6210 USB output impedance

Hello

I use the 6210 USB to generate a train of pulses with the meter. I would like to know the output impedance of the acquisition of data to avoid the impedance mismatch. He is waiting to drive a load of 50 ohms? I couldn't find this info in the manual.

Thank you

Miko

Hi Miko,

Why are you concerned about impedance matching and what type of device you connect to? The USB-6210 using TTL and therefore values of impedance. As long as your current is lower than-16 my for 2.7 V or - 6 mA for 3.8 V (as specified in the technical manual of the product: http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/371932f.pdf), you should be fine.

  • R series: compared to current output output impedance adaptation

    Hello

I wonder about the output impedance specified for SMU-782xR and some other adapter module ike l 6581.

The specified output impedance is 50 ohms. To get the best signal integrity, it is imperative to adapt the impedance using a cable (transmission line) with a 0 hm 50 characteristic impedance and impedance of 50 ohm load.

But I don't understand how this is possible, because with a high level of 3.3 v, the output current proposed spindle must be 66 my. The current per output pin max 7821R is 4 my.

This FPGA offer 128 pins, so that the maximum total output current should be of 8.5 A, so 28 w. It's not realistic!

Could someone explain why outputs are 50 ohms?

And how do I adjust the line and the termination of employment?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Benoit Chantepie

    Benedict,

After some thought, the concept of the output impedance is really not applicable outputs logical digital because they spend most of their time in the saturated States and time spent in the transitory States is not usually specified with the exception of the time limits.

What is your purchasing process is I would ignore the specification of output impedance. Watch the voltage and current limits. If those who do not meet your needs, consider external buffers. You can specify the buffer to meet the requirements of your testbed (including protection against defects if necessary) and to meet the specifications of the devices OR.

  • Basic measures and the output impedance of the change with PXI-4461?

    Hello

I am required to build an audio station with platform PXI OR test.

It is my first experience with Renault. So I don't really know a lot...

The PXI-4461 is a replacement of a former HP audio Analyzer. The measure is quite simple:

1 generate fixed freq signal and measure AC RMS power

2 measure THD (total distortion harmic) at frequency fixed

3 measure SNR (signal to noise) at frequency fixed

4 generate and measure DC signals

    5. change the output impedance of 50 ohms and 600 ohms.

If I have a good feeling on which tasks 1 to 4 are feasible. I would like to ask if the task 5 (change the output impedance) problem possible?

If this isn't a work around?

As for tasks 1 to 4, it is possible with out doing 'a sound vibration' Toolkit?

How helpful the Toolbox will be for the tasks listed above (humble).

What should be my starting point learn to manage these measurement with Labview?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Hazkel,

Sound and Vibration toolkit will help a lot with steps 1 through 3.  This without the Toolbox would require a very high level of knowledge with LabVIEW and you will probably run again for complications.  In response to the fifth step, I tried to adapt the output impedance and am not able to do so programmtically.  However, you can still do this in hardware by adding a shunt resistor and potentially switch between if necessary impedances.  We have an article that deals with impedance matching and a circuit configuration to set the impedance if you are interested:

    Impedance and impedance matching

    http://www.NI.com/white-paper/3475/en/

I recommend starting with examples that we have already built in LabVIEW to familiarize yourself with the concepts.  You will find them by clicking on help-> find examples-> search, then search for your application. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Devices 6210 USB in a virtual machine using

    Hello

I have a NI 6210 usb device which I want to use in a virtual machine running in Sun's VirtualBox.

The host operating system is Vista, the operating system in the virtual XP machine.

It seems as if between the two OS USB device sharing does not work correctly.

I installed the drivers fpr the 6210 in both the host and the guest operating system.

The device is correctly detected in the host operating system.

What I want to do is use the usb device in the virtual machine only, there no need to be available in the host operating system.

But when I run the virtual machine, it seems as if the usb toggle device between the host and OS invited frequently, i.e. in a second, it appears in the host operating system, in the next second it appears in the guest OS. Is there a way to "turn off" the device usb in the OS, host so that it can be used exclusively by the guest operating system?

I also tried to use Windows7 as the host operating system but with the same result as described above.

    Thank you.

    Hi Christian,

Can you tell me which version of the DAQmx driver you use? I am aware of a case where he helps update version 8.9 the DAQmx. If you have an older version, please upgrade. I hope that you have added a filter to the VirtuaBox mentioned such in support USB in VirtualBox help file section 3.7.9.

  • USB output and Audio fail

Several days apart my audio output has failed and then doesn't have a single USB port. It's a question of remedy, or am I headed for a new logic board? I have an IMac 21 "end ' 09 running 10.11.5

A bad USB device or a USB cable can simply triggered the USB port overload protection.

First try to reset the SMC, according to > reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.

If this does not help, try again but this time unplug everything and wait a few minutes in step #3. Then test each USB port one at a time with a good working USB device.

  • Not resettable 6210 USB device

    Hello

I am having some problems with a USB-6210, when I connect it to the target computer.  The following is installed:

    - NI DAQmx 8.9.5

    - NO MAX 4.6.0

I can run one or two tasks, until I get the following error:

ERROR-88708 occurred to the DAQ Assistant

When I try to reset the device, I get the following error:

ERROR-50405. A parameter of type pointer is not valid.

Then I need to unplug the USB and reconnect to operate again.

I plugged the USB-6210 to my laptop (which has different software versions installed), I don't have this problem.  Makes me think that the camera is ok.  Are there known with these versions of software and the USB-6210 bugs?

    See you soon

    Hi Glenn,.

Thanks for the reply.  I called support AND shortly after the announcement yesterday, and they suggested that it could be related to noise on the USB cable or a USB hub.  I tried another USB cable (the original cable was wired near other equipment potentially noisy), and another USB port (went to the back, rather than on the front), and the problem has not reappeared since.

  • NI USB - 6212 BNC analog input impedance matching

I just ordered a case NOR USB - 6212 BNC DAQ (should be delivered soon). I want to use to measure HV signals using a probe of high voltage of 1/1000 I have.

Now, datasheet of the probe (not a lot of info) says it has an impedance imput 100MOhm. I suppose that it consists of a simple resisitve divider, and if the ratio is 1/1000, I wait so to have a 99.9MOhm resistance in series with a 0.1MOhm resistance. However, the data sheet also specify that the probe is designed to be connected to an oscilloscope with an impedance of 1MOhm. As this input impedance is very low compared to the low value of the separator of resistance resistance, so I guess that the real resistance at the level of the sensor values 99.9MOhm and 0.11MOhm (to obtain the 0.99 and 0.1MOhm when it is connected to the oscilloscope for 1mW).

Therefore, given that the impedance of the USB-6212 according to the datasheet, the analog input is > 10GOhm, I expect to measure higher to true alternative voltages when connected to the acquisition of data from 10%. This assumption has a meaning?

What would be the best way to get around this? Do a calibration and correct the values acquired in LabVIEW code? Or should I add precision 1MOhm resistance at the same time to the acquisition of input data to decrease its resistance to entry to the value expected by the probe?

    Thanks for your help!

    You are not alone

Since you have a range of 1000: 1 I guess you also need bandwidth (I have a TEK 6015 A ), so you need based on the impedance input, a complex value, means he must not only watch but also the ability to input resistance (1 M).  demarcation of the field probes have usually some elements of toppings to match the probe and the input scope. RTFM of the help of the probe

BUT a more serious point is that with your probe, you have a very high resistance.  And if you look in the specification of the 6212 you will find on page 2 by mistake ppm in logarithmic scale graph!  and even 100 k source impedance it not shown.

So I'm afraid that a simple 1 M on the DAQ entry can work if you're only measuring DC, and only if you use a channel on the acquisition of data.  A workaround is an amplifier separate buffer with an impedance of good entry corresponding to the specification of your probe and a low output impedance.

  • Amnesty International and counter sync + USB signal stream (USB-6210 vs USB-6341)

    Hi all

I'm at a stage of identification of a material suitable for the following tasks:

    • 5 analog inputs (AIs) of reading at the same time, tensions at a rate of kSps (at least) 10,
    • application captures 2 inputs using timers (detection of contours with timestamps), square wave entry with duty ratio of 50 percent and about 1.5 kHz frequency and variable pulse width / frequency (from 2 sensors hall, representative of the DC motor rotation speed and direction, quadrature signals), resolution of timestamps should be (at least) 50 ns,
    • AIs and counters should behave in a deterministic way, and must be synchronized in a way,
    • data to be transferred via the USB port of a host computer with Matlab Data Acquisition Toolbox (unfortunately not LabVIEW).

I've identified the long USB-6210 USB-6341 and potential candidates of material to accomplish the above tasks, but after reviewing several documentation and the topics of the forum, I'm still a bit confused, if both are fully working and my approach described below is not working properly.

Counters: I intend to use the internal time base available 20 MHz as being the source of meter to get into account the resolution of timestamp 50 ns. External impulses hall are used as sample clock (about 1.5 kHz, see above). As the pulse width varies, the sample clock is not constant.

AIs: Using a 10 kHz internal clock signal derived from the time base of 20 MHz for timing and analog inputs (trigger) start-up and counters simultaneously material should translate into the required synchronization and deterministic behavior.

    It work? Other recommendations?

Next is the USB data transfer: all HAVE 5 and 2 data entry of the meter must be correctly transferred to the host computer (the corresponding rates are shown above). USB-6210 is capable of 4 USB signal flow, device USB X range (6341) offers 8 of them. Unfortunately, I could not understand the exact meaning of the expression "signal flow" still. Do I need 1 flow of input signals (would be 7 for my application described) or 1 stream for all analog inputs and 1 for counter inputs (lead 2 streams for my request). Is there no further details on this approach (more than Streaming of signals of NOR) USB signal flow?

Any challenge to the described application that I might have forgotten? 6210 USB seems to a very limited number of entry PFI, maybe even too low for my meter participate application?

Looking forward to your comments and advice.

    1. I recommend the X-6341 series on the M-series 6210 sake of counters/timers.  It is more of them, and each of them is more capable.   It can also have a great FIFO embarked for meters that may be important in certain tasks, although I don't think that you currently deal with one of them.

    2. your general concepts on timing & sync are satisfactory.  You will be able to share and to route signals that help ensure synchronization and determinism between the timestamps for your various tasks.  Note that for meter entry tasks, you need set up the trigger 'Arm Start' rather than the regular start trigger.

3 is not authoritarian, but I believe that the flow of signal # will correspond to the tasks #.  For you, it would be 1 task of HAVE and tasks CI 1 or 2.  (Not clear if you have 1 Encoder with 2-channel quad that would require 1 task of CI, or if you have 2 encoders with 4-way quad).

    4. pay attention to the hall effect signals that are not virgins.  Digital filtering is available and probably better on the X-series, the series M.

    5. strictly speaking, edge detection is a type of digital input task that produces samples but no timestamps.  Ideally, I would like to parallel wires on the two digital inputs for the entries of detection and counter change to position quadrature decoding.   Then I would sample the counters Encoder 1 or 2 using the internal pulse 'event of detection of change '.  I would create another counter timestamp change detects pulses as well.

  • Reliable detection of USB-6210

I have a 6210 USB that I use on a HP laptop. If the USB-6210 is plugged into the laptop at the start, the USB-6210 is not detected by MAX and is unusable.

If I unplug the unit, the beeps of the computer (the usual beep when you unplug a USB device) and plug in again, the computer will beep again, but the USB-6210 is not always detected by MAX.

If I wait until the computer starts before connecting the USB-6210, then it works OK. On two other identical laptops (purchased at the same time, the identical devices and software), the USB-6210 works well if it is plugged in before or after startup, so there is something different about this laptop in particular, but I don't know what.

    Any suggestions?

I use Windows XP, SP3, portable OR DAQmx 9.3.5 on all three computers.

  • Outputs with Om 50 digital TTL

    Hello

Is all DAQ Multifunction (USB, PCI, and PCI - e cards formats) with digital output that operate on the entrance of Om 50? It can also be taken out of the meter.

    Thank you

    Vasilich,

Print digital only devices with an output impedance of 50 ohms are our HSDIO devices. If the reason you want a multifunction data acquisition is to use the DAQmx driver, then devices 6535/6/7 would be better because they use the DAQmx driver. That said if you don't go to high speed with your release you will be able to get away with using DAQ hardware with an output greater than 50 ohms impedance. If it is absolutely necessary that you use a device with an output impedance of 50 ohms HSDIO devices is the only option. I hope this helps.
