  So my acer loptop AS5742 I used it for 5 years now and I don't think that his old man he needs of recycled.   Can you please clarify if the slate is to be completely turned off (to hold the power button to wake it up) or if the application closes (taking you to the home screen)?

  Try to clear the cache on the Tablet, there may be damage to the data stored in one of the applications or OS causing accidents. To do this, go to settings > storage > cached data. Touch it should give you the option to clear all the cache.
