Window 7 has embedded in double copy/file finder software...

I believe that I have multiple/duplicate files and photos in my laptop with windows 7... According to me it should automatically report and encourage us to delete these files to free up space...

Please advise...

In windows 7, there is no option to find duplicate files.
to use third party software.
for example: http://download.cnet.com/Auslogics-Duplicate-File-Finder/3000-2248_4-10964299.html

Thank you!

  • In Windows XP get daily error "error copying file or folder."

Every day in the middle of the afternoon, when I'm not working on my computer, the following two boxes appear on my desktop:

#1 "copy...". "in white letters in the upper header of blue, left side of the screen.  The beige screen has a piece of paper from the left folder to the right folder.  Here are two lines: top line "Copying"DiskSpaceCheck.dll"" below this line: "to" c: documents and Settings\XX\Local "' at the bottom of the box contains a box empty white horizontal activity and a button"Cancel ".

#2, below the area of "copy":

Header «Error copying file or Fo...» "Below a line with a button inside a red circle X, followed by the message"the file exists. " An OK button is centered below that.

I have to press Cancel and OK several times to get rid of the box but then I have to restart the computer so that it works correctly.  This happens every day.

Do you have suggestions for termnating the daily messages?

  • In Windows 7 when you try to copy files to an external hard drive, getting the error "are you sure you want to copy this file without its properties?

I know there have been a few posts on this in the past, but I have a slightly different query.

To copy files from my drive NTFS of Windows 7 64 bit for my Western Digital My Book World Edition II 2 GB player manually, not with the WD software provided), for some files, the following message appears.
"Are you sure you want to copy this file without its properties?  The X file has properties that cannot be copied to the new location. »
After investigation, it appears that Western Digital My Book World Edition II is not NTFS format and is, in fact, driven Linux.
Their technical support has confirmed that, despite the message, it is safe to copy files and rely on this backup (I want to backup my drive HARD whole so I can do a clean install - so it's really important!).
Is anyone able to advise exactly what means the message in terms of properties lost?

If you right-click on one of the files in Windows Explorer, then select Properties, you will see the Details tab of the properties he wouldn't if the files have been copied to a drive not NTFS. They are written in an Alternate Data Stream (ADS), and the FAT format readers include ADS.

It depends on the file type of the importance of these properties. If you have spent a lot of time, adding titles and comments and authors and authors e-mail addresses to docprops your Word documents, for example, that the work would be lost.

If you can live with the loss of these properties, go ahead - standard properties will be re-writings in the file when you restore from backup. It's of course time and resources.

To avoid this problem, format your external drive to use the NTFS system.

  • Unable to install Windows Vista, the system freezes at copying files and the extension of the files

    Original title: Setup error

So I installed window vista Ultimate edition on my Mac, like two windows. I backed up all of my hard drives. so when I started to install everything went well until when it came in part from extension of files and copy files to the * something *. After like 20 minutes I had this error saying could not complete the installation because of corrupted files or something and then he is out. I tried homebasic, home premium etc. but I received an error even for each other. I went to the dealer where I bought the cd, returned and got another but still have the same thing

    Hello

    ·        What are your system specs?

    ·        How you try to install windows vista on the system? After the start of the desktop?

    ·        What is the exact error message that you experience when the system hangs during the installation?

I suggest you to disconnect all external devices that are connected to the system such as (printers, scanners, etc.) and see if the problem is resolved.

This occurs mainly, if the system (hardware or software) is not compatible with the operating system that you are trying to install on the system. I suggest you to format the partition in which you try to install Windows Vista, and then check if you are able to install the operating system or not.

If Windows 7 inform you that this file is harmful then you can safely assume that it is. It was probably altered during the compression process. Try to get an intact copy.

  • Impossible to copy files to the Sansa Fuze using Windows 7 (drag and drop, or Windows Media Player)

    Hello

Yesterday, I bought the Sansa Fuze and I have problems copying files to the device using either Windows Media Player (Sync) or Drag and Drop (Explorer).

    The symptoms are:

    (1) the device is recognized and available in Windows 7 (Series USB MSC - sorry don't have it with me right now)

    (2) took me to upgrade to the latest firmware, which has worked flawlessly

    (3) when I try to drag and drop a file on the device (I use Windows 7, 64-bit), it starts, but doesn't seem to calculate the size of the files or waiting time to download correctly.  It is followed by a slow progressive, until the computer crashes, resulting in a constant 100% of the CPU.  The only solution is a hard reboot

    (4) when you use Windows WM, the device is recognized, okay and the synchronization starts, but it then stops without reason.  Once again, the processor springs and requires a reboot

    (5) using the results 3 and 4 in 1-5 files being copied across, but not more.

    (6) I tried several albums and one album at a time, but cannot determine if that makes a difference.

    Help, please!

    See you soon,.

    Richard

It may be a bug in Windows 7. But one thing to try is to go to the Device Manager (assuming that Windows 7 still has), uninstall the "rocket" (under USB controllers), and then run add hardware to find and reinstall the driver.

Use the MTP with Windows Media Player mode, MSC mode without.
