Western Digital drive hard 60 GB tested OK through diagnostics but seems audio problems

All audio sounds are rough with intermittent breaks through speakers or headphones. After that replace old soundcard with a new and new correct drivers the condition is the same. Check the wiring from the motherboard to the hard drive and I noticed that by moving WDC600BB HDD from different angles and positions of frying noise disappears. Ran extensive test it on the HARD drive it passed with flying colors. A way to repair the HARD drive... all my programs are on it.

Did you use WD bootable SeaTools utility test or another?

  • Western Digital drive hard problem

I have a western digital HDD (WD1200U017-000 model number) that is not recognized by Windows Vista. It was recognized and work earlier, but is no longer working. I tried to re-boot and unplug several times. I know that the camera itself is functional because it works on other machines running windows XP. I just bought this new computer with Windows Vsta last week, I checked for updates and installed all of them.   The hard drive does not load all or appear in Device Manager. The site digital Western said that Vista should provide a driver automatically.

I had the same problem with the same 2.5 "laptop (DND: wd1200u017-000) device. I'm using win7 x 64 op system. I've tried all what WD site suggested, but nothing has worked. I tried win automatic troubleshooting, too, but it has not worked.  Computer restart, disconnected-plugging device, driver update internet or win dirivers haven't worked.

After that, I found a solution, which worked in my case.

I went to the Device Manager and looked for hard drive devices. I found one called unknown device or anything else. I chose option to remove, unplugged the unit, then plugged in again, and it started working. If you do not in the Device Manager list, perhaps it does not work on your computer. (I use no adapter cable. single USB cable).

  • Western Digital drive hard problem; Forced to Format

I have been using an external hard drive Western Digital Home Edition 500 GB with Windows Vista for more than 8 months without any problem.  Recently, I used the hard drive on a computer running Windows XP (also without any problem).  Now, the hard drive does not open on Windows Vista.  It is recognized in my computer, but when I try to open the location she reads, 'the drive must be formatted before use".  The drive still works under Windows XP.  I would rather not format it, because I didn't save my data :(

    102,

First of all, make sure that it is not the hardware on your computer:

1.) try all USB ports on the machine in question with the external hard drive

2.) try other USB devices on the machine as well. You get the same result?

Sometimes this is also caused by software conflicts. Anything to be downloaded or installed recently?

It can also be caused by the power surges that occur in your home. Thunderstorms through here lately? Do you use a surge protector?
If everything else seems to work very well, another cause can also be a virus. Update your virus definitions, then run a full system scan. Thank you, Jeremy M - Support Engineer

  • Western Digital external hard drive to backup impossible after installing the MS Fix It program

I installed MS difficulty it program and since then, I had backup problems with my external hard drive WD (Western DigitaL).  I've used this for many months to back up my entire computer, using my Norton program, and now I get the message that there is a problem "with the back up.  He asks me to check if the device is connected, (it is of course!).  I also noticed that my external hard drive has been changed to 'F' to 'G' after I installeld Fix It.  That's fine, but WHY?  Is it considered a CORRECTION device?

WHAT'S PAST AND HOW I CAN GET THIS BACK TO NORMAL, SO I CAN EASILY BACK UP AGAIN? It's very frustrating.

  • Western Digital external hard drive not recognized in Vista

This computer is Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit) with Service Pack 2.

I have connected an external Western Digital (My Book).  Sometimes the HD appears in devices such as WD My Book IEEE 1394 SBP @. Device Manager, and sometimes it isn't. ????

No matter, it NEVER so appears as a disc when I look in Windows Explorer. ???

    Help, please!

    Thank you.

You can get in trouble with your device drivers.  Go to Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get drivers (and you shouldbring at least for an external hard drive and all you have time to do - they can help way beyond simply solve this problem), let the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

I see the HARD drive in the control panel > all devices in Control Panel > devices and printers > devices, but I can not see HDD when I open my computer.

    Hi Mojster,

    Try the following.

Step 1: Check if the drive is detected in the disk management utility.

    a. click Start, type diskmgmt.msc in the search box and press enter.

    b. check if the drive is detected and it has a drive letter.

  • Western Digital external hard will not be displayed in the Finder or disk utility

So I am certainly not the most tech-savvy person ever, but I'm not completely helpless on a computer, and I'm trying to help a friend with pulling content on an old external hard drive Western Digital (product No: WDBABW0010BSL-00;) ( http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Passport-Portable-External/dp/B003DC8D8I).

Initially, I looked in the Finder for the hard disk appears, but nothing has ever, even after 15 minutes to be connected. After that, I went my utility application of disc to see if something has shown there, but again, no luck. I made sure that the micro-usb cable works, who he was and the hard drive itself did a light which is turn on, plus you can feel physically the disc rotates inside the hull to the touch on the case itself, so I know there is be able to get on the external hard drive.

From this point, however, I am at a loss for what to do next. I read some of the other help topics, but I have not found anything like that, but that works for me.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help!

Have you tried this WD drive in another Mac with the same results?

    How old is the drive?

I know that I had a problem once with a WD drive that had this type of behavior, and I could not use any utility software disc 3rd party on it to retrieve files or disk to repartition/format utility there. The drive is running but not visible anywhere on any Mac. My situation is that the drive had nothing of value to this topic, I used a top hammer so that nobody else could get something on it when I threw it in the trash.

  • Windows 64-bit Vista and Western Digital drives

I have two external drives from WD. One being the WD2500 and the other being the WD2500B007.
I just bought this new HP with Windows Vista 64-bit machine. Readers will show up, but when they do, they don't show any of the data that I have on them. Everything they say is that they are the two 6 GB. That is the amount of space, they show that I've left on both drives. It's really weird. I perform virus checks, and no viruses are found. Is there a newer driver for these readers? BTW, I have an old WD firewire external drive, and it works fine.
Please let me know if there's something escapes me! I use two drives for the same backup. I have a portable drive 500 GB that I have with all my data on it, so if I have to reformat the two 250 GB, I. But I didn't reformat the disks if they recognize only 6 GB each.
Western Digital technical support told me that they won't support the readers for Vista 64-bit.  Can someone enlighten us and help out?

    Thank you!
    Todd.

You can also try to update your readers to your manufacturers Web site drive controller... but who are internal discs... most of them is provided with the chipset drivers...

You can try to run the WD on their website... to scan your drive for errors without losing data. also try plugging your drives with USB support. Most Microsoft Valuable Professional

How repairing when HP Pavilion dv7-4065dx will not run the operating system, disk hard main self-test result 303.

    Hello

303 error seems to indicate that the drive is defective and must be replaced - it is also compatible with the problem you describe.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disc replaced.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

hsving obvous problem assostated with little or no space drive. slow operion of progtams "program does not" and 'unable to write' trusted sites.

Sometimes when the hard disk becomes incredibly full, you can even copy files to an external hard drive. In such cases, simply pull the disk and put in a USB external hard drive case. Attach it to a working computer and copy the data in this way, either on a drive in the system of work or another external hard drive (it will be slower). Delete the data out of the full disc. Hello

    1. are you able to see data from your external hard drive from your old computer?

    2. are you able to detect the external hard drive with another computer?

    3. you receive an error code or message?

I suggest you to check if you can see the external hard drive in Windows Explorer.

Try to connect the external hard drive to another port and check the issue.

Check also if the external hard drive works fine in the other computer.
