  I had to make a drastic clean the C drive of my ENVY 17 laptop and did a Factory Reset. I was able to reload Windows 8 Pro to my USB stick recovery.

  However, Windows 8 Pro cannot be reactivated indicating that the product key is invalid or blocked. I understand that this is due to having the OS completely cleaned and formatted drive.

  My questions are:

  1. Will be the HP (which is available on order) recovery disks be able to help solve the situation described above?
  2. It will allow me to reactivate my Windows 8 Pro?
  3. Will the recovery be HP discs/media contain or are marked with the correct Windows product key?

  This could be a temporary problem, please run live on your Norton Internet Security Update, until you get the message "No updates available", and then restart the computer.   Since switching from XP to Windows 7on my Dell Inspiron, everytime I try to play a game of Microsoft game console I get messages "software rendering mode", possible problem with driver video Dell/Intel graphics or hardware acceleration (sound of course).   Download instructions should have told you what to do with the driver from Dell.

  It's a self-extracting exe file not a driver file - Windows cannot find it.

  Once it has finished downloading, you right-click on it and select run as administrator, then it is extracted to a folder C:\Dell\R140623.

  It is expected by then by running the setup.exe file from this folder and which reached the driver update.

You encounter some problems because there is no driver Windows 8.1 to your model, only Windows 7 and 8.   It's quite a few updates failed.  This can be linked to the issue, but we don't know really until the update problem is resolved.

  Read this document to Microsoft as it addresses this particular error.  It also has various tools to try in case the first option does not correct the problem.

  You can also try the Windows Update troubleshooting utility included in Windows 7.

  Go to start > Control Panel > find and solve the problems under system and security > fixed problems with Windows Update under system and security.
