5 GHz wireless operation

I have a HP Pavilion p6 2496ea desktop PC running a Ralink RT5390R 802.11bgn Wi - Fi adapter.

It is usable on a 5G router?

It works well on the 2.4 g system, but does not see the 5g.

Are there settings that must be changed, or do I need a different wireless adapter?

Windows OS 8.1

Hello:

It would take another adapter WLAN that the model you have is a single card band (2.4 GHz) only.

    Thank you.

    Hello:

Here is the link to the product for your laptop.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c04015688

Next section of wireless connectivity, I see an Intel 802.11b/g/n with card Wireless Smart Connect (2 x 2) technology listed.

Whenever you see a card with a suffix of bgn wireless, it means that it is a single card band (2.4 GHz) only.

A dual band Wireless N card has a suffix abgn or agn.

That is why you cannot connect to the band of 5 GHz with your laptop.  The card is only designed to connect to the 2.4 GHz band.

  • Pavilion dv6-6113tx frequency 5 GHz wireless network has not detected

    Hello

My HP Pavilion dv6-6113tx Entertainment Notebook PC does not detect the signals of frequency of 5 GHz. I tried to verify my update of the software of wireless network and it is also up to date. I asked my colleague to help, they suggested me to attach a double external dongal wireless broadband. Is this the only solution? Or is it possible to replace the network adapter with a double band if this machine does not have this one. Please help me, I'm really annoyed with my computer laptop wifi. He works with 2.4 GHz wifi signal, ut due to problem of interference as indicated by the internet provider that doesn't have the right speed and speed fluctuates a lot.

    Hey @arbab92 ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you're looking for more information about the 5 GHz wireless connectivity computer laptop dv6.

The adapter supplied with your laptop is not a dual band card and does not support the frequency of 5 GHz.

Generally (RFI) Wireless interference can be solved by changing the channel on your router wireless. The default value for most router manufacturers is channel 6, which runs on 2,437 GHz. You can change the channel on your router to channel 1 wireless (2.412 GHz) or 11 (2,462 GHz) away from the bloated channel 6 if there are several wireless networks and devices in your area.

If changing the channel is not an option, or does not resolve the problem, you can buy a wireless network for your laptop adapter. The only 5 GHz compatible card that is compatible with your laptop is the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230. The part number for this is 631956-001. You should be able to order it on the HP part Surfer Web site or third party like Amazon or eBay resellers.

You can see how to install this map on page 67 of the HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service of Guide.

I hope this is the information you're looking for.

  • 2.4 Ghz wireless protocols supported in LabView

As part of our University, we use your Robotics Starter Kit 2.0 and two other Robots of Lynxmotion (Brat & Tri-trak).

Our goal is to integrate all three robots with LabView on a PC using Bluetooth/2.4 Ghz wireless connections.

Our Tri-Trak can be controlled by a PS2 controller that uses a 2.4 Ghz wireless connection. I'm not sure of the Protocol for that, but it doesn't seem to be the Bluetooth. LabView supports protocols other than Bluetooth 2.4 ghz wireless?

Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated,

    Thank you

    Richard.

    ThiCop,

    Thanks for your reply.

We were able to determine that the lynxmotion robot used the technology/Protocol, we decided to buy a Bluetooth for it.

  • East - the Pavilion 20 it be upgraded to the 5 GHz wireless card?

The HP Pavilion 20 can be improved to support the 5 GHz wireless card?

HP Pavilion 20-b010 all-in-One desktop computer
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03524659

This computer has an integrated Ralink RT-5390 mini-map PCIe wireless.
    http://www.MediaTek.com/en/products/connectivity/WiFi/PC/PCIe/rt5390/
This card is the only ONE BAND (2.4 GHz), supporting IEEE 802. 11 b, g and n

IF you wish for the 5 GHz band,
THEN BOTH devices must support the new IEEE 802.11ac Standard Dual-Band.

FIRST, a wireless (WAP) access port or Wireless Router on your home network must be Dual-Band (IEEE 802.11ac).

IF this equipment is provided (for rent) your provider of wireless Internet (ISP).
THEN, you will need to work with them for this upgrade (may have fees $$).
IF you have your wireless router, THEN it must support IEEE 802.11ac for the 5 GHz band.

SECONDLY, your HP Pavilion 20-b010 all-in-One will require a new (replacement) wireless card and MAY require the replacement of the antenna (dual-band).

The AC-7260 Intel Dual-Band with Bluetooth 4.0 is a topic highly IEEE 802.11ac compliant PCIe minicards.
IF you only had previously not supported Bluetooth, THEN this additional feature is a BONUS.

    Hello

I have a Linksys WRT610N (material v1) router, and I have configured settings wireless for the range of 5 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz

wireless network, but the problem is that my laptop (wifi compatible n) detects the 2.4 Ghz network, but is NOT the

5 Ghz network.  I have no idea what the problem could be :-(

    Here is my setup :

(5 Ghz) wireless network settings :

    network mode: only wireless-n

    network name (SSID): WRT610WiFi-N

channel width: auto (20 or 40 Mhz)

    broad channel: auto (DFS)

    standard channel: auto (DFS)

    SSID broadcast: enabled

(2.4 Ghz) wireless network settings :

network mode: Wireless - g only

    network name (SSID): WRT610WiFi-G

    channel width: only 20 Mhz

    broad channel: auto

    standard channel: auto

    SSID broadcast: enabled

Security on the two mode is 'WPA2-personal' and "WPA-TKIP or WPA2-AES" encryption

But my laptop do the WRT610WiFi-G and not the other :-(

Currently, I am a bit disappointed as you can understand, but I hope someone here can

give me a solution for this problem...

    Best regards

  • WAG320N very bad 5 GHz wireless signal.

    Hi all

Because I live in an apartment building, I decided to buy a proper router on 5 GHz. I see each of them and at least 12 wireless networks 2.4 GHz (mainly BT HomeHubs or other boxes UK ISP wireless). I am studying the CCNA and our teachers recommend cisco routers (linksys) as the best. I bought a WAG320N as one that suits that I could find on the British market for a reasonable price. The problem is that I have less signal on 5 GHz on 2.4 GHz I have 50% maximum of the 5 GHz signal and speed is usually lower than 802.11 g, average below 64Mbps! I can't believe. When I change 2.4 GHz signal has up to 80% as my old router TP-Link. The speed is more often up to 65Mbps, means awful. I have seen a lot of topics on this particular router but I couldn't believe that to sell Cisco products these awful and unreliable as this router. I tried to change channels on 5 and 2.4 GHz but it's always the same, the wrong speed and weak signal. My wireless card is Intel WifiLink Advanced-n 6200 and Sabayon linux and Windows 7 operating systems. I have a laptop and it is CCA 6 meters between the router and there are 2 walls. The router is still under warranty so I will not hesitate to return to PCWorld...

    Thanks for your help.

I solved it. I moved the router more near my room. There is only one door of the room between the router and my laptop. Signal has cca 90% and the speed is especially 270 or 300 Mbps.

  • 2.4 GHz Wireless and the problem of USB 3.0 with WRT1900ACS

    Hi people

I guess I discovered a new "buggy" feature on my new ultra buggy router.

When I plug my WD mybook external hard drive usb 3.0 on the slot usb 3.0 on the Router 2.4 GHz and 2.4 GHz-comments off immediately. When I unplung the hard drive the 2.4 GHz re - started working properly, but after 3 times this operation, I have to restart my router with the cause of usb 3.0 unplugged the 2.4 GHz band stops to work control. (also tried with different readers)

On the 2.0/sATA port everything works fine, but I bought this router for sharing an external hard drive connected to the router quick installation network data (and on this side, this router is amazing > 100 MB/sec in reading from the hard drive to the usb 3.0 port).

This happens with the firmwares both 1.0.0.169041 and 1.0.0.168229.

I also tried to put all possible combinations in the settings Wireless 2.4 GHz.

All wired connections work properly since I bought it.

If I can't solve this problem in 1 week I will change this router, bought on amazon, with an ASUS or a Netgear, may be less effective on the side of drive hard usb 3.0, but probably more stable than this one.

It seems to me that Belkin doesn't care for anything about its customers, they do not work hard to solve the problems on these router, otherwise there is no other router but WRT1900AC v1 with a stable firmware. Instead, the company retains to launch the new hw updates each year. Belkin will never reach the success of the WRT54G in following this path.

The speed of USB3.0 data transfer causes intereferences with the frequency of 2.4 GHz WLAN.

Make sure that you use a USB 3.0 cable tank of high quality when connecting any device to the USB 3.0 port.

  • Printer are not accessible through 5 GHz wireless

I have a complete wireless network at home which consist of 2 Airport extreme routers. My Canon MX920 printer is connected via ethernet with extreme router a (old model).

If I connect my Macbook Pro wireless through 5 GHz with extreme router B (new model), I don't see Canon printer. If I connect through 2.4 Ghz, everything works fine. If my Macbook is connected wireless to the router extreme (who is also connected to the printer) both 2.4 ghz and 5 GHz works very well.

I don't understand this. Can anyone help?

I just bought a laptop HP 15-g013dx at Best Buy. They assured me that it's compatible 5 Ghz WiFi wireless.  But only the 2.4 router appears as an available connection.

My wife's old iPad can access the 5 GHz. I am a tech dummy, so I don't know if I need to download a driver or something? Or do I need some kind of adapter?

    Thanks for any help,

    Hi, Thomas:

The saleswoman at Best Buy was incorrect.

Here is the link to the product for your model specifications page.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c04395361

It comes with a single band (2.4 GHz card only).

You can indicate that, because of the description of b/g/n card.

Double band Wireless N cards have the descriptor abgn or agn.

The only thing you could do would be to replace the card with a card dual band wireless, and it cannot be an Intel card from your laptop hardware is AMD.

There are two service manuals listed for your model. One shows, according to which compensation relates to your real model, the customer can replace the card easily, and we show that it can only be done by an authorized service center.

So if you are interested in the resettlement of the map, take a peek at what manual is relevant for your specific model.

The easy patterns to change the map will be a compartment on the bottom.  Those where the client can not change the map will have solid background with no compartments to change the hard drive, memory or wireless cards.

It would be the wireless card I recommend...
