Hello mike salinas.

1. you have any third-party burning software installed on your computer?

2. have you checked if the external CD drive works on another computer?

I suggest that you check if your internal CD-ROM drive is detected in the BIOS.

Usually, you must press a key (for example, F2, F12, DEL, ESC) or a key combination whenever you turn on your computer, but before I get to the BIOS to start Windows. Check to see if there is the CD/DVD drive in the BIOS.

You can see the article for more information about the BIOS:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/BIOS-frequently-asked-questions

Regarding the external CD/DVD drive, I suggest you see if it works on another computer.

Thank you

  • Windows Vista cannot find the CD/DVD drive

The problem: my computer does not find my CD/DVD drive, it is not listed in Device Manager as at all CD/DVD drive, it has power because it opens when I press the button, and when I put a CD, it does nothing.

My computer: I have Windows Vista Home Premium, dv6700 Notebook, 32 bit, running on the System Pack 1. (I tried to update to the pack 2 system, but at some point, he is simply decided to AC turns off and when I booted up my laptop, he did a system restore and poof, System Pack 2 was gone, and I never re-installed.)
What I tried: I tried the Fix It program here on Windows, and it has detected a problem (if I remember correctly, but had no trouble for him); I tried deleting the upper and lower filters (which I haven't really found, because the CD/DVD is NOT an option in my device manager); I tried setting my computer back to factory settings completely.
Basically, I'm at a loss to know what to do to try to solve this problem. I don't remember how long this has happened (at the time, that my hard drive does not open even for me to put a CD) and I don't see what program could have caused it as appropriate. The only rider listed is listed under disk drives, and it's WDC WD2500BEVS - 60UST0 ATA Device (I don't know if cela help/questions in all). I do not have a disk; the laptop comes with Windows Vista and if she had a drive anyway, I didn't like this laptop was given to me by my father. I don't know what else to do to try to solve this problem. Someone please help.

    Hello

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

  • Windows Vista does not recognize my external hard drive, Eagle Consus AND-CS2PSU2-BK

I have an HP Presario laptop running Windows Vista and it does not recognize my external hard drive, or my flash drives.

I have an external hard drive Eagle Consus AND-CS2PSU2-BK.  It worked fine on my desktop, which works on XP.  I plug it to my computer laptop and nothing.

When I plugged it in the first place, he says that he needed to download the drivers.  I clicked 'ok' to automatically download drivers and a few seconds later, he said that it successfully completed the driver download/install.

I look under the drives in my computer and he's not here.

I went to start, right click computer, left you click on Manage and double-clique then under storage disk management.  All I see are C drive and recovery disc (D).  No other drives displayed.

I exitted who and set up the Control Panel, double click on Device Manager.  He said in the other topic peripheral USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge.  I don't know whether or not it is my external hard drive.  It indicates the Type of device: Other Devices and under device status it says: "the drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28).  This operation requires an interactive window station.  To reinstall the drivers for this device, click on reinstall the driver. »

He asks if I want to reinstall the drivers, so I clicked that.  He couldn't find them / install them.

Still, I don't know if USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge is still linked to my external hard drive.

Help, please.  The same thing happens when I try to plug a flash/USB.

    Try this:

In the right click 'USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge' Device Manager under the other devices section, click unsintall or press the delete key. Reset with the connected hard drive it must be reinstalled, but under the USB controllers. Make sure the device works on the other computer cable can also go to bad.b

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

  • Backup Win XP does not recognize my external hard drive

Windows XP Backup Wizard does not recognize my external hard drive and does not list it as an option for storing backups.  I suspect a registry problem because the backup wizard previously recognized this drive and saved on it several times before I was running ARO 2012 for cleaning the registry errors.  I can always open the player in windows Explorer and see the files it contains, but Explorer Windows XP now lists the drive as an "expansion disc" instead of a 'removable disk '.  When I right click in windows Explorer and open 'properties' for this drive, it shows it as a 'local disk' instead of a 'removable disk '.  The drive is ok when I click the button 'Remove hardware safely', and it reports "safe to remove hardware" after I click on "USB storage device - Drive (J :). ».  Help!

Who did.  Thank you!  Now... I used Aero2012 to clean up the errors in my registry that's because my computer is desperately slow, especially when you start (8-10 minutes) and also with internet explore (move cursor to previous typos when you compose a new e-mail message).  Is there a safe way for me to speed up my computer?
