WRT54G v1.1 firmware fail

I just went and updated the firmware on my wrt54gv 1.1 router and the router now goes and gives me a weird IP address, the 192.168.1.1 site is incorrect, the power LED flashes, and I reset in every way I can think of. I have downloaded the upgrade of www.linksis.com, followed all the instructions as well, and I can't help thinking that I probably killed him.

Any help or advice on how I can get the router running again would be greatly appreciated.

Dnulho

I discovered how to make so that he could go back: press reset for 30 seconds, remove and continue operation reset for 30 sec, reconnect and continue to operate reset to refresh 30 sec 192.168.1.1 and it worked.

I'm sorry to bother you

    Hi all

I tried to update my firmware for the latest and best Linksys for my router V8.2 and have some trouble. It seemed that everything was fine, but after the restart and connect to 192.168.1.1, all I get is 'Management Mode Firmware Upgrade', and he asks a file. I tried the firmware file again in this area, but it always returns just "upgrade failed" and I get nowhere.

I did some further studies in the way and tried to use the Linksys tftp tool to install the upgrade, but no luck. Beforehand, I set up the IP address of my computer and set the speed of the NIC 10 Mb half duplex. I also took a hit on the problem with tftp using the command-line of the window, but I get "timeout exceeded".

Here are the results of ping 192.168.1.1:

Ping 192.168.1.1 with 32 bytes of data:

    Ping statistics for 192.168.1.1:
    Packets: Sent = 4, received = 4, lost = 0 (0% loss),
Time approximate round trip in milli-seconds:

Does anyone have this persistant problem with their WRT54G V8.2? It's a shame how it worked so far, only to be injured by a stupid firmware update!

    Thank you

After an update of the firmware, you must reset the default router, and then configure the router again from scratch.  If you have not done this since your last update of the firmware, please do it now and see if it solves your problem.  If you have saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.

To reset the router press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now re - configure your router...

Also, make sure that your computer is configured to obtain an IP automatically, disable any firewall, the security software on the computer before you try to access the configuration page...

  • WRT54G v5.1 - firmware update

    Hello world

I have a very simple question about the update of the firmware. I have a WRT54G v5.1 Lynksys support download page and when I have to choose the correct hardware version, there is only listed v5.0.

I want to just make sure that it is compatible with my v5.1.

    Thanks in advance!

    / Sofian

    I think it is compatible.

  • WRT54G (version 2) Firmware Version Question

    Hello

Beautiful room here. I'm glad that this facility exists.

I have the router WRT54G version 2. Finally, I upgraded the version of firmware years before Cisco Linksys bought.

A recent announcement by the people of Black Hat (treaties in this article of TechSpot) about their intention to publish a validation tool to exploit a vulnerability of DNS rebinding on a great many routers SOHO forced me to check for the latest update of firmware for my router.

The interesting thing is that my router's Web interface lists the current version of the firmware as 4.30.12, but the latest version of the downloadable firmware that I see listed on the support site is 4.21.1. I'm not very surprised by this apparent anomaly. If I remember correctly, that firmware version 4.30.12 download is a beta that was supposed to fix a problem connecting WiFi to a certain type. If this version of the firmware was still considered a beta at the time of the acquisition of Linksys by Cisco - or a 'stable' later firmware version incorporating the same or better fixes for the issues addressed by 4.30.12 that had been produced at that time-so maybe 4.30.12 was ruled out.

If you read the article of TechSpot and the associated table of preliminary vulnerability, test reports, you'll see that router WRT54G version 2 is not specifically listed. Version 3 of the router is listed as vulnerable, and version 5 of the router is not.

    So, my questions are:

Everyone here is aware of information indicating whether or not the problem of DNS Rebinding vulnerability affects the WRT54G version 2 with the last registered (4.21.1) router firmware version?

If so, does anyone know if yes or no Cisco plans to release an update for this old router?

If the router is vulnerable and will not be solved with a firmware update I'll probably have myself a new LInksys router which is not listed as vulnerable. (Believe me, I'm not leaving this thread to bash Linksys. This router ran like a train of 24 hours a day for years without a single hiccup that was not directly attributable to the problems of the ISP. For the price, it's one of the best purchases of equipment I've ever done calculation. And I have done this since the beginning of the 80s when I was using a CP/M system and an Apple / / e.)

If the 4.21.1 version firmware for WRT54G version 2 is not affected, I wonder if anyone knows if yes or no 'downgrading' of 4.30.12 to 4.21.1 is likely to lead to a failure of the router. (I'll probably try it anyway. If it brick the router I'll just go ahead and get a new one.)

BTW, I use this router with the ease of remote administration and UPnP off and strong admin password that is changed each week. (When I always used wireless I used WPA2 AES with strong password, but I am all wired now with the systems running Debian testing).

Forgive me for talking to myself. I decided to just go ahead and "downgrade" of the 4.30.12 firmware 4.21.1 version - just because I prefer to use a version of firmware known and supported for this material. The downgrade has gone well, so no worries about this.

I'll look for news on whether or not this version of the firmware on this particular router is vulnerable to the flaw in DNS rebinding and acts accordingly.

    Sorry for the noise.

  • WRT310N Firmware failed and now I had a brick

Okay, first of all, it's my fault, and the router is a few years old.

I started having problems with my router disconnect and I have to restart. Today I decided to update the firmware.

Watch the Cisco site, it is said that if you don't see a version under the model number number, using the version 1.

I downloaded the firmware version 1, but after about 3 seconds after the upgrade of the router kicks back "Firmware Upgrade Failed".

Thus, suspecting that maybe I have version 2.0. I downloaded the 2.0 version and completed the upgrade. When he finished I got "Firmware Upgrade Successful" and I clicked 'OK', 'Restart', 'Reboot' or something like that was, button. Nothing, got good lights everywhere but no connection with anything either.

Tried the reset for 30 seconds, reset 30 seconds then unplug and then plug in the connection then give 30 seconds, then unplug and then plug and wait 30 seconds while holding down the reset button. I tried almost everything and nothing has restored this router.

The internet, ethernet port and wireless lights just Flash away. I even tried tftp image .bin for the router, but that has expired.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    OK, its working now.

I've done what link said to do, but because every attempt has failed, I did a reboot and that he noticed my ping was successful during the boot. I also changed my IP to 192.168.1.100 as it is the first available by default in a linksys router IP address.

I have no idea where the author of this article gets but 1.10 each new router begins at 1,100. Could be a typo.

So, the next time I tried. I started the tftp right until I plugged the router and about 10 seconds later, I saw good pings and poof a download successful.

    Router is now in action.

    Thanks for the replies.

  • WRT54G v1.0 Firmware upgrade

I'm trying to update the firmware for a WRT54G v1.0 (I think, it doesn't have a version # on the sticker).  I downloaded the firmware (through a google cache to the linksys support page cuz link is down).  I have unziped the file. I did a hard reset (60.60.60).  Then I connected to my router (admin pass so I don't know the reset worked) went to "system > Firmware update > Upgrade" opened the dialog box.  Then I bowsed to the .bin file found he opened it and clicked on 'Upgrade'... nothing has happened... waited... still nothing, no progress bar, nothing, nada, neah... whats up?

I can still access the router as usual and ect is just the dialog box upgrade that seems broken.

    So, any ideas?

  • Touchpad Firmware failed

I have a HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 CTO. Today, I decided to upgrade to windows 8.

I downloaded the Touchpad of HP and after executing Firmware update of the it, it says there is a problem while flashing the firmware. And now, as you can guess, my touchpad no longer works. I have installed 16.2.15.0 Synaptics device driver. When I try to run the Firmware update again once I get the Synaptics reflash error:

"A Synaptics Pointing device driver is necessary for flashing. "Please install a Synaptics driver version v15.1.6.0 or newer.

The touchpad does not appear in Device Manager, however, there is an unknown device and a PCI device listed in the section other devices.

I tried to reinstall the driver and everything but nothing has worked so far.

Help someone? Thanks in advance! Any suggestion is appreciated.

In fact I solved this problem by only a few minutes after this post. I didn't go into settings of windows mouse pointer and a pop-up box will appear offering me to uninstall the Synaptics driver. I have no idea how this differs manually uninstall the driver but yes click this checkbox actually solved the problem, while manual methods did not.

    Hello.

I am trying to upgrade the firmware on my WRT310N v1.00.4 - CA to the latest version available on the Web site, v1.0.07 build 14. But, every time I try and update the firmware, it gets 98% done and it remains fair to 98%. I left it sitting as this night, but it never ends. I tried several times, but always, it hangs at 98%.

Someone has any idea how to get around this?

  • WRT54G v3.1 (firmware v4.21.1) is not route packets between interfaces

I am at a loss, because it seems that I'm really close to having my small network of installation works, except my router linksys faithful does not seem to be interested in packages of brewing between the WAN and WLAN interfaces.

    Background:

I just moved into a new House, AT & T U-verse is taking their sweet time thought of digging a trench, so I have no wired internet, but I have a phone with 4G support that I can use as a hotspot Wi - Fi (high-end and very limited functionality).

My goal is to rebuild my local network (two servers by cable, half a dozen various wireless devices), using my WRT54G as the central routing for her component.

    Plan:

    1. install a wireless bridge that connects to the Wifi 4 G hotspot.

    2. connect ZyXel bridge to the WAN port on the WRT54G

    3. connect and other devices in LAN WRT54G and wireless interfaces.

    Results:

    1. I got a ZyXel WAP3205 to this effect, and it seems to work fine (when connected to PC, PC is to get internet access through it perfectly.)

2 seems to work fine. the linksys router is able to obtain an IP address on DHCP 4G Wifi hotspot (the Zyxel will exercise a passthrough.) The admin/diagnosis tab let me DNS resolve/ping/traceroute arbitrary sites on the internet.

3 is not happy. I am able to access the router admin page. I can ping the router from any of my devices to end IP addresses, but nothing goes further. I can not ping IP of 4G Wifi hotspot for example (but I do go in the WRT diagnostic tools)

    Details of config:

-4G - Wifi hotspot is configured as a DHCP/Gateway server. His IP address is defined as 10.10.10.1, subnet 255.255.255.0, assignment of IP addresses between 10.10.10.2 - 10.10.10.254

-WRT router is configured as a DHCP/Gateway server as well. Its local IP address is set as 192.168.1.1, subnet 255.255.255.0, IPs assignments between 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.51.

-All the rest is to default settings. Mode of operation is the gateway, routing table is showing

Destination LAN IP.  Subnet mask |  Entry door |  Hop count | Interface

    192.168.1.0. 255.255.255.0. 0.0.0.0. 0           | Wireless LAN &

    10.10.10.0 | 255.255.255.0. 0.0.0.0. 0           | WAN (Internet)

    0.0.0.0             | 0.0.0.0. 10.10.10.1. 0           | WAN (Internet)

    This seems reasonable.

-Status/router tab displays an IP WAN address 10.10.10.172, subnet 255.255.255.0, gateway 10.10.10.1, DNS1 10.10.10.1, which looks very good as well.

I tried to adjust various settings on the router (gateway in router mode switching, disable DHCP and manually configure IP addresses), but nothing seems to convince the router to start, you know, routing of packets autour.

I hope I'm missing something stupid here, and I'll be grateful for any help and judgment on this.

    Thank you

    Henri

    * Edit: I should add, I use this little guy for years previous houses, and it has always worked, even if its WAN port was always plugged into a modem cable of some sort. So I don't think that the WRT54G is likely to be broken or defective.

    Sonuva...

Apparently, the little box just need a fast walk. After a factory reset and set my wireless settings screw, it seems to work perfectly.

Well, I think that I'm talking to myself now.

Just for fun, here is the great link, I'll be sharing between devices 8 or 9:

(which is through my whole setup, even if the speed is exactly the same thing with a direct link.)

  • WRT54G ver.2 Firmware Version: v4.21.1 - cannot connect wireless

    Hello

These days I could not connect to my wireless network.  I have 1 office, cable that connects no problem.  2 laptops (win xp) that can both see the network at full power, but I am unable to connect.  I just get the dialog box "until the network... "and then it expires later on two laptops. I have reset the router, updated firmware, disabled the secutiry everything tried but nothing works.  I am able to connect to other networks in my apt complex, so I guess my laptops aren't the issue and that its my router.  again, it was something just all of a sudden, after no change in one of my installation.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Jason

After an update of the firmware did you reset your router and reconfigure all the settings on it again? If this isn't the case, then press in and hold the reset for 30 seconds button... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now re - configure your router...

Here is the wireless settings that you can configure your router, and I think that should solve your problem.

When you connect to the router configuration page, click on the Wireless tab

-Wireless network mode must be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the name box of the wireless network (SSID) in order to differentiate your network from your network of neighbors...
-Set the channel 11-2 wireless, 462 GHz... Wireless SSID broadcast should be enabled and then click on save settings...
Please take note of the name of the wireless network (SSID) because it's the network identifier...

    For wireless security: -.
Click the sub-tab under wireless > Wireless Security...

Change the mode of WPA wireless security, encryption, select TKIP. Password input your desired WPA key. For example, MySecretKey, this will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and do not forget the key.

NOTE: The password must be more than 8 characters...

    Click the settings advanced wireless

Change the tag to 75 interval, change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304, change the RTS threshold to 2304 and click on save settings...

Now let's see if you can locate your wireless network and try to connect...

  • WRT54GS with the wrong firmware update

    Hi Experts,

I stupidly updated to a bad firmware. Instead of the firmware for the WTRG54GS I've updated my WRT54GS with the firmware for the WRT45G. :-(

The router is accessible by the intellectual property and this firmware works on my router.

But after this accident, my router does not update the firmware on the right.

On the Web interface, I get when the firmware upgrade, the following message appears:

    "Upgrade are failed"

With TFTP, I get the message "bad boss".

Someone has an idea of what I can do to update the firmware on the right? I need the firmware just because my WRE54G rangeexpander unable to connect to my router because I made this mistake.

    Higgy

Try the downgrade the firmware with a older version if it works, then upgrade to the latest version. You can find them here.
