WSN and PTC

These wireless sensors are great and now I am trying to find different application uses for them. Is is possible to get the sensors using the touch panels... more precisely the TPC-2106

Thank you

Hi JChec,

I'm glad you like the new WSN measurement nodes.

Yes, you can access the IO of WSN on a TCP. The I/O variables that are used to I/O read/write are supported on Windows CE and Windows XPe.

The only thing that probably will not work on Windows CE are the screws to host WSN, which are used to send and receive messages from the string-based user. If you need support for this or other advanced features of LabVIEW, the most recent PPV running XPe pretty much full desktop offers support for LabVIEW.

What do you use WSN nodes for currently?

  • USRP can be used as a gateway for NOR-WSN nodes

    Hello world

I use NEITHER-WSN kIT includes a gateway (9792) and of the NODES(3202,3212,3226 all programmable) NOR-WSN and I also try experiments with NOR-USRP 2921, so I thought to replace NOR-USRP 2921 of GATEWAY ETHERNET of NOR-9792 TIME REAL as it also works on the same 2.4 GHz.

USRP 2921 can act as a bridge or not? This is possible, please suggest.

    Best regards,

    Afonso Sharma

    The short answer is no.

The longer answer is that a WSN node uses a radio of fixed function with a full protocol stack.  The USRP is a generalist radio which covers a set of common frequencies, but there is no such thing as a fully functional turnkey battery.  It could be designed?  Maybe during many years-men targeted development.

The USRP is mainly used as a search feature.  Most of the research implements a small aspect of a Protocol, ususally focus on the physical or the MAC layer, then it customizes and evaluates the results.

The right solution for WSN is a WSN gateway.

  • LV 2011 development environment and prompt to install the fix for LV 2012 RT Module f1?

I have a LV 2011 development environment configuration, including RT I get a message that there is an urgent fix for RT 2012 LV available; See attachment.  This machine of development must remain the LV 2011; This patch must be installed?  Thank you.

    Matt

As stated in the notification message, you see this update because you probably have another component which released LabVIEW RT 2012 - NOR-RIO 12.0, WSN 1.4 or Fieldpoint 6.0.11.  It was to fix a specific problem in 2012 of LabVIEW, which hit the RT, so if you haven't installed LabVIEW 2012 then the patch will be neither harmful nor helpful to you; However, files of Framework Setup OR RIO, WSN and Fieldpoint for RT should be updated to be compatible with changes in LabVIEW (and so you probably installed component that has an update is available, even if 2012 LabVIEW itself is not installed).

  • 9792 Configuration Error OR

    Hello
I am a new Member on these forums, I need help with the configuration of the gateway NI 9792.
First of all, my gateway powered and not in secure mode, the status light will blink twice, I read the factsheet, which implies that the gateway software has an error. Not how to fix the error.
I managed to configure the IP address of the gateway, but the device is not recognized on remote systems. I use the Ethernet 1 port for these tests.

If someone could help me with this problem please.

    Thank you for your attention.

    Hello there;

Therefore the NI 9792 is a remote controller; It will blink twice because that there is no software installed in the system, I recommend to format, set a static ip address, and then install the appropriate software. Don't forget that when you change address IP your PC must be in the same subnet as the device of the RT and you do you need to connect using a crossover cable.

In order to start using it, it must follow the following process:

0 check that you installed LabVIEW, NI WSN and LabVIEW RT in your computer

    1. make sure that all the DIP switches on your CompactRIO controller are in the OFF position.

For DIP switch that switches from left to right, put it on the OFF side.

2 disable network interfaces secondary, such as card access wireless on a laptop computer and disable your firewall

    3. set the DIP switch; Safe Mode, IP Reset and No App to position IT and restart the device

    4. Expand remote systems

5 right-click the NI 9792 and select format the drive. This will define the IP address of 0.0.0.0 and formats throughout the system, it may take a few minutes until what you see under devices and interfaces.

    6. change the device IP address to static and the IP address you of the PC to get on the same network. (Control Panel > Network & Sharing Center > Local Area Connection > properties > Internet Protocol Version 4 > properties > set an IP address and the subnet.) Don't forget to put all dip switches to OFF

7 install the software. Expand the CompactRIO item under remote systems, right-click on the element of software and select Add/Remove programs. Under the version in time real LabVIEW you want, select the OR RIO set currently installed on the development computer. Select the set Add ons software you want to install. Support NI Scan Engine can be selected from this menu.

There is a guide for the cRIO here, it works exactly in the same

    Good luck

  • How can I get the CompactRIO 9074 to communicate with TPC-2206 using variables of network?

    Hello
I have trouble getting the Rio Compact to connect with my touch screen. The goal is to have the CRIO read in data values, update as network variables and then send them to the touch screen where they are displayed. I used the Distributed System Manager to verify that the CRIO updates the network variables.  I also created alias for the CRIO and PTC files to ensure they have the necessary IP addresses included.  I am able to PING the CRIO of the touch screen, so I don't think it's a problem of network connection. This leads me to believe that the CRIO works properly, hosts the variable library and broadcast on the network, but for some reason the touch panel knows not how to retrieve variables.  I have also noticed that when you change the "Properties" of the executable of touch panel, if the "Shared Variable deployment" section contains a box to checked then result is a mistake trying to "run" the executable file on the touchscreen, however if the box is left then repressed the executable runs without error. He still does not update the values of the CRIO however.
I don't know what else to try, any help/ideas would be really appreciated!
    Thank you

    Equipment I use:
PTC 2206 touch (Windows XP Embedded)
    CompactRIO 9074
    LabVIEW 2010

Problem solved, thank you for your help!

For anyone else having this problem in the future:

As stated previously, the TPC2206 (touch screen) with Windows XP Embedded does not come with the support of shared variable engine installed.  To resolve this problem, I went to NI.com, typed in "LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 2010" in the search box (if you are using another version of LabVIEW, then find accordingly) and clicked on the second link "LabVIEW Run - Time Engine 2010 - (32-bit Standard RTE) - Windows 7/7 64 bit/Server 2003 R2 (32-bit) / XP/Vista/Vista x 64/Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)" "» downloaded, place the file on a USB key (my touch screen is not connected to the internet), connected to the touchscreen, installed the file and restarted the touch screen.

  • I want to choose the right USB DAQ device for my application

Let me share the .exe file, that I use for my application, i.e. the thermostat for QCD. It is available at the following URL:

    http://www.teamwavelength.com/support/software.php?page=datasheets&view=temperaturecontrollers

Temperature controller I use is PTC 10 K - CH got the NI USB 6351 data acquisition card. I tried the interface between the PC and PTC 10 K - CH, but could not get the desired results. (no monitoring/precise temperature control for the conduct of the LASER Source). It's a .exe file, I couldn't find how code works as well. So even if the program runs without error, I can't understand why it does not show the proper temperature values. Manual for the same Temp.Controller is available on the website of electronic wavelength.

I would like to know if NI USB 6351 is suitable for the PTC 10 K - CH? If so, what are the common mistakes, I need to make the same thing with LabVIEW interfacing while (because I'm a beginner)? Any help is appreciated.

    Hi DEV_DS,

It seems that you have just 2 channels of, 1 AO channel, and 1 line.  Glancing at the datasheet, I see no reason that the USB-6351 should not work with the PTC10K-CH.

Can you share with us a screenshot of the configuration tab data acquisition channels, a screenshot of your list of devices and Interfaces developed NI MAX, and a description of the physical wiring connections you have made in the material?

  • WSN-9791 frequency selection and interference

WSN-9791 indicates that it can operate on the 2.4 GHz band channels 11-24 (I'm guessing that USA is limited to 11).  How to avoid multiple interference OR WSN, in the same neighborhood?  Is there a way to set or determine the channels that the network is working in?  For example, with the 802.11 standard common internet hubs can fix them to use one of these 11 channels.

    Thank you

    Garrett

    Hey Garret.

You are right that channels 25 and 26 are outside the range of 802.11, but they cannot be used for the same reason that you can't go to channel 11 for 802.11 here in the United States.

Also, for the gateways in the same neighborhood, you must assign different channels.  Gateways running on the same channel in the same vicinity will cause problems for both networks.

    The questions keep coming!

  • Antennas and detection of WSN

    Hello

I'm trying to observe the activity of the network of the Starter Kit WSN using a WiSpy 2.4 x (http://www.metageek.net/products/wi-spy-24x).

What I do now is I have restart the gateway of MAX (I tried channel 11-24) and then begin to record the activity of the network using the wispy graphical user interface. I didn't however notice any important data on one of the channels. Is probably caused by the interference of the networks wi - fi in the background?

The purpose of my test is to use different antennas to measure their effectiveness (signal strength, power consumption). But I can't see the WSN using WiSpy. Do you have any other suggestions on how to perform this test? If you don't know how to do this using the WiSpy as well, I would like to know that as well.

    Thanks for your time.

    Hey Sravan,.

I'll answer each of your questions below:

    1. That is right.  GW' router' router' 7 terminals distributed in four different directions would be an example of a configuration of 36 knots.
    2. The limit 3 hop is a defined specification OR to ensure the integrity of the data on the network.
    3. Spec'd sample intervals are what we recommend for large networks (~ 15 + knots).  It is possible to go faster on a smaller network.
    4. You are assuming that there is a heartbeat.  Every 61 seconds sleep, an end node will wake up and return the blink of an eye at the entry door.  That heartbeat contains the external supply of the quality of the connection, the battery voltage,?, router Mesh? and ViDeployed?.   For the nodes that have a sampling interval< 61="" seconds,="" this="" heartbeat="" is="" never="">
    5. When an end node is dormant, node does nothing.  The radio is powered down, so that it will not be able to receive all incoming traffic.  If the gateway that has something to send to an end node, it will wait until it receives a message from this node before sending it.
    6. The radio is not certified to use these channels, as some countries do not allow them.
    7. Routers are still, as they must be able to receive messages at any time.  This isn't a standard zigbee, rather a standard of implementation implementation of this radio.  Sleeping routers introduce new challenges in the network that are very difficult to deal with today's technology.
    8. I don't know exactly your issue.  Most of power is burned keeping the radio in, then nodes will see much longer battery life than the routers times (such as routers only last a few days on the batteries).

Let me know if you need any clarification.

  • CRIO and WSN

    Nice day

This shows that I can use WSN with CRIO. I installed the software of RIO OR-RIO 3.3.0 and I WSN 1.0.2. When I discovered my crio in remote systems in Max, the software displays 3.3.0 installed, but if I develop it, there is nothing of WSN, I guess that's the problem, why I can't deploy my vi with wsn applications, for the crio.

Are there other software necessary for the use of WSN with CRIO?

    Thank you

    Jevon

Make sure you only select "Custom Software Installation" at the bottom of the list of cRIO software.

    Click Yes to the warning.

Then scroll to the bottom of the list, and then select WSN host API 1.0.0

    Install.

  • WSN NI 9792 safety 1.2: initial configuration? By default the username and password?

    Hello

With NI WSN 1.1, using a 9792, I can click on the button set the permissions, and if none had been defined would simply ask me a new administrator password.  Now with NI WSN 1.2, when I click on the button set the permissions he takes me to the web interface of the 9792 and said "nobody is connected or you don't have permissions to view/edit users, groups, and permissions.»  When I click on the "connect" button, a box opens and asks me a username and password.  I scoured the notes version of the help files and the internet, and it seems there is NO documentation on how to set up the first name of username/password combination, or it indicates what combination of username/password default username there might be.  I also tried a brand new 9792 straight out of the box and load of 1.2 to this subject and it has the same problem.  Is there something obvious that I'm missing?  How a person initially configure security on the 9792?

    Hello, Garrett,.

    Thanks for your post!

Looks like you're having need for information on how to find the information of your 9792 newspaper. When you use NEITHER-WSN 1.1 allowed us users to define the initial password and this is still the case for the 9791. The 9792 is a gateway OR WSN node and a target time LabVIEW Real-time. Its default log in information or lie in a (KB) Knowledge Base using LabVIEW or helping MAX. You use LabVIEW 2009 SP1 or LabVIEW 2010?

The default name of the user and the password is the following:

    user name: admin

    password:

    KO

  • WSN MAX, J-type thermocouple and serach time node issues

    Hi dear all,

I use the WSN starter kit, I am able to work well on it, but have some problems and you smart guys do look in those.

    1. once I installed 1.2 WSN software module poineer, I am unable to see Remote System tab in the tree of MAX, only my system tab is displayed. Even if I am able to see in my lvproject, to develop and use the application successfully.

    2. the J type thermocouple which came once I set TC0 + and TC - of the WSN - 212 node according to documentations, then in Labview VI, I see in the temperature value 273.56 ambiguous as - values and change them to-244.67 as once that I touch at its end. My node is set by default to the range of temp type J and Celcius, click right property tab.

3 How long the knots will search gateway once its out of the range of gateway or I power off of the entry door? I experienced his seraches led for about 1 min then sleeps for 1 min at the start and then sleep time increases. I did this for 3-4 hours but after that 7-8 hours I couldn't see any LED flash for the search of the entry door. I needed to push button on the node, and then I start seraching.

Kindly help me on these issues. More will come once I have will probe deeper into the system.

  • WSN Routing Tables and better path decisions

    Hello

My team has placed a total of 10 knots in an industrial environment of factory.  Nine are defined as routers, and there is only one end node.  The gateway is a little in the center of this area, and there is no node failed.  The coverage area is four floors with approximately 63000 square feet of floor area per level.  I'm having a problem with a section of the path used to reach the end node: a quality signal between the 3rd and 4th routers gateway has been ignored in favor of a lower quality signal.  If I take this 4th router and move it very closely the 3rd router and do a reset it will pick up the 3rd router signal and remain at about 60% intensity of the signal for several minutes.  However, this 4th router will soon fall sharply to about 20% intensity (much less that NEITHER recommended by 30%) of the signal.  The network is to decide than 3 jumps of signal is relatively good is worse than a jump involving a bad signal?  Also, is there a way to read what are routing tables to determine if it is indeed the case?

    Thank you!

    Garrett

We suggest you use the least necessary routers for your background. Routers add the chance for the performance of the network has declined due to uninteded jump. Then, even when food is available, the default choice for the nodes must be nodes except routers are needed.

  • time (for wsn 9791) in MAX server configuration

    Hello

I need to set up a time for my gateway WSN9791 server in order to ger readings with timestamp of remote nodes. How can I do?

I already checked this forum and other sources of information on this issue and has concluded that the time server is configured by using MAX under "Remote Systems > NOR-WSN9791 > System Settings" but I have not found any arrangement for the NTP server there.

    My system configuration is:

    -Windows 7 Professional

    -LabView 2013

    NOR-WSN 2013

    -MAX 5.5.0f0 of worm.

    -a WSN9791 gateway

    -eight knots of WSN3202

    concerning

    Flavio

Finally, I asked the technicians support of OR who have come to find a solution.

I report the message that describes the problem.

    ------

Why can I not set a time for my NOR-WSN-9791 gateway server?

It is a known problem in NI MAX 5.5 and 5.6 MAX OR. The time server option was not be displayed due to a change in the backend of the system settings page. Workaround to view the setting of the time server was created. The following steps will allow the option of time server OR 5.5 or 5.6 MAX MAX OR

    1. on your development computer, go to C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments\MAX\UI Providers\DefaultRemoteUixml\ to C:\Program Files (x 86) and 64-bit windows \National Instruments\MAX\UI Providers\DefaultRemoteUixml\ for 32-bit windows.
    2. in the directory C:\Program Files (x 86) of Providers\DefaultRemoteUixml\ \National Instruments\MAX\UI, make a copy of the original mxrmcfg. DDPSystem.def.xml original-mxrmcfg file. DDPSystem.def.xml. this backup the original file to undo the changes.
    3. open in Notepad the file mxrmcfg. DDPSystem.def.xml

4 replace the contents of the file with the following:

    5 restart NI MAX

After you follow these steps, you will be able to set the time server on the NOR-WSN-9791 via NI MAX.

  • WSN-9791, management to the 3202 errors

I have setup a 9791with 3202 and attached to a 250 Ohm resistor to measure a 4-20mA signal to the 3202 AI0. I'm always out of measing the input voltage and I also check the voltage of battery, link quality, external power supply and error messages with the management of simple mistakes. Everything seems to work properly. Now I disconnect to the 3202 and remove the batteries. Surprisingly, the voltage to AI0 remains its value, the battery voltage remains the same, it shows as external is present and the error handling will not display any errors. After 3 minutes MAX will show that the signal was lost. The VI shows that the external power supply has been disconnected. All other values remain the same

I'm using LabVIEW 2009FDS and I don't have a Pioneer or any additional software. I have updated the firmware of the 9791 and 3202 to the latest revision.

How can I display in my VI that the signal has been lost? MAX seems to be able to do so, but only after 3 minutes. Why the management of errors never poster no matter what? Why is the quality of the binding the same when the signal is lost?

    Thank you

    Hi wv,.

I'm sorry that you are not satisfied with the features of the WSN material.

You need not actually a time accurate system to check if your data is obsolete.  What you need to do is check compared to the timestamp of the last time read you.  In this case, it matters really very little whether the internal clock is 1903 or 2011.  You check just to see if the data was updated to say the past 3 minutes.

As far as the quality of the connection goes, it's also a common variable and therefore likely to be the same phenomena as the other values of nodes.

    Have a great day,

    Chris V
