  I suggest the setting up of a static IP address. In this way the router will always assign the same IP address to the printer.

  New owner of a W700 here.  I read the other thread on abandonment of Wifi connectivity, but my problem is different.  I'm running the pilote.218 which I just installed last night.

  My WiFi is very good, once I'm connected, but after I put the W700 sleep or I lock it, when I come back after a few hours the wifi shows connected, but it is not.  If I try to launch IE to Firefox, or even if I'm just trying to run an IPCONFIG command at the command prompt, nothing happens.  The OS is still respnding, but the network interface is not.

  If I try a reboot, reboot hangs as well and I have to turn off by the force of the tablet.  When I reboot, my wifi connects again and everything is great.

  I tried suggesting it to change the power settings and I don't allows Windows to put the network card to sleep, but that does not change.

  Does anyone have a similar problem, or a suggestion on how to solve this problem?  I had installed the pilote.222 of the other site (by uninstalling the driver first, etc.), but the behavior is the same.

  FYI - the drivers nouveau.225 now posted on the Acer support site fixed this problem.

• Drops of WiFi after unlocking

  Just recently my phone has started to abandon the wifi connection after unlocking.

  It seems to stay connected after that screen, I wake up, drops of bu as soon as I unlock wifi connection. Considering that it is used to work properly, do not drop the connection either. The only thing that has changed is the last update for the Z3C OTA, but it was weeks ago.

  I have a 3-4 years old Time Capsule (Gen 3 I think) and it suddenly started to abandon the wifi connection.  A reboot on the TC better - but I've seen a lot of posts about what is a problem.

  I have a relatively new Lenovo Edge 2 a few months old.

  Problem I have currently: screen goes black randomly, but the light is always on, no mouse pointer, sound turns off too (similar to the hibernation perhaps?).

  I had a similar problem before, another message from pilot. The problem was that my laptop don't would not connect to wifi at less than the power mode has been totally exacerbated.   I recommend you to reset back to factory settings table.
  You could do a hard reset, press and hold the volume button upwards and the Start button / stop.
  Choose the factory (in the middle of the 3 choices) settings using the volume button to navigate.

  Note: your data and settings will be reset too!

  Basically, it works for like 6 seconds as mentioned previously, the ping increases a lot and then the connection is lost. Wired connection works perfectly.

  I see that you have tried a lot of different solutions, but I put t see no workaround related to the WLan router.

  You said you are using WEP encryption.
  WEP is a very weak encryption standard. Usually its recommended to use WPA / WPA2 standard.
  I recommend you to reset the router back to factory settings WLan.
  Then test connectivity WLan using an open (unsecured) wireless LAN.
  But of course; This must be done only for testing purposes.

  You should also test different channels WLan (1-9). I guess that the Wlan router must contain settings too.

  • Reset Wireless Modem & router and change channels: useful, but not completely solve the problem. After you change the wireless channel, I tested my internet speed and the result showing 20-40Mbps (slower than 60mbps) speed download. Sometimes, the result will be like 6-8Mbps and sometimes it will be 60Mbps. If its unstable.
  • Wireless diagnosis: result indicates connection is good.
  • Called my ISP provider: they checked and said all right.

  My solution is very well when I'm at home but is not going to help if I get the iPad with me - it will be hit & miss if I can get the WiFi also.  Must be set correctly - I see no that it is hardware related, so there must be a bug in the software/firmware.

  Anyone having problems connecting to wifi can try the workaround network comments - at least it will get you.
