WRT54GH dyndns problem

Hello. using nine WRT54GH here. When the pppoe lease expires, the router is not updated my dyndns account. Whenever I try to open the web interface of the router it updated immediately.

Never had this problem with the wrt54gl or other routers in the past.

The wan port on the router is connected to the modem Huawei HG850/terminal (optical fiber) but he eastablishes pppoe connection without problem. Only some dyndns is bug.

With the help of that and only firmware available.

Try to reflash the firmware on the router. After flashing the firmware reset the router and re - configures the router from scratch...

    Hi guys,.

I have a weird problem on an IOS router.

I need to implement IPSec VPN L2L.

    Hi Smailmilak83,

Configuration of a static encryption with a specific peer card creates a society of surveillance for the peer. Dns lookup he's now only the first time, he tries to connect, after which it's just going to be her generate a new key. If she would ideally use the value peer in the his and not the config or a dns lookup. So, it is wise to use a dynamic encryption card.

Please try to use a dynamic encryption instead of a static map. Although there are some limitations including crypto being initiated only at the other end, we can work around keeping the tunnel directly.

    Hope that helps.

    Steps to reproduce:

    ===============

    1. enable remote management

    2 Configure DDNS (fe. DynDNS.org)

    3. try to connect to the router using the DDNS name, not IP

-Online web browser will go to an infinite loop of disconecting/connection to the router

4 detect the IP address of the router assigned the DDNS name (using the command nslookup fe.)

    5. try to connect to the router using detected IP address, DDNS name no

    -online connection successfully established

I use 3 different linksys to cisco routers, but only with WAS120N, I have such a problem. Is there any bugtrack system where I can log a bug on this issue?

Yes, I tried. I see that there is a new version that was released after my message from the forum. I can see that this one has been fixed in the release notes (* happy *). Going to try it...

  • Firmware WRT54GH

I spent a time looong on Cisco's Web site looking for the firmware for the WRT54GH.  When I click on the tab download - NO firmware or manuals are listed!  Nada! Zilch!

The problem: my router seems to not be broadcasting my SSID.  I restarted it and still no joy.  I did a Factory Reset and re-entered manually all my settings - still no joy.  So I guess the next logical step is to re-flashing the firmware - but I can't find!

When I try to log-in to "Live Chat" no "list of countries" doesn't appear in the drop-down list box - it is completely empty.  Is the same for the field after (I forgot what his name)-just a drop-down list box empty.  They are mandatory fields, so I'm stumped.

So I'm here looking for help from the community.  Again, my question is: where can I find the download of the firmware on my router?  I'll be very grateful if someone could post a link for me.

    Thank you!

You need to perform an Internet search for the firmware.

  • E4200 causing DynDNS abuse

I just install my new E4200 yesterday and today I received and email saying that my account has been banned do abuse. Probably more update. I know that's not the routers multiple update causes the old one is sitting in front of me and is disconnected.

I can only assume the E4200, update frequency is high, but there is no way to adjust it. Also, there is no firmware updates.

Anyone who has another experencing this?

Well after spending a good half hour arguing with a first level tech and then in now for 20-30 minutes, I was finally able to talk to a technician.   I have to give him credit.   My experience with outsourced support is usually pretty bad (like this until I talk to him about high technology).    To and its Linksys credit, he took the time to listen to me and did some research online of his own.   After having done a bit of work, he told me something that has not been mentioned here.   If you have active DDNS server, every time you click on save settings button on ANY page of the router GUI, it updates all settings - which includes the re-update DynDNS even if the IP address has not changed.  Routers from series 54 G/L did not do that.   Given the equivocation, that I have done with this thing in the last days (playing with the NAS function), I saved the settings MUCH.  So if what he says is true, it could explain the DynDNS blocks that I receive.

I now have a file number, and tonight, we are trying experience.   I locked parameters from 19:00, and let stand overnight.   It has been almost 4 hours and DynDNS has not been updated - and more important, I have not been blocked.   There has been speculation that the unit is updated when the lease of 6 hours runs, and if this is the case, I should be able to see.   If I make it through the night without updates or get blocked, I think I'll be pretty confident that the problem is understood.   If this is the case, I'll just make sure that I disable the DDNS client whenever I'm fiddling.

If I'm stuck overnight, the tech asked me to call back with the file number and it will open a bug report.

Just thought you want to know everything.

  • Cascade and its effect on DynDNS?

OK, so for several months, I had a NSLU2 in a DMZ if I could get there by DynDNS and it was functioning 100%.

I added a cascaded router and other NSLU2 downstairs to develop capabilities and features of my network home.

I moved the "public" folder on the second (new) NSLU2 and adjusted the DMZ address in the main router in order to take account of the new NSLU2.

The new NSLU2 is physically connected to the wrt54g (secondary) (operation in router mode, according to the waterfall in the linksys forums), but I can't reach it by dyndns.

I have reset the demilitarized zone in the original location (first NSLU2), and it still works.

So, the problem is that I can not knock the new NSLU2 to DMZ. What should I do for the second router to allow traffic coming to it.

The second NSLU2 IP is listed in the DMZ on both routers. I have tried establishing a route in the main router, did not work. So, how to fix?

Too bad. It was a PEBKAC.

    Yo soy estupido!

  • WRT610N home network problems

Hello, my network is not working properly at home.  Computers communicate with each other and I can't save on my NAS.  I think that there is a problem with administrators and/or the useres, but I have no idea.  This is the upward.  I'd appreciate any help that anyone can give me.

(Wireless) LAPTOP running XP SP3.  DESKTOP computer running Windows 2000.  Western Digital MY BOOK (1 TB, call the BIG HD) connected to the WRT610N for NAS.  Western Digital MY BOOK (500 GB, call LITTLE HD) connected directly to the DESKTOP and shared with EVERYONE.  Computers and the router are assigned to the 'HOME' network  All IP addresses are static.  All firewalls have other computers IP Allow or FULL TRUST.  Before adding the WRT610N computers are networked and two external drives we connected to the DEKSTOP and everything worked great using a wrt54g.  The two external HDs were shared and I could read/write in everything on a hard drive of computers.   I could save the laptop via Norton 360 on each disc. Only problem was the speed and I wanted the SIN for the DLNA media service. Since then, I installed the WRT610N and connected to it the BIG HD for the uses mentioned previously.  There are a couple of different issues going on that I can't understand.

First of all, DESKTOP does not see other computers in the HOME network.  It is always assigned to the HOME network.  Trying to view other computers in the HOME network, that the DESKTOP appears.

Laptop will show the WRT610N and the OFFICE of the HOME network.  Laptop will be connect/read/write to the BIG HD on the WRT610N. Laptop has no permission to access OFFICE. So I can't go to the SMALL HD on the DESKTOP via laptop.

This is where it gets really strange.  When you back up PORTABLE HD GRAND via Norton 360, the backup fails after 832 files.  After the backup fails, laptop no longer has permision to access the BIG HD.  Laptop can no longer open WRT610N of icon in the HOME network either.  Does not have permission.  Also, if I try to click the icon for the WRT610N on the HOME network or the icon for the mapped HD BIG in my computer, the wireless signal is de-energized and resets the WRT610.  Laptop gets all rights, and permisions on WRT610N back after restarting the laptop.

Before attempting the back upward, I made the BIG HD available via FTP and www.dyndns.com.  It worked, I could remotely to the BIG HD from other computers via internet.  Then after that the BACKUP failed, I got an email from dyndns.com saying that my host name has been blocked.  Dyndns.com, three reasons for blocking are ' updates to your client on an interval (e.g. hourly), your client is defective (e.g. flooding), you run several clients. "  I don't know why mine failed, but he did about the same time, I ran back upward.  I know that I don't have muliple customers.  It is the only host name or service or what I use with dyndns.com.  I sent without changing anything on the WRT610N, dyndns.com, asked to be unblocked, and they unlocked my hostname. Have not been blocked since then, but I have not tried a return to the top since I unlocked yesterday.

It's the last symptom.  In my HD GRAND, all users and "S-1-5-21-789336058-329068152-725345543-5703" are listed as users.  I understand that the long alphanumeric user can be the WRT610N.  I didn't create it and I can't remove it.  I don't know if this user is on the SMALL HD.

So, how can I get the DESKTOP on the HOME network?  How can I get the LAPTOP and the DESKTOP sharing?  How can I get the LAPTOP to save BIG HD without dropping out and having to restart the laptop (can't get a full backup now)?  This is a problem of 'property' on which device has the HOME network.  I know initially (WRT54G days) I have everything set up by the OFFICE.  It now appears that the property could be made through the WRT610N.  EVERYONE is allowed on each disc shared in the HOME network.  All drives and shared folders have different names.  All the problems occur with all security and firewalls as well off.  I already flashed the firmware and power cycled the WRT610N about 30 times over the 3 months because of the attempts to connect the two HDs at the same time.  The WRT610N seems to be stable except to drop the connection after 832 files during back upward.

    Can someone help me please?

As you mentioned that all computers are in the same workgroup. Thing you need to check, on your desktop, open the window prompt commands and ping your IP of your laptop and check if you get all the answers, if you are getting answered, on your desktop, click Start - RUN - "\\Laptop IP" and click OK... and it will show you the folder list or the drivers that you have shared on your laptop , Just right-click on it and select 'Map network drive' and below check "Reconnect to the connection" and click Finish. It will be the card your laptop computer drivers shared on your desktop and you should be able to transfer the files from your desktop to the laptop.

When you ping your laptop from your desktop computer are we can't get an answer, then you can try to disable the firewall and Antivirus on your computer.

Your router has changed the MTU size to 1300 and click on save settings... That does not solve the problem even if you transfer files from your desktop / laptop computer on the NAS.

  • Error FTP WRT54GH 425

I've been running a FTP FileZilla Server for more than 2 years now. When I arrived in FTPs was actually the first time I had to port forwarding. External router forward 21 TCP 21 on the LAN, everything was good, FTP works. A few days ago the old router died, and to get a new one, I went for a WRT54GH. When I put in place I have also made sure to forward port 21 to the machine. Now, I try to access the FTP and after a long wait, I get an error 425 unable to open data connection.

I double checked and checked - is not only the port properly transmitted, but FileZilla actually gets the request and the two negotiate a bit. Since I change anything in the FTP and FTP still works fine on the LAN IPs I will of course blame the router!

What should I do and how can I solve this problem?

I do usually not reproduced but I fixed it and I leave this info here for future reference to others:

It seems that - at least with the first version of the firmware - router alters network packets if she sees they are sent on port 21. He changes IPs their LAN PASV commands, which connecting clients cannot work with. In addition it seems that some other obscure port opening the issue once the connection is established.

In order to circumvent the arbitrary conversion of NAT on the router, you must forward external port 21 to some other internal ports, for example 12345. The FTP server on the computer must be configured to listen on this port. This will get around the NAT issue.

For the second question, the server PASV mode must be given a range of fixed ports, for example 65000 to 65100, and in turn these ports should be sent to the FTP hosting machine in the settings of the router.

-Important set of notes on one or more ports forward!

Ports passed before changing the address LAN IP (e.g. 192.168.1.x to 192.168.0.x) range MUST be disabled, saved and re-checked, otherwise the rules no longer works! In addition, if the SPI Firewall settings are changed in any way, all ports beaches (beaches, ports not only) MUST be disabled, saved and checked in order to work! Yet another note, DMZ seems to have similar problems. Not knowing this topic can lead to unexpected with the implementation results not only the FTP, but also other applications that rely on shipping, because the router will claim a set of settings, but do not use it.

  • Problem with Remote Desktop using router WRT54GC

    Hi all.

My husband and I travel with a computer and an iPhone each, so 4 wireless devices, when we travel, we use the WRT54GC to connect to DSL or broadband from the hotel and then create a LAN in the room using the WRT54GC so we can connect all our devices through the router to the internet.

    Key steps are:

    (1) connect to the router from the hotel to rent a computers IP address.

    (2) do an ipconfig to get the IP address leased the hotel, over the subnet, DNS servers, etc.

    (3) hook a computer into the WRT54GC and give him the IP address and other parameters and clone the IP address of the original computer used to connect to the hotel so that the hotel think that our WRT54GC is the same device.

    (4) connect the router to the wall to talk to the router of the hotel and to connect our devices on wifi LAN created by the WRT54GC and we're good to go.

Everything works very well and always, but with one exception: we normally use connection software Office Microsoft standard to logon remotely to our computers at home.  We use dyndns to update the IP address of the computer and were marketed in the House so that each computer is accessed through our home router when a query of the DRC between the use of this port forwarding port.

However, all of a sudden we cannot Remote Desktop our personal computers through the WRT54GC.

If we put the original computer used to access the router from the hotel directly to the connection to the local network, then there is no problem and that computer can successfully remote desktop, but once we put the router in the equation, we cannot do.

Any thoughts?  It's certainly something about the configuration of the router, but I checked the firewall and DNS, and those who are not suspects.  The router configuration has not changed in recent years and has always worked previously.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks for the tip!

We have recently started using logmein.com.  There is no charge for simple remote desktop, but the monitor resize and things is easier with it as the version of Microsoft, and for a small fee, you can activate on the management of files, allowing you to do things like file transfer between your home and remote computers easily.  I had tried to do in the past using DRC and it was too slow, but not also with logmein.com.

That's why we have not been totally freak out the problem, because we had a backup solution with this product, but my husband has a phone in his office, he can connect to while overseas to make calls since in Australia (where we live) while he gets a charge local calls only, and it does not work with logmein , that is why we must get Microsoft DRC will once again!

In any case, we use dyndns to administer a dynamic update of our IP address for our home router, is to make our computers at home and in a last ditch effort, I had a look at our account and re-joined our IP against our dynamic naming.  Hop, DRC said work again after that.

It is most strange, because the IP listed was the good IP, but somehow it seemed temporarily do not resolve correctly.

In any case, it's all fixed.

At least, it was pretty obvious that it was something somewhere between the router and the House, because of the way he acted. It's usually pretty obvious when your home network has fallen... we knew that is that since we could communicate by other means.

Thanks for the tip on the other remote tools.  I will certainly check.  There is never too much!

  • WRT54GH will not show wireless! Help!

    Hello to you all,.

I have a serious problem with this template WRT54GH.

It is configured with automatic DHCP, plugged into a DSL cable modem to use on a Mac OS 10.6.6 and Win7.

I used the connection wireless with no problems until today. Suddenly it will not broadcast my connection Wireless by all means!

I have already created a new connection, tried multiple SSID, passed to B, G, I tried WEP, WPA, different channels, even with the SSID broadcast enabled/disabled and I cannot find the router on any computer.

I already updated the firmware, reboot the router to the factory settings and tried every tip on the support of Cisco, Google and always avaiable not game.

The ethernet cable works perfectly, from where I am accessing internet now, but I guess that's not the proper use of a wireless router...

Can anyone help me on this issue?

    Thank you!

    Dushyant salvation,

    • You have security software installed on the computer?
    • Since when are you facing this problem?
    • You did changes to the computer before this problem started?

Before solving the problem, I suggest to create a system manually, Restore Point so that in this case, a problem occurs when performing these steps, you can always perform a system restore.

    Step 1

Uninstall Windows Mobile device under Windows Vista programs and features. Access the link below and follow the steps in the article to uninstall the program.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/uninstall-or-change-a-program

    Step 2

Follow the steps below only once you have backed up the registry.

    a. Click Start, in the search box of start, type regedit and press ENTER.

    b. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

    c. in the navigation pane, locate the following registry subkey:

    d. in the registry editor, navigate to the following location: HKEYCURRENTUSER > SOFTWARE > MICROSOFT > WINDOWS CE SERVICES > PARTNERS

    e. check the keys referencing your mobile device and right-click on it and remove the keys.

Note: The problem may occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, follow the steps in the link below:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/322756

    Step 3

Restart the computer and download the Windows Mobile device Center on your computer the link below and install it and check if it works fine without any errors.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/Microsoft/Device-Center-download.mspx

You can also uninstall and reinstallDynDNS Updator 4.1.6 program and check if it works very well.

I hope this helps. Let us know the results.

  • Leave the connection due to release/renew IP address problem

Hi there - I have an Inspiron 23 model 5348, connected to a router of the BT Home Hub 5 running Windows 8.1. Whenever I wake the computer from sleep mode and often even to start it upward, that I have no internet connection. I have release/renew the IP address, and the connection is re-established for a period of time.

This happens on my inspiron wired or wireless connected. I updated the router, changed the wires, reinstalled the drivers for network devices, changed the term of the lease on the router for 21 days and used a static IP address, bit, nothing seems to work.

It only occurs on the Inspiron. None of my other devices give up their connection.

Any ideas what is the cause?

For anyone else having this problem this page should sort
