Which versions of Adobe Creative Suite my MacBook 1.1 support?

I bought the Production Premium for a new office, but need to install at least Photoshop and Illustrator on my laptop.  It's a MacBook 1.1.  After spending a day installing (including one hour with a technician apparently no idea on the phone), I did what he said and downloaded a trial version (Creative Suite, because I didn't want any other programs and have little place in my memory).  Have downloaded successfully, but then when I tried to open it, I got the message that my MacBook did not support this version.  I can't work without these two programs.  I already uninstalled CS2, which did not support documents created to work (on CS5.5).  Is it possible to update my system or downgrade my backup (5.5, if it works), or do I actually have to buy a new laptop?

or do I actually have to buy a new laptop?

Yes. The first generation of MacBook do not support the required stuff to the most recent versions of Adobe products. A final which might work on your system would be CS4, but 2 obsolete versions and it would not yet for example open InDesign CS5.5 files. And no, there is no way to "downgrade". Adobe (and its resellers registered) only to sell the latest version.
