• Windows 7 takes FOREVER to load the user/switch user screen

  Earlier today, I turned on my Toshiba laptop (Satellite P855-S5200) and got some kind of error message, and then he led me to a screen asking if I wanted to do a system repair or start windows normally. I chose the repair of the system, but then it seemed stuck in this process (it took forever and nothing happened), so I turned off the laptop (I don't know, not big), started in safe mode, and did a system restore to a restore point from a week ago. I just let it sit there and after about 5 minutes, the usernames popped up and I was able to continue to use the computer with no problems, no speed no questions whatsoever. Now, he makes me wait each time, always five minutes, pop up user names before. It does when I reboot the machine and when I try to switch users.

  Are you referring to the ability to change user on a single computer to Windows XP (this is called 'Fast user switching')?

  Assuming that you are referring to the fast user switching option, (a) Services the Client for Netware has nothing to do with the fast user switching, and (b) do you mean start > Logoff now does not include the ' switch users '?

  Note that there are 3 different ways to use WAS (once it has been activated)

  • Click Start, click close, and then click switch user.
  • Open (CTRL + ALT + DELETE) Task Manager and then click switch user in the shut down menu.
  • Hold down the Windows key and press the L key)

  Assuming that WAS has been activated and that none of the 3 methods of work, and if it has not been so for a long time, try to use system restore to return to a recent restore point.  Do not go back to a point before that you installed or uninstalled applications.

  If the system restore does not help or it has been too long safely using System Restore, there is a file *.reg at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm (line 34, on the left side) which is supposed to restore WAS.  I have a vague memory that I had a few doubts as to if this could work.  It is, however, worth a try.  Back up the registry first by doing a system restore point or using C:\WINDOWS\ERUNT.  Just for reference, Kelly Korner and Lars Hederer sites are safe to download from.

  Unless you are using Novell NetWare (not very common these days) there is no reason to have the "Client Services for Netware" installed.  Go to network connections (start > run > ncpa.cpl > OK) and right-click on the icon for your network adapters.  Click the general tab.  Most individuals should have only 4 points listed under "this connection uses the following items"

  • Client for Microsoft networks
  • File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft networks
  • Internet (TCP/IP) Protocol
  • QoS Packet Scheduler

  If you have anything listed, after return and explain how your computer is networked and that (for example, a corporate LAN).

  I have two user accounts on my Windows Vista Home Premium system. Both have been implemented as administrators, but one account was changed to the user 'Standard '. Once this change has been made I could no more switch users or make other changes to the users.   Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

• My iMac freezes during a turn on and between two switching user accounts

  My 2011 iMac has been crashing for weeks. Usually, it freezes when I turn it on, connect to switching user accounts or user accounts.

  I upgraded to Sierra yesterday and I continued using for hours and it was fine.

  I turned on today; some of the Apple applications do not work... Mail, App Store, Safari (this is what I tried). Responsible mail application, saw a list of emails, but when I click on a particular message, the message will not load. Safari cannot load a Web page at all (I'm now using Chrome). AppStore cannot load anything too.

  I asked for help here before the crash but I was reluctant to share the report of being. Now, I've read about it and understand how it works. The report says "failed".

  I recommend you to uninstall Avast! & Comodo temporarily from Add / Remove Programs. Later, check to see if the problem persists.

  To uninstall Avast!, you can use utility aswClear to uninstall Avast!.

  Can someone help me install send a message to the user on Windows 2008rs on Windows Task Manager user...

  Well, that's the case I click with the right button on the taskbar click Start Task Manager, click user and do a right click on a user, click send a message, I type a message and click OK and it says (your message to the user Paul (sessionid = 1) could be sent. Access is denied. Can someone please help :).

  The error that you normally get is due to a lack of Message special access permission rights. You can learn more about this here. You will notice in the section Additional Considerations that he mentions this authorization. You can manage permissions on a per connection basis in Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration. The permissions are listed on the Security tab in the connection Properties dialog box.

  Could check you the permission level and see if that solves it.

  1. temporarily disable your antivirus software. See if the problem stops.
  2. your account could be damaged. Delete the account. Re-set up your account.
