wrt54g2v1

I had my router set in place by linksys for $9, and it worked fine.  Then, I bought a HP printer with capbalitilies wireless. I connected the cable to the printer and then to the router wireless, and now it does not work.  I ran the problem solver and got the ANS 2 units are to be done at the same address. I'm assuming that computer and printer. How can we separate the printer from the computer? I think I'm getting 2 old for technology.

I think that you have the settings as SSID(network name) and network key/password wireless

On your wireless printer, you must manually enter the wireless settings through the dashboard and then your wireless printer can connect to your network.

  • WRT54G2v1 - can't change from WEP to WPA2-Personal or Devil WPS

Hello.  I have a router WRT54G2v1.  I set up WEP with a couple of years.  However, I want to go with WPA2-Personal for greater security.  I tried to change the WEP setting by choosing WPA2 I want in the drop-down list existing wireless > Wireless Security in the router configuration window accessed via my browser.  Immediately after that, I get the following message appears with the options "OK" and "Cancel".  The message is this:

It will stop WPS WI - FI protected setup is not compatible WEP/WPA/WPAZ-company/Radius

If I say 'OK', I do not then get to select something from the menu drop down.  I find myself immediately with the message each time.

If I go into the basic settings and attempt to adjust the configuration wireless on "Manual" of the current value of "Wi - Fi Protected Setup", I get the following message (with the same options as above).  The selection of "Manual" returns immediately at the same time, thus denying me to change the setting.

Wi - Fi Protected Setup does not support WEP/WPA/WPA2-Enterprise/RADIUS. Please use WPA/WPA2-Personal.

So, I seem to be able to change the setting to WPA2 in WEP (or change to disabling WPS also).  Any thoughts on what is happening?  TIA.

Hi brianborutoo. Perform a factory reset by pressing the reset button on your router for 30 seconds. Be sure to saw this power will blink to make sure that the reset was successful.  After that, powercycle your router for a minute. Try if it works. You try to browse another or another computer for insulation.

    Hi all

I'm a poster for the first time on the forums. I tried to search, but without success. If anyone can point me to a thread that answers my question, I would be happy to put an end to this thread and go to this one.

My question is, I have the router mentioned in the subject line and I noticed that the logging is very basic and limited. Does anyone know of a free recording software that works with this model of router that is documented? Specifically, I want to capture activity on Port 80. I don't really like on other ports. The purpose of my children are now in their teens and started high school and I would have an idea wherever they visit. I know that most of the sites we are pretty open on Internet usage, but I worry that they could potentially be sent to sites that they are "embarrassed" to admit, and likely to lead to bad things.

Please read and reply if you can help.

Try this site and I think that this software will solve your purpose.

  • Internet problems WRT54G2V1 computer and printer/2

    Hello world

I am at my wits end here, I have been playing with a new printer for the last 8 hours and hopefully someone will have some suggestions.

This morning, I bought a HP J6480 AIO printer.  I have a gateway laptop (vista) and a dell laptop (xp). I could not the dell connect/recognize the printer, but the front door recognized instantly, wirelessly printed, etc.. Trying to hang on the second computer, internet came out. I finally called linksys tech support, we got everything up and running - wise internet - but neither laptop was connected to the printer.  I just got the dell connected to the printer for the first time and now I can't the gateway on the internet.  Connect wirelessly to the router, it is connected with limited access.  Sometimes it says it is connected to my network, other times it is said 'unidentified network' and there's always the yellow triangle with the! mark on the icon inside two computer.  I tried calling linksys but put me on hold and decided to try here.

I want to use my WRT45G2 router to wirelessly access the internet and the printer since the two laptops. It won't fly if I have to reset the router after every time I have to use the printer, but the whole point to get this one was the wireless option.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thank you!

    1. You must configure your wireless and wireless on your router security.  You must give your network a name usnique so that you connect to the correct network.
    2. You must configure your working groups in your computers.  They must be on the same workgroup.  Once this is configured, you should see two network on Vista computers and discovered computers in the workgroup under XP.
    3. Install your printer by following all the steps in the HP wireless configuration guide.  If you do not have the guide download from the HP Web site.
    4. You should see your computers and printers in the DHCP in your router table once everything is connected properly.
  • Firmware WRT150N problem

Hello, please someone help me! The power led on my wireless router is flashing and I can't access the internet. The research I've done, I think that my firmware is either corrupted or it needs to be upgraded. I tried a hard reset on my router several times and nothing helps. I downloaded the update of the firmware of Ecritel.net. And I saw where I download tftp.exe from the website of linksys, but for some reason that I can't get it. Y at - there another program I can use? I tried tftp download another program, but I have no idea how to use it or what to do to get my router up and running. I tried the doin a ping on the router (specify a static ip address) and I get this, but any time that I try to connect to the internet it used. Any suggestions?

You can also try to use a utility to update firmware on the router without the need for the browser.

    Download the utility here: ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/WRT54G2V1%20Flashing/tftp.exe

Save and run and find the .bin and upgrade file. Once successful, try to reopen the page of the router.

You can wait for your update.

  • Signature problems, the wireless router.

I have a problem of signing on the internet through a Linksys WRT54G2V1 wireless router model. I use Windows Vista Service Pack 2. When I start my computer, it is not the sign on the internet, even if it is connected to the wireless router. Address ip/4 shows 169.254.42.23. After I unplug the router for 20 seconds and then plug it in again, my computer will sign it on the internet. 192.168.1.100 is the ip/4 address. In the meantime, my wife's computer has no problem signing on the internet via the wireless router. When I start my computer, it uses the address 169.254. He has only started to do this recently. What should I do to fix my sign on the problem?

    Hello

Did you make any changes before the show?
    Method 1:

You can see the following link.

Windows wireless and wired network connection problems

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/help/wired-and-wireless-network-connection-problems-in-Windows

    Method 2:
You can try to disable temporary Windows Firewall and check. Check out the following link.
    Enable or disable Windows Firewall
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off
NOTE: turning off Windows Firewall may make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage caused by worms or hackers.
    Method 3:
You can try resetting the TCP/IP stack.
To reset the stack TCP/IP go to this article and either click on "Fix it for me" or follow the instructions yourself.

  • WRT54G2 slows down the internet connection

    Hello.

Somehow, my WRT54G2 router slows down my internet connection. My PC is connected by cable and I cannot watch youtube videos and gave to wait fo 20 seconds for gmail to load up. If I connect the PC to the modem directly then everything works fine. Reset to the default router configuration solves the problem for a few weeks, but this solution is quite annoying. Is there another way to solve this problem once and for all?

    Thnx.

In the latest version of firmware notes, it is written:

-updated with the patch to solve the problems of ping

I'll try to update my routers firmware now, if this will fix my problem, I probably won't respond to this thread more.

  • The firmware Linksys WRT54G2 page links?

I recently had problems with my router wireless wrt54g2 v1.0, remove client computer wireless connections. In an effort to solve the problem, I went to get an update the firmware here:

    http://www.linksysbycisco.com/us/en/support/WRT54G2/download

Who created another problem. Firmware version 1.5 and 1.0 firmware have almost the same download link on this page as well:

    http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/FW_WRT54G2V1.5_1.5.00.019_US_20090505, 0.bin

    http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/WRT54G2V1.5_1.5.00.019_FwReleaseNotes, 0.txt

    http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/FW_WRT54G2V1.5_1.5.00.019_US_20090505.bin

    http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/WRT54G2V1.5_1.5.00.019_FwReleaseNotes.txt

I figured this out the hard way after I've tried and failed to update my firmware.

I've since found a link to an another firmware update, which is slightly newer than the one I had before. I found it here:

    http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/FW_WRT54G2V1_1.0.03.001_US_20090317.bin

There is no note of version that I could find.

    My questions, I guess, are;

    (1) is there any other firmware releass for my wireless router that are newer still?

    (2) if not, is there a way I can get the v1.5 firmware to work? TFTP and the web interface of the router to refuse this file that will be used to replace the current firmware.

    (3) in the absence of a solution in response to the foregoing, is there a solution that would allow my PC wireless client can reconnect to the wireless network after letting kickoff fall? Usually, they stay connected and will work perfectly for 20-36 hours, or should I say they can connect to the network without wire in this interval of time, but after that, if they are connected and get started, I can't their reconnected unless I have reset the router. Renewing the IPs on the client side does not work.

I got the router using static and assigned by DHCP IP addresses and both with and without the wireless security is enabled (the nearest wireless AP is 7 miles away so I really didn't need the security anyway).

Nothing of what I've done so far has solved my problem.

    Can anyone help?

Hi Ricewind, first off let me say thank you for the answer.

Then, let me say I think I've missed to erase me, so I'll try again.

The firmware for my router wrt54g2 v1.0, on the Web site is not good firmware. I repeat that this does not work for my version, version 1.0, the router. I downloaded and tried. It does not work via the web interface or it works using the tftp interface.

Here is a link to the page of my router:

    http://www.linksysbycisco.com/us/en/support/WRT54G2/download

The link to download the firmware on my router is not correct. It points to the same folder as the firmware to version 1.5.

    Version 1.5:

    http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/FW_WRT54G2V1.5_1.5.00.019_US_20090505, 0.bin

The unusable firmware to Version 1.0:

    http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/FW_WRT54G2V1.5_1.5.00.019_US_20090505.bin

Someone needs to change the link to the Version 1.0 firmware file to point to a file that can actually be used to update the firmware of the router.

    PS,

I could use this file to update my firmware:

    http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/FW_WRT54G2V1_1.0.03.001_US_20090317.bin

But this file does not appear in, anywhere on the support page for the wrt54g2 for any version of the router.

    I hope this helps.
