Windows upgrade errors

Currently, using Win7 Pro and Windows Update has stop working. I see my story yet it says that I have never updated. Whenever I try, I get an error of Windows upgrade error. 0x80072F8F-0 x 20000 or similar. I would like to Win 10, but this problem is to avoid the upgrade as well. Running MSRT earlier and no problems found. Security Essentials have run scans and it shows up-to-date with definitions and is also no problem. Have you tried the WIN10 upgrade icon, the Wizard download and download Win10 directly. The downloads go so far and restart, then come back with impossible to deal with errors. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Today, I tried to load my computer and was faced with the blue screen error short story that my hard drive some how became corrupt and had no partition. Fortunately, I had a friend who told me step by step how to solve this problem using my hard drive in my brothers pc. When it came to reinstalling windows I booted the computer directly from my windows disc 8 and when I tried to activate the key once I was ready to I received an error Code: 0xC004F061Description: The Software Licensing service determind that specified only usable product key for the upgrade not for own pieces. Means that I can not use the key I bought and must buy a new one? It seems really unfair because I've already spent money on the upgrade.

You upgraded to Windows 8, but did not have an earlier version of Windows Installer (error 0xC004F061)

If you see error 0xC004F061 when you try to activate Windows 8, this means that you are using a product key for an upgrade of Windows 8 version and a previous version of Windows wasn't on your PC when Windows 8 was installed. To install a Windows 8 upgrade version, you must already have Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP installed on your PC.

To activate Windows 8, you will need to install your previous version of Windows, and then reinstall Windows 8. Help with the activation process, contact technical support.

    Hello

I have a brand new A200 - TH1 comes with Vista Home Premium installed Edition. I had to install Vista Ultimate to get the job in Sql Server 2005 Reporting SERVICES. I have restored to Home Premium using recovery disks, everything is stable until I apply vista ultimate improvement. Hello Jack

I imagine that you have these problems, because a few months ago, I read an interesting article on this update and it was written on possible problems after the upgrade procedure. I installed a few times Ultimate on my A200 but as new installation.

What you can try is to install the OS by using recovery media, delete all the stuff designed by Toshiba, including all other software like Norton. After doing this upgrade brand.

When the upgrade is complete, install all the stuff of Toshiba order following facilities described in the instructions for Installations. I A200 with Vista Home Premium but I don't have a media Anytime upgrade and cannot test with my Satellite.

  • Windows Update error 80070246

    Hello

I have recently upgraded to Windows Vista Home Premium (SP1, 32-bit). Once installation is complete, I did the normal thing to go to windows update to get all the updates. After validation, it started to download somewhere in the order of 1 million updates (which is normal) and installed most of them without problem. However, these few finals refuse to install.

.NET framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and the .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update - KB 951847
    For updates: KB850974, KB952004 KB953733 KB956802, KB957097, KB960803
    Update for Windows Vista: KB959108 KB952709, KB957388.

Trying to install, I get the:

Code: 80070246 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

Things, I tried that did not work and why/how they do not have to work:

1: Download updates manually and install them with the Setup program to update windows on the local system (from windows update program) I just get the result "missed" without any explanation.
2: started 'clean' and tried both (1) and the windows update with the same problem
3: installation of each of them individually (both in the release order and random order) as well as a couple at a time groups, similar (updates security, updates, vista, etc)... nothing.
4: I went to the site of support here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942968 and followed the instructions verbatim, including the download and installation of Windows AIK... no change.
5: I tried "sfc/scannow" in an elevated command prompt (I also tried to take 'ownership' of my windows directory). I got the following results:

Start of the phase of verification of the scanning system.
    Full check of 11%.
Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation.

    6. I run Trend Micro Internet Security for which I completely from the program (not to mention the 'clean' boot) and tried without success.

The only thing I can think to do then (apart from reformatting..) is the option 'fix' on boot from the installation CD but I only am not 100% sure who would fix.

Someone at - it suggestions? I'm puzzled.

    Thank you

    W1ReD

    Hi W1ReD,

    Thanks for posting answers.microsoft.com

To successfully install the update, uninstall all versions of the .NET Framework on the computer, and then reinstall all the versions of the .NET Framework on the computer. You may need to work through more than one of the following methods.

Follow the steps in this KB article

When you try to install an update for .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 or 3.5, you may receive Windows Update error code

I realize that it is not specifically the error received, however, the determination is essentially the same.

  • DEP closing Windows Explorer in windows XP error

My computer is running Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2. I get "Windows Explorer has been closed in error DEP". System seems usually hangs at this point and after some time, comes back with a "recovered from a serious error message" how to solve this? Is it "compatible DEP" copy of the Windows Explorer pane? It occurs once after I have start the system. After it passes by him once, it seems to do very well.

First of all, it would be good to know why you didn't have not upgraded your system to Service Pack 3, which is more than 3.5 years.  SP3 contains many updates and security patches applied, can relieve your system of this affection.

Check out the fixes in SP3 here:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/946480

Is not not wanting to work on Service Packs with obsolete systems (given that the question may have already been fixed with the SP3 update), I'll give you some general information on troubleshooting the errors of the DEP in Windows Explorer.

First try to reduce the risk of a malware infection by doing this:

No matter what you use for malware protection, follow these steps:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs at:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
Restart your computer and only then to solve the remaining problems.

If you have DEP errors, it will be useful to see if you can reproduce the error on request.

DEP in Windows Explorer errors appear generally when click with the right button on folders or files and try to perform an action in the list right click for options.  If you can reproduce at will, then when you perform an adjustment, if you no longer see the error DEP, you will know that you have thought about it.

When the Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) is wrong (especially when right click), begin to suspect third-party add-ons explore extension.

Those who would be the Explorer extensions that do not belong to Microsoft.  This means that extensions that you have added.  Solution Explorer extensions are generally well and installation of certain applications will install extensions from Explorer solutions for you, give you a choice and sometimes they can be added without your knowledge when you install the new software.

Solution Explorer extensions are sometimes added as a new right-click option, you see on folders and files (like the scan of this file, open that file, play this song...).

If there is something in particular that you do during exploration that you know will be the cause of the problem, which will help focus on the problem and the help that you suddenly know, when you have found and corrected.  If you can get there when you want it, make an adjustment and then there is no message the next time you don't do anything, you do, you have found and corrected.

First of all you need a way to see what modules explore you have installed now and a way to turn them off (not uninstall them) so you can understand that we are at the origin of the problem.  You can have a lot of extensions not installed Microsoft don't even know you about.

Download ShellExView here to see what Explorer extensions you have loaded:

    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/shexview.html

ShellExView does not install anything on your computer, simply of runs and displays.

After launching ShellExView, under Options, choose "Mark non-Microsoft Extensions" and extensions not Microsoft will be pink, clear, but on some systems which is a difficult color to see, so click on display, choose the columns and move the column Microsoft closer to the top, so you can see on your screen without having to scroll left and right.

Click on the column header for Microsoft sort display (by clicking on the column of Microsoft) then all the non Microsoft extensions are on top and easy to see.

Non-Microsoft extensions would be things you have added (non-Microsoft) and are what you should be suspect.

You can also Google the name of a suspect add-on and see if there is any success on the mistakes of the DEP and what other people have done about it.
    You can Google something like:

Explorer XP crashing (you must fill in the name of add your suspect on.)

See what kind of search results hits you get and are looking for solutions or situations that sound like yours.

I'm not a defender of trial and error, but I can't think of another way to do...

Right click and disable the non Microsoft extensions one at a time (or maybe in groups of 3-5 at a time), keep a list, so you can enable them again later if you wish. The result of the change is immediate and no reboot is necessary.  Test your failure condition.  If the Explorer starts to behave, you will know that an extension of this group of 3-5 is the culprit in order to start to enable them one by one until the Explorer fails again.

If you recognize all the extensions that have been added or recently downloaded, start with these first.

Don't forget - disabling the extension does not uninstall the extension - it is just disabled so you can always turn it on again.

Disable them one at a time until your right click on do not generate an error, then restart and test again.  You have disabled the last extension would be suspicious.

You can also just disable all non-Microsoft extensions, restart and allow them one at a time until you find the one that generates the condition.

If you have a large number of extensions, you can disable them is small groups, 3-5 at a time instead of 1 at a time until your system starts to behave.  When it does not, you will know that the problem is one of the extensions of this small group and you can enable members of the Group at a time until the problem returns, then the problem is with the last extension that you enabled.

The hope is that you will find an extension that caused the error, and then you can figure out what on this subject - either uninstall it or see if you can get an update of the author of the extension of their web page.

I have not your problem, but I can when you toggle extensions, the extension is immediately disabled, so disable an extension does not seem to require a restart, but if you think that you have found the problem, I reboot and repeat the test in any case to be sure the problem disappeared.

If you post your non-Microsoft extensions list, maybe someone will recognize it as a potential problem.

If you find the offending extension that's the problem, please let us know what it is that I can add to my list.

  • Pavilion dv6t-2000: Post recover process reimage disk - windows update error code a 8024, 000

    Hello

After replacing my old HDD with a new SSD, I successfully used my purchased 1 & 2 recovery discs to reload Windows 7 x 64.  Now, I am able to connect to the internet and navigate through Internet Explorer, but I can't get Windows Update to work.  I get this error: Windows Update 8024A 000 error Code.

I researched and found this fix:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows8_1-update/Windows-Update-error-code-8024a00...

However, after you follow the steps to stop services, rename the specified files, register the dll, and then finally to leave the services, I'm still having the problem.  I also ran a utility "fix" looking for issues with the Windows Update utility, it has been correctly executed and said it solved the problem, but the problem persists.  I get more a 8024, 000 of the error, but the update still does not work.

I don't him have not yet tried this, because of the weather, but will plan no later than today:

In safe mode, access c:\windows\ and rename C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution to SoftwareDistribution.old.
    OK and restart.

I also tried to upgrade to the latest version of the Windows Update utility which has as well.  I can install other applications (e.g., Norton anti-virus, java, adobe flash player) without problem.

I noticed that I have not installed ServicePack 1, I did before as I have reimagee my computer. I need to install this first?

Anyone has any ideas, or did I miss something?

    Your help is appreciated!
