20 minutes to connect to the network anywhere

I use a Compaq laptop with Windows Vista SP 2 OS on a home network. It takes me 20 minutes to connect to a wireless network at home, at a library, in a hotel or in a place like Starbucks wifi. I am at a loss to explain why this is happening!

Hello

I suggest you try to update the latest drivers for the network adapter and check if it helps:

  • LaserJet Pro M201nw: M201nw LaserJet Pro no longer meets the ePrint requests, a few minutes after connecting to the network

I've just implemented a new M201nw of the LaserJet Pro and it works fine, except for a problem with the printer with ePrint.

I could implement Web Services on the printer and add it to as an ePrint, connected HP printer. Thanks to ePrint and Google Cloud Print printing for a few minutes after you have turned on the printer.

But after a while, that can last from 3 to 10 minutes, the printer appears as "offline" in connected HP. If I check the settings ePrint to the printer through the front LCD or the web interface, for "ePrint Server Status", one of two things happening: sometimes there's just busy, or after a few seconds, I see "connection error. Check the Internet connection. »

When I see the error message, I ask 'Tour ePrint temporarily turned off.' The printer will reconnect ePrint and work for a few minutes again.

Local networking features of the printer such as network printing and web interface do not seem to have any problems.

I don't think that the problem is related to my internet connection, which is reliable. I can monitor the traffic on my network and see communication between servers, XMPP from HP ePrint and the printer when the printer is working normally. When the printer has this problem, I still see the traffic coming in from HP but no traffic coming out of the printer. It's very strange and suggests part of the firmware of the printer does not work properly.

Anyone else had problems with this printer model?

Finally, I have determined the cause of the problem. While doing a follow-up, I discovered a router not authorized on the network itself advertising via the Protocol RIP (Routing Information) emissions. It seems that his presence finally confused the printer to know where to send the traffic. After turning off the emissions from the router, the ePrint feature, now works well.

  • I am not able to connect to the main wifi network but can connect to the network of comments.

    Hello

This is something new, I am facing to where I am not able to connect to a main network of airport extreme, but can connect to the network of comments. Guest network works perfectly fine while the main network does not connect to devices in the home. I also found that none of my base stations are visible in the airport utility (I Airpot extreme and Airport Express on the same network). Help, please.

The first step in troubleshooting with this type of problem is to perform a complete network power cycle on your network. If you decide to do...

Power off all the devices on your network... modem, routers, computers, printers, etc... in any order you want.

    Wait a minute

Turn on the modem first and leave a few minutes, he managed by itself

Turn on the next device that is connected to a modem and leaves turn a good minute

Keep turn on devices one by one at a time, one minute apart, until the entire network is back

Recheck the network and report on your results

I connected via hotspot and it worked fine, but all of my other computers laptops HP connects very well and they are 10 Windows as well. Only this laptop is upward, so I guess it's a problem with a new driver.

    Hello @JljoThomas!

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Forums of HP!

I understand that you have a problem of activation of the functionality of web services on your MFP HP LaserJet Pro M277n. I'd love to help you with this.

First of all, you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have used a surge protector/power bar this whole time and you feel that this is not the case, please connect to a wall outlet so that we can eliminate the source of energy as the primary cause. Issues when connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power
In this document you will see, QUESTION: questions or problems may arise when a HP LaserJet printer is connected to a UPS (UPS), a power strip or a surge protector
↑ This is not limited to the Laserjet printers.

If this does not resolve the issue, we are going to let the router and unplug the power cable (NOTE: do not reset the router...), then do the same with the printer and shut down the computer. After a minute, plug in the router, wait to fully turn on, then plug the printer back in and wait for the wireless light become solid. Once the router and the printer are on, go ahead and re - turn on the computer. This will refresh the network connection.

If you are still unable to connect to web services after trying these steps, we can try to set a manual DNS server of your printer to connect to.

On the front panel of the printer, press the wireless icon. Select it wireless TO get the wireless summary. Do not your IP address.

    1. on your computer, open a Web browser and enter the IP address of the printer in the address bar. This will bring up the embedded Web server (EWS) page.

    2. at the top of the page, select Networking.

    3. in the left side, select Identification network.

    4. in article for DNS, under primary (IPv4) enter 8.8.8.8, under secondary (IPv4) enter 8.8.4.4.

    5. Select Apply at the bottom of the screen.

    6. try to activate the web services again.

If it is still unable to connect, try to enter 209.244.0.3 for the primary (IPv4) and 209.244.0.4 for secondary (IPv4)

    Hope this helps!

  • Computer connects to the network wireless as "local only".

I am running Vista Home Premium SP2 on a HP Pavilion laptop.  I've never had any problems to connect this machine to a wireless network before, in hotels, at home, or anywhere.  My current home network is a modem - cable-> wireless-> wireless netgear n300 router.  My laptop connects to the internet via the modem cable directly or a wire from the netgear router.  I have a second, almost cell identical (it's intel, while the one who does not is AMD) which connects to the network wireless without any problem.  Two iphones connected wirelessely without any problem.  My HP laptop is the only one who refuses to connect to the internet.  Connected to the wireless network, it has access "local only".

I tried the solution in this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233

The question does not seem to receive an ip address, the computer receives an ip address.  I have disabled the IP v6, ran the norton removal tool, because I only had to a point and tried all other suggestions in these discussions: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistanetworking/thread/0949042d-074e-43ab-ba95-3c06cc2aa6be and http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistanetworking/thread/bc08f0e7-49a9-4458-9e0e-149b2df362ec.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the adapter and all TCP/IP and network protocols associated with it.  I am at a loss and would welcome any ideas.

  • OfficeJet Pro 6830 hangs when it is connected to the network

I just pick up a Pro OfficeJet 6830. I installed the ink cartridges and it seems to be able to print copies and test pages, but I can't seem to connect to my network. Here is what I tried:

    Using the Wireless Setup Wizard

I selected my network in the list and entered my WPA key. It says it tries to connect, then the following occurs:

1 briefly press (for less than one second), a screen will appear showing that it has successfully connected to the network.

    2. Press briefly (for less than a second) the screen flashes blue with an icon of 'power' and 'B8B2A4F8' text (which I assume is an error code).

    3. the screen display changes to "printer error: there is a problem with the printer.» "Turn the printer off, then on.

    4. after restarting the printer, he complains that he has not been arrested properly.

Any other attempt to connect gives the same results.

    Ethernet connection

If I turn on the printer when connected via Ethernet cable to my network, after about 10 seconds it crashes as described above (steps 2 and 3) without doing me anything at all.

I also tried a "Hard Reset" (i.e. unplug the printer for 60 seconds, and then it turning it back on again). This made no difference whatsoever.

I managed to get it to connect to a WiFi hotspot on my laptop (and I checked the firmware updates, but unfortunately there is none available), it seems that there is something of my network that do not have the printer. I have no idea what this could be, however. Someone at - it ideas?

    It solved!

I spent a bit of time on the phone with HP tech support and the guy could not actually solve the problem for me but it helped prove that the hardware network printer works OK. I could connect the printer directly to my PC via Ethernet, then ping and access the built-in web server.

It occurred to me that perhaps the problem was related to DHCP, because the printer broke immediately after the connection to the network. My router is an Asus RT-N66u with custom firmware (version Asuswrt-Merlin 376.48_3) and I could see the router newspaper that he was sending a DHCP acknowledgement to the printer just before he died.

So, here is what I did to solve the problem:

1 turn off the DHCP server on the router.

    2. on the printer, operated the network icon on the homescreen (at the Middle bottom) wireless.

3 typed down "gear" icon to the left (settings).

    4 typed "wireless settings".

    5 typed "Assistant wireless configuration".

6 selected my wireless network and entered the WPA key. This time, no crash, but he did not get an IP address assigned (obviously).

    7. back in 'Wireless Settings', I typed in 'advanced settings '.

    8 typed 'IP Settings'.

    9. tapped "manual (static).

    10. enter in the details for my network - yours will probably be different, but I entered in what follows:

IP address: 192.168.002.201 (I chose this because it is outside the range of addresses, the router for DHCP problems).

    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

    Default gateway: 192.168.002.001

    DNS address: 192.168.002.001

    11 hit 'apply '.

12 re-enabled the DHCP server on my router.

    And now it works!

  • Dynadock U3.0 - unable to connect to the network

I have a U3.0 Dynadock and when you try to connect to the network at work via a network cable, the parameters were not detected automatically.
I then put manual details (IP), but this did not fix the problem.

I assigned by DHCP the Dynadock should get a certain IP address.
    I still have a problem.

In addition, when left on DHCP, subnet mask is 255.255.0.0 which is weird.

Has anyone else had trouble linking their Dynadock to their network?

I use a laptop another progress, running Windows 7, 64 bit.

    I found a solution.

update to the latest version of the software available at toshiba for the dynadock solves this problem.

software provided with the hardware is V6.1

to solve the problem, it is necessary to download the toshiba support website V6.2.

Also note, that windows 7 doesn't automatically recognize that this software update is available.

I downloaded and installed the public beta version of iOS 9.3 on my iPhone 6 today. After that, I am unable to connect to the network. I tried to reset the network connection of the phone and have my cell phone operator reset the network connection. None worked. Anyone else have this same problem?

I was able to solve the problem by turning on "Airplane Mode" for 5 seconds, then shut off again. Everything seems to work fine now.
