windows? It is difficult to answer, because there are
a lot of factors (see below). But you need exceeds the 3.5 GB of
RAM, you are able to use? It depends on what applications run you, but for the most
    people, the answer is no.

Here is my standard message on 64-bit Windows:

The advantage of running a 64 bit version of Windows for the most part are
only if you are also running applications 64-bit under him. Don't forget that
There is very little such available requests. If you are
currently running 32-bit Windows, you don't have any 64-bit
applications, so to get a significant advantage, you not only
have to replace Windows, but also of your applications, * if * (and it's
a big "If") are 64-bit versions.

Also note that you will need the 64-bit for all drivers your hardware.
These drivers may not be available, especially if some of your
the material is a few years old. So it is possible that you might also
to replace things like your printer, scanner, etc.

So the answer to your question, it's that it would not be a good idea
Right away. This will no doubt change in the near future, as 64-bit
applications are becoming more available, but for now, Windows 64 - bit often
You hear some additional trouble and benefits costs little or not.

On the other hand, install Windows 64-bit instead of 32-bit Windows
allows you to purchase 64-bit software available, instead
older versions of 32-bit. This means that the 64-bit installation
Windows - even though it may not do much for you at the present time - puts
you in a better position for the future.

One extra point: the 64-bit version allows you to use more than the
about 3.1 GB of RAM can be used by the 32-bit version. Very little
people must or may make effective use more than 3. 1 GB, but if you
are one of those that can, it's something else to consider.

  • Satellite L50 - C slower RAM after update 1.40 BIOS (from 1600 to 1333)

Help I've just updated the bios of my laptop of version 1.20 to 1.40 from 'Toshiba Service Station'

now my RAM runs at 1333 Mhz instead of 1600 Mhz

I also checked the BIOS and there is no option to change the speed of the RAM. I have attached the screenshot below.
    Any fix for that?

    My laptop is L50-C1957

Now I think reflashing BIOS version 1.20.
Since he is originally with v1.10 then I updated to v1.20, which works well, then another update came v1.40, who have now my RAM running at low speed. (All downloaded via Toshiba Service Station and installed/updated day to day by Insyde.exe[which came also with the file downloaded from Toshiba Service Station])

is it possible to Flash the BIOS through Insyde.exe lower version? say 1.40 to 1.20

and is anyone know the path where the "Toshiba Service Station" save downloaded updates? I don't find, been looking for hours now...

  • Post your use of slower RAM (series 3 of Yoga)

    Hello world

How much MB/GB of ram using you guys after a reboot? I'm trying to see if I have a hardware problem while I am still under warranty. In my other post, I'm at 4 GB of RAM used after a refresh of the Windows installation.

    Thank you!

Great use of the RAM is very very unlikely to be a hardware problem.

Go to resource monitor, the memory tab and see what process is using the memory.

Don't have my Y3P with me, but it is idling at the memory usage about 3.2 GB (2 GB, which is actually a VIRTUAL drive for temporary files).

  • reading and slow RAM Preview player?

    Hi all:

I found that AE times or previews ram slowly the other player.i play the same video using AE and another player, found file(00:01:00) that AE spend about s 00:01:10 .the another player going around 00:01:00 s .shows that AE spend more than 10 s the other.and I have try to change the framerate and resolution but nothing changed.anyone knows why?

Don't know if this is a question/problem software development kit and if I understand your question correctly, but in any case related: is the entire sequence cached in RAM or disk (i.e. are there green or blue blocks throughout your sequence in the timeline panel)? Also, depending on your CPU and memory, such as wella as the size of your project/comp and the amount of effects that you applied, reading can be certainly not real-time in AE! Try the rendering/export your project with custom settings, the length of the rendered video must correspond so exactly what you specified in the export.

  • Satellite A105-S4074 - Question on mixing RAM

My phone comes factory with 1 x 512 MB stick with and additional empty slot.

    Here's my Question.
I bought a stick of 1 GB for the empty slot, so if I always use the computer back to the slower RAM module (512 MB).
I read on several post its OK to mix, but the computer will always return to the slower size, less for the performance.

If this is the case it would be better to completely remove the 512 MB stick all together and replace with the 1 GB?
    Let me know your opinion.

    Hi mate

Usually, you can mix the RAM modules.
But all the modules will always run at the same speed that is supported by the slower module.

For example, the 512 MB module supports 533 Mhz.
Support for 1 GB 667 Mhz RAM
In this case the 1 GB of RAM will run at 533 Mhz, because the 512 MB supports only this speed.

  • Satellite Pro L20 - RAM runs with low speed

    Dear reader,

I've recently updated my Toshiba Satellite Pro L20 to 2 GB, DDR2 667 mhz (Corsair ValueSelect) RAM because the old 512 MB of ram would not cut it anymore with all these processes.
Now, when I check my speed of ram with CPU - Z it says 200 mhz, whereas it should be at 333 mhz. I checked the chipset (Radeon Xpress 200 m) to ensure compatibility and it is compatible with ram to 667 mhz.

    Additional features:
    Toshiba Satellite Pro L20 - PSL2YE-005009DU
    Windows XP Pro SP3
    Intel Celeron M360 1.4 ghz
    2 GB DDR2 667 Mhz
    Radeon Xpress 200 m chipset

Now to clarify my question. I would run my ram at 333 mhz for many reasons, because if it is not I had been better to buy cheaper, slower RAM.
How can I use it, I can't access the bios to fix this, how can I access/derivation of the locked bios?

If you need more info just tell me.

    Kind regards
    Patrick Bos.

    Hello

Perhaps CPU - Z isn't read correctly... Who knows?

Also maybe the RAM modules are perhaps not compatible to run at 667 MHz speed. I n t have experience with Corsair Value Select modules

Last but not least, you can do nothing. There is no option of BIOS or something, where you can change it. In addition this speed of RAM will not bring a solid performance gain.

By the way: did you check the speed of your old modules?

  • Predator G9 - 591 - 70XR RAM and M.2 SSD upgrade (how)

    Hi all

This is what it looks like so low cover of my Acer Predator G9-591-70XR (Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) GB DDR4 1 TB drive HARD 256 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 16 980 M 4 GB 15.6 "Full HD 1920 x 1080 HD Webcam Windows 10 64-Bit edition). I want to improve my RAM and SSD drive. I discussed a couple of days to buy the right RAM for my machine with the acer predator support officer, but the officer was not able to give satisfactory answers to the RAM I want to buy. It's the RAM I would buy (http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-2133c15d-16grs). Agent told me that I need a RAM with the value of voltage of 1.5. However, this machine has DDR4 Rams and as far as I know that ddr4s have value of voltage of 1.2. So my first question is if I buy a RAM with latency CASE 15-15-15-36, 1, 2V, 2133 mHz in dual configuration channel, if it works with my computer?

My second question is about the SSD m2. As you can see from the picture, there is already an installed (above), SSD intrinsically I see an another slot above, I think it's a mini PCI-express. However this location is not consistent with the other SSD location. It's a little to the right. If I buy a card SSD M.2 similar or shorter, where screws it? There seems to be an empty hole on the left side, but the SSD will not reach there. So is there an adapter for it? If yes where can I find one?

Thank you for your time to read this. I hope that someone has the answers. Wish you all the best.

    Hello

I'm not all specialist RAM. I'm just, went to the store and asked the guy for a quick DDR4 Ram. But as you can see also delivered Ram 1, 2V. Maybe this value they're talking about is different. ?

Works fine since I bought the fastest Kingston. I wonder why the unit is shipped with the slower Ram, if more?

  • Ram 8 GB upgrade

    Hello world

I have Lenovo T61 and I want to increase the RAM up to 8 GB.

Is this possible? And the machine supports the DD3 RAM?

Also, the 2 GB already installed on the device placed in a slot or spread over the two RAM slots?

It does not support DDR3, only DDR2, 667 mhz or faster work. If you are installing faster ram the system will slow down he up to this speed, if you install slower ram the system will try to run at 667 mhz and may become unstable. I've seen before, but it is not recommended.

In most cases your system would be delivered with 2 chips, a GB each, but it is possible to have a 2 GB module. Your most cost-effective combination is 2x2gb (4 GB) that you can buy for about $40 (usd). If you want 8 GB 2x4gb, you will need and has recently doubled in price from about $80 to more than $150. I suspect memory manufactures have noticed this and are retooling to make DDR2 ram for now, then it would probably be a good idea to wait if you're on a budget, but no one knows where the price will be next month.

  • After Effects that run slower under El Capitan

Yesterday, I upgraded my imac 27 "5 k to El Capitan OSX and I noticed like rendering times (30%) and a slower ram preview...

Everyone knows this? I've also updated to the latest version of AE through CC. I have not changed the settings inside the AE, but have noticed a certain slow down from the OSX Upgrade.

I found the solution smh... Adobe originally had the Mercury Playback accelerated GPU (OpenCL)-updated rendering engine after having upgraded to the new operating system and Adobe CC the default rendering engine update affects the MERCURY PLAYBACK ENGINE SOFTWARE ONLY. Just change the rendering engine to Mercury Playback accelerated GPU (OpenCL) and bingo your back in the game will thank me later. Peace.

  • CQ61-319WM and AC twin memory RAM speed

I bought the CQ61-319WM with / 3 GB or RAM.  The provided configuration is a badly matched set of a 1 GB SODIMM (A-Data) and a 2 GB SODIMM (Samsung).  According to CPU - Z 1.54, both pieces is 400 MHz (DDR2 - 800 MHz), latency CASE 6-6-6-18-24 and according to Memtest86 + 4.00, the result is speed of the RAM of 3481 MB/s using 64-bit transfers (single channel access).

Upgrading to a configuration usually total memory dual channel results in a good Speed up, I decided to replace the 1 GB SODIMM with another 2 GB.

I had a piece of 2 GB to another previous project, but it was a version special high speed with latency CASE of 5-5-5-18-23.  I decided that a pair of them so completely taken over would be the best that I could reach, so I bought a second piece (about 80 $ CAN) and put them in.  I've also upgraded the BIOS F.13 (and my Memtest86 + 4.10).

The result is better, but not as good as it could be.  Reports of CPU - Z full CASE 5-5-5-18 is used and I think it's saying that the dual channel is active (or he's saying that the RAM can support double channel - I am not sure).

Memtest 86 + (4.00 and 4.10 versions) indicate that the CASE has indeed changed to 5-5-5-18, but that access is still 64-bit (single channel) and the speed of RAM increased to 3614 MB/s.

3614 MB/s is faster than 3481 MB/s, it is not as fast as I expect 5-5-5-18-23 memory to be if it is currently running dual channel (128-bit access).

I believe that the BIOS has probably decided to stay "single channel" because the RAM is in a configuration that was unexpected (because the latency CASE is too fast).  However, this probably means that if I buy another piece of 'standard' 800 MHz DDR2 (CASE 6-6-6-18-24) and install it with the original Samsung RAM, it will probably run at full dual channel (128-bit).  Such a configuration should be faster than what I'm running now, despite the fact that the RAM by piece real speed is slower.

Anyone used this RAM (2 x (2 GB, 800 MHz, CL6)) the installation program?  Can anyone confirm that the result is a configuration complete dual channel?  I can buy the RAM, but if she does not run dual channel, so it's just a waste of money.

Note: It would certainly NOT let fall to the bottom as for two-channel to 667 MHz.  Such a decline would result in approximately 2600 MB/s even double channel speeds up access.

I heard generally good.  Curiosity prevailed, and I bought one more piece of RAM.  This piece has been another 2 GB DDR2 800 MHz SODIMM, but this time with the same latency than the original equipment numbers (CASE 6-6-6-18-24).  I installed it with the original Samsung CQ61-319WM and speed of memory that result was exactly the same as the pair (CASE 5-5-5-18-23) faster RAM.  The computer has finished 3-pass of Memtest86 + 4.10 as the fastest pair of RAM, confirming also the speed.

This tells me that the speed increase had nothing to do with issues of latency, and she had to come from the increase in speed of access memory (128-bit) 'Dual Channel '.

As to why Memtest86 + 4.10 is reported as "single channel", I feel that the answer may have to do with the RAM 'Side Port' CQ61 graphics system.  According to published specifications, this computer has 128 MB GDDR2 (and memory).  It does not say how this memory is configured.  If it is the only channel (128-bit), then it could be that Memtest86 + sees.

To confirm this, I took the pair of quick latency RAM and put it in another computer that uses an older AMD 690 chipsets, and the same pair of RAM ran in dual channel mode on the other computer, but at a lower speed of 667 MHz.  Therefore, it seems that AMD memory controllers have probably no problem with this pair of RAM running in dual channel in general.

While nothing that I've done is quite conclusive, indicates that this computer was probably working with access memory dual channel for two configurations of 4 GB RAM I used.

In any case, I'll leave the slower RAM in the computer because whenever I change my configuration of memory, I have to lose more than 3 hours running Memtest86 + to check it's OK.  If I did not need to get an acceleration, I will use the faster RAM later in something else.

There might be a reason to use the best of the RAM (which is probably more recent technology and probably using a little less power), but I don't want to spend more time on this issue.

  • PC2-5300 memory will work in my Early 2008 Mac Pro?

I picked up an Early 2008 Mac Pro to replace my machine from 2006 and I was wondering if I could use my 16 GB of memory in the new machine?

Near as I can tell, the only difference from PC2-6400 is speed.

    Thank you

According to MacTracker database all the Early 2008 Mac Pro using PC2-6400, and you cannot use slower RAM the RAM in the computer is designed to use. Sometimes faster RAM spec can clock on an old computer but the RAM slower than the technique almost never works.
