  I recently changed my motherboard and processor because my old card mother and fried CPU. I had Windows 8 Pro (64-bit) installed earlier, an upgrade to Windows 7 (64-bit).   This can happen when a temporary error occurs, it indicates that one or more authors VSS returned an error. To diagnose the problem, type the following command from an elevated command prompt:

  Vssadmin list writers

  a. Open command prompt by clicking on start prompt by typing in the start search box.

  b. right-click on command prompt and select run as administrator.

  c. type vssadmin list writers and press ENTER.

  This should provide information on what writer returned the error. More details about the error must also be registered by this writer in the event log.
