WAG160N - no internet on the wireless

Hello, I just bought and installed a WAG160N today. I'm hard wired with my main computer and seem to have no problem at all. My lap top vista connects to the bridge, however, has no access to the internet. I changed a few settings, but without result. Any ideas?

Wireless settings:

Basics: Wireless config: manual; mode mixed; name: is unique; band: wide 40 mhz; wide: 9; std: 11-2, 462; SSID: enabled.

Security: WPA2 mixed

The rest is the default value.

Security settings:

Firewall is enabled

Block anonymous Internet requests: checked.

Now, there are two available firmware updates but I don't know who I should use

Download 3,30 MB

Ver.1.00.15 ETSI (Appendix B)

Your ideas are welcome. Thank you.

Assuming that your gateway is attributed to your Vista laptop a DHCP IP address, it could be a DNS problem.  Check the settings of the gateway and DNS client. The laptop must be automatically assigned.

To update the firmware, the majority of countries is Appendix A, for example the United Kingdom and the Australia.  Annex B would be the Germany.  In addition, the entry door you cannot use an incorrect version of the annex.

  • How to connect to the internet via the wireless?

I just bought my first laptop Toshiba L10, and I'm unable to start, how do I connect to the internet using the wireless feature and no track? More frustrating is how can I connect to the internet in the first place, wireless.
    Help, please.

    Hi Phil,

To answer your questions in full, it would be quite a task but here is my simple guide: -.

    1. connect to the internet

1.1 choose an ISP (provider of Internet Sertvice) and get a CD with the software and the connection information.

1.2 load the CD and follow the onscreen instructions to set up your login information.

1.3 If you use dial-up connect your cable modem to your laptop and the other end to your telephone line.

1.4 If you are using broadband services to connect your CODEC to your USB port and the other cable to your microfilter attached to your telephone line.

1.5 DO NOT START YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION UNLESS YOU HAVE ANTIVIRUS RUNNING ON YOUR LAPTOP.

1.6 Click START-> CONNECT TO-> the connection created in 1.2 above

For the wireless connection, the procedure is similar braodly but you need a router or wireless modem connected to your telephone line and properly configured in Notepad you.

Follow step 1.5 with a lot of attention. If you connect to the internet without anit-virus software and firewall appropriate, it will be only a few seconds before your laptop computer will be infected with a form of virus. Please be careful.

  • Problems connecting to the internet using the wireless network connection

I can't connect to the internet using my wireless network connection. I had made the diagnosis and he stated that "the DHCP is not enabled for the wireless network connection. I had checked the DHCP, but it has been activated!... Someone would give any suggestion for me to solve the problem?

Open the run command box by pressing Windows key + R, type services.msc and press enter . Search The Client DHCP and check if it is enabled or disabled. If disabled then turn it on and see if the problem still persists or not.

Open the run command box by pressing Windows key + R, type cmd , and press enter . At the command prompt, type ipconfig/all and press ENTER. Now, check the IP address, default gateway, DNS etc. If you find all the information is correct, but you cannot yet access the Internet so if you connect the wireless network is secure or not. To determine the glance to the wireless network icon in the taskbar, then click on it. It will show you the available wireless networks. If there is a "yellow shield" present on the network icon, the network is not guaranteed, if there is no "yellow shield" does while the network is secure. In a secure network, you might have a "network security key. In this case try to disable the 'Network security key' option for this network. To do this:

Open Control Panel , click network and Internet , click network and sharing Center , click manage wireless networks on the left.

In the list select the wireless network and do a right click, select Properties, Security disable tab all options that is, in security type do not select no authentication (Open) and to the type of encryption , select none . You can also activate the automatic connection and SSID settings to further enhance connectivity, on the connection tab, click to select the "connect automatically if this network is in range " and "check boxesto connect even if the network is broadcasting his name (SSID) .

For more information click here and see how you can determine whether a network is secure or not.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/how-do-I-know-if-a-wireless-network-is-secure

If the problem still persists, then check your firewall settings and make sure that the firewall is not blocking your Internet connection. Some software Antivirus has a built-in firewall and they block by default all unknown connection to the tightening of security.

Try to restore Windows Firewall default settings. Open Control Panel click on network and Internet , click system and security , click Windows Firewall , click default settings .

Hope this will help. Thank you.

  • Unable to connect to the internet via the wireless HP Pavilion DV2120us

Recently, I did a new install of XP and updated all my drivers. • Problem to stay connected to the internet through the wireless router.

I'm having a strange problem.  My computer will stay connected wireless for anywhere between 2-30 minutes before losing connectivity.  However, it works when I plug it into the router, which is what I'm doing now.  I have tried everything I can think of to eliminate the problem, but it has not changed.  Usually, once it shuts down it will stay off until I have change the frequency of router or something.  Reset the router works every time some time, but nothing is definitely the problem.

I disabled ipv6, reset the router, update windows, restarted several times that I have unplugged router and modem, reconfigured frequency channel of the router, among other things.

It must be a problem with my computer because my roommate both have computers that are working properly.  In addition, it is a relatively new problem.  I've had my computer for a few months now and it has worked well up until that 2 days ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • NO INTERNET via the wireless or wired

My Dell Inspiration 5520 with Windows 7 (almost 2 years old) just started gave me wrong with internet connection. It wouldn't connect wirelessly as it usually does. I thought that the problem could be with my router but our other deviceswere works very well (smartphones and our smart TV was streaming netflix very well). I tried to connect with an Ethernet cable with the same results. The computer says it is connected to the internet both ways, but when I try to use the internet, it will not work. I tried the following things with nothing doesn't...

Rebooted the router and computer, restarted wireless card, verify that the drivers are up-to-date
tried different browsers (chrome and ie)
I know sometimes windows updates may interfere. Then I checked and there is not these recent updates installed. I thought that I would always try to system restore but the computer could not complete successfully.

The update only the latter was my antivirus AVG Free. So I tried disabling it and windows firewall but still no connection.

I have no idea why my computer is doing this. If someone saw it, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Test Internet access on the second laptop:

    1. Click Start > all programs > Accessories > guest
