When I run Microsoft Fix it, it says I have no firewall; so I see Security Essentials and everything is GREEN. Why is this?
* original title - I have Microsoft Security Essentials? *
Good news is THAT MSE is showing protection is enabled and given that you do not receive notification of Security Center advising the firewall is not enabled it can be assumed that it is enabled. Bad news is that I don't have an answer. You have any other real time protection(Avast, AVG, etc.) currently installed? What, if any, previous protection in real time of programs have been installed and they did include a firewall? You made using tools and methods to remove properly uninstall completely?
Since it is a problem Microsoft Fix it I suggest you consider posting your question in the fix it Center Forum.

No Option to install repair - SAD
HelloWhy Microsoft removed the ability for Windows Vista to install on herself from one location other than being inside the BONE you want to repair.
I recently had a problem where Vista Business 64-bit would only boot to a black screen with a mobile cursor - KSOD. Who, in searching the Web I found is a fairly common problem with Vista. I discovered that my only option was about to reinstall Vista CLEAN and all the other programs I had installed under it. I can't believe that Microsoft released the 'repair installation option"similar to that of Windows XP, where you can hit the"R"key during installation and we left with nothing but the"System Restore"options and"Startup Repair ". Neither of which has helped in my situation. Since then, this was a dual system boot with XP Pro, then any restore point has been removed from the partition to Vista anytime, I started another recognized problem, by Microsoft, which Microsoft has made no significant effort to fix, in addition to recommending that you hide the partion Vista in XP - a whole of XP. That beats a little the entire purpose of dual boot.
As I tried to start in safe mode, it left me at the same point as a normal boot - black screen with a cursor. I tried ctrl + alt + delete and nothing. Two Windows RE options did not help me. This left me no option but to the completely reinstall Vista. Why Microsoft did remove the ability for Windows Vista to install on herself from one location other than being inside the BONE you want to repair.. Please don't tell me that it is because Vista uses an image file instead of an installation as XP system. I see no other reason for not allowing the upgrade of outside BONE in addition to Microsofts greed and paranoia that he can transform the operating system easier to install illegally. I hope that some third party has actually changed the Vista installation routine to allow you to install Vista on itself, because as it is, it's really hard for me to even recommend Vista as the operating system or install any where else, if not the only recourse after loading OS, is to reinstall completely.
Adobe, Autodesk, and almost all other software publishers... allow you to perform a "REPAIR" of their software installation, if something prevents you to load after installation. Even MS Office has a routine repair. Ms has an internal version of the Setup routine which allows outside the OS upgrade option that you want to "Upgrade" / repair? ". If not, why?
-Todd w.
"Why Microsoft removed the ability for Windows Vista to install on herself from one location other than being inside the BONE you want to repair."
«.. . After using XP's repair function, the operating system itself would become less stable and frankly not in a good state of repair. »
As Todd, is the answer."This response does not hold water as on one of my computers I've been running Windows XP for about four years now, after a repair install.
"I thought that this area was a place to really get answers instead of the ole same"answers of bs that are on all the other forums."
If you want to have input on the future of Microsoft operating systems, then help you beta-test and provide feedback to the developers. Windows 7 and IE 8 are currently in beta.

Why Microsoft did not recognize or set the iexplore.exe virus?
After cold boot my Toshiba Satellite laptop computer with Vista, pane the Task Manager process shows no instance of iexplore.exe. However, after using the computer for a while (using Outlook, Crome, Excel etc) my system slowly grinds almost to a halt several instances of iexplore.exe appear in the process pane, each consumer of 15 to 25% of the total of processor cycles. This becomes worse and worse until the system becomes unusable.
I belong to several thousand users of Windows who is plagued by the iexplore.exe virus. I used 5 different virus/malware removers (including MS Security Essentials and MSERT.exe), but they do not solve this problem. Why Microsoft did not recognize this virus dangerous and done something to remove it? (ODILE. EXE does not help). Only users that I found on the web that have to get rid of this nasty virus are those who reformatted their hard drives. Microsoft can surely do better than that.Has anyone found a solution that actually works? (A lot of the fixes suggested on the net "seem" to work for a few hours or a day or two, but then the virus appears again upward and consumes most or all of the cycles CPU).I'm surprised that Microsoft do not have a solution to the problem. If you have a solution that really works, please let me know. Thank you.And you think this is a virus why? I admit it could be a root kit, but I suspect that a program you use called IExplore to launch a URL, but fails to launch a browser window, that is why tasks of runaways.
However, if you believe that it is through a virus or root kit:How to get rid of malware:

Original title: cannot run FixIt.
With the help of Vista Home Premium, sp2, 32-bit on Toshiba Satalite A135
I tried for days to find a solution for the reason why I can't run software 'MR FIXIT' or "MICROSOFT FIXIT" auto diagnostic I downloaded several versions of the software and saved, but when I try to launch it I stopped. (kb2656353). I tried to install this download since January of 2012. The reason why I tried to use the auto diagnostic software should fix my problem of installation of the security update. If any other information/details are required please contact me by e-mail (* address email is removed from the privacy * or your Microsoft Answers.)
I have a lot of saved files w / diagrams, pictures etc, saved the internet... could it be my PC down? I am disabled and I use my PC so much for taking the time and stay in touch with the outside world. Help, please.
Thank you for your kind assistance in advance.
I thank very you much for your kind cooperation. I ran Malwarebytes(full scan), then MSE full scan. I used cleaner c, disc cleaning & fragmenteur. I always had problems. Performance has been a little better but still had problems major w / windows & Internet Explorer do not want to close the programs. I researced and downloaded Advanced System Care & performed a deep clean. He did wonders on my p.c. performance and other problems. It's the free version for which I am very grateful. Each day I pull up of Advanced System Care & he told me if I need quick care or the deep treatment. When you are finished, it provides found problems and fixed.
I'm so glad that my friend shared about this cleaning/performance tool.
Maybe this will help someone else.

Microsoft 'Fix - it' created a restore point of its own
I downloaded microsoft "Fix - it" and he has made a point of restoration of its own and does not allow me to go back further. I have a problem and need to restore to an earlier date. I uninstalled Fix - it, but the new always restore point allows me to go further. How can I remove Fixit restore point without format my whole computer
System Restore is not a panacea. Why do you want to use a previous system restore point?
Sometimes the system restore fails, usually when you most need. For this reason, some people don't rely on the system restore and make their own backups instead.
In order to back up the registry, C:\WINDOWS\ERUNT is both free and easy to use.
For more full backups, you must decide whether to back up only the data or the entire system. It is easy to back up the entire system using a disk cloning/imaging application. Here are a few:
If you have a Western Digital hard drive, you can get a version of Acronis True Image free of WD (http://support.wdc.com/product/downloaddetail.asp?swid=119) or you can get the software of cloning separately (this is not an exhaustive list and in no particular order, some are free, some not):
Acronis True Image Home
EASEUS ToDo Backup
Paragon Drive Copy or Partition Manager Personal
Casper
Norton GhostFinally, to help with your particular problem of restoring the system, start here--> http://bertk.mvps.org/html/srfail.html and http://bertk.mvps.org/html/error.html and http://bertk.mvps.org/html/tips.html
