WLC and Linksys DHCP problem

Hello

I have a WLC 2112 and a DHCP Server enabled on a Linksys router. I set up a wireless LAn to have the IP address of the Linksys DHCP server, but it does not work and when I configure the DHCP anthor server it works.

Can you help me please

Your controller cannot ping the LinkSys Router? In addition, you set up the DHCP server on the interface of the controller, correct?

We recently deployed SG300-28 to replace a former 3Com switch.

    The installation program:

In the SG300 switch router RVS400 and all workstations and server are connected.

    The problem:

Windows 7 workstations are unable to get IP addresses of the server that is also connected to the switch.

If, however, plug us into the workstations in the switch 4 ports on the back of the RVS4000 (the router), they get the IPs from the server without problem.

It works perfectly with the old switch from 3Com for us it was classified in the category small business going.

A few comments/advice appreciated! Thanks in advance!

    Pavol,

Please make sure the SG300 switch running latest firmware 1.1.2.0, also new code then please switch factory reset after the upgrade. If you need assistance in upgrading please call Cisco Small Business Support Center @ 1-866-606-1866

After upgrading please repost how these devices are connected and the configuration of your RVS4000 & SG300 switch series. Using RVS4000 for your DHCP server?

Also make sure your RVS4000 is running latest firmware as well.

  • Westell 7500 and linksys e3200 problems

I used these instructions to put my Fairpoint westell 7500 modem/router in bridge mode: http://www22.verizon.com/Residential...500/123736.htm then I plugged my new e3200 to the westell 7500, but no matter what I tried, I couldn't get any PC connected to the e3200 to be able to access the internet.

Finally, I did a full reset on the westell, who back in PPPoE mode, then I disabled wireless over the westell and then I hooked my e3200 to the westell. Now everything works. Devices connected to the e3200 either by wireless or cable are able to access the internet. Also, devices hooked to the westell cable are are also able to get to the internet too.

    My questions are:

Is there a drawback to doing it this way? (IE, do not put westell in Bridge mode).

This may cause any slow or conflict?

The reasons why the bridge mode may not have worked?

Thanks for all the useful responses. Here's what worked for me.

First, I put my westell 7500 in bridge mode by following these instructions:

    http://www22.Verizon.com/residentialhelp/highspeed/networking/setup/versalink7500/123709.htm

Note: for step 8, I do not chose BRIDGE ROUTED bridge mode as he suggests, instead I used the BRIDGE.

Then I used the signs to config my e3200 for PPPoE connection:

    http://www6.nohold.NET/Cisco2/UKP.aspx?pid=80&VW=1&articleid=3687

These instructions show how to enter you ISP providers user name and password. This is something that the linksys install software CD never asked.

  • Windows 7 Home Edition Premium and Linksys E3000 and configuration problems with Dell/Broadcom half mini wireless 1501 wireless adapter DWLAN

I'be been on the net looking for an answer requarding my Linksys E3000 router and my card adapter Mini PCI Dell/Broadcom DWLAN (DraftN) haf installed on my laptop Dell Inspiron N7010 XL 17 R and the inability to configure the card so he gets the same speed-172 wireless MBps_ as does our HP Vista Home Premium SP2 Laptop and Desktop! Yes, I spoke with Dell who seem to think that all their problems Tech and resolutions can be found with their technicians of the Manila-based Super (Word of warning-do NOT enter into the world of the concierge program of Dell Tech who, after having been assured it is based in the United States, I agreed to be a beta tester and lost my harddrive despite numerous attempts to stop the technicians to access remotely to do stupid things - but the new live Webcam and learn the hard drive but got none of my software original Dell with it as promised, too - another story). In any case, after playing with the DWLAN share of Dell said they question-nope Linksys ' cuz of course my other two computers would be quick at the speed they do. So I get ahold of Comcast, who of course told me, it's a matter of DELL. I have the WPA2 encryption on a network secure, but because my router there is no way to set up a "secure" network guest unless I have disable access to him (seems odd, he says: it is not guaranteed when someone trying to pass over the network, has knowledge password-weird with this router) it is anyway with this mini half DWLAN and the fact that it is not near the speed as the two other wireless adapters. My problem is with the speed I found all kinds of tips for use between Comcast Modem and Linksys router to make your network hum. What I want for now is someone to tell me how to configure this adapter on this Dell computer, so it does the job, it should. I have a program of diagnosis with her and from what I see, I must get off channel 1 as there is too much interference, but before I go and change the settings of the router, I want the adapter to work - especially since it's about 100 Mbps slower than our other wireless adapters. Does anyone know what should be the correct settings for this DWLAN 1501 or that I now need a new adapter in this laptop as well? Thanks for your help.

    LindaSView

    Hi Linda,.

Have you tried to forget an instant wireless and bypass the router and cable connect directly to the modem to see if you get the speed you want in this way?  Yes, I know that this means to temporarily suspend the internet connection to the local network and also means the creation of a special no wireless connection for this computer.  But it could help determine if the problem is the computer and the router or wireless adapter - which excluding at least.

If it works fine, then you can pass the wireless problem.  Otherwise, if it is still slow with a direct link, then you may need to consider another problem is involved and the router and adapter can actually be very well and you need to focus on all that is the bottleneck.

I'm suggesting this to eliminate the possibilities that can be the underlying cause, while you spend your time on the development of bad (although I admit that I think that you are right and it is more likely - it can be useful a test just to be sure).

    Good luck!

  • WLC 5508 internal DHCP server issues

    Hello

I'm hoping to get your comments around the issues of dhcp, I faced with two centrally switched Wireless LAN. I have attempted to explain the installation and the problems below and would be grateful if anyone can suggest a solution for the problems I am facing:

    The configuration is the following:

-J' have a WLC 5508, which has been configured with 4 SSID, of which 2 are the Central authentication and commissioning.
-J' have a LWAP connected to the WLC in HREAP mode.
-WLC is configured as a DHCP server for clients that connect to the SSID "Guest." For the rest, I'm on external dhcp server.
-Only one scope of comments Interface is configured on the WLC.

    Problems:

    1. as far as I know, to WLC serve internal dhcp server, it is mandatory to have the proxy enabled, but the Clients connecting to 'Internet' SSID are

Unable to get an external dhcp server ip address, if the proxy dhcp is enabled on the WLC. If I disable the proxy, everything works fine.

2 DHCP does not release the ip addresses assigned to clients, even after that that they are connected.

    3. If a machine that has previously been connected to "Guest" SSID connects to the 'Internet' SSID, he asks the same ip address, he was charged by the WLC assigned under "Guest", it gets the tag with the Vlan configured on the management interface.

    The controller output *.

  • Using 3500 as a Wireless Extender DHCP problem iPhone X 6

    Hello

If all goes well, a simple question with a simple answer.

    Background:
I stayed away from my DSL provider to a cable provider (VirginMedia). My new ISP is delivered with a modem cable (SuperHub 2 ac) and I connected the two devices together to extend my wireless home network. The cable modem, it's that the two routers are physically apart from others - connected through just their Ethernet ports - the technology of power line (Devolo dLAN 1200 +). Both routers have the same SSID broadcast, but on separate channels.

    Question:
All devices in my house, the tablets of laptops, phones roam between the two areas wi - fi transparently * except * the iPhone 6 (iOS8.1), this works on the cable modem wi - fi, but not on the X 3500 wireless. I also have an iPad Mini 2 (also iOS8.1) which works too - aptly / wrong I have excluded iO8.1 as the issue. Oddly enough, the iPhone 6 connects to the x 3500 but isn't getting an IP address (the cable modem's DHCP server). Even if a static IP address doesn't help.

    Comments:
If the X 3500 is configured as a DHCP server, the iPhoen connects (and gets an IP address), but then the default gateway is incorrect (gateway IP address of the X 3500 is not the modem cable remote). I can't find anywhere to specify a default gateway configuration.

    Question
I start thinking, it is a problem with the iPhone 6 (know all other devices work correctly), but I want to just make sure I am the X 3500 configuration correctly. I am particularly interested in it if I use the right to 'Mode' ADSL / Ethernet. I tried 'Bridged Mode Only' (ADSL) and "Automatic DHCP only" (Ethernet), but does not seem to solve the problem of having the iPhone 6.

any suggestions on how to fix / help would be most welcomed.

    Thank you!

Thanks a lot for the details... Now I have a config that works also for the iPhone6.

Basically, I connected the cable on the 3500 x port and the Ethernet port on the cable modem connected to the internet (via the Powerline). I then changed the network on the 3500 of 192.168.0.x x range (this is the range of network addresses used by the cable modem connected to the internet) to 192.168.168.x. Finally I activated the DHCP on the x 3500 which seemed to be the element that was killing the iPhone6.

The iPhone6 connects now (which he always did), but with DHCP running on the x 3500 on the new range of network addresses of the iPhone 6 also get a valid IP address.

Looks like that much just to get the iPhone 6 to work... never found a manual way to specify a default on the x 3500 gateway when you run DHCP (appears by default which is her own IP address - with no provision to change).

Anyway... This works for now... I'll keep an eye on the iPhoen updates 6, just in case where the anomaly is something specific to the iPhone 6, if something changes I will post here.

I have attached a picture for furture reference. Thanks again for your advice and support.

  • Help Setup home network (Motorola and Linksys)

    Hello

I need help to set up my home network, I created a diagram using gliffy.com to see my current setup.

Currently all Wi-wired computers and connect to the internet successfully, i.e. with the default settings. The only thing I've changed is the password SSID and wireless.

I need help to know the settings that I need the contribution for the Motorola and Linksys routers so that all the computers can find in the network.

I really don't know what could be the exact technical terms, but if you would like more information I can gather. Thank you!

Linksys by Cisco - Support WRT54G

Motorola SBG6580 SURFboard extreme Wireless Cable Modem Gateway

Configure the Linksys with a subnet of the modem IP... 192.168.0.10 or anything that is free... Connect the modem on the LAN of Linksys port, rather than the internet port and disable DHCP server on the linksys. You will need to renew the ip address of the clients that are connected to the linksys, but then they will get dhcp from the modem and everything will be on the same network.

  • 4402 WLC and WCS

    Hi all

We have 3 WLC 4402 all with identical config and we use Lobby Admin to create guest accounts.

Problem with this is that the guest account must be created on 3 WLC.

I installation WCS and want to know how to extract the 3 existing wlc and their config in the WCS.

Can the admin of lobbay can create accounts on the WCS and grow them into all wlc

    Hi RR,.

    >I install WCS and want to know how to extract the 3 existing wlc and their config in the WCS.

It's pretty easy. You must add a new controller via the configuration-> page controllers. The option 'Add the new controller' is in the drop-down list at the top right of the screen. You can use a list separated by commas of IP addresses to add all three at the same time. WCS audit of the controller software and get to the bottom of the config.

    >Also can the admin Hall can create accounts on the WCS and grow them into all wlc

I have not used the account Admin Hall (it is not really appropriate in the office where I work), but I know that you can create a guest account in the controller model launch pad. It is under Security in the sidebar. This model can then be applied to all three WLCs at the same time, that will simplify things. I guess you would need to make sure that your Hall administrator can access this particular part of the WCS.

    Hope that helps.

  • WAP321 VLAN and SG300 routing problem

    Hello

I have a SG300 - 28 p as a main switch. Three WAP321 APs are connected with two SSID. A primary SSID is served on VLAN 1 and a guest THAT SSID is on VLAN 2.

The SG300, I have three ports of junction for the WAP321s because they carry VLAN 1 and VLAN 2. 25 on the switch port is a port of access for VLAN 2 since the guest network is served by its own router and WAN access. The main LAN and Wireless is on the 192.168.101.x network and the network of comments (including cable) is on 192.168.24.x.

Wireless connection to the WAP321, obtain the appropriate IP addresses (DHCP is served by routers - both are RV042s). On the main network (101), I am able to ping, access to the network. On the network of comments, I'm not able to ping to the router (192.168.24.222) or the 192.168.24.254 switch. However, it is not a problem if I'm on a wired connection to the router reviews.

This makes me suspect that I missed certain routing or configuration on the SG300 for this configuration. Any advice? See the attached diagram below:

    Eugene

Eugene, I think the problem is with the AP.  This is a clear indication of the fact you are wired in and have no problems.

One thing that may be a scenario is external causes. Your computer is exclusively wireless or you have tested while wired + wireless? Have you tried with a second computer is wireless only?

If you use a computer (s) strictly wireless, the problem is with the AP and can be somehow "mask" the network devices either.

I know things like characteristic of guest network and captive portal has some mechanisms of protection because it is not about the guest to access the network devices. How is the configured access point? Everything just with 2 SSID and a username/password?

I think that it is perhaps a good idea to look at how this Approach is implemented if there is any interference from external factors.

  • Cisco 1600i and 2504 Configuration problems

    Hello guys,.

    I need serious help, please!

I'm having a devil of a problem getting my 3 device AIR-SAP-1602I-A-KP (stand-alone) to work with my WLC 2504

Cisco said that the stand-alone version will also work with the controllers, but I can't seem to join the WLC.

I can ping each AP the WLC and vice versa.

    Ideas please?

You will need to convert your APs to run IOS on controller before the APs can join the WLC.

This process is easy.  Go to Cisco's Web site and download the file with the "RRs" in the name of the file.  UN-pack TAR in the point of the file and let the AP boot this IOS and you should be fine.

  • Cisco WLC and Apple TV Hello

    Hello

I followed the guide on http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/technology/bonjour/7.5/Bonjour_Gateway_Phase-2_WLC_software_release_7.5.html on activation of Cisco WLC 7.5 with Apple TV good morning however I have a weird problem. I have some clients unable to see the apple TV connected to a different wireless access point while some may see the Apple connected TVs. I have attached my setup for reference. I would like to inquire about the use of LSS and so perhaps someone has encountered similar problems? The apple TV is discovered by the wlc on mdns-domain names.

According to the document, multicast has been activated not however the discovery of the apple tv is intermittent of apple customers. Customer can discover apple tv 1 and 3 but not apple tv 2 and sometimes it can discover all 3 apple TV while client B is able to perceive all apple TV devices 3. All 3 apple TV devices are discovered by WLC and only apple TV service has been activated on WLC.  I was wondering if anyone has seen a similar question? Not too sure what can be the cause of it?

    Any suggestion is appreciated.

Some of the docs didn't do it, but it is required as all my installation requiring Hello, set multicast implementation.

    Thank you
