Windows Media Player 12 crashing

OK, here's the deal.   I'm looking for information for a particular album... When I try to do this Windows Media Player hangs.  No error message, just "windows media player has stopped all of a sudden" and the option I have is at the end of task.  I tried to uninstall the application to add/remove windows components.  Don't know what else to do.

Help!

  • Windows Media Player 12 crashes after each track when ripping a CD, then crashes at the end of the disc.

I've recently updated to Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate - it was clean install and most things work very well. One of the most common things that I do on my PC is rip CDs and Windows Media Player 12 seems much slower to do what Windows Media Player 11 on Vista. The big problems I have are:

1 after each track has reached 100%, WMP12 freezes, said the top of the window (not responding) and after about 30 seconds, it moves to the next track.

    2. This continues for each track, until it reaches the last track of the CD - when it reaches 100% on this one, it freezes again and still average forever (or at least until that my patience runs out!). Then I have to close WMP12 that triggers a dialog box saying "the program is unresponsive"-choose "Close the program" and closed WMP12. When I restart my album WMP12 was torn with success. Adding album art using the right click "paste Album Art" feature is just as slow compared to WMP11 on Vista.

Please note: I initially thought that these delays were because the destination music folder Rip is a drive network hard (although WMP11 was ok with that) so I changed the destination music Rip in a local folder - C:Users\Public\Music - and the fault still happening.

Does anyone - especially someone of Microsoft - can help with this. Using WMP12 was one of the things I was most excited by my Windows 7 upgrade and it's really disappointing.

    Thank you

SYSTEM: HP Pavilion Elite running Windows 7 32 bit Ultimate edition, AMD Phenom 9500 2.20 GHz Quad-Core processor, 4 GB RAM, 1 TB of disk hard of the shipped. I suggest that you try to reset the media library. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:

    -Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service . If its status is started , double-click the service, and then click stop .
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this folder, rename the folder Media Player as Old Media Player . If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists. Tim Baets

  • crash of Windows media player

My windows media player just crashed. At the beginning I could not simply open a track, then all the tracks, and now does not open the whole wmp.

I get an error C00D11B1; but the web help microsoft is pretty useless. It doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my sound card.

I downloaded itunes, and although the song files were all transported to itunes, no song files can be played. Otherwise said, itunes knows the song length, title etc, but is not able to actually play the track.

Basically, none of my wma files can be opened/played, and apparently, they can be converted to other formats as well.

I am running windows vista. Any ideas?

    tuv88,

Consider reinstalling the Codecs necessary for files other default settings in windows so. You can do a search in your favorite sources recommended codec engine, we do however not all formats not included with Vista or on codecs.microsoft.com. Let us know if we can help you.

  • Windows Media Player Windows 7 freezes during playback.

My Windows Media Player will crash occasionally Windows 7. This happens when I play an entire album ripped to my computer and I click next to move to the next song. This has happened on several different albums and can't get on the same track. I have a Dell XPS 8700 (recently purchased, but with Windows 7 installed) with 8 GB of RAM and a processor Intel Core 7.

I tried the program on the Microsoft site to fix WMP, and while the program worked, it has not fixed the problem.

.AVI is a container file and the audio/video and now in which can be encoded with any codec available. Windows Media Player supports all of these default codecs. Therefore, a separate codec must be installed for this purpose. Trying to play with the existing code may crash the application.

  • Windows Media Player crashes

I have a Pavilion laptop dv7 (P/N VZ500PA #ABG) running Windows 7, and even if I was using Windows Media Play on this computer for 18 months without any problem, recently it started to freeze on me sporadically. When I open a folder I noticed that it takes a long time (more than normal along...) I'm guessing 20 seconds) to answer. When I play a file she also occasionally ignores, and it has nothing to do with an error in the file.

I'd be gratefule for any help that you could provide. Thank you in advance.

In case anyone cares, I gave up on Windows Media Player because although some of the solutions provided in this thread solved the problem temporarily, it would start eventually freeze up again. So I downloaded Winamp, which freezes if I try to use to play the CD (but not Windows Media Player) and works perfectly when I use it to play MP3s (where Windows Media Player does not work). Unhappy that he had to come to this, but it seems to be the most effective practical solution.

  • Windows Media Player crashes when you open a file

The player program freezes when I try to open a video file from Windows Media Player.

However, when opening a video file (right click > open with > Windows Media Player) the video plays normally.

A month ago, has worked these two methods.
