15 - r110na: connected standby

This laptop has moderator drivers installed as part of the Windows 8.1 desktop activity. These drivers allow standby connected.  I don't know if this model of laptop supports connected before.  Anyone know please?

Hello

I doubt, it does not support this, but you can check by entering a command prompt

powercfg /AVAILABLESLEEPSTATES

Kind regards

All current machines will support connected standby mode in windows 8? Eve connected allows one machine to sleep briefly turns on, check the updates (IE twitter, facebook, emails), and then to go back to sleep. It would be cool to beable to close my W530, out for a bit and come back and see I'm new e-maisl while the machine was asleep.

  • Venue 11 7130 - in mode connected standby

Hello, I had the Tablet for a week and after finding all kinds of topics related to issues with the Tablet, I wonder if it's a wise purchase. The Tablet, is superb but there is something missing.

In any case, I realized that windows tablets use what we call connected before. I found about this because I think that this feature allows the tablet to easily put to sleep and wake up in a few seconds. I was wondering if the 7130 support this because I can't see if I'm "powercfg - a." All I get is the other sleep modes and I had 3 questions about this:

    1. how to activate this feature on the Tablet?

    2. it will improve the terrible time that this tablet has wake-up?

    3. If is not possible, what are expected of the place 11 waking hours?

I wondered about this because I noticed other posts where they talk about this feature on this tablet. I appreciate all help in advance thank you. This is the output of "powercfg - a":

  • Windows 8 and/or Surface Pro supports "connected standby mode?

    Hello

I just read that ' a Windows 8.1 feature called connected standby mode, which allows computers to be put into mode 'sleep' and wake up instantly, is available today than in the 32-bit version "is the reason why" first Trail Bay tablets will use only the 32-bit version of Windows 8.1 ".»

But if this is true, don't would then not it means that the Surface Pro running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit is therefore unable to use "connected pending"?

I didn't notice the Surface Pro or the W700 Acer having problems coming out pending, then perhaps 'connected standby mode' is another type of sleep?  Can someone explain to me.  The "instant on" feature (the case of illusion, or for real) is what tablet users and so Windows 8.

Our company has been delaying the replacement of our laptops Windows XP until the release of 2.4 GHz, 64 bit, 8 GB RAM, SSD 256/512, 4 G/LTE Mobile Broadband Bay Trail devices come to market.  As a benchmark, we are looking for a device (/ Ultrabook/Tablet laptop computer) that would be able to effectively deliver business applications, for example Adobe Photoshop, MS Powerpoint.  2 to 4 GB of RAM will not be enough.

It will be Haswell devices without a fan, we have to buy these, even if they are much heavier and have reduced the battery life because it seems that it would not be until 2015 that see us peripheral Bay Trail capable business, see the articles below.

Mobile Atom SoC stay 32-bit at least until 2015
Somewhat surprising is the notion that Intel will keep its Silvermont Atom processor as a 32-bit platform until at least 2014. Customers who need the ability of 64-bit Atom will have to the Centerton Atom-S the microserver-based processor. It is not known if the successor of Silvermont, the 14 nm Airmont, will move to 64-bit

    https://www.NetworkWorld.com/news/2013/091213-Windows-81-tablets-with-64-bit-273770.html

Buyers looking for a tablet with the new Bay Trail Atom from Intel chip and a 64-bit version of Windows 8.1 will have to wait until early next year.

Intel executives said Wednesday the first Trail Bay tablets will use only the 32-bit version of Windows 8.1, despite the support of 64-bit on the chip.

Tablets with OS 32 bit have a limit of 4 GB of DRAM memory, while 64-bit can actually support 512 GB. Most of the first tablets Trail Bay with Windows 8.1 will not more than 4 GB of memory, said Steve Smith, Vice President and Director of development for the tablet at Intel.

"We have the capacity, now it's a matter of when a system of consumption needs, it's probably somewhere in the future, I would say that a few generations away ', said Smith.

The reason is the limitation in the software of Microsoft, said Nathan Brookwood, principal analyst at Insight 64. A feature of Windows 8.1 and wake up instantly, called Eve connected, which allows computers to be put into mode 'sleep' is available now than in the 32-bit version.

Microsoft adds functionality to the 8.1 Windows 64-bit, and it will be available in early 2014.

Intel also does not feel 64-bit is required on consumer shelves, even if he knows what IT managers want 64-bit compatibility on all PCs and mobile devices in the enterprise.

Intel is developing a smart Tablet Trail separate Bay scheduled for 64 bit versions of Windows 8.1, and the processor will be available in the first quarter of next year, said Chris Walker, Director general of tablets at Intel Mobile Communications Group.

2 Surface Pro supports NOT connected to sleep, even if it uses the "Haswell" chip, which supports this mode.

There is a world of difference between standby connected and traditional modes of 'Sleep' and 'put to sleep '. Basically, connected to standby mode, the system really is, but requests are suspended for most. See here for a Microsoft document that gives an introduction connected mode standby.

I don't know why the 2 Surface Pro does not deliver sleep connected; I've seen several data, possible reasons for why this might be true:

    • The 64-bit Windows 8/8.1 version does not support it.
    • It is necessary that the material to be a fanless design (Surface Pro 2A fans).
    • It is necessary for the design to have TPM (Trusted Platform Module) version 2.0 (Surface Pro 2A version 1.2)

Whatever the reason (and it can be one or more of the above), it is disappointing that a product of the so-called phare does not support the feature.

  • battery drain huge Omni 10 mode standby

    Hello

I have a tablet of omni 10 Hp with Windows 8.1 for almost a week now. It s works well after I did all windows, drivers and bios updates, but the battery is drained quickly when I put it in sleep mode. When I left it over the weekend, the battery got completely discharged. Today, she has lost about 10% autonomy of 10 h 30 min.

It surprises me, because I thought that the InstantOn technology would be more energy efficient.

It s solutions possess a device that spill into the next few days without using it. What can I do to improve the life of the battery in standby mode?

    mrkkayy

Try diabling the connected standby function, even if this is not desirable and the sleep feature will be lost.

    Reach:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power. There is a DWORD value called "CsEnabled" that you should find the value 1 and change to 0 will turn standby connected power off.

  • Place 11 Pro 7130 i3 (model no-VPro) connected ongoing sleep issues again?

    Hello

I noticed that despite a number of improvements with the last firmware panel touch (the rare involuntary repetition of letters) and still a problem of firmware (no more wifi from the A13 firmware problem) device always on my 11 venue Pro model i3: during sleep sessions connected excessive battery drain.

What happens is that, after leaving the appliance for 8 hours (overnight) connected standby battery has already drained almost 50%, which, as far as I understand, is much higher than that should be the case, while often after the awakening of the device, I found that another application may have open or some kind of parasite entries occurred.

For now I've worked around the issue by disabling connected standby mode of the registry, which has the additional advantage of allowing hybernation in the stop menu. This, however, is a suboptimal solution because it seems necessary to either press the Windows logo on the chassis of tablets and THEN press the power button for a good second to wake up the unit, or with the keyboard connected, it is necessary to close the Tablet and re - open, followed by the same press the power button.

Given that I seem to not be the only one with this problem and the lack of software updates for the device-specific over the past months, I would ask Dell if these issues of connected intelligence are still studied on the 7130 with a possible solution to come in the form of firmware updates or otherwise , or if attention was completely shifted to the model with processor Broadwell followed 7140.

Update for the people of the future: using this version of the SD card reader driver seems to fix the problem, which should have returned to a default restart driver driver specified on the support of the 11 Pro place Web site must be installed in Windows.

LGWR is recommended where repeat applies will be interms of roll forward. If in the case of all redo currently lost, you have very less time loss of data. Real-time here APPLY.
In the case of ARCH, transferred with regard to Archives and applied.

  • iTunes does not support Windows 10 modern watches over tablets and newer laptops

    Hello.

Since Windows 8, there is a new mode called available standby connected standby (Windows 8), InstantGo (Windows 8.1) or modern (Windows 10) from the previous day.

Tablets with Windows and newer laptops use modern sleep every time instead of old standby mode when firstly, it turns off the screen and after a while CPU turnes off (S3 mode AFAIK).

Computer works now similar to a phone in a Pocket, you can listen to music or get a call (Skype).

Here is the description for developers on Miscrosoft MSDN: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/mt282515.aspx

Developers need to make their applications compatible with a modern Eve, otherwise application does not work while the unit is in standby modern.

There is a Microsoft Groove app installed music on my book of Surface with 10 Windows, he can play DRM iTunes media, and continues to play when the screen turns off.

12.4.1.6 iTunes seems to be incompatible legacy applications because it stops to play my music if I let laptop intact for 5 minutes.

I tried to explain this to a phone Apple support, but they told me that this isn't a problem with iTunes but Windows and I need to get in touch with Microsoft instead of Apple.

I can't use my subscription Apple same music in music Groove as a solution because it is unable to read the DRM from iTunes m4p files, of course it can not directly access cloud Apple music too.

Is it possible to transmit this information to Apple?

I don't understand why Apple let iTunes must be installed on Windows 8 + because actually it works terrible.

For example, it can not switch audio speakers headphones and vice versa (while other applications that correctly), there are also some problems of video output, sometimes also the iTunes window receive a second bar tiny minimize / closing maximise controls, also the search field sometimes loose the keyboard input.

Developers need to make their applications compatible with a modern Eve, otherwise application does not work while the unit is in standby modern...

I tried to explain this to a phone Apple support, but they told me that this isn't a problem with iTunes but Windows and I need to get in touch with Microsoft instead of Apple...

Is it possible to transmit this information to Apple?

    Oleg,

Support staff does not normally deal in development issues, so it is quite likely that simply, they did not understand the question.  To report it directly to Apple, use the comments link:

    http://www.Apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

When you send feedback, try to be as clear and objective as possible.

iTunes has a huge population of Windows users, so I don't know that apple is interested.

  • HP Pavilion PC 2 x removable: PC HP Pavilion x 2 removable - battery when in Sleep Mode Work-Around

After a lot of research, trial and error and re-trial... Here is my proposed solution for those who like me have tired of having the X 2 die on them while you sleep!

Option 1 - Activate put into hibernation

Basically, this will disable Windows 10 'connected standby' feature in which the Tablet is supposed to go into a deep 'Riks' sleep while still being somehow able to keep control of e-mails and other things in the background. The problem is that, because many drivers (such as the Intel ESS Audio Device (WDM)) do not seem to have been implemented for the x 2 on windows 10, then the Tablet continues to drain energy.

The solution is to go back to the good old "Hibernate" feature. It will take a few seconds longer for the x 2 to return to normal mode and cost about 700 MB of disk space that is used by the hyberfil to temporarily store data of RAM memory. The x 2 will be generally enter hybernation 5-10 minutes after sleep, but you can set the type below.

    To enable the hibernation

Go to control Panel\All Control PanelPower Options\Edit Plan parameters Items\

    Open "change advanced power settings".

Expand the subtopic 'Sleep' , and under 'on battery' select Hibernate.

If you get stuck - more detailed instructions can be found here: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2859-hibernate-enable-disable-windows-10-a.html

Option 2 - persevere with sleep "connected standby".

Unfortunately in my experience, it is only frustration and disappointment, but you can try to identify what prevents your 2 x to enter sleep and disabling / updated drivers to see if that helps. To help you in this quest, you have the following which must be run as an administrator.

Press the Windows key + X and click to open the command (as admin) window

Paste it below and press ENTER to execute

    powercfg /batteryreport
    powercfg-energy
    Powercfg.exe SleepStudy

Open c:/Windows/System32 and search for files

    sleepstudy - report.html

    energy - report.html

    battery - report.html

  • Windows 8.1 Pro Update 1 not available

I have a new 10 Thinkpad running Windows Pro 8.1. I don't see an option to install the update 1 (available via Windows Store on my other laptops Windows 8). I don't think that 1 update has been installed, because I don't see the power button on the home screen next to my username. With the help of the command does not work, Windows Update indicates that all updates have been installed. How to update 1? Thank you!

You won't see the power button on the start screen on a tablet that uses connected Standby (alias InstantGo) - it's Microsoft design. So you will use 1 update if you are told that all updates are installed.

  • 360 13 inches x spectrum: spectrum x 360 8.1 Windows stops to get into sleep after a few hours

My x 360 spectrum stops to get into sleep after a few hours of normal behavior.  In other words, when the computer is started first, he put on standby and Hibernate mode then normally after the specified idle period.  It can then be woken up and work normally and then to go back to sleep after inactivity - during a few hours.  It stops working after the computer has been for a few hours.  I don't know exactly how much time must be in place before this problem starts, but once it ceases to be able to sleep, the only way to solve the problem is to reboot the system.  Once the problem occurs, the computer turns off the screen but that's it.  He will sleep if I do it manually by pressing the button of power or a click on the Windows button and forcing them to sleep or hibernation.

I watched powercfg /requests and there is nothing listed that could prevent sleep.  I ran also report with fluo compact powercfg and it also does not list something that prevents apparent sleep.

NOTE: The energy report is also EVEN if the system still works correctly.

I could use help to determine what is the cause of this condition.

Sleep States allow the computer to access the modes low power after a period of inactivity. The waking state S3 is the State of default Eve for Windows platforms. The waking state S3 consumes only enough power to preserve the contents of the memory and allow the computer to return to work quickly. Very few platforms are supported States S1 or S2 sleep.

I found a thread on Microsoft answers community web site.  Unfortunately, it seems that Microsoft has not fixed even though this thread is over a year.  This has been driving me crazy.  In any case, the problem is with Windows 8.1 and is caused by the use of a Microsoft account to connect to the computer.  If the account is not connected, after a few hours the computer stops to fall asleep.  If you close the MS account, then the computer will sleep normally.  My dose is to convert my connection from the local computer to a local account and disconnect from Microsoft.  This process is easy to do, go into the settings of PC and disconnect the account.  It will keep your original profile.

Here is the link to the thread that got clued in the solution:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows8_1-performance/Windows-81-refuses-to-sleep-automatically-idle/6ab4aaaf-31bd-4baf-ABC6-62ba8c8260aa?DB=5&page=2&rtAction=1452178632575

I consider this resolved issue that HP is concerned.  Microsoft needs to address the issue.  I'm not interested in switching to Windows 10 for compatibility reasons and, in this regard, the same problem can exist in the W10.

  • InstantGo on TPT2?

When I run the app of alarms on the TPT2 W8.1 it seems to say that InstantGo (aka connected standby) is not available. Is it possible to activate it? I understand that the material he should support. Bios and configuration would be missing steps?

You can easily accomplish playing music with the screen turned off and the system in one State of power less than reading with an application of Windows 8 as the default start screen music app or more other stored by Windows 8 of the store.  It is not currently possible for a desktop application (IE. Windows Media Player) to continue to run and use the audio stack.

Connected standby modes are active and available according to the default configuration of Acer.  It won't if you have performed a clean installation of Windows.  If that's what you did, you must install the Acer drivers and run the commands in:

  • End of drain battery Dell place 11 Pro

I had been post in a different thread display freezing, but I tell myself that it is a different question although it may appear on the screen that is draining the battery.

So, here's my problem.  Whenever I leave my coming Pro 11 i5/128 GB/64-bit/Office 2013 go to sleep (power button / stop, timeout or close the lid on my mobile keyboard), it seems that the system goes to sleep - screen goes black.  However, when I open it up, I finally see that the 3 to 6% per hour battery is drained. This seems too much.  If I turn off the power instead, near 0% is depleted by next time.

I started with the affichage.3316 driver and I tried to upgrade vers.3345, but it doesn't seem to help.  I also checked the BIOS - "A05".  I am more that willing to run some test is necessary to diagnose, but not sure what to try.  Here's a 'powercfg /sleepstudy' newest sleep cycle.  As you can see, the family Intel Graphics device is 100% active during a connected sleep cycle.

Also, I noticed that sometimes, the fan turns on when he's asleep - I know that this thing can be power hungry.  Can anyone help?

Okay, maybe to something. I have the latest version of the O2 Micro installed driver that retains its identity in the Device Manager. This is the version 3.0.8.34 A03 (Dell driver #4Y1R8). This driver is installed instead of the "SDA Standard compatible SD Host Controller" which is under "Intel (r) 8 series PCI Express Root Port #4-9 C 16".» The controller will now appear in "Storage controllers" category as "controller of BayHubTech/O2Micro Integrated MMC/SD", and my SD card shows as a "SD SCSI Disk Device' in this.

The performance of the Audio driver may or may not be related, so I'll include the fact that I unpakaged the latest driver Realtek HD Audio 6.0.17399 A03 (47P 33) manually using 7 - zip as it was the only way he would unpack the actual driver files and install correctly. So I mentioned SD card driver above installed as well as the latest Audio drivers installed. The new audio drivers run processes less and less startup item, which certainly can't hurt things.

I stopped the O2FLASH service and set its startup type to manual (for disabled people is probably fine too). I'm not sure it makes a difference, but I don't see that it does not seem to affect the operation of the SD card at all.

The first test shows that the percentage of low power HW State is now of the order of 98% for the first time in my history of sleep study! All others are virtually zero. I just ran it for 20 minutes connected standby, but it is a great result! I'll let it run for long standby periods and let you know how it goes.

If you can or can not duplicate these results please let me know. There may be other factors in how I configured the computer that could play into it. However the changes I mentioned are those I've done between sessions on standby with status of low power 0% and now 98% material. I'm cautiously optimistic! :-)
