Windows, clones and persona management saved credentials

Hi all

We have an infrastructure of clone of work with Persona management put in place. Everything works very well only our users complain that their windows credentials are not saved to a network share that they use, what is actually the case: once you change the clones, even though you checked to remind the credentials box, your windows password safe is empty and the credentials must be entered again to access the remote share.

I looked around, I found this KB:

http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 2052573

As I understand it, touring credentials is not supported, and this can be done. Which, I guess, sort of logic.

However, I came across this post on the forum:

Finds support in the management of Persona to CryptProtectData

Where is the original says that "View Persona Manager does support the Windows API data protection.' poster.

I'm confused here: is it possible to wander the credentials for network shares or not? If so, how this reach you? If not, is it final or is it planned to get this working?

Thanks for your comments,

Marc

For everyone wondering the same thing and do not find an answer, upgrading the client to view the clones to 6.0.1 fixed the problem.

Initial tests of those VMS reveals that when a user logs on to a virtual computer and logs in the other, their tiles begin to Don't wander is not with them. I read a lot of people are a bit dismayed and implies that Microsoft is trying to kill the roaming profile.

With the help of the Persona and roaming management %LocalAppData%, after a closed session at the next logon are quite a few questions. Often, the start menu does not open or empty.

It turns out that specifying a roaming profile path in the object active directory of users was the cause for the synchronization of partial management of persona. Despite this work with windows 7 and the management of the persona, seems not to work when a profile path is specified in the object of the AD, and perhaps in other GPOS that apply to the VM OR or the user OR windows 10 and persona management.

Maybe we could use a GPO applied to set "Allow only local user profiles" and apply it to the UO of VM of Horizon.

We do not want to be able to specify a path in the object to users when they log on a physical computer and the GPO from VMware is supposed to replace. "Ignore the path of the Active Directory user profile is configured." must be broken or does not work as expected in Windows 10.

If your metro applications fail to start, try the 'dead' in the post powershell following [IE11] and the crash of edge at startup if the client uses the roaming profile (Win10 1511) | Microsoft Connect

  • Windows 7 and power management utility

Hi everyone, it's still me and another question. : P

Has anyone managed to get the toshiba power saver software to work under W 7? Honestly, I prefer this software instead of windows because I can implement several core / HDD / screen options and therefore, use all the power of my pc only when I really need (most of the time I use the pc for study / navigate) and it is not necessary use full power

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

Energy saving of Toshiba you know of WXP doesn t exist anymore. It changed with Vista.
Now, most of the parameters of power will be controlled by Vista and Toshiba has limited and light energy saving version.

In my view, that will be the same with Win7. If GST you have in WXP doesn t exist anymore.
Now you can simply switch between profiles defined in Vista/Win7 only.

    We have a strange problem

We test with 10 windows and the management of the persona, and so far the synchronization does not work. Folder redirection with persona works without any problem

  • Problem with the floating linked clones and Persona

    Hello

    We run a build view Horizon 6.2.0 - 3005368.

Just improved our VMware environment to 6.2 and installing an APEX 2800 PCoIP card on our guests.

I had a pool of office dedicated clone bound for users.

Now, I made a new image of master and made a new Automated Desktop Pool pool who are floating clone related.

With the dedicated bound vmis, we place disc profiles of users etc are located.

With the new pool, I'll use Persona. I followed this guide - http://terenceluk.blogspot.no/2012/10/configuring-roaming-profiles-with.html?showComment=1445933020356 and it works very well indeed, almost.

For users of a trial, I can see that if something I save it to the desktop, it will be saved on the server of file \\fileserver\redirected$\%username%\Desktop

When I use my user and try to even something on the desktop - it c:\%username%\Desktop

I tried to reset, remove my user etc., but it's not. All the settings I made in the GPO - Computer Configuration-> administration-> classic administrative templates (ADM) models-> Configuration of the VMware View Agent-> Persona

    Management-> Folder Redirection

But my users settings are only "local".

    How is it?

This can be caused by an incorrect action or NTFS permissions on the redirection of folder/persona.

She is also due if your user account has a profile on the parent whose linked clone desktops are created.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Windows 7 and Desktop Manager

Hi, I have a 8700 c runs the last device from AT & T (4.5.110) software.  I recently installed Windows 7 Build 7000, and I can't connect with my BB via USB.  Office Manager starts and begins to communicate via USB, then crashes.  If I disconnect and reconnect the USB, the program quickly continues, but I am unable to sync or to downgrade the software for the device.

I'm not trying to use the media, just the Desktop Manager Manager.  I'vetried to reinstall Desktop Manager 4.7 and 4.6; also the software of the device.  I tried Troubleshooting compatibility for the Desktop Manager and the charger.

Nothing seems to help.  My computer is a Thinkpad T60.

If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it.

    Thank you

  • Help me understand Windows cloning and personalized care

    Hello

I've done a lot of reading, and it seems that the more I read, more confused as I get...

I need to build a model Win2012 and Win2008 for deployment via vCAC.

Documentation, it seems you must define a context of personalization for this to work, is that correct?

How much of the customization of the virtual machine can be done via the VCAC custom properties, what is the mechanism by which hooks in the specification vCAC custom?

Finally, the customized specifications are optional, or do you have to specify one?

    Confused, I'm...

vCAC properties do not settle within the operating system. Using your network profiles, the profile highlights service all relevant information in custom within vCAC properties, but vCAC himself will not take not (for Windows) the action of sysprep to set the IP address of the virtual machine at the time of commissioning, it will however, passthrough these variables of the spec customization network so that IP address is set to the virtual computer for sysprep.

So, no, you should always have a configuration of customization specification if you want more that a simple clone to occur... Unless you use the other means do those after provisioning actions. They arise magically on their own.

  • On vSphere Linked Clone and Lab Manager 4

    Hello

In the Lab Manager Installation and Upgrade guide, there is a sentence saying: "Lab Manager is not compatible VMware Fault Tolerance (FT) or clones linked vSphere.".

My question is: "what is a vSphere Linked Clone? Is is distinguished by a Clone of VMware? Because as far as I am concerned, the linked cloning technology came from Lab Manager right?

    Thank you!

Welcoem to the Forums - Yes TI a vSphere Linked Clone is different from that in Lab Manager Linked Clone but unserlying technology is the same - the difference is whtechnology manages the linked clone - vSphere is handled only by the vSphere environment while a cloned associated Lab Manager is managed by you are your Lab Manager environment.

  • See Persona management and different versions of Windows

    Hello

I would like to have management Persona to respect version of profile settings in Windows.

I enabled through the registry of Windows, versions of profile but Persona management always uses the suffix V2. Is there a way of automatically manages this or should I create two different GPO for windows 7 and windows 8.1 where I specify two different paths?

    Cristiano

    Hi Cristiano,.

    Regarding your questions.

Automatically adds the Persona. V2 as a suffix of the profile. It's for Windows 7 up to version 8.1.

If you want to differentiate the profile for Win7 and Win8.1, then you must create the location of different profile using different GPOS.

However, if users want their data are always the same, I suggest that you use the folder redirection for data users such as "My documents", "my music", etc.. "

    Hello

    · Makes the popup window at some point?

    · You have scheduled a backup timely data on the computer?

    · How much time does it take for the course ends?

    1. check if no trace of the task is listed in the event viewer: how to view and manage the event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427

    2. always check if any program of personal storage name is listed in Add or remove programs list.

Access add or remove programs, you can follow these steps:

    a. click on start

    b. click Control Panel

    c. click Add or remove programs

    3. on-line virus scanner and check if any malware or virus detected on the computer activity. You can run the scan for viruses online from the link below: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

NOTE: Make sure that you select the correct version of the operating system before downloading the scanner)

  • Your power plan information isn't available - and default Windows 7 missing power management

I recently installed Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit on my laptop HP Pavilion DM1-4027sa (ships with the 32-bit version, but I wanted to install more than 4 GB of memory where the change in 64-bit).  Initially, all default power plans were presented and Windows Experience Index has worked.  Then somewhere along the line of the installation of a large number of windows updates (including SP1) and install the latest HP Power Manager (the root of the problem, in my opinion), the default power disappeared and it stopped the test Windows Experience Index working (details below).  I searched these forums and the internet more widely for a solution and have already tried the following:

1 uninstalled HP Power Manager (the first thing I did).

As well, the default settings have been removed (probably by HP Power Manager) is it possible to re - install the Win 7 default power management without making a long system repair?  (I have installed since many things that literally took days.  So I really hated to have to all downwind just to fix this power scheme)
Thank you in advance to anyone who can answer this question.

I think I have solved this problem.  The information in the links below I created .pow files for all default windows using plans/plans (energy saving, high performance and balance) on an another Windows 7 laptop (a Lenovo N200 with a power management which had not been ruined by the program of management of power supply by the manufacturer).  I then imported these power schema files into my HP laptop and, fingers crossed, everything works as it should again.  I hope it will help someone else who has the same problem after installing the HP Power Manager (it is no doubt HP Power Manager that caused the problem in the first place).

  • View 7, Identity Manager 2.6 and Windows authentication, and whether or not real SSO is required for Kerberos

I am trying to configure our environment so that users can open the Identity Manager web page and be automatically authenticated via their currently logged on credentials of domain.  I activated the Windows authentication and configured Kerberos in Identity Manager.  However, when you select a pool of offices a command prompt is received always ask the user password.  I read https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 2143567 and understand that maybe expected behavior.  True SSO would solve this problem?  I read that true SSO supports Kerberos.  Is there another way?  The general objective is to allow the user to log on to Windows and be able to access the office pools and applications through identity web page Manager uninvited credentials again.

I just wanted to know all that true SSO did indeed me reach my goal.
