Hi Something2010, if it is a recent issue, try the system restore (restart the computer on F8 tapping until you reach the Advanced Startup Options menu). Also, make sure you can start without failure or last good known Configuration mode. These options are found in the Advanced Boot Options menu. Dena

Windows Vista Ultimate does not install on Satellite M40
Windows Vista Ultimate settles not on this laptop. Vista hangs after the installation and does not start. Someone knows what's the problem?
Hello
As mentioned above the hardware of the laptop must be compatible and must be able to manage the Vista. The M40 is certainly not Vista capable
But I have installed Vista on the A50 and this laptop is no longer able to Vista but I upgraded the RAM and HARD drive and it works.
Of course, the many features of Vista like Aero don t run but I was able to install it.Maybe the BIOS is not compatible with Vista! It is possible

If you reinstall using the manufacturer's recovery media, you should not have a key for Windows
If you try ot turn on Office applications, you must purchase a license.
Your own product key for Windows is on the COA sticker on the case of the machine - or possibly inside the battery compartment.

Right click in Windows vista file is not open after the restoration.
I want to talk about problem laptop from my brother. One day her laptop stopped working suddenly, after only a few minutes the Vista operating system restored the system to a previous state (4 months ago). It is interesting to know that the operating system has not created any restore point in recent times. After restoring everything works except the right click. He (my brother) is unable to click any file, click function right does not.
I searched this problem on the internet but didn't find that solve everything again. In my opinion, only a windows file is corrupted.

No saving necessary data and re-installing Windows Vista might be the best option, but here
are a few others. You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer as a 2nd disk (best) or external
Drive USB enclosure and then backup to removable media such as CD, DVD or other USB drives.
Of course a real store of the computer or the manufacturer of your system can help to recover the files.Or you can use a boot Ubuntu CD to back up data.
