  • "Scan To E-mail" configuration on HP Officejet Pro 8600 more N911g

It's the same problem reported by several other users of this forum to which no solution has been provided.

I was not successful to set up the scan e-mail option for a HP Officejet Pro 8600 more N911g bought 12 August 2012 and using CLP1CN1150CR firmware.

I'm trying to do through the interface of the Web server built into the printer from an iMac running Mac OS X 10.6.8 and the 5.8.0 HP utility.  More specifically the page under 'outgoing Scan-> Scan to E-mail-> e-mail profiles.

I tried 2 SMTP from different servers, each one works well to send the email from the computer: Apple iCloud mail service (formerly Mobile Me, formerly known as.) Mac) and AT & T Net messaging service.  I checked the server name, port number, and authentication login and password were all correct.

When scanning to email serves as the printer, I get an error message: unable to connect to the server.  Check the address and the name of the server.

During a test of the computer when configuring a profile of outgoing mail, I get an error message: the device was unable to send the test e-mail message. (EmailAccounts-timeout).

When I try to configure the page under "Settings-> E-mail Alerts-> mail server" and use exactly the same values as those in the e-mail profile out above, registration and Test option fails with an error message: the device was unable to send the test e-mail message.

Oddly enough, I am able to use the client to the computer with the option scan to the computer-> e-mail in PDF format or by e-mail in JPEG format.  With this option, the file is scanned and added as an attachment to an e-mail message from the Mail in Mac OS X client.  The e-mail message is sent via SMTP server even when I press the button send.

All the error messages seem to indicate that the client software of electronic mail of the printer is unable to establish a connection to the SMTP server.  However, it is unclear what configuration setting is one that could be the cause of the problem.

After further research, I noticed that there is another default possible values of port Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP):

    • Port 25 is the standard SMTP port number.
    • Port 465 is the number of SMTP over SSL, Secure SMTP (SSMTP) port.
    • Port 587 corresponds to the port number dedicated for a presentation Mail (MSA) Agent that uses a variant of SMTP, as specified in RFC 6409, which requires that clients are authorized and authenticated to use the filing of mail service.

  • Series of printer HP Color LaserJet 2840: not able to configure the functionality of SCAN to e-mail or a folder

Have a series of HP Color LaserJet 2840 printer on a local subnet for home with two computers that share.

We can make regular features print very well.

We cannot get the SCAN function to work for the scan to e-mail or in a folder.

Went and used the HP Toolbox to set options analysis, but for some reason, they are not taken.

The Guide of the user for this problem are usless (as usual with the documents of the user).

I have spend too much time on this seemingly simple question, as usual.  (months of work on this periodically)

I'm sure that's not that hard to implement.

Can you please help or advise.

    Additional information:

2 computers on the subnet local via 100MB ethernet switch and router (basic stuff)

No problem of communication to the printer for print jobs or check on other orders of status.

    Some scanning configuration problems.

Two client computers are running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 32-bit

I want to set up the printer so I can scan from the printer directly to a folder on the machine either or e-mail to each machine.

I do the steps correctly, from what I can tell, but the info is not required or sent to the printer. ?

If I add an e-mail through the box to tools, I can fill in the email field and the name field, but it will not show when I hit Add.

Besides which should represent the box 'Host '?  The printer or my personal computer?

If I try to add a file, it displays a browse box but never lets me select a folder to scan to?

I don't understand.  Shouldn't be this embarrassing.  And if it is, (as usual), the stupid tech docs should do a better job MUUCCHH through it.  In fact, they don't even show or talk about the Host column.  So what is this for.

    Help, please...

I'm sorry, but to get your question more exposure I suggest posting in the trade forums since it is a printer. You can do so at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/

    I hope this helps.

  • Pro Tips: Troubleshooting scan to E-mail questions in e-all-in-one printers and ePrint

    Hello e-all-in-one printer users,.

If you're reading this, chances are you have a problem of webservices in your HP e-all-in-one printer. If you can not scan to e-mail, use ePrint, or get a code application, this post is for you.

Many of later vintage (2010 and beyond) Photosmart, ENVY and Officejet series e-all-in-one printers share the same Web services and Wireless features. Within these series printer, you can enable wireless and Web services (ePrint, scan to e-mail, printable sheets) connectivity of the façade do their installation for use with Android, Windows, iOS, Macand Chrome OS much simpler than the old printer models. Of course, when things go wrong or there is confusion about the use of the printer and features such as printing and scanning to e-mail stop working, the correction of these problems is the same in most of the models.

WebServices are not connected: what affects?

When the webservices connectivity is lost ePrint, scan to e-mailand pads features will stop working. If you are just getting started with the installation of your printer, the inability to generate a code application (to add your connected HP printer or sign in to Instant ink) can be attributed to not being able to afford Web services. If you are affected by any of these questions, read on. I have some suggestions that might help.

    Ordinary remedies

    • Before set you Web services, make sure that your printer is connected to a network, either via an ethernet cable or Wirelessconnection. Print a report of Network Configuration of your printer front panel (usually this is located under Tools / reports) to confirm an active ethernet connection.
    • If you are connected wireless, touch the wireless icon printer . If you see as connected and there is an IP addresses starting with 192.168... or, 10 grand. If this isn't the case, run the Wireless Setup Wizard to connect you with your network name (SSID) and enter the password wireless you are prompted.
    • Ensure that the date and time your printer settings are correct. You can check and adjust this via the front panel of the printer in most cases and trivia: the printer Web server integrated.
    • Now, with network connectivity guaranteed webservices icon or (depending on model) and try to activate Web services.
    • If you have managed to connect and a leaflet printed, or at the very least, an [email protected] address is displayed on the front panel of the printer, perfect, Web services are now functional. This means that you can now ask your HP printer connected , or use one of the above characteristics *.

Note that ePrint and scan to e-mail feature are addressed later in this post if you still need help with these functions.

    • If the webservices are always not, try your printer restore default*.

    * Note that this step resets the setting up your printer wireless, address ePrint and other custom print settings. If you have created a custom @hpeprint.com address that it will be permanently deleted. For more information on custom addresses ePrint, click here.

    Here's how:

    • The printer's front panel, press the Setup/key icon and then tap tools
    • Select Restore to factory settings
    • Note this new printer may contain this setting under the heading maintenance of the printer instead of tools.

Then, to reconnect to your network (wired or wireless) and try to set a manual DNS:

Make a note of the IP address of the printer.  Then, follow these steps to configure a manual DNS:

    • Enter the IP address in a web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer), and then press Enter to go directly to this page. This should take you to your built-in Web server (EWS) printer.
    • Click the network tab.
    • In the submenu on the left, click Networking.
    • Then click on the network (IP) address.
    • Click Manual DNS server.
    • DNS preferred as 8.8.8.8 manual entry
    • Auxiliary DNS server entry as 8.8.4.4
    • Click on apply to finalize this change.
    • Note that menu above EWS items can vary in overall models of printers. If you do not see the exact topics that I've listed here, the subtopic you should always appear on the Networking tab.

Then, press the icon of Webservices or and reactivate your webservices (required for scanning to E-mail, ePrint , and other functions).

Then, if a scan to e-mail question has led you to this position, tap the scan icon and enter the email address that you want to scan to.  Then, recover the PIN code that you should automatically receive by e-mail and complete your scan to E-mail setup by entering this PIN code in your printer.  Ideally, if you are able to get this good service will be fully functional.

Alternatively, if ePrint is your main problem and all the above (except for scanning to E-mail steps) suggestions worked, try emailing your printer a print job. If it prints correctly, ePrint is back online. If you are a user of HP ePrint app, the app did automatically detect your printer? If not, go to the application settings and manually add your printer to the app using either ask you code or IP address of the printer. Finally, if you're a printable, user use your favorite applications on the front panel of the printer, or via HP connected.

There are advanced troubleshooting steps beyond what I posted here and you can find them in the Forum such as displayed by the employees, Experts and members of the community. Start with the basics and if you still can't not to take advantage of Web services from your printer don't be shy to reach out - HP Support Forum's is a great place to exchange ideas and help each other to get the most out of our products.

Thank you for taking the time to read. If you have any questions or comments do not hesitate to answer.

    All the best,

    Greetings,

  • m225dw: the scan to E-mail Setup questions

I just bought a new m225dw printer and I am trying to set up the Email scanning function and I have big problems. When I open the wizard and it asks me to select the printer, it is showing that I have two new printers connected, choose one of them gives me a message "error communicating with the printer". The other allows the wizard to open and continue. When you enter in the wizard and enter my gmail address and password, etc. and then click on save and test returns the message "printer cannot find the remote server. If I come back and use the ip address of the SMTP instead, it returns the message "rules and procedures for the transmission of data between the server and the printer don't are not supported on the server."

Please let me know any suggestions that this function was one of the reasons why I bought this printer model.

  • How to configure the settings of mail on HP Laserjet Enterprise 500 color MFP M575 printer/scanner?

How to configure the settings of mail on HP Laserjet Enterprise 500 color MFP M575 printer/scanner?  The Office has 5 staff members each with ending with [email protected] for example e-mail addresses.  We have also created an email for option analysis as [email protected] (not sure if creating an e-mail address for the scan option is required).  We are not part of any domain, and there is no server in the office.  When you try to configure the email on the printer/scanner control panel it asks the host name.

What host name that I can use?

If you try to configure the browser by using the IP address of the printer, he asks as the SMTP server. The MS Outlook 2010 all our emails use mail.junior - albania.org incoming mail server and outgoing.  Other settings in MS Outlook 2010 are box My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checked and use the same settings as my mail server entering selected.  On the Advanced tab: incoming server (Pop3): 110 (SSL encryption is not checked) and outgoing (SMTP) server: 465 use the type of encrypted connection (SSL) following.

What server SMTP should I use in this case?

I would appreciate your help in the configuration of the HP printer/Scanner for scanning and sending by electronic mail to the members of the office staff email addresses.

    Thank you...

I'll link you to the product page with several documents which I hope will help you to configure your e-mail settings. Please look through them and see which ones fit your needs:

  • e525W / scan to E-mail

I tried to set up the printer to scan to email with a GMail account, but it seems to have problems.  When I tried to scan a page, it seemed to lock up the printer.  The server of the EWS would no longer.  I gave her a few minutes and still nothing.  I tried 2 different GMail accounts and neither one worked.  They give me the error message on a unknown device connection.  I clicked on allow.

    The parameters are:

    port 465

    SMTP AUTH (self)

then my username without the suffix @gmail.com and the password

Step by step 'how to' scan to e-mail Gmail with Dell E525w MFP

    (a) today, Wednesday, January 20, 2016, we had it works

    (b) to continue, you need to get your E525w connected to your network. We found the dense instructions Dell, but finally we have figured this out.  In addition, you must connect to the web interface of the printer via a browser. You must also print one of your computers.  We had (b1) printer connected to WiFi, (b2) connected to the web interface of the printer, and (b3) printed successfully before you take the steps below.

    (c) also, via the interface web printer, we entered our personal email in the address book address.  At the end of this set of instructions that you'll want to test scan something in an email of your choice, and you will find it easy and convenient to choose a pre-loaded email addressbook.  This should take 1-2 minutes.

    (d) to do the scan for work e-mail, we largely follows the instructions of genius of Mark in Minneapolis, Minnesota (UID = markshaheen). Thank you, Mark.

    (e) we had to change brand a little instructions to the E525w, and so we will repeat as start-to-end cookbook, but note that Mark gets all the credit.

    (f) NOTE: we did not want to change all the parameters of our existing Gmail account, so we created a special email account for our Dell E525w printer.  We used a "[email protected]" naming convention, and every time we refer to the EMAIL ADDRESS below, we hear this new gmail address.  Maybe not necessary. Probably not necessary. However, we did not want to add authentication to 2 factors to our existing e-mail account, because we had wired to a lot of other things and didn't really want to take the time to analyze the implications.

INSTRUCTIONS for SCAN-TO-EMAIL for DELL E525W MFP [it's specifically Gmail]

[1] go to gmail account EMAIL ADDRESS and enable 2-step (i.e. 2-factor) authentication

    [2] go to App passwords

[3] editing for printer.  We chose 'Other' and entered Dell E525w for the name of the device.  Gmail, generated a password.  We copied this password (and photographed our screen where we lost it)

[4] log in printer competing web browser.

NOTE: same [4] may be difficult for some.  We are went to our printer and sailed via Menu then system then report/list and then 'System Settings' report and printed.  This 2 - pg report contains useful information, including the number of device and IP address.

[5] click on 'Print server settings', left navigation and we has 3 tabs: reports of print server, print server and of security settings.  Click Print Server Settings tab.

On the print server settings tab, you will see several choices of submenu.  Click on TCP/IP

[7], search for 2nd box grouping of the fields with the label DNS.  Note, this is a really bad and confusing user interface.  So, for clarity, the top of the collection of the fields page, TCP/IP configuration with the 'Host name' field starts and ends approximately 16 fields later with 'Address to automatically configure the gateway' and you need to avoid all this and look below for the next group, i.e., DNS.

On our interface, under DNS domain consolidation, the 3rd line low bed 'Get DNS server address from DHCP' with a box 'enable '.  Clear the check box

[9] immediately below, on the 4th line in this section, you will see 'Manual DNS server address' and our fields were filled with our printer's IP address.  TypeRegeditdans 8.8.8.8

NOTE: we have no idea why 8.8.8.8 works.  We did what Mark has loaded. At this point, we felt as well educated APE, but we checked our ego at the door...

[10] click on apply the new settings (Note: we forget where and when it went past, but at least twice our changes resulted in the web interface by telling us we had to restart our printer.)  Whenever we met this that hit us clicked on "restart" and it took 1-3 minutes. Not much)

[11] under the settings tab of print server or using the NAV on the left, click E-mail alert.

(Note: more bad user interface. who thinks that "E-mail alert" contains the mail server parameters. in any case, support on...)

[12] he had to enter values for several areas.  Here, we had to do something a little diff Mark asked because when we jumped the POP news it did not work.  In any case, below, you see all the fields and we suggest that you try to enter your data equivalents.

    Primary gateway SMTP: smtp.gmail.com

    SMTP Port number: 465

Send the e-mail authentication: * SMTP AUTH (self)

    SMTP Login user: E-MAIL ADDRESS

    SMTP Login password: PW

    Re-enter SMTP Login password: PW

    POP3 server address: pop.gmail.com

    POP3 Port number: 110

    POP user name: EMAIL ADDRESS

    POP user password: PW

Re-enter the password to a POP user: PW

    : Reply E-MAIL ADDRESS

[13] click on apply the new settings

[14] on the left navigation, click "Print server settings" tab and then click on Security tab

[15] in the Security tab, you will see several choices of submenu.  Click on SSL/TLS

[16] on the SSL/TLS UI we met two groupings of field box.  The upper area contained 3 fields and the 3rd field read 'The Communication SSL/TLS SMTP' - and he had a drop drop-down with choice.  Select * SSL/TLS

    [17] click apply new settings

After step [17] the printer web interface could have carried off a restart dialog box. We don't remember.  However, we know that after [17] we went on our printer, put it in a test 1 - pg doc and scanned successfully to two separate addresses in our address book previously loaded.

If this does not work for you, accept our commiseration.  We probably left something.  You can find the original message of brand here.

    THANK YOU, MARK!

Hello @Abi6, thanks for your response.

We can assign a static IP address and a DNS address manually to fix this. Please follow the steps and check them below:

    • Get the IP address of the printer, you can touch the 'Wireless' icon on the Control Panel printer to get the IP address.
    • Type the IP address in your web browser to get the EWS page on your computer printer.
    • Go to the 'Network' tab - click on "wireless (802.11), and then click «network address (IPv4)»»
    • Click on the box that says "Manual IP", then click "Propose an IP address manually" to give an IP address manually to your printer.
    • Click on the radio button that says 'Manual of the DNS server' and under manual type favorite 8.8.8.8 and manual replacement enter 8.8.4.4 (it is Google's DNS server address)
    • Save the settings and do a reboot on your modem, PC / printer. The scan to e-mail on your printer functionality should work now.

Alternatively, you can navigate on this link of forum HP for the same issue: http://hp.care/2bT8mpN

Have had this printer for a couple of years and scan to send an email worked perfectly with Gmail accounts until a few weeks before, then just stopped.

Hello @kkron, hope you are well!

Welcome to the HP Forum! It is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get help and advice.

I understand that you are having problems when using e-mail scanning function. I would like to help.
We will first try to assign a manual DNS server that seems to do the trick, most of the time. Follow the steps below:

    • First of all, make sure that the printer firmware is up-to-date. If you are unsure, go to http://hp.care/2e12HCp and install the firmware.

Now try to scan to e-mail / web services. If the problem persists, please go through http://hp.care/2e0ZCCy and make sure that all settings are correct. If necessary, try to create a new account by following the instructions.

Let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance

  • HP Photosmart 7525: allow me to scan for e-mail

Tried scanning to e-mail.  Receive the message that 'impossible to connect to Web Services.  Confirm the Internet access.  Checked the Web Services on Control Panel.  Services Web seems to be on.

What should I do to scan messages?  I can scan to the computer.

    Hello @clipper91,

Welcome to the HP support forums.

I understand that you are getting a server connection error when you try to use the e-mail scanning on your Photosmart 7520. I would like to help.

A good place to start is to put a manual DNS.

The following response from happytohelp01has screenshots large and instructions for manual DNS.

The steps are for a Photosmart 7510, but is very similar to the Photosmart 7520.

If you encounter a hiccup, let me know.

If this does not resolve the problem, remove and then enable Web Services.

This will reset the functionality of the web services.

Note: this will cause the printer to lose its ePrint address.

If the printer has a custom ePrint address, it will be lost forever.

Once the Web Services were able to again, you will need to re - set up the scan to E-mail feature.

If you have any other questions please let me know.

    Hello
Gmail recently changed several security options that can block the printer to connect to their servers.

First, open the following link and ensure that you are connected to the same account that you define for the printer.

  • HP 6520: HP Photosmart 6520 does not scan to e-mail. Also does not seem to update the PIN code

I have scanned in the mail in the past but cannot now to. I get a 403 error. Also the printer doesn't seem to change the PIN code I was sent. Empty the password, it displays about 10 asterisks

    Hi @cjmrnanp

Welcome to the HP Support forums. I understand that you get a connection error message when you try to use your printer Photosmart 6520 scanning e-mail.

Please define Manual of the printer an IP address manually and DNS servers. If you do not know how to this I have included a link to another post which has measurements, including screenshots, on how to do it. Please do not worry that the screenshots show a printer Photosmart 7510, the steps are the same.

Once you have set the IP address manually, you still have the same problem with by entering the PIN code?

Please let me know the results.
