What is the removable storage management?

I just checked the "turn windows features on or off" and I noticed that the "removable storage management" is turned OFF. I used a hard drive portable USB and flash drives since I have this computer without problem.

What does the "removable storage management"? I can't find something more descriptive than the presentation text short I get when you hold the mouse pointer.
This is the most I can find:
http://www.blackviper.com/wiki/Removable_Storage

If my portable USB drive, my USB key and my DVD +/-RW do not count as removable storage requiring this feature, what?  I use all these devices at least once a week without a problem.

Besides, someone you will suggest a guide to access descriptions of best of all find under "turn Windows features On or Off? Some are self-explanatory such as TFTP, Telnet and games, but others I'm not sure as RIP. Why would I need RIP on the home (client) version of Windows and why only RIP version 1 that does not support CIDR.

You use the wrong search engine. I found enough things for the reading of the week of research management removable storage on Bing.

  • What is normal for the backup of XP SP3 and the startup type of the removable storage service?

I was getting ready to plan and attempt a clean full backup for tonight.  I have the backups created on several entities, currently backup but have a very stable system at the moment and wanted to try to make a clean backup file.  That day has finally arrived after been forced a corrupted system files hard drive failure "repair" critical and forced me to go back to SP1a (my Windows Genuine valid CD which I highly appreciate) in order to obtain any boot system, including safe mode and console mode.  Repair has presented many incompatibilities at the level of program and system, including the basic WMI and COM of the corruption system.  Three months later... it of time to update my backups and recovery procedures and hope that this does not happen!

In preparation, I decided to refresh my memory on the use of the backup and by browsing the Help and Support Service Center files.  One of the first things I noticed was "storage removable service must be started for the backup works correctly."  Audit and inspection of my existing Services using computer (Local) management, I have observed that after a normal windows startup, the removable storage service is not started with manual startup type.  I use a USB drive connected as my backup media, and it is fully operational as a normally formatted NTFS data disk volume.  I have windows indexing disabled on this volume.  Is the type of service required removable storage of normal manual started?  The backup program will automatically start this service?  I know I've never manually started it myself and backups seem to work well.  Should we change the startup type to automatic?

    -Thanks, Jerry

I would like to leave as a textbook.

The Service will start (if capable) as soon as ntbackup.exe begins.

If you want to see, with your Services window related to the function of RS place and it will not work and the manual.

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Ntbackup.exe

Click OK to start the backup and the Restore Wizard.

Go back to your Services window and press F5 to refresh and SR Service should now work.

When you exit the backup and the Restore Wizard, the RS Service stops (it may take a few minutes), and you may need to close the Services applet and reopen it to notice she's moved to manual and not running.

You will see things like present to the event system log viewer:

It's like aid and assistance...  Most of the people (including the technical support engineers who are hired by Microsoft) say to set the Startup Type to automatic, but you don't have to...  Set it to manual and it will start fine when he needs start (if he can).

There is no need for these Services (and many other Services in XP) as starting at each restart and run all day without doing anything.

  • Windows Vista does not recognize the removable storage device

    ISSUE INITIAL 2010-03-03)
    Here's the scenario:
    1. Insert the card compact flash.
2 computer recognizes the removable storage (that is, it is assigned a drive letter and appears in disk management).
    3. use the icon remove the device safely in the taskbar to stop the machine to remove safely.
    4. remove the card compact flash.
    5. Insert the compact flash card.
    6. the computer does not recognize removable storage (that is, it is not assigned a drive letter and does not appear in disk management).

The only way I can get windows to recognize the drive is to restart my computer. How can I get windows recognize the drive without having to reboot?   This problem does not occur with USB flash drives.

    UPDATE (04/03/2010):
I have more information, I hope this helps to reach a solution.

-J' repeated the steps above 1 to 3, with open Device Manager.  In step 3, in the Device Manager window, the icon for the question USB mass storage device becomes the exclamation point in yellow triangle icon.  Check its properties on the tab "General", in the "Device status" box, it says: "Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been established for"safe removal", but it has not been removed from the computer. (Code 47)  IX this problem, disconnect the device from your computer and then reconnect it.  Click on 'Search for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available. »
-J' then removed the card and rest of the error state.
-J' I re inserted the card, and rest of the error state.
-J' I then tried to update the driver by accessing the tab "driver", click on "Update driver", click on "Automatically search for an updated driver", and the result was "the best driver for your device is already installed."

I found the solution on this hp web page:

  • What is the file storage folder and we can remove it?

Original title: what is the repository of files, it displays red suit, what should I do to remove this particular?

    Hello

In the windows directory, it shows the repository for files and the file is 100%,

can I delete this folder or what to do.

    Looking for your help.

    Thank you

    Prema

After jumping through hoops permissions... I was finally able to remove one of the folders in the repository of files... and THEN I managed to install the copier/printer that I had been impossible to install for a week.  The last measure was going to be re-imaging machine, but since it's in a remote office, I wanted to exhaust every other possible fixes to this problem.  I continued to get the 0x000005b3 error messages, but once I deleted the most recent folder in the repository and replaced it with the same file from a computer with an installation of the printer successfully, I managed to install this Copier.  I'm ready to celebrate, now!

  • historical files won't accept the removable storage like SD card

    Hello

not until I got my Tablet Surface Pro, I discovered that I am not able to ADD a SD memory card to the library, then having these backup files upwards through the history of the files.

Historical files only accepts items (drives/folders) that are included in the library, correct?

SD cards and other (disks) removable storage cannot be included in a library, correct?

It could have been no problem in the past, but with computers as a shelf where you add storage capacity by inserting an SD card, it would be wise to look at it as a real player and allow removable storage appear in the library, right? I mean the USB portable drives are not really different and they can be added to a library.

Does anyone know a 'trick' to be a part of removable storage library?

    Thank you

    Frank

I managed to get the history file to my SD card backup in any first format in NTFS then authenticated users permissions.

Click right on NTFS formatted the SD card and select Properties then the tab Security , under group or user name , click the button Edit then Add , and enter the user authenticated followed check names, OK etc.

Then create a folder, such as SD-Documents and then right-click on that folder and select include in library > Documents or library what ever you want added to folder.

    Thank you for your response.

I'm working on it, I think I found my problem.  These computers are part of an area in which I do not.  They will be removed from the field in a few weeks as they are separate from this company.  The area has some group policy settings that limit to me logged on as a local administrator.  I think I'll have to wait until computers were removed from the field to solve this problem.

GPU: 3 GB PNY NVIDIA Quadro graphics card K4000

Memory: DDR3 Corsair Dominator Quad Channel 2133 * 32 Gb

OK, maybe it's a bit excessive, but it gives me flexibility, and a few years grace before some other technology hits the fan!

    Where I struggle is storage.

Could you please share some examples of life real wrt storage scenarios. Photoshop is quite easy but PremPro is a demanding beast, and I'm not sure whether to implement what I should use. On-board physical space is not a problem [Obsidain 900 d case] but storage can be very expensive, and I'd rather have this right first time. Just to be clear, I'm afraid with storage in a work situation and backup, not external archiving.
