Why XP MODE does not recognize my DVD player?
It shows my DVD player in the "D" drive, but this is false. "D" drive is a partition on my hard drive. In normal Windows 7 my DVD is 'G' drive but not in XP Mode.
To access the content of your DVD in Windows XP Mode, open the drive mapped in Windows XP Mode network. She represented by the same drive as D on KENS-PC name

Power mac g4 does not recognize the DVD/CD drive. It has worked very well in Leapard
I just newly installed Tiger on my PowerMac G4, and now it does not recognize the DVD/CD drive. I did all the updates and it does not see the DVD in the DVD drive. It works perfectly before a new clean install DVD of the Tiger.
What is your indication that the DVD is not recognized?
Run the utility disc with the disc in the optical drive. The drive will appear in the sidebar of disk utility?
I did all the updates and it does not see the DVD in the DVD drive.
If you put another type of disc in the optical drive, as a music CD, it is recognized?

Hello
This isn't a real problem.
These problems can occur using incompatible media or not fully supported.
I had this problem too. You wouldn't believe how many CD or DVD I used to know what media would be fine. Finally I went to TDK's and for a long time I m really satisfied.
By the way; User manual you should provide some useful details on the compatible media. Check also.

If it just happened all of a sudden, you can restore the registry files of the system in working order by following option n ° 1 on this page. If this does not work, you can be reasonably sure that the configuration of the system is not the problem and start looking into other possibilities as a broken drive or a bad connection inside the cable.

Windows does not recognize the DVD drive at startup
Laptop: Dell E6410 ATG wt / verzion A15 Bios
OS: Windows 7 SP1 with the latest updates.
The question I have is when I log on Windows 7, the laptop does not recognize the DVD drive. The reader will not be displayed in my computer or Device Manager. I can get around this physically ejecting the disc and reinsert. If I do this drive appears in my computer Windows and Device Manager. It will read DVDs and CDs fine. I am able to reproduce the problem above mentioned question if I restart the laptop. If I restart the laptop the DVD drive won't be recognized and reinsert the drive will get it appears again.
This problem occurs if I try a DVD - RW drive and an old DVD - ROM drive. If I go into the BIOS before windows, I can see the BIOS recognizing drives ok but not when initially get into Windows without having to eject and inserting the disc.
Thanks in advance for any help.
I guess that this must be a hardware problem then.
Seems odd.
The only other thing I can think of, after reinstalling W7, is a BIOS problem eventually. A strange setting it may be an older version of BIOS with a bug in it. If you decide to update the bios, make sure that you get the latest version for your make and model PC and follow the instructions. You can destroy a PC with bad BIOS or update the procedure.
