Windows says that my copy is authentic, but update Windows 10 says that it is not
I built my PC myself four years ago and have not had any problems with the copy of Windows 7 Pro that I bought, until I started trying to pass to Windows 10 free. The update of Windows 10 says that I need to activate my copy of Windows 7.
However, when I right click on computer and click Properties, it says "Windows is activated." I was wondering if the copy I bought was not official, so I downloaded the Microsoft Genuine Advantage diagnostic tool. He also says that my copy is genuine.
What can I do to solve this problem, or I can get a new key of Windows 7 and can reactivate somehow my copy of Windows 7 Pro? Thank you.

August 22, 2011 I just do a fresh install of Windows XP Professional formatting the hard drive. I then applied SP3 for an OEM CD, I bought from Microsoft several years (part number X 14-60166-02). Even if it is now at the level of the SP3, the automatic updates from the Microsoft web site will not work. If I bought the latest version of the SP3 CD-ROM, which will be the same as what I have now, or it will integrate all of the fixes that have taken place in recent years? Thanks for any help on this.

Out of the blue, I get a message in the corner of my screen, "Windows 7 Build 7601, this copy of Windows is not genuine." All day, I tried Microsoft solutions without success. At the same time, I got a window that asked my product ID, and I used the 25-digit Microsoft label on my computer. The ID was dismissed as unfounded. Long story short, I got the key product using Belarc and its different from that on the label, but it's correct. I know because Microsoft, I learned the last 10 digits and it matches. Now I can not find the Microsoft page requesting my product ID. I don't have the option, click Start, right-click computer, click Properties and activate. It says unavailable.
Second problem that my being the result of the first, when I use the update of the window, I get the error code 80070424. I tried all the solutions on the Microsoft Web site, and I feel like a dog chasing its tail. I downloaded all Fixit and even said that it is not a problem with the Update window. When I click on windows update, I get the message "you may be victim of software counterfeiting. My computer is a gateway and Windows 7 has been factory-installed by Acer.Of you techies light allows an old man to solve these problems?JerryHello
Thanks for posting of application on Microsoft Community.According to the information you have given it seems that you are not able to run Windows Update as a result of not being able to activate Windows. Therefore logically first difficultythe problem of activation and then work on Windows updates. As you say "at a time given, I got a window that asked my product ID, and I used the 25-digit Microsoft label on my computer." The ID was rejected as unfounded". I wish to inform you that a product ID is different from the product key. If you receive an activation window then in order to validate the window you must enter the product key 25 digits. The 20-character product * ID * is created during the installation and displays highlight down (in the Activation section) on the opening window resulting Panel right click on the computer icon and select 'Properties' from the context menu. It is used to get/qualify for technical support (limited though it may be) of Microsoft; It is of no use during the installation process.25 character product * key * is used to 'prove' ownership of a license is necessary to perform the installation and is either stored on the DVD packaging on a sticker that says "Don't lose that number", or on a certificate of authenticity (CoA) label
for an OEM computer. To access the window of Activation of Windows, follow these steps:- Click Start
- Type slui.exe and press ENTER.
- You will see the Windows Activation window
- Enter the 25-character product key and try to activate Windows.

original title: the customer service is horrible
After I downloaded beta Security Essentials, my computer say suddenly that he was not a genuine copy of Windows running and locked up.
I called last night and got a foreign person has attempted to resolve the issues and could not, so he told me that I had to call back after 06:00 to speak to someone in the United States. So I called back today at 06:00 and got one of those who are running around things voice control that didn't fix my problem at all. After much effort, I got a live person. Again, it was a foreign person (why make me wait all night and get up early to call?!?!)This woman told me to restart. I told her that I had rebooted about 10 times since the day before and each time he took forever to load back up the box that tells me that I need to activate windows. She has reiterated, "I ask you to restart." I knew he wouldn't do ANYTHING, but I did and after the session it forever (as I told him it would be) she told me that I had to remind once I got up the box again. I called after that I got the box AND HAD TO START OVER again ONCE with someone new. Of course, she was trying to pass me to someone else.Of course, after all this trouble, no MS sells a product key for Vista, it is abandoned. So I need to go buy Windows 7 and she told me that I'll LOSE EVERYTHING when I install it - all my documents and family photos are gone forever. Why not take my money and sell me a product key instead of let me in trouble? The worst ever undertaken. Of course, MS doesn't care because they have a monopoly. You should not need to buy anything except the recovery disc for your machine (if the built-in recovery partition does not work), unless you really need Win 7 for some reason any.
That being said - the COA sticker on your machine is readable? If Yes, then you should have no problem with a Windows 7 upgrade version - but you will need to either use activation by phone, or installation methods described here...

Windows 7 says my copy is illegal, but it is not.
I bought the CD of W7 Ultimate and download it from the Microsoft site. When I reinstalled my computer with a new hard drive, I installed W7 and activated the option "Automatically record online" (or something like that, I'm not sure of the exact wording). It worked fine for awhile, but now, my office has turned black and it is said in the lower right corner that my copy is illegal. It is certainly not illegal, I've paid enough money for it and I bought directly from Microsolft site! I was also very careful when I typed long serial number.
What should I if you like (and how do I do)?
AB
Try to activate again first by phone:
Activate Windows 7 manually:
1. click on start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 42. press enter on your keyboard
3. Select your country.
4. Select the telephone activation option and brace yourself for a real person. Please run the Microsoft Genuine Diagnostics Tool then copy and paste the results into an answer here for further analysis:

Depends entirely on this laptop you have. If it has a 64-bit processor
You can use 64-bit Windows. If a 32-bit CPU, you can't.If you don't know you have, hold down the Windows key and press
Break | Break. It will tell you if you have a 32-bit
processor or 64-bit processor. -

deleted the windows on windows defender and impossible to reinstall! Message comes out and says that I should not install windows defender, because it came with windows vista. How can I try to fix it when I have windows Defender on my computer?
You can not delete Defender in Vista.
It is part of the Vista operating system.
You can only activate / it:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-Windows-Defender-on-or-off
Enable or disable the Windows Defender
Many anti-virus have conflict Defender (McAfee, AVG, etc.), and turn it out / conflict with it.
Microsoft Security Essentials, it turns off because it has its own version.
See you soon.

From my computer, my password is not correct no doubts, but the system said that it is not, ran maleware advast and no problem. Would it be a glich in the updates? Is this a battery problem? When it is plugged in, it works after the 5 or greater.
Him begins the article with some basic steps you can take and then work upwards through more complicated methods where the easiest do not solve the problem. Please read the intro, but this looks like a corrupted user profile that needs fixing or replacement.
Follow the precautionary measures later in the thread as well.
You could be up & running again within an hour, probably less.

My wife tried to update firefox and since then it will not open. When I click it a window appears and says that I have to finish the upgrade a previous version by restarting. When I reboot nothing changes.
If the files have already been downloaded, then delete the files in the folder updates\0 and updates.
You can also remove active - update.xml, or even updates.xml (stores the history of update).- http://KB.mozillazine.org/Software_Update (Update works not properly)
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox)
Do a cleaning (re) install and delete the folder of the program Firefox (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 8.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current version of Firefox if possible.
- Do NOT remove the data of a personal nature when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- It is important to remove the Firefox program folder to delete all the files and make sure that there is no problem with the files that were the remains after uninstallation.
Your bookmarks and other profile data stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a relocation, but make sure that you do not select delete data of a personal nature if you uninstall Firefox.

Hello
You must have the program, the files were written in vista installed in windows 7 to read
you do not have file extensions
read this
You must have the program installed to be able to read the files of programs
for example, if it's a .doc file, you installed Word
.xls, you need Excel
. PPS, you need Powerpoint
etc.
but fortunately, there are FREE viewers provided by Microsoft for the file extensions above which will save you having to buy Microsoft Office
Here are the download links for free Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint viewers:
Word Viewer
View, print and copy Word documents, even if you don't have Word installed. This download is a replacement for Word Viewer 2003 and all previous Word Viewer versions.
Excel Viewer
Open, view, and print Excel workbooks, even if you don't have Excel installed. This download is a replacement for Excel Viewer 97 and all previous Excel Viewer versions.
PowerPoint 2007 Viewer
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 Viewer allows you to view the presentations of all the features created in PowerPoint 97 and later versions.
and you can try the FREE Open Office applications game to read these file extensions
and here's how to set file associations
How do I... Change file extension associations in Windows Vista?
